Located in a large plaza with a decent-sized parking lot, Tasty Pot is a good hot pot spot. I especially enjoyed the sesame balls, they were my favorite. The soybean sauce added a lot of flavor to my hot pot, and their appetizers were also delightful. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was clean and charming.
I whine a lot about Chinese-ish American food, but this place in Oceanside is NOT making the list. I enjoy a steaming hot bowl of mostly stuff I can't identify that tastes really good. nobody in the TASTY POT kitchen went out of their way to dumb-down the ingredient list for American palates. we started with the POPCORN CHICKEN and FIRECRACKER SHRIMP both standard appetizers we've eaten at dozens of other places. but, after that, we took a log walk on an unfamiliar side of the street. 2 quick disclosures: I REALLY like spicy food but ordered medium and figured I could spike things with the condiments which included chili oil as needed. not needed. even their medium SPICY HOT SOUPS are plenty spicy. also, servings are oversized and budget friendly for sharing or grazing on the next day. these are the three soups we ordered and their long list of ingredients: #9 TAIWANESE SPICY HOT SOUP (Taiwanese cabbage, instant noodles, sliced beef, beef tendon, enoki mushrooms, clams, fuzhou fishballs, cuttlefish rings, pork blood rice cake, pork intestines, fried tofu skins, brown beech mushrooms, tofu, imitation crabmeat, meatball, sour mustard greens, fried tofu puff, cilantro, and scallions in a pork bone broth). #7 KIMCHI DUMPLING HOT SOUP (Taiwanese cabbage, sliced pork, kimchi, dumplings, vermicelli, mini sausage, shrimp, enoki mushrooms, kamaboko, tempura, clam, fuzhou fishballs, soft tofu, fried tofu skin, zucchini, imitation crabmeat, egg, and scallions in a pork bone broth). #4 CURRY FLAVOR HOT SOUP (Napa cabbage, sliced pork, vermicelli, tomato, corn, egg, enoki mushrooms, imitation crabmeat, kamaboko, fishballs, fried tofu skin, tempura, Chinese string beans, golden fishballs, king oyster mushrooms, eggie fishballs, lobster balls, and scallions in a pork bone broth). all were good. reminder for next time: get extra beef tendons -- love the unctuous texture.
My friend and I came here because we were craving hot pot. It was not busy when we came during dinner time on a Friday night. Service was really good. You scan a QR code for the menu and can order and pay from your phone. We ordered sesame balls and basil popcorn chicken to start. We both really enjoyed the appetizers. I ordered the beef hot soup for my main course and got it super spicy. The spice level and flavor was good however, I felt there was too much cabbage and not enough noodles.
I was so disappointed this time. I took my friend since I told her such great things about my last visit. This time it was not good. We ordered the calamari. It was so salty we couldn't eat it. The owner took it off our tab. We ordered the Japanese miso hot pot. There was no flavor to the broth at all. Luckily they have sauces to fix it a little. The place was empty and the owner just sat and ate and didn't come by. Very unwelcoming. My friend says she won't be back. I'm not sure I will be either. The happy hour is not great. They just give you half an order.
I just had this Tasty Pot today and wowy wow it was super delicious. My friends have been telling me about hot pot and were overjoyed when I heard about this place. The staff were very friendly and inviting and attentive as well. The place was very clean and I love the decor. Okay the food, was amazing. I think my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I ordered extra add ons. I got the Beef Hot Soup in mild with rice on the side. For add ons I got extra beef and extra meat ball. I also got the fried tofu. Everything looked and smelled amazing. It was flavorful and very appealing to the eye presentation wise. Pricing is not bad, I feel it's on par with hot pot places. You order from the app which is really nice but they also got menus if you're not tech savvy. All in all I gotta say from my first time my opinion on the place is it's 10/10. It's great that we finally got a Tasty Pot in Oceanside. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
This is an update review. They have now been operating some time. We can tell they are increasingly popular. In the shared parking lot with walmart there is hardly any parking lots available now. We were seated immediately and served immediately. They have online ordering, menus and even just taking verbal orders now. Our server was super nice. We got two sets of hot pots. - Taiwan spicy hotpot - customised seafood sichuan hot pot. And a set of egg rolls We were served our food within 10 min of ordering food was nice and hot. Lots of ingredients in the soup and fresh. Mine had intestines and blood sausage rice and it was fantastic. The egg rolls were nice and crispy fresh out of the pan. My husband's was good as well because I stole from him. The seafood was incredibly fresh. I might want to add though that perhaps for the lobster they may want to slice it more so that it is easier to remove from the shell. Unfortunately because we are moving out of town. This might be the last time we are here. We will miss them a lot!! Thanks for a wonderful night of delicious food and wonderful service.
Oceanside California now has a great Taiwanese Hotpot Spot named Tasty Pot Oceanside. I was able to check them out and now I can say that I've thoroughly enjoyed delicious hotpot! Tasty Pot Oceanside is a brand that is already established north of Oceanside and throughout the Riverside area. They have a formula that has been working for them and it shows. Tasty Pot Oceanside is located off of Mission Ave., just west of the 5 Hwy, and within the Walmart Shopping Center. My first observation is that parking may be a little difficult, especially when the shared lot gets crowded. I'm just glad that, to my experience, the timed-restricted parking spaces aren't really enforced. I was able to park up for 2.5 hours for dinner. The interior decor is really simple , trendy & cute. It definitely leans into casual dining, so no need to get dressed up. It's spacious enough and great for group seating and family dinners. The music was trendy and upbeat and the lighting is bright. The service is excellent, fast and friendly. I love their selection of Japanese Soju flavors & they have a solid % content to boot; try lychee! In addition, they also carry Premium Lager. For appetizers, I had their Chicken Cartilage and it was excellent! It's crispy with that salty pepper finish. I also ordered the Fermented Tofu (aka Stinky Tofu). I loved both of these dishes. Dinner was a medley of: 1 cheese hot pot 2 lamb hot pot 3 Veggie Hot Pot 4 curry hot pot And they were all divine! I admittedly didn't think much of the veggie, but I believe that all the delicious flavors from the others outshined in this parade; but I am definitely glad they have it as an option. What I REALLY love about Tasty Pot Oceanside is that they have discounts for students, teachers AND our military! But please keep in mind their business hours. They open early, but then closed for lunch and then re-open for dinner. Consider calling to confirm they are opened if just swinging through. Overall, I love Tasty Pot Oceanside as an addition of diversification to our city's eclectic dining options.
I'm glad one came up to North County! We need more hot pot places. It's a little different from what I remembered about the one in SD, this one serves other apps. We went with the popcorn chicken and it was one of the best one I've tried! So crunchy. They even fry the skin. I do wish we can change the spice level, like have the chili powder like in boba shops. As for the hot pot, prices start around $20ish. I got the large Taiwanese house one and it came with everything. Lots of cabbage but lots of meats too. I liked all the meats except the intestine one and blood cake. Next time I'll ask without it. Great flavors! You can even add spice to it with the several sauces on the side. Service was friendly. Place was empty around 1-2. I love hot pot!! Now wish there's an all you can eat one.
On our way home I suddenly crave for Hot Soup. Usually, I stop by the Tasty Pot at Mira Mesa but I can't wait any more to have something warm in my Stomach. So we decided to try the TASTY POT in OCEANSIDE. Upon arriving I noticed the place was small but we still stayed because I know Tasty Pots are good. It was in October when we went and I believe it was their 1 year anniversary being open so they have that special that month that the third soup was half off. We ordered what we usually get which are : * CURRY FLAVOR HOT SOUP * SEAFOOD LOBSTER HOT SOUP *TAIWANESE SUPREME HOT SOUP All the soups were good, my Favorite is the THAIWANESE SUPREME HOT SOUP. We choose not to have them spicy so my Son can eat some of our soup too, there's spices anyway on the side you can add if you like them spicy. All are soups were as good as I expected, but I feel like the Mira Mesa branch had more amount of ingredients in their soup. But customer service wise this location all the staff are very nice and attentive. We will still make a stop here to eat since their food and service are good here.
The establishment was clean with plenty of seating. We made reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter was wonderful, very friendly, made us laugh, and so prompt with topping off our beverages. 10/10 service. The food! My boyfriend and I got the Taiwanese hot pot, it was full of goodies, the broth (medium) was packed with rich flavor. Perfectly spicy. I loved the baby octopus. I got the Thai hot pot (medium) again full of flavor, perfect kick of spice, and full of little goodies to find in each little corner. I loved about every little thing in it except the intestines but that's just not my thing. 10/10 I'm coming back.
I'm a regular at the Tasty Pot in Mira Mesa and happened to on the way home from LA. I was craving hot pot but didn't want to make a detour into Irvine as those restaurants are usually packed. I was originally thinking of going towards Mira Mesa for Tasty Pot but this location popped up on google maps and it is right off the freeway! A few details such as the bowls are slightly different but the taste is relatively the same. This tasty pot was exactly what I needed on my drive back to San Diego. The service was fast, friendly, and the restaurant itself is very clean and has plenty of seats. Since this does seem like a relatively new restaurant it doesn't have much of a clientele yet. So if you come here there probably won't be much of a wait.
I went during their grand opening a few months back. I can tell they were still getting things together with it. You order on your phone and it's pretty easy. They had most items like the other Tasty Pots do, this location didn't hit the spot for me like the Mira Mesa location does. My broth tasted a tad more bland. But again it might've been Grand Opening jitters. I'll re-review when I get a chance to go back! Overall it's still a solid hot pot place in North County.

I just love tasty pot, no matter which location! I am happy there is one in N. County, for real. The staff is fun friendly and very efficient. Same concept as other Tasty pots: order through your phone (or ask help if you need or don't have a phone). I love their appetizers, huge plus for the stinky tofu and MaLa spicy pot. Pots come fully loaded with veggies and meats. Flavors are great! Happy hours deals are great! Will definitely go back to try more. Place is clean. Plenty of parking. Recommended! read more

Not that many people at this location. Portion sizes are smaller than other locations I've been to. Not sure why. Rice was not hot. Bathroom is dirty. There is also a wilted orchid in there. Many soap dispensers (3), I wasn't sure which one to use lol. I like their sink and napkin decor. Service is pretty nice. Better than some locations but they seem a little slower. Other places are more fast paced. I guess because of the many incoming guests. read more
Came here around 11:40am on a weekday and the restaurant was empty. One other couple came in half an hour later, and that was it the whole time we were there. The restaurant decor is kind of simple but cute. It is clean and has a nice, clean gender neutral bathroom. They offer happy hour all day Monday through Friday with some very affordable appetizers and drinks. Service was good, we were checked on a couple of times to make sure everything was alright. The two of us chose to share a Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup Pot with a few add ons: taro, udon, and steamed dumplings. That was plenty of food, but I am sure some bigger eaters could finish one pot each. We ordered the Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup medium spicy and it was rather spicy already. It came with a very good variety of meat, seafood, tofu products, and vegetables. The soup base was very tasty and the ingredients were fresh. Food was really good and prices are very reasonable. I sincerely hope that their business will improve. read more

We are big fans of the Tasty Pot in Miramesa and we were excited when they opened one in Oceanside. Although they are the same franchise, the main dishes are the same but they do v do have many other options available. The great thing about the Oceanside location is they have a ton of appetizers, as well as Soju. Flavor of the pots are similar to Miramesa however, the pots in Miramesa have a little bit more flavor in my opinion. They do come close though, and are worth saving me a 45 minute drive to Mira Mesa. The owner is usually there and she's a very friendly lady, customer service is top-notch in this location, which is an advantage compared to the Mira Mesa location . This location is pretty clean and the atmosphere is decent, not over Classy or fast foodish. However, I don't like the you only get two napkins with your meal and have to ask for more. That always bugs me no matter where I go. All in all the Mira Mason location has a little bit better flavor in their pots, but the Oceanside location has better customer service with more appetizers and options available. Will definitely come in! read more

Honestly, I was so excited to come here when I heard a tasty pot opened in oside. I'm from SD and normally go to the location there, but I was visiting my grandma and brought her out to eat. Definitely disappointed in the service and how they handled things. We came for dinner on January 10th and were the 2nd table right after they just opened. We ordered all of our food way before any other tables came in yet I got my pot almost AN HOUR after it was ordered. They brought out one pot at a time and were giving multiple other tables their pots first even when they sat way after us. I was hoping to have a nice dinner with my grandma and cousin, but ended up eating at all separate times. By the time my pot came out my rice was cold and I was just not in the mood to eat anymore. I know they're a new business and all, but this wasn't even their grand opening. Not sure if I'll give them another chance when I'm in town. Anyways for food I would give it at 3.5/5 cus it wasn't horrible, but could have a more flavor in the soup. My grandma likes veggie soup so she liked her pot. My cousin got the beef pot and I got seafood. Wish we could've ate together tho. I'm so salty still. read more

I was looking forward to eating here being highly rated. But I was disappointed when I ordered the tomatoes hot soup. It came out with my specific order requests which is a plus, and she was very sweet. But my first muscle tasted off so I spit it out... I continued giving them a break because muscles are difficult to cook fresh for every customer. But it was the same case with the clams, the shrimp, the scallop too(I'm not sure what they were). I also ordered the pork on the side because I already felt like this dish was overloaded, and it was very thin, dry, and had no flavor. This is okay usually because it goes with the soup, but if you like your pork thick with some fat and flavor in your soup this is not for you. On the other hand I appreciated the setup of soy sauce, soy paste, and chili oil on each table in the gold, it adds a nice touch. The presentation with the fire is also very fun! The music was 2000s pop the whole time, if you like this, then this is for you. I just wish my seafood were fresher! Also... I don't blame her, but the hostess also sat at the back on her phone the whole time, I looked back 5 or 6 times throughout my meal, while there was nothing to do... this is understandable and I'm surprised I don't see this at other restaurants during slow times - I'm sure they just hide it better. read more

If you're looking for a place that serves individual hot pots in north county, this is the place! The ordering process is all done on your mobile phone/device. I was really happy with this one! Loaded with veggies and seafood! If you order this, I recommend 2 things: 1 - Put your lobster tail on one of those small black plates - that way you can really get at it with a fork and spoon! The lobster tail is meaty and delicious! You'll want to make sure you GET.IT.ALL! :) Just ask for the plate. 3 - Get an extra "bowl" (aka the white cup the rice comes in) to put your shells in. * Basil Popcorn Chicken. If you've tried the ones at Tapioca, these are very much identical! Good and addicting. * Iced Green Tea. So good and made fresh! It was complimentary when we arrived. My husband and I celebrated my birthday here last week. We were immediately greeted and seated. The place took over the old Chinese spot that was pretty popular. They have 1 veggie based soup but it's good enough! The healthy veggie soup comes with a ton of veggies, mushrooms, and glass noodles. We orders an extra side of tofu (PrOTeIN), udon noodles, and taro. We love taro so we dumped half in our soup and ate the rest like French fries dipped in their garlic soy sauce. The dish itself is pretty big. There's a lot of cabbage which I enjoyed. I can eat cabbage all day. The spice scale for Tasty Pot is a bit on the weaker side, in my opinion. I had to add more spice to it afterwards but overall it was very tasty. We enjoyed our meal and the service was really nice. Will be back again! read more

Newest location means no crowd (yet)! Same franchise, different owners. Oceanside does lack (good) Asian food and having a Tasty Pot begins to open up the (tasty) variety. I live in San Diego property and decided to drive 30+ minutes north (skipping the two closer locations) for the mere fact of having a better experience and bringing existence to light. And because it's also May Grey, perfect for "soup" weather. :: SERVICE :: Service was excellent! The owner came and explained everything and was happy to share the menu. The server was very friendly and quick to deliver. The restaurant wasn't packed at all except for other foodies video'ing and publishing to social media. :: ORDER :: (LUNCH SPECIAL) BEEF HOT SOUP ($18.50) - Napa, Beef Slices, Vermicelli, Enoki Mushroom, Taro, Tomato, Tofu, Tempura, Corn, Meatball, Kamaboko, Fried Tofu Skin, Imitation Crabmeat, Fish Cake, Clam, Cilantro, Scallion, Pork bone soup. Lunch special comes with a side and free sweet ice tea! I selected rice since there was already vermicelli in the pot. Presentation was spectacular! They added the fire to the bottom of my pot so the pot is constantly boiling, however I did have to put the fire out because it was hot and my food can over cook. My pot was definitely tasty! A lot of flavors and food added in and I quickly figured out my likes and dislikes. LIKES: everything b-u-t the meatballs, fish balls, and clams. Was not a fan of the chewy rubbery meatballs, fishy tasting fish balls (gag way too fishy), and the clams had a very pungent taste for me (I am not into seafood flavor in my Asian soups). But there were other items and flavors that outshined them! The thin slice meats were cooked perfectly with the broth and dunked in the sauce for the perfect savory bite. The 2 of 3 sauces that I mixed together to make crack sauce: soy bean sauce + garlic soy sauce. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Good spend for lunch! Worth my drive to North County! JABA APPROVED. Was excited to try this place after learning about them through Yelp and we finally got the chance today. We were greeted at the door and sat at a corner table. Our server explained that we needed to scan the QR code to go to the online ordering app. Not sure I understand the benefit of ordering via the app instead of just ordering through the server especially when it didn't appear that I could pay via the app (maybe you can, I just didn't see an option). We ordered the Sizzling Beef and the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup. The Sizzling Beef comes on a very hot cast iron plate. They added paper "guard rails" around the plate so you won't burn yourself. The entree had a huge wad of garlic butter sitting on top and at first, we thought it was an egg but once it melted you had to stir everything up. This is one of the most garlicky dishes I have ever tried and I loved it! For my plate, I ordered the Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup which comes out on a special table grill, which even had a flame underneath if you want it. I didn't find it necessary as the soup was already super hot. This dish was fantastic with ingredients that I've never had before like cuttlefish, blood rice cake, pork intestine, fuzhou fish balls and enoki mushrooms in a pork bone soup. It was delish and at the end it barely looked like I had a made a dent. It's a huge bowl and you will have leftovers. Service was great. Our lunches came with a free drink (water or green tea) which was nice. They do have beer on the menu too and I saw another table drinking shots that might have been sake. We all loved our food and can't wait to come back and try some other dishes. This is a great new addition to Oceanside. read more

This place is unique and crazy good. Come hungry because each hot pot can easily serve 2-3 people. The hot pot is a soup type of meal that consists of various vegetables and proteins. Mine had thin slices of beef, quail eggs, shrimp, mussels and scallops. The broth is savory and spicy. The place is small but super clean. The servers were friendly and helpful. 4.5 stars is what this place should get. I can't give it a five star because the music were a little loud and the selection of dipping sauce was limited and I had to ask for more napkins. Other than that, this place is definitely a hidden gem. It is a small restaurant full with friendly servers. What can I say about their food. It is simply TASTY. We ordered stinky tofu hot pot, Thai Tom yum, sizzling beef, and popcorn chicken. They were are good. The sizzling beef were delicious. If we weren't so full, we would order another one. read more

I loved this place! I grew up in the 626 ( Arcadia) and after a long rainy hike, this was just what I needed to revive my soul. The portions were huge, flavor on point, and spice level were perfect. I got the Taiwanese hot pot with medium spice level (9/10) and my friend got the Sichuan style hot pot which ran spicier so def level down (9/10). Would come back here in a heartbeat. service was great ( worker actually warned my friend about the spice level) and food came out quick. Gem in Oceanside. Ambiance is casual. My review is mainly for the service. Food was 3 stars, but an extra star for wonderful service. Which is what will make me come back. Food can be improved, bad attitudes, not so much. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I felt most welcome here and it was as though l was among family. I have had hot pot before but it was Little Sheep Hot Pot near Convoy which l believe is now closed down. And although they are similar in name (both hot pot establishments), that's about where the similarity ends. I was expecting it to be similar to my experiences but it wasn't as similar as I was hoping. Being that Little Sheep is my only prior experience with any hot pot, l knew to expect hot soup. Instead of it being cooked on a burner in the table, it is over a small flame which is completely covered by the pot. The bowl or "pot" here is much smaller than I was used to. I ordered the basic beef because the staff recommended it to me. I was tempted to try the creamy cheese type broth. Maybe next time. The beef broth, however, was sadly very bland. I do like that they have 3 little jars of condiments to add to your soup or any food you order. Unfortunately for me, someone switched the lids with the labels. So instead of adding a garlicky type of soy sauce to my soup, I unknowingly added chili oil. So that wasn't a happy experience. I like to try all the things when l go to a new place so I ordered the rice cakes and 2-3 types of noodles to see what l liked. The vermicelli noodles were good, and l also liked the ramen noodles (they all came hard and uncooked so you cook them in the soup). I really liked the chewy texture of the rice cakes but I've had them before and knew what to expect. They aren't for everyone. I appreciated them having a rose tea drink. I haven't found many places that serve a rose tea/boba in north county so it was awesome to see it here! I love how it seems that hot pot restaurants have a good selection of drinks. Often with boba, but not here due to some possible competition from another business in the shopping center also selling boba drinks. Which is unfortunate but understandable. The atmosphere is very casual. Cozy. Bright. I aim to return to try the cheese/milk broth at some point. Definitely a fun experience if you've never had hot pot before! read more
