I had to order my favorite stir-fry knife sliced noodle with beef, the braised beef w/ tomato flavor and the al dente noodles were the perfect combo ^_^ To add some protein, we had the popcorn chicken, good flavor and pretty big portion. It came in smaller chunks than other restaurants, easier to eat. Their wait staff is friendly and attentive. They checked on us a few time during lunch. The hands pulled noodles are soft and chewy and absorbs the flavors so nicely. Ordered the lanzhao intestine noodle soup and the lanzhao stir fry hands pulled noodle and loved both dishes. The soup was so rich and flavorful without being salty and loved all the cilantro in it. Noodles were chewy and went so well with the broth. This place is a hidden gem in Edison. Hands down, this is one of the best bowls of soup I ever ate. I don't care that it's 93 degrees outside. The soup is that good. I've eaten here twice. I had the Lanzhou beef noodle soup, and the traditional beef noodle soup. The knife cut noodles and the slices of beef are very tasty. I highly recommend the spicy traditional soup. We had the big plate chicken, which was exactly what it sounds like, a big plate of spicy chicken over noodles. The noodles were a tad over cooked for this dish. We tried the beef noodle soup and intestine noodle soup, knife cut stir fried noodle and the tingly spicy oil noodle. The tomato beef noodle soup was a tad sweet and the intestine soup was very spicy. The tingly spicy oil noodle is different from what we're used to, it had a rich tomato broth and egg mixed in. It was flavorful and found the broth to be a little towards the salty side, but overall great noodles to warm you up on a cold day. The beef didn't stick out to me as much, kind of bland. The popcorn chicken was meh, wasn't super crunchy but the portion size was big. Food comes out relatively quick. They did give me a water cup that was dirty so that was inconvenient but we had a spare. Amazing food and service! We were worried it'd be a hole in the wall shop with little dine-in customers, but we were absolutely wrong. We were lucky to be seated right away, and could immediately tell the place was authentic. We've had the beef noodle soup before, and tried to find it in our area, and NewDa's was absolutely amazing. Not to mention it was our son's birthday, and they brought out 2 complimentary pork burgers AND a whole second beef noodle soup! The portions are huge as well, they legitimately gave out two meals for free. Our waiter was great and super attentive. We mentioned in passing needing more chili oil, and he brought it out without us even knowing he heard. Again during the meal, I mentioned being low on broth to my son, and the waiter overheard and filled up the bowl with more broth for no charge. The inside is small and you may be seated next to others at the long table in the center. Service was quick, we were immediately greeted and seated as there was space available. Menu was diverse and was written in two languages. As soon as we were seated, we were giving mugs of water, only down side was that there was something inside of one of the waters which I did not touch. The garlic cucumber is honestly my favorite thing that we ordered. It was refreshing and just tasty. It also acted as a palette cleanser when switching to try something else. We ordered the lamb burger which the meat was good but the bread was heavily seasoned with cumin that you could immediately smell it. The spicy soup that I had with the long noodles was perfectly seasoned, I only added a little bit of additional chili oil since I preferred if it was spicer. My partner had the traditional beef noodles which he did not have complaints and states that it was delicious just that he wished it was spicer. The food was savory and perfect for a cold day. Finally a new competitor to Dun Huang! Dun Huang in Edison has been so boring that I gave up eating Lanzhou noodles and the like unless I was in NYC. But now NewDa has come into town and is loads better, but there could still be room for improvements. Everything was generally very good, but the beef soup had a tad too much msg. The pork "sandwich" or "burger" also leaned on the salty side. Lastly, we ordered the spicy beef salad, but it did not come with any cucumbers or much green ingredients that could've balanced the chili oil dressing (restaurant pictures also show that there were supposed to be?). After reading the reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. I was psyched out about coming here because I've had Langzhou noodles before and liked it a lot. When we got here, most of the booths to the right were filled, but we got seated immediately. The server was friendly and informative. Whenever we picked an entree, he would tell us how it was made. I told him about daughter having peanut allergy and asked if there was anything on the menu that had peanuts. He said that we can order anything we wanted and that he'll have the peanuts taken out, which was fine by us. Sadly, this never happened. We had the following: For appetizers, we got the C1- Cucumber Salad and C8- Tofu with Century Egg Salad. The cucumber salad was ok but I was disappointed in it. Instead of the cucumber being raw, they poached it so it was a bit mushy. The Century Egg Salad was ok, no big deal either. Hubs ordered A8- Lamb Handpull Noodle Soup, which has lamb, cilantro, Chinese leek and radish. He liked it a lot and liked that the broth was clear and healthy. Next, I ordered C9- Big Plate Chicken with Noodles. This was pretty spicy and a little bony but it was pretty good. Lastly, Daughter ordered the A5 Lanzhou Braised Noodle which came with beef, carrot, potatoes, celery, tofu, zucchini, Chinese leek, cilantro and chili oil. The menu didn't state that this entree came with peanuts. Apparently, this came out topped with peanuts and daughter saw it and told the server. He said that he will have the kitchen make it again. After a few minutes, he brought out the entree, I asked if they made this one from scratch and he said yes. Daughter was pretty happy with the entree because it was nice and spicy. The noodles were a bit al dente and you have to stir the entire dish around to mix all the herbs and spices together with the noodles. While she was eating, I saw a peanut. I wasn't happy with that and was thankful that she didn't get an allergic reaction. I told the server and his excuse was that sometimes these ingredients would fall in there while they're cooking it. I thought this excuse was so lame and was not happy with this. I had mentioned to him about the allergies when we got our menus and when we ordered. He said that the entrees we ordered DID NOT have any peanuts. I felt that the chef in the kitchen simply didn't care or he didn't believe in allergies. Either that, or the server didn't inform the chef of peanut allergies . When the server brought A5 out again, I was suspicious and wondered if they just flicked off the peanuts and served it again or not. Hubs' and my entree didn't come with any peanuts, so we shared ours with hers. While the food was pretty good, I was really upset with the service.
