Guys, listen. When you're drafting your yelp review as you're eating... the meal is either horrendous or amazing. It was amazing. I've known about this place for years, but was so off putted by it being inside a gas station (???!). It wasn't until a few months ago when I delivered an order from here through DoorDash that my curiosity had finally peaked. Today, I decided to give them a try. Ordered 3 dinners through DoorDash and even after tip, my total was only about $30! We kept it simple & ordered 3 fried chicken wing dinners, 2 with string beans, 1 with collard greens, and all 3 with the Mac and cheese........guys. The chicken was cooked in fresh grease (y'all KNOW how important that is!), was well seasoned, crispy and juicy. Wings were a decent size -- not pigeons or steroid huge. It was easily the best/my family's favorite part of the meal (I'm already thinking about trying the fried pork chops next ). According to my husband, the string beans were fine -- flavorful, but not seasoned heavily. The collard greens were seasoned and vinegary, like I like. The Mac & cheese was great too, seasoned and cheesy. Do you see a pattern here??? (SEASON YOUR FOOD FOR STARS ) There's so much more I want to say, but if you're not sold by now, then...idk? Trust me on this hidden gem. I'm looking forward to ordering from here again (most likely through DoorDash because that gas station is a little...um...) If the next experience is as good as this time, I've met my Corner Carryout replacement! ...oh yes, the only thing I didn't love was the corn muffin. There are ppl in reviews on Google Yelp and delivery sites saying strange things about this place...one persons says others "don't know soul food because this is the best they had"(must be a family member of close friend) and someone said they "don't know why folk complain"(WOW!!) ....NOW! I know soul food very well as my Granny was from South Carolina and she has plenty of sisters and daughters who can throw down and so can I...I was led to this place for what I was told was soul food...OH REALLY!! Let me tell y'all. for me it was horrible and I will never ever go there again. The pork chop was drenched in watered down gravy that had nooooo taste, the pork chop was still dry inside though they tried to mask it with the watered down gravy. The cabbage had no taste and was overcooked, the mashed potatoes tasted as if they were made with water...COME ON NOW!! soul food has flavor and is food for the soul, This food went straight to my mind as my thoughts were even lost, I don't know what this was...The presentation and packing was equally terrible, any restaurant should know when preparing a carry out meal the packaging should first be sustainable to get your food from point A to point B which is from restaurant to home...they placed cabbage without draining them in a paper recyclable food tray. Cabbage was next to mashed potatoes, between the cabbage juice and watered down gravy it was a whole mess. Then I tried to eat it and it was HORRIBLE!!! Never again and if this isn't her core values then maybe she need to return and cook her own food because it's a never again for me...She make me want to open a restaurant and serve real southern style soul food...this was simply A WHOLE MESS I SAY!! I've eaten here 5 times and been really pleased 5 times. Pork Chops were great( without gravy) Fish( all types) was fantastic Chicken wings were FANTASTIC Turkey wings( if you can get them) were wonderful. Extremely reasonable pricing and a really pleasant attitude from the hostess/ order taker. Its in a gas station, it looks really intimidating but the on site Security Guard is professional and personable. Wow...A soul food place in a gas station convenience store. Had to check it out for myself. BBQ chicken platter was on the money. Chicken leg, collards & mac & cheese. Corn muffin was the bomb. Ordered through grub hub, I got the catfish, Mac & cheese, collard greens & corn bread muffin. Catfish was great, crispy & seasoned well, I enjoyed the Mac & cheese as well, the greens tasted like it had too much vinegar but it was ok. The cornbread muffin was a mini muffin, goodness do u have to be stingy with the cornbread lol for the most part I enjoyed the food especially the fish. read more

I've been here a couple of times and only got sides...mac n' cheese, sweet potatoes, potato salad, greens, corn bread. Well, the mac n cheese is on point, my husband said the potato salad was cool, I did also like the greens. The corn bread was more cake like then corn bready. I have not tried their entrees, but saw some sort of baked chicken with gravy and peppers that looked hella good. I think that's going to be Friday nights dinner! It's kind of unassuming, being in a gas station, but I can definitely respect a black owned/operated, small business that is trying to start small and go from there....makes sense..plus with all the corner boys standing in front of the gas station, they will probably need to stop "working" and grab something good to eat...and guess what!? I ordered the chicken wings with the macaroni and cheese. The mac was okay but I must say that for a soulfood place, I expected a LOT more out of the wings. I was severely dissapointed. Like, how can a soulfood spot mess up chicken wings?! They were dry, cooked WAY too hard, and BLAND! How can you go wrong on chicken wings tho??? They were flavorless. They could've just thrown some obay on them and called it a day but they didn't even do that! Safe to say, I wont be back. First thing I am going to say is yes, Glo's is in a gas station. Do not let that deter you. The fried chicken and corn muffins are top tier. Those are two things I would recommend getting from there. Glo is a very nice person and made sure my friends and I felt at home when ordering. The yams were not the best but I would not take that away from my meal. Try it out! read more

I was looking through Grub Hub & stumbled across Glo's Soul Kitchen. I said to my wife,"what the hell let's try something different" she said sure. So we ordered & I was impressed right off the back because as soon as I sent my order my phone rang & a delightful lady told me that the seafood salad my wife ordered was an extra $3. I would've gotten it but the Mrs that's ok she'll get the potato salad. To me the lady didn't have to call she could've just sent it charged me & left it at that, so I greatly appreciated that. Next, the food was here well before the scheduled time it was supposed to be here, another . Man oh man when we tasted our food, I had the 1/4 bbq chicken,yams, & baked mac n cheese. My wife had the ribs, potato salad & baked mac n cheese. Omg, someone's grandma is in that kitchen because the food was FUC***G delicious! I had been cooking fried chicken & crab cakes all day for the Raven's Playoff's on Saturday so my father decided he would try this new place & bring some potato salad & greens to our get together. My family knows excellent potato salad because my great-aunt lived 4 blocks away from Ro's & she was known for "smack your mama" potato salad. At auntie's funeral they had a moment of reflexion by many who enjoyed her cooking throughout baltimore & Ro's potato salad was very good in comparison. I am a green's connoisseur I prepare them "smack your mama" style & get many request to make them so I knew what I was looking for & I will say the flavor was good but they were gritty so they were not cleaned well & I was disappointed. I only had a fork full because I couldn't take the grit in my teeth. I am hoping this was just a bad batch because someone was rushing to serve the Raven's Game customers. Meh...maybe it's me or they don't cook in Alabama like they do in NC, but I was not all that inspired...I was undecided about what to get, so the server encouraged me to try the special, pot roast with potatoes. I haven't had a good pot roast in a while, so I tried it. Very tender but not a lot of flavor. The accompanying potatoes were seasoned better. It came with one other side, but I wanted to try the mac n cheese and a veggie, so I got cabbage. As I've said in another soul food review, Mac n cheese is the true test of a soul food restaurant. Bottom was burnt--the server saw this when she gave it to me, yet she kept scooping!! I didn't get that smack your mama type of Mac n cheese. Meh uninspired lol. The cabbage was just okay. I still don't get how a city as black as baltimore has no superb soul food restaurants. Darker than blue was at least okay, but I see they're now closed. The owner their has such a doozey attitude it makes you not wanna go! Carolina Kitchen in PG is still the best soul food in the area IMHO. This place left a lot to be desired. when you open a carry-out or restaurant, its as much about the service as it is the food....which was great, even the portion was reasonable, but the service was sloppy and uncaring....please consider hospitality when you are serving others and don't assume that they have no id, when they want to use a credit card...my people, my people. read more
