    Chicken Tikka Sandwich
    Rashmi N.

After multiple visits, I can confidently recommend Mumbai Express to anyone craving authentic Mumbai street food in the Bay Area. I first tried this place because I was seriously missing Mumbai-style flavors. On our first visit, we ordered vada pav, cutting chai, potato bhajji pav, and a chicken tikka sandwich. I was slightly disappointed with the vada pav--it lacked salt, and the outer layer was a bit too thick for my liking. However, the potato bhajji pav was pure delight--crispy, adequately stuffed, and absolutely satisfying. The dry chutney they add is incredibly tasty and truly takes the dish to the next level. The chicken tikka sandwich was good as well. On our second visit, we repeated a few favorites and also tried the Kolhapuri misal, which turned out to be the star of the day. It was very authentic, flavorful, and had that perfect spicy kick that instantly transported us back to Mumbai. On our third visit, we tried the spinach bhajji pav along with some of our previous favorites. It was slightly oily for my personal taste, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though they are a food truck, they do have a small tent-style makeshift dining area with a few tables for customers. That said, I personally prefer taking the food to-go--I'm still getting used to (and comfortable with) the food truck culture here in the Bay Area. What stands out the most is that you can truly feel the chef's love for Mumbai in each and every dish. The flavors are nostalgic, comforting, and made with heart. 1000% recommended for anyone missing Mumbai street food or wanting to experience it for the first time.

Love the food here. It's authentic Mumbai style street food that reminds me of back home! The staff is so kind too. They accommodate and make sure you love the food. It's a food truck but they have so many tables outside including a tent too.

We ordered just a samosa chat at this place. Loved it! First, they used yellow batani (yellow peas) instead of garbanzos exactly like the chaat I'm used to eating back home in Hyderabad. Haven't seen that here in the BayArea before. Nostalgic! Perfectly spicy and crispy samosas too. My only complaint was that it was served lukewarm! A big downer for me. Otherwise it is a 5-star. I will be coming back and asking to serve it hot

Love the Vada Pav at this place. Have been going here just for that. Rest of the stuff is . The Service here is good an ambience is good as well. They have a screen on the food truck where they play some Indian songs or sometimes movies. They also have an enclosed space to sit to avoid the wind outside.

Pav bhaji is one of my all-time favorites so I was excited to try it at Mumbai Express food truck. Honestly, it was just okay! It didn't really taste like proper pav bhaji to me. The gravy felt more like it was loaded with garam masala and had a strong tomato heavy flavor rather than that balanced street-style taste you expect. For $12.99 I definitely feel like they could do better and stick closer to the authentic recipe.

Excellent chaat spot! . Must-try dahi puri, and the vada pav was excellent too. The sandwich was good, but the schezwan fried rice was average around 6/10. Overall, great place for authentic street food!

If you're craving authentic Mumbai street food in the Bay Area, Mumbai Express is a hidden gem you need to try! I went all in and sampled quite a bit -- from classic Vada Pav and spicy Misal to comforting Pav Bhaji and crispy Sabudana Vada. Every dish reminded me of home -- bold flavors, generous portions, and that true street-style touch. Their Kolhapuri Misal was perfectly spiced, the Bombay Sandwich was fresh and filling, and the Amul Pav Bhaji was buttery and nostalgic. I also loved the Sai Amruttulya chai -- strong, flavorful, and just the right way to end the meal. Fast service, clean setup, and super satisfying food. It's my new go-to for quick, flavorful Indian street eats in Santa Clara. Highly recommend this place if you miss Mumbai's food

"I had an amazing experience at this store. The food is absolutely delicious, with a great variety. There's also ample parking, and the staff is very kind and helpful. I would definitely rate it 5 out of 5 stars."

I was at Madhu's Idiyappakada and noticed that this food truck has even more loyal customers, so decided to give it a try. And food here was really good. Chicken tikka wrap was probably my favorite. Vada pav and pani puri were excellent as well. I liked the veg fried rice as well.

We went here on a weekday evening, they have some tables outside where you can sit and have your meal, quite a decent setup. they have a kiosk to order so it was very easy to order we got vada paav which was really good 5/5, tasty vada and chutneys, size was great too Paav bhaji was decent 3/5 Magi lassi was also good We saw many people taking bhaji paav which we regretted not ordering , so will definitely go back for it later since that's our favorite thing from Mumbai. Highlight was that there is TV outside the food truck which was playing amazing 90s Bollywood songs and that added to our food truck experience.

    Mumbai Express Vada Pav

Absolutely loved Mumbai Express One of the best vada pavs I've had in the Bay Area, perfectly spiced, fresh, and so nostalgic. And the chai? So good. Comforting and strong. Everything tasted authentic and made with so much love and care. Can't wait to go back and try more items from their menu. Thank you so much Sandesh for the amazing service

Due to a longer wait for food from the adjacent food truck, we decided to give this place a try, and it turned out to be a good experience. The Mumbai express vada pav was pretty good. We also tried the sabudana vada, which was nice. Food was ready quickly.

They have interesting dishes with paneer and chicken as well. We ordered two dishes- Leela lasun keema - This dish was intriguing, with cheese, grated egg, and a rich, spicy gravy. The portion size was generous; a single person won't be able to finish it with just three breads. It was very filling, we took back home the leftover and enjoyed it later with some rotis. They have another version of this- "kachu" with runny eggs instead of grated eggs.. well thought option! Volcano egg biryani- The dish is as interesting as its name suggests. The base is an omelette, and the rice is flavorful with bell peppers, finely chopped veggies, and aromatic spices. The center is with a tomato-based curry. The cheese on the side was amazing, and I loved it. The spicy guava drink is super refreshing with a playful mix of spice, salt, sourness, and the sweetness of guava. I really enjoyed it! They have music playing and the place is lit, creating a total vibe for spending time in the evening on a lazy weekend/ after work, or post-workout. The food is pure indulgence and covered our protein requirements with eggs, along with some fat to burn off. Kinda guilt free. Also, they have games, garba events and other many interesting things going on at different times. Superb vibes, never disappoints! Conveniently located in Sunnyvale - easy to find parking. Delicious burrito that was a nice size and excellent price point. The tortilla tasted so nicely toasted and had a crisp at the edges. Along with your choice of meat, the burrito has Spanish rice, avocado, onions, salsa, beans. What else do you need? The length was almost my entire forearm, might have been actually. I was also given two sauces: a cilantro green sauce and (chipotle maybe) a red sauce. I did not receive the orange sauce mentioned in other reviews. Remember to request what you'd like. The second time I went, they gave me red sauce and orange sauce. Minus 1 star because of slightly inconsistent quality. When I went the second time, the fillings were still great, but ratio was different than the first time. It made the burrito taste different, no crispiness. Still good, but seemed more like a mid burrito I wouldn't have been raving about. BUT I did go right before closing compared to right after opening, which I can understand could make a difference.

The best of the bunch was the dahi batata puri, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. It was definitely on the sweeter side and I felt like the dahi/yogurt wasn't as creamy as I prefer. The chinese bhel was okay, but didn't have much flavor. Lastly the ragda pattice had so much potential. The flavor was there, but it was insanely spicy- even as someone with a med/high spice tolerance. You could feel the burn traveling down to your stomach. All of us found it unbearable and worse of all felt the affects for a day after. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes but after the all the discomfort of the meal- I don't feel inclined to return.

Yesterday, I ordered a Vada Pav, Shalimar Egg Mughlai (on their recommendation from their list of egg dishes), and a Veg Frankie -- and honestly, none of it lived up to the hype(5 stars currently) or price point. Vada Pav: It was okay. The "mirchi" served alongside was literally a raw Thai green chili. Really? At least pan-fry it with some salt and oil to enhance the flavor. For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else.
