I've been to this place a few times, and the food has usually been okay. However, after eating here last night, I came down with a bad case of Delhi belly. I also noticed wastewater flowing continuously from the truck onto the ground near the ordering area, and the smell was quite unpleasant. ***USP: Maharashtrian style chaat truck. They are in a tiny food truck pod which has two other trucks. They have a TV attached to the truck playing Bollywood style music and a small covered and heated area for sitting and enjoying the food. ***FOOD: they have meat and vegetarian options for chaat, sandwiches, wraps etc. We got misal pav, chicken sandwich, samosa chaat. I was disappointed by the misal pav. It had way too much of the overpowering spices which are typically used in garam masala. We are not the ones to leave food but we couldn't complete this dish. My honest review about Mumbai Express. I came here with family yesterday - July 6th 2026. We have ordered several items starting from Vada Pav, Sev puri, veg Pulav, Pav Bhai. All of the items very delicious but I really want to express my feelings here. I loved their vada Pav. It was one of the best vada Pav I have ate in America. 10 out 10 to Vada Pav. After multiple visits, I can confidently recommend Mumbai Express to anyone craving authentic Mumbai street food in the Bay Area. I first tried this place because I was seriously missing Mumbai-style flavors. On our first visit, we ordered vada pav, cutting chai, potato bhajji pav, and a chicken tikka sandwich. I was slightly disappointed with the vada pav--it lacked salt, and the outer layer was a bit too thick for my liking. However, the potato bhajji pav was pure delight--crispy, adequately stuffed, and absolutely satisfying. The dry chutney they add is incredibly tasty and truly takes the dish to the next level. The chicken tikka sandwich was good as well. On our second visit, we repeated a few favorites and also tried the Kolhapuri misal, which turned out to be the star of the day. It was very authentic, flavorful, and had that perfect spicy kick that instantly transported us back to Mumbai. On our third visit, we tried the spinach bhajji pav along with some of our previous favorites. It was slightly oily for my personal taste, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though they are a food truck, they do have a small tent-style makeshift dining area with a few tables for customers. That said, I personally prefer taking the food to-go--I'm still getting used to (and comfortable with) the food truck culture here in the Bay Area. What stands out the most is that you can truly feel the chef's love for Mumbai in each and every dish. We ordered just a samosa chat at this place. Loved it! First, they used yellow batani (yellow peas) instead of garbanzos exactly like the chaat I'm used to eating back home in Hyderabad. We had pav Bhaji, mumbai sandwich and sukha bhel. Sorry to say but the pav bhaji didnt taste authentic at all and had a weird masala taste. The buns were dry and filled with chilli powder for some reason. We ordered the sukha bhel mild for my kid, but it came super spicy so they didnt not take the request into consideration. However, they did give a refund on that. The Mumbai sandwich was way too loaded with potato and beetroot and it had no taste at all. Located in the parking lot of the Udupi restaurant with plenty of spots to park. They have a few tables to sit and eat if you want too. I've ordered a Chicken fried rice for my kids about 10pm and got the to go pack and went home. On reaching my kid started eating the fried rice and started complaining that it looked / tasted like biriyani.
