***USP: Maharashtrian style chaat truck. They are in a tiny food truck pod which has two other trucks. They have a TV attached to the truck playing Bollywood style music and a small covered and heated area for sitting and enjoying the food. ***FOOD: they have meat and vegetarian options for chaat, sandwiches, wraps etc. We got misal pav, chicken sandwich, samosa chaat. I was disappointed by the misal pav. It had way too much of the overpowering spices which are typically used in garam masala. We are not the ones to leave food but we couldn't complete this dish. The kids got the chicken sandwich and the samosa chaat and they were happy with their dishes.

After multiple visits, I can confidently recommend Mumbai Express to anyone craving authentic Mumbai street food in the Bay Area. I first tried this place because I was seriously missing Mumbai-style flavors. On our first visit, we ordered vada pav, cutting chai, potato bhajji pav, and a chicken tikka sandwich. I was slightly disappointed with the vada pav--it lacked salt, and the outer layer was a bit too thick for my liking. However, the potato bhajji pav was pure delight--crispy, adequately stuffed, and absolutely satisfying. The dry chutney they add is incredibly tasty and truly takes the dish to the next level. The chicken tikka sandwich was good as well. On our second visit, we repeated a few favorites and also tried the Kolhapuri misal, which turned out to be the star of the day. It was very authentic, flavorful, and had that perfect spicy kick that instantly transported us back to Mumbai. On our third visit, we tried the spinach bhajji pav along with some of our previous favorites. It was slightly oily for my personal taste, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though they are a food truck, they do have a small tent-style makeshift dining area with a few tables for customers. That said, I personally prefer taking the food to-go--I'm still getting used to (and comfortable with) the food truck culture here in the Bay Area. What stands out the most is that you can truly feel the chef's love for Mumbai in each and every dish. The flavors are nostalgic, comforting, and made with heart. 1000% recommended for anyone missing Mumbai street food or wanting to experience it for the first time.

We ordered just a samosa chat at this place. Loved it! First, they used yellow batani (yellow peas) instead of garbanzos exactly like the chaat I'm used to eating back home in Hyderabad. Haven't seen that here in the BayArea before. Nostalgic! Perfectly spicy and crispy samosas too. My only complaint was that it was served lukewarm! A big downer for me. Otherwise it is a 5-star. I will be coming back and asking to serve it hot

Love the Vada Pav at this place. Have been going here just for that. Rest of the stuff is . The Service here is good an ambience is good as well. They have a screen on the food truck where they play some Indian songs or sometimes movies. They also have an enclosed space to sit to avoid the wind outside.

Pav bhaji is one of my all-time favorites so I was excited to try it at Mumbai Express food truck. Honestly, it was just okay! It didn't really taste like proper pav bhaji to me. The gravy felt more like it was loaded with garam masala and had a strong tomato heavy flavor rather than that balanced street-style taste you expect. For $12.99 I definitely feel like they could do better and stick closer to the authentic recipe.

Food was really amazing and tasted great. We really enjoyed the wraps. They give green chutney and ketchup.

Love the food here. It's authentic Mumbai style street food that reminds me of back home! The staff is so kind too. They accommodate and make sure you love the food. It's a food truck but they have so many tables outside including a tent too.

If you're craving authentic Mumbai street food in the Bay Area, Mumbai Express is a hidden gem you need to try! I went all in and sampled quite a bit -- from classic Vada Pav and spicy Misal to comforting Pav Bhaji and crispy Sabudana Vada. Every dish reminded me of home -- bold flavors, generous portions, and that true street-style touch. Their Kolhapuri Misal was perfectly spiced, the Bombay Sandwich was fresh and filling, and the Amul Pav Bhaji was buttery and nostalgic. I also loved the Sai Amruttulya chai -- strong, flavorful, and just the right way to end the meal. Fast service, clean setup, and super satisfying food. It's my new go-to for quick, flavorful Indian street eats in Santa Clara. Highly recommend this place if you miss Mumbai's food

Excellent chaat spot! . Must-try dahi puri, and the vada pav was excellent too. The sandwich was good, but the schezwan fried rice was average around 6/10. Overall, great place for authentic street food!

I was at Madhu's Idiyappakada and noticed that this food truck has even more loyal customers, so decided to give it a try. And food here was really good. Chicken tikka wrap was probably my favorite. Vada pav and pani puri were excellent as well. I liked the veg fried rice as well.

"I had an amazing experience at this store. The food is absolutely delicious, with a great variety. There's also ample parking, and the staff is very kind and helpful. I would definitely rate it 5 out of 5 stars."

We went here on a weekday evening, they have some tables outside where you can sit and have your meal, quite a decent setup. they have a kiosk to order so it was very easy to order we got vada paav which was really good 5/5, tasty vada and chutneys, size was great too Paav bhaji was decent 3/5 Magi lassi was also good We saw many people taking bhaji paav which we regretted not ordering , so will definitely go back for it later since that's our favorite thing from Mumbai. Highlight was that there is TV outside the food truck which was playing amazing 90s Bollywood songs and that added to our food truck experience.

We came on Saturday evening and they had just run out of biryani which made me SO sad but it's a good reason to come back! It's spacious with plenty of seating so would be great for bigger parties too. My bf has a nut allergy so we could only order the andhra chicken curry and the goat curry (which are the same, btw just different meats.) The flavor was truly flavor-ing, and it had just the right amount of kick. I loved the spiciness!! Only note, there were quite a bit of bones in both entrees and I'm taking off a star for this. In the chicken especially, it seemed there were more bones than actual meat which was sad because the chicken was SUPER tasty. Tender and juicy and held the curry just perfect. The naan was also delicious as I prefer a thinner, flakier naan and they delivered! Also you MUST get the mango lassi here, they didn't skimp on the mango and it's the perfect reprieve from the spicy meal Will definitely be back to try their biryanis.

At first I thought that tiffin will be enough for us but then my kids quickly gobbled the idli and mini dosa and wanted more. So I ordered another plate of only idlis( has 3 big soft fluffy ones) and also took advantage of the happy hour to order a masala dosa for me. I am not the kind of mom who eats kids leftovers all the time. So I wanted my own dosa. For drinks, I did a medium strong filter coffee ( they make it to your customization and I was surprised to see they even had jaggery). My 9 year old took a mango lassi. Food was incredibly satisfying. Servers are very attentive and they came three times to our table offering more chutney and sambhar. We already had enough but if you like more sambhar and chutney with your food, this is heaven. One server even came with ghee for my little ones for idlis. I was so grateful. He was genuinely sweet to my kid. Felt a connection than just a business! Ambiance is classy and relaxed at the same time. Nobody gave me the side eye when my three year old was a little noisy. Have a corner for takeout containers for leftover food, very generous. I would highly recommend this place for its delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. They have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm and when we went at 5.30, the restaurant was more than 70% full on a Thursday. Eat early and save money too. We really had a very good time! PS- when you pay the bill ( you have to order and pay the bill before you eat at a room next to the dining area), do enter your phone number at the end and enroll in the loyalty program.
