I love Tatte! I come here as the perfect place to work from home at. And also the matcha latte art lol. Literally is the highlight of every visit! Depending on who's there in the early mornings, the service is usually pleasant. My only complaint about this location is that I almost always have to clean the table I sit at because it wasn't clean-- and I get there right when they open. I want to like this place, but the service I encountered was very off-putting. I walked in shortly after they opened, the demeanor if the staff looked like they might be closed and no one was at the cash register. I asked if they were open and the woman replied with a smart-ass remark "Well, it's 7:02 and we open at 7:00, so we're open". "Yes" would have sufficed. I ordered breakfast and they brought it out. I had grabbed a knife and fork prior to sitting down. The server who brought the order out had silverware in a wrapped napkin, but rather than hand it to me, she went and got a napkin. Breakfast was good, but when I finished it felt like they were trying to get me out of there. The same server who walked across the restaurant to get a napkin rather than hand me the one she was holding came by, grabbed the plates, and then came by to grab what was left of my tea. They didn't need to turn the table, as I was the only person there. There was a DGAF attitude that seemed to permeate the staff, so I didn't say anything. For all the Tatte expansion jokes, the DMV area is always in need a communal all day pastry/coffee/breakfast chain, beyond traditional diners. First there was Pauls, then Maison Kayser. Let's hope Tatte fares better, it takes courage to venture into the suburbs--Falls Church, Reston, Fairfax, Annapolis, Rockville.... and attempt to maintain the same quality of service and food they deliver in DC and Boston. What is going well for Tatte is the consistent quality of pastries and coffee. The pistachio croissant tasted the same across the 5 or so locations we've tried it at including this newer Falls Church location. So does the house latte, the almond croissant, the pricey nutella cookies, the shakshukas, the broccolini and squash hummus pita, and the little halva tea cakes. Service at Falls Church has been good the two times we've visited. Yes, there have been. overwhelming and slow service holiday weekends at Clarendon and a couple DC locations but not so far at Falls Church. read more

Great location for a quick breakfast pastry or brunch item. Fortunately, when we arrived they weren't busy and were helped quickly, but the majority of open tables and chairs were dirty with pastry crumbs. Took us a few minutes to flag down the incredibly friendly staff member to clean the area. read more

Excellent service. I came here recently on a Saturday afternoon for a latte and a pastry. I enjoy the wide open layout, the color scheme, and the overall relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, and it was very clean. Laptop friendly with plenty of outlets to get work or studying done. Wide assortment of pastries and healthy bites like soup, fresh salads, and sandwiches sort of fare. Highly recommend. read more

Aw I'm amazed at this new Tatte Bakery & Cafe... my eyes and mouth started to salivate looking at the baked bread and desert choices (see image)... as first visit I'm trying the Croissant Breakfast Sandwich (added a bacon), Coffee Caramel Mousse, and the 12 oz. Hot Chai Latte (see second image). Everything came out to $28.60 which seems appropriate for the amount portions and quality of the pastry. The ambient of the coffee shop is very spacious, modern French bistro with coordinating mid century community booths. They have ample seating as the kiosk and food bar with the very eye catching displays and placed right in the center of the Cafe which is a new floor plan. There's a bar seating surrounding the back side of the centered kiosk and there's an entire outdoor bistro seating outdoor that could easily accommodate 30+ customers. It's good that hours open at 7:00 A.M. daily and it is in the corner space directly across Founders Row (shop right across Taco Bell in West Falls Church). The wall to ceiling windows literally fill the space with so much organic lighting and each seating has spacious distances from one another. I'll definitely come back here to Tatte Bakery & Cafe to try the other food, desert, and tea selections... there's too many to chose from in just your first visit. Park in the free indoor garage right towards the left of the building. It's a great location; to me better than Godfrey's down the street. read more

Tatte it's definitely my favorite coffee shop. I go at least three times a week and because of that I've tried plenty of them, including the original one in Boston . but today I came to the Falls church location just to get a simple iced coffee and the service was so outstanding that I had to write a review .everybody was so kind. The restaurant seemed to be functioning very smoothly. Everybody was doing their absolute best and it was just so nice to see. Absolute smashing breakfast! Amazing pastries and main plates. Service is fast and friendly. Ambience is amazing with indoor and outdoor seating. Pups welcome! Latte was superb. The sesame seed bagel was the best I've had and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Prices are DC average which means 45 dollars for 2 at breakfast. The pastries are other worldly. I had breakfast here this morning with my dad and brother who just flew in from California for the weekend. We were first timers and delighted by the presentation of pastries and bread. The menu is extensive to meet everyone's fancy. We all were excited by the shakshouka and ordered that - my dad also ordered oatmeal. He orders oatmeal whereever we go and he states that "this is the best oatmeal I have had" it comes fresh with seeds, blueberries and apricots. I ordered croissants and a hot chocolate to go. I've been a tatte fan since the very beginning of my DMV adventures. When a new location pops up I have to try it. Although this location has not been open long, the service did not disappoint. I saw crowds there on the other day, so my friend and I liked to try it. We had Chocolate Croissant and Cinnamon Roll (morning bread). Both were good but nothing really special. We also order two decaf latte. The store was well decorated and spacious. Floor tiles were pretty and lighting was nice too. The person who took our order was not that friendly. He was busy on both taking order and making some coffee. He went somewhere while taking our order. No smile on his face. I wish he was happy with his job. Updated from 5 to 3.5 stars: I did enjoy my first visit here. My coffee and pastry were good. We had no problem finding a quiet seat. The staff are very friendly. The manager is impressive, But by my second visit, I began to feel some of its disadvantages. This Tatte is smaller than the one in Arlington, so by later in the morning it was almost full (although I did manage to find a table for two). And the garage parking system is just terrible. Park on or near S West St. if possible. If you do have to use the garage, scan the QR code on one of the green posts, keep your camera open to that webpage, note your license plate number, go inside Tatte, and ask for help from a staff member registering your self for 3 hours free parking. read more

(November 2025) This location opened earlier this month (or sometime late last month), and already I've been here a few times (mostly online orders for takeout). So far for food between my wife and I, we've had the grilled cheese (with and without the the short rib), the croque monsieur, the tomato soup, and the chicken & vegetable soup. For pastries, we've had the morning bun, the sour cherry cheese danish, the monkey bread, the brownie, the halva chocolate cookie, the chocolate croissant, the blue & blackberry cheesecake, and the coffee caramel mousse. For drinks, we've had the London fog, latte, ice tea, and their drip coffee. Every item has been solid, and the staff has been friendly and attentive. The space is clean with lots of seating. Since we live in the area and parking is not a hassle (underground parking garage), we hope to keep coming back. read more

A really nice and clean interior, with high-quality food and welcoming staff. We live in the neighborhood and got a chance to come in and see the location before its official opening in a few days. The interior is similar to all the other Tatte locations, but a significant upgrade for what was previously a Rite Aid before the new apartment buildings were built and will fill a void that Falls Church has been lacking; Godfrey's and Northside Social have been moving in this direction, but this is a different vibe and will help the west side of the city. Food was good that we got to try - shakshukah seems to be a specialty and was delicious, and the multiple fun types of coffee had something for everyone (pistachio lattes seemed to be a hit). Overall a really good first experience, which will likely be the first of many for us. read more

Bad service. Arrived when they closed in 5 minutes so we asked if we buy something can we eat inside. They said yes. Then after we pay they say they close in 3 minutes and that we can eat inside if we finish in 3 minutes. Sad experience. read more

Forgotten order, dirty forks, and they don't care. Wife and I went for dessert after dinner, ordered a slice of cake and a cookie. The guy gave us a table number and asked for my name. We took a seat and got nothing for ~15 minutes before I went asking about it. I told someone I'd been waiting for my order and thought it might have been forgotten about. He said he'd come over to the table. I thought he meant he'd bring the order over, no, after 5 more minutes he came over and asked, 'now, what was it you wanted?'. I told him (again) that we never got out order. He asked us what it was, despite seeing the table number. After another few minutes he came back with pie, a cookie, and forks that he handed us directly. Had he stuck around for a second he would have seen us both be disgusted by the sticky goo that was on both of the fork handles he gave us. Nope. I brought them up to the counter and handed them to him and said that they were dirty and it was disgusting. Another employee went to hand me other ones from the same bin, but I opted for ones that were wrapped in napkins rather than from the bin full of dirty forks. After we both washed our hands, we noticed the order he brought was actually wrong - we ordered cake, not pie. My wife went up and got the right thing. The worst part was that none of the employees cared that they messed up (including what are probably health code violations). Not a single sorry or any indication of caring was evident. 'Sucks to be you' was more like the attitude we got. We had such high hopes for this place as it is a 10 minute walk from our house. They weren't even busy either. Won't take many experiences like that before they shut down. Bad. Updated to three stars because of two good experiences in the morning. read more

I have been here twice now and have absolutely loved it. Fantastic coffee drinks that are the best I have had since my trip to Italy. Really don't understand the low rankings this place has gotten. Sure it is not as quick as Starbucks but you are getting way better quality food and drink. Lovely decor and helpful staff doing their best while constantly slammed. read more

Also I noticed several tables people left their dishes behind instead of putting them back in the boxes as they're leaving. The nicest staff I've experienced. I went to their soft opening on my break and I didn't know they were reservation only for friends and family. However, the host, Matthew Lasek, took my information and let me in. I met Mr. Tomas the coffee legend and he took my order and offered complimentary pastries.
