The macaroons are OK just they're never consistent with their size of them. The carrot cake I had last time was the worst carrot cake I've ever had. My wife has a Gluten allergy as well as one of my daughters friends so we stopped by here to pick up some Gluten-free cupcake options so they could participate in the festivities without having Gluten. Most of the local bakeries now offer gluten free options but typically require you to pre-order them. I walked in here with zero notice and they had what I wanted ready to go along with several other options. I was in & out in under 5 minutes even with customers in line ahead of me. I came in around 2pm on Christmas Eve with my son who was very excited. A friend of mine said she was able to purchase raw sugar cookie dough for $5.99 so it's easier just to come home and punch out cookies with her family. I called the store to ensure they sold raw cookie dough and was told "yes" and was even quoted a price, and once I entered the store my son and I were the only ones there. I was greeted by 2 kind young ladies but told that they did not sell cookie dough. They called the owner to double check and I was told that they don't sell raw cookie dough. Annoyed, I just went home and made my own sugar cookie dough with my son. Owning a business is hard, I have 1st hand experience. Communication amongst staff and consistency in what's offered to patrons is something I was not impressed with here. I'm sure the quality of desserts is great but I have yet to try it. read more

Good coffee On my way to San Francisco, I stopped in Bakersfield for gas and coffee. Tastries Bakery was near by, so after filling up the tank I stopped there for coffee. The lady who was behind the counter was very nice and handed me a cup to get my coffee. Like a dope after I filled up my cup with coffee I poured in vanilla flavored cream which I dislike big time! I was willing to pay for another cup, but the kind lady let me try again without an extra charge. The coffee was good and the bakery had delicious looking baked goods on display, but unfortunately I was not up for trying any this time. To be a fair Yelp-er, they made a really pretty cake, a turquoise cake with pink flowers, and were able to match pretty close to the picture. Actually, their cakes are awesome. I became super uncomfortable though when I saw Bible scripture and a long list of anti-LGBTQ messaging in their binder. I was literally cringing when I handed over my credit card, but I had already provided all of the cake details to the front desk. I pulled two stars because I was so incredibly bothered by their refusal to make cakes for LGBTQ folks. I am updating my opinion of this place after what for me was an expensive purchase. I ordered a cake on a Thursday and picked it up on a Friday. The little cake was $35, I think they said it is a 6 inch cake. It was a tall cake, taller than 6 inches. Anyhow the cake was very dense, and I did not enjoy it very much. By the time Sunday rolled around I threw the last 1/4 of the cake in the trash. Not a good value, not a good cake. Yelp people, I am an oilfield service operator, and I have made hundreds of cakes better than the $35 cake I picked up at Tastries. I will go for other items. But for $35 I could buy the stuff to make 7 cakes which will not end up in the trash. Honest review not swayed by any religous or political bullshit. read more

I waited in line for about 25 minutes with two people ahead of me to get my in-laws religious themed Fourth of July pastries like; in god we trust, under god. They loved the theme but I could tell from their faces they did not like the taste and I didn't like cleaning up the crumbs. Here you are yelp. Tastries made my wedding cake a few months ago and I totally forgot to review them so sorry for the late review. We went in for a tasting before deciding on a cake and the staff was very friendly, they sat us down at a table and gave us water and directed us to where all the tasting samples were so we could try the various cakes and frostings. After several delicious samples we opted for a french vanilla cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. The cake was delivered exactly when promised the day of the wedding and it was one of the most delicious cakes I've ever had. We kept the topper and plan on enjoying it later, the staff was easy to talk to and make arrangements with and never once was I worried about anything going wrong because they were always there to talk and reassure. Buckle up, friends, because this experience is quite entertaining and confusing at the same time. Last week I called and ordered a Chocolate Sugar Free Cake and 2 gluten-free chocolate cupcakes. Customer service to order was great. They called me back at least 2 times, once to place the order and the next day to pay for it since their first call back was after hours. I placed the order for pickup on Saturday at noon. I arrived at about 1pm to pick it up. So now I have to tell you, I understand that sometimes gluten free and sugar free products are not the best tasting, but because of medical reasons they are a necessitys in my family. Now having said this I will get back to what happened. Candle was blown and time to cut the cake. The knife gave me such resistance I honestly thought it was frozen. It was extremely dense. Ok no problem I'm thinking bread or brownie consistency. I cut everyone a slice and hand my little one her gluten free cupcake and that's when it all went downhill. First bite from everyone is what is wrong with this cake? The taste... definitely not chocolate and the frosting. Where do I begin with the frosting. You know when you get that smooth creamy feeling when you eat frosting. Well this one was the exact opposite. Imagine going to the beach and taking a bite of the sand. This is exactly what it tasted like. The entire cake was inedible, a complete waste. I boxed it back up, but the slices I had just cut back on a plate ready to return to the bakery. They were closed, I sent pictures and messages on Facebook messenger. Here's where it goes extremely downhill real quick. Sunday they were closed. Monday during my lunchtime, I call the store and Bailey answers. I tell her that I had purchased a cake on Saturday and I had sent Facebook messages along with pictures of my issues with the cake. Bailey put me on hold so she could go ask the baker about this. Bailey comes back on the line and says that her baker says that is the way their sugar free cakes are always made. The Monk Fruit Sweetener that they use does not disolve she says and so its always grainy like that. I said it is completely inedible. She says thats my personal taste preference I say no really it was the opinion of everyone who took a bite. She says she cannot give me a refund(which I hadn't asked for at this point) because if they gave a refund to everyone who didn't like the cake they wouldn't be in business(I'm unsure what to think about that statement). I said I'm sorry I don't understand whats going on can you please tell me your policy when you get a complaint. She said I have been here for 9 years and have never received a complaint on the sugar free items. I said ok then if you have been there for 9 years and never received a complaint does it stand to reason that possibly this cake actually had something wrong with it. Bailey says no, they use the same recipe so it is exactly the same. Again I said so your recipes come out exactly the same every single time, there's never been an issue. Again, Bailey says never its my problem and then tells me "Well what do you want"? I said please tell me what your policy is what is the procedure. Bailey then says I don't want to give you store credit because all you're going to do is complain about those flavors. So the only thing I can do is give you a partial refund and then PUT YOU ON A LIST THAT SAYS WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH YOU AGAIN. I'm sorry what? I didn't do anything wrong here, I made a purchase it was not properly made, it was inedible, and I am the one who is going to have my name on a do not do business with list. Um ok heres my name, I provide her my name and I hang up and I am completely dumbfounded as to what just happened. I would think good customer service would sound like "oh no this has never happened before bring the cake back in we will see what went wrong and make it right. This is not what happened. After sharing this information with my daughter, she calls the store back and again is met with rude attitude from Bailey in which Bailey ultimately hangs up on her. My daughter calls back again and speaks to someone who also identified herself as a manager Rosemary. My daughter lets her know that she also works for a bakery in town and is questioning the policy when someone calls in to complain about a product. She ask Rosemary is the policy to be rude to the customer, only give partial refund and then add their name to a do not do business with again list. My daughter tells Rosemary that the cake was absolutely made wrong and that Monk Fruit Sweetener does dissolve when made properly and frosting should taste like your eating sand. Rosemary tells my daughter that she will give store credit for the remainder of the order amount if we decide to come back! Come back?? My names on a list and was treated me horrible! When you have customers that are regulars it's disappointing and I feel unfair that there is not a limit to how many holiday cookies someone buys. From now on I'll go to smiths they have a limit of 20 holiday cookies per customer if they want more you need to place an order read more

While I was there for the keto snack , I gotten the chocolate cheese cake an pumpkin cheesecake roll. I had the chocolate cheesecake , it wasn't that good, it was hard it didn't taste very good. It was a disappointment. My coworker had the pumpkin cheese roll , she also said hers wasn't that good , it was not soft like other cheese rolls , it tasted like it's been sitting there for a while . My Manager said the keto cookies an brownie was delicious, the brownie melted in her mouth. Depends on what you get. The store is set up really cute , the employees are really nice .
