I honestly can't say anything bad about the actual pastries and cakes here. They're very tasty and there are a variety of flavors. My issue and reason for the 3 star rating is because this is literally a cake bakery and they packaged my wedding cake in a box that was entirely too small. The owner and bakers knew that my desserts and cake were traveling 3+ hours to my wedding venue and resulted in the back side of my cake being damaged, and I'm just not sure why the most important part was packaged so poorly. As well as my dessert shooters which were tipped over and this place is not cheap. The person that picked up my cake even asked and made sure that they knew it would be traveling and they assured her that the packaging was correct. Pretty crazy to me that a bakery didn't have a cake box large enough to fit a personal sized cake and it was left uncovered for the entirety of its transit. Seems like they aren't worried about making sure everything arrives perfectly. I'd steer clear, find somewhere with more professionalism. read more

I wish I could score this higher however I feel this is the most accurate rating I can give, and this is only due to staff being willing to help and their customer service actually being efficient. I ordered a cake from Tastries and asked that it be a pink champagne with strawberry filling top layer with a party and cookies and creme filling bottom layer. The cake was ordered as a light pink ganache drip (picture was emailed to them) with two macaron cookies placed on top. Mind you I ordered this cake a week in advance which is less time than what they usually ask, however they were willing to accommodate my request and were kind enough to take the order. Upon arrival to pick my cake up, I was given a hot pink ganach drip cake which I attached in the pictures below. After speaking with them in regards to my cake they determined whomever placed my order did not instruct their cake decorator on which color I requested so they went with a "medium pink" according to the owner. I expressed my frustration and they kindly took the cake back and refrosted it to my specifications (see second cake pictured). The worse part of this order was upon cutting into my cake. This cake was ordered for a goodbye party for a M.D that I work for and was supposed to contain her favorite flavors, champagne and strawberry. Upon cutting into the top layer it was immediately apparent that no strawberry was inside and the cake did not taste like champagne. This is the absolute WORSE outcome when ordering a cake. You should never have to cut into a cake and see that it wasn't what you ordered (imagine if this was a someone's wedding cake). I was beyond frustrated not only on my cake being wrong but also for the person whom the cake was for. Now this was the first time I ordered from Tastries so maybe this is normal for this business but I was annoyed at the what they consider "filling" for their cakes. As you can see in the pictures below both cakes had almost no filling inside which again maybe is normal for them. But the lack of filling did nothing for the cake as the cake layers were so thick and had nothing to pair with. The cookies and creme filling had a layer so thin that you couldn't even taste it. At that point you might as well call it a smear because a filling should be something way more substantial. I did call and speak with company immediately after the party ended and expressed to them my disappointment in how the entire experience (start to finish) with them had been. They did acknowledge their mistake on the wrong top tier cake and gave me a store credit for the mess up. I would have much preferred to have been refunded the cost as now the only way to get my money back is to purchase a cake from them again to use this credit. The rating is based on a combination of customer service, cake taste, cost of product, and overall satisfaction with the company. I will tell you that this cake cost over $120 and for that price I expected to get something that was what I ordered and that actually contained a filling. This was not a cheap cake and I expected more from it in the end. read more

$100 cake and this happened to it... not to mention it was dry and lacked flavor. I was told my environment was too hot when it was not. They said "bring it in to be fixed" I told them I couldn't. I had to serve it. It was my son's smash cake and my party was within the hour. There was no time. They then said they would call me with a solution. I never received said call. I emailed them to which I got a response saying they'd call the next day. They never did. I emailed again and they rudely responded with "we had 50+ cakes go out that day and none of them bubbled like that" Their customer service is poor and their employees are rude. This was a special cake for my son's first birthday and I'll never get this moment back. I believe I was treated so poorly because I used a gift card toward the purchase of the cake... now I see I was better off throwing it in the trash then wasting my time and money on this bakery. read more

Stopped in on a random afternoon to see what kind of goodies they had available. At first I wasn't sure if they were open, but was pleasantly surprised to find they were. They had a great selection of sugar cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and bars, but the thing that really caught my attention was the CHEESECAKE selection. I was originally going to get one slice to share with my husband, but everything looked so good, I decided I wanted my own! Both of the ladies that assisted me were very nice and patient as I made my selections. I ended up with 2 pieces of New York cheesecake and a peanut butter brownie that was sinfully decadent. The only thing I did not enjoy was the whipped cream on the cheesecake, which I'm fairly certain was more like non-dairy whipped topping; great for appearances, not so good on flavor. First and last time I waste money on a cake from this place. I ordered a round cake, Minecraft theme. First off, I paid 65 for this cake, NOT WORTH 65 DOLLARS. Initially they forgot the N in congrats. How do you forget a letter in a word you probably spell EVERYDAY I should have looked at the cake more when I picked it up, throughout the day we noticed more mistakes. My sons name was spelled incorrectly I asked them to spell "Neko" And not "Niko" Which looks like the did start to do and then decided to put an I instead. The lettering looks god awful and I probably could have done a better job. Also I was disappointed the cake was mainly buttercream frosting and not foundant. Tastries isn't on my side of town, but I went here for the first time today for a Christmas cookie decorating class with my mom, my 3 year old daughter & 5 year old niece. The class was awesome!! Cathy was a great instructor, she provided lots of helpful tips for the home baker & she created a relaxed & fun environment for us all. The tools, cookies & frostings were provided, so all we had to do was show up & have fun. I liked that we were not rushed or timed because everything takes longer when you have little ones! We were given bakery boxes for our projects & they took care of the mess. Whoo Hoo! After the class we walked around the boutique part of the bakery, which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We found some cute ornaments & decorations & tried the protein bite which was super yummy. Every employee we encountered here was friendly & helpful, especially the girl at the front. She wrapped all of our purchases individually with care & put them in a cute bag with pink tissue paper. As we were leaving, Santa came to visit. This was the best Santa I've ever encountered. He spent time with each kid & really had a way of talking & listening to the kids that helped them to open up & to feel special. My daughter is still talking about it!! I am highly impressed with Tastries Bakery! Their customer service and product is top tier. I had been wanting to try this bakery for a long time and I'm so glad I finally did. My usual go-to for cakes had an issue with their cake image printer and I was out of luck with not a lot of time left to figure out where to order a birthday cake for my daughters fifth birthday party. I happened to be in the area and decided to drop in and ask if by any chance they'd be able to make a cake on a bit of a short notice. Employees and owner were amazing; they were friendly and accommodating. The ordering process was a breeze and I am beyond satisfied with the cake. I have never liked fondant cakes; they've always tasted like cardboard to me but boy was I surprised. This was the most delicious, moist cake I've ever had. Decided to try the goods here since I've tried every other bakery in town. I have an event needing a cake so I wanted to try their stuff before paying $260. I got a chocolate chip cookie and 3 cupcakes. A chocolate cupcake, french vanilla, and red velvet. The cookie was ok, not too sweet. As for the cupcakes, I was a little disappointed. They all were pretty dry. I thought as I got further into the cupcake I would encounter a moist center, but I didnt. Also, the frosting they used on the red velvet was not cream cheese. It was regular vanilla frosting (with too much vanilla extract?) and it was super sweet. Maybe I'll return and taste more things? But as of now, not impressed. read more

Trying to figure out why they only got 3.5 stars because the treats I picked up last night were the bomb!!!! We had a special Elite Yelp event Limo and Lights. I decided to give them a go because they close to where I was located. The downtown location is closed so don't be fooled by the 19th street Yelp Page. As I walked through the door I was promptly greeted by the friendly staff. There were about a hand full of people in there.It was nice a roomy and had a few tables where you could sit and enjoy some treats or my guess to discuss and taste your cake for your big day. I finally made my choices for the big event. It was the lemon bars which were huge, a cherry cheesecake bar (same size as the lemon bar) peppermint brownie, and a mini tartlet that was a pumpkin eggnog. From what the crowd on the limo stated they were all a hit as the entire box was handed out. Sorry kids none for you....lol Awesome job tastries, I will diffidently be back!!! read more

Zero stars. Don't be fooled by the one glorious star you're seeing in the preview of this review-- it's zero. I have put off writing this forever but now that I see what's going on with the business, they deserve to be called our for their crappy business. I thought I would refrain from leaving low stars because they're a local business and I wanted to support them. However, I went once and never returned. Two months before my niece's birthday my mom passed away. With everything going on, we opted to order her cake from this place. During the meeting/session it sort of came up. They knew our story, knew this wasn't the norm (my grandma usually makes all of our cakes) but we needed help keeping the work of a toddler's party to a minimum with how insane everything was. This place couldn't find our cake on pickup day (right before the party). THREE HOURS LATE they found it. In the wrong fridge. The dark frosting had run. They tried to "fix" it. It was a disaster. Sunken in on one side, and still charged us full price. The cake was disgusting. Cardboard has more flavour. They were SO RUDE, too. Three hours to find a nasty ass cake and continue to destroy it. For my nieces birthday. Knowing what we just went through. This is the worst bakery in town and now I found out that their horrible owners are complete garbage!!! i ordered the cutest custom retirement cake for the owner of a local florist. I took in a picture of what I wanted and the cake they made was amazing and looked exactly like the cake! There was perfect fondant work and it was the focal point of a huge dessert bar. The selection sucked, the cookies I did end up buying were hard and disgusting(I shit you not, my pit bull wouldn't even eat them...) and definitely not worth $40, and last but not least....the customer service was horrible...when I arrived, there were 2 women who appeared to be busy with other customers, so I browsed as I waited, a 3rd woman came out from the back on the phone and sized me up a couple of times, I'm not sure why I was never greeted, when one of the lady's became available ,she still said nothing to me, so I said "you work here or...?" Every single person working at this establishment today, needs a lesson on customer service, amongst other things.
