There's quite a bit of waiting around for the candle to solidify before you decorate it. They have so many choices including different stones, glitter, and shells for decorating. I picked the sage fragrance for one candle and a more fruity scent, which I believe was the mango papaya, for the other candle. I also liked their birthday cake scent. I could see this being such a fun, unique activity for a date or bachelorette party.

Sometimes I go there with a purpose, like, I need a St Francis and a St Anthony candle, or maybe I need some Morocco oil. Other times I am a complete disaster and I go in and they ask If I need any help, to which I say yes, and tell them my issue. The staff always knows exactly what I need and is more than willing to help. Oftentimes they will offer you a blessing at checkout - Say yes and accept with gratitude. The blessing will bring you goodness and peace and probably whatever else you need. At the beginning of the Athenian Candles gives out catalogues and Christian calendars with purchase. Both are wonderful gifts. The catalogue has a lot of information about products you may not have been aware of. Parking right in front can be tough; it is Greektown. if you go a block or two away you will find likely a free spot.

Parking was pretty easy considering it's the holiday season. We had reservations and as we walked in, we were greeted immediately and checked it. They showed us to our workstation and settled in. The store is brightly lit and smaller if different fragrances. It was not over bearing and smelled nice. Our candle expert introduced herself to us and let us know the process. She was very nice and explained everything clearly. Through the process she was helpful with answering our questions or checked in on us. After mixing our scents into the melted wax, we selected our decorations. We left and were asked to return in 1 hour so the candles can harden. When we returned we decorated the candles. Overall, what a great experience. Candles ranged from $55 to $40 dollars to start and can go higher depending on options. You can also BYOB and or Food if you wanted to have a party!
