I am so excited that Underdog is expanding beyond its original Annandale location, as I love their clean aesthetic and delicious drinks and food. The new location, next to REI in Bailey's Crossroads, might be a new favorite for me. First, the shop is easy to get to and clearly visible from the road. The inside seating area is huge, and it's not hard to find a comfy seat, where the Annandale location can feel a little cramped on a busy day. I ordered an Ube coconut latte, which arrived at the counter super fast, and was delicious and refreshing with the perfect level of sweetness. Currently the menu looks the same as the other location, but I have read that the long term plan is for each cafe to have some unique signature items on the menu. I'm really looking forward to coming back and seeing how this evolves. Be sure to check out the merch section, which is always cute, and includes some items I haven't seen at the other site, like tiny stuffed dachshunds. Adorable!!

I I was so excited for this new location and it delivered!!! The space was so clean and had plenty of seating compared to their old location. Their coffee was great, as usual. I got the honey cinnamon latte and it was perfect!!!! I definitely will be back. The staff are very sweet and I got plenty of work done because it was so quiet in there. Highly recommend!!!

This is a gorgeous new space in Bailey's Crossroads. Ordered the Copper's breakfast sandwich and pistachio cold brew, both were delicious I'd order both again. Service was fast although it wasn't very crowded when I went mid morning on a Wednesday.

Literally the cutest coffee shop in this immediate Baileys Crossroads ever! Customer service 10/10 and the banana latte is by far the best latte I've had in a while! This is actually second time coming for one! The sausage egg and cheese is good too! Little pricey but worth it and it seems they use fresh ingredients!

Underdog Coffee & Bread's new Falls Church location at 3511 A Carlin Springs Rd, next to REI, features a spacious, modern setting with a large, pet-friendly patio. The interior is bright, stylish, and very spacious, decorated with dog-themed ornaments and merchandise. The outdoor patio is large and welcoming to pets. Its friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for enjoying a delicious breakfast or brunch with excellent coffee, an afternoon coffee break, studying, working, or socializing. The staff is friendly and efficient. I found every aspect of this café truly charming. Here are some must-try treats I highly recommend: - Apple Turnover: A fluffy Danish filled with flavorful apple compote that isn't overly sweet and pairs beautifully with their signature coffees like Peanut Cream Latte and Butterscotch Latte. - Philly Bagel was unexpectedly good, not looking or tasting like a traditional Philly steak sandwich, but very tasty, with thick tomato chive cream cheese and bacon for added texture. - Crogel Sandwich, a hybrid of a flaky croissant and a chewy bagel--savory, buttery, and delicious, with a pleasing texture.

Underdog Coffee & Bread has quickly become one of my favorite coffee spots in Northern Virginia. I've visited both locations--the original Annandale shop on Columbia Pike and their new Falls Church location--and they've been fantastic every time. The coffee is creative, unique, and consistently excellent. Today I had the Black Sesame Latte, which was rich, nutty, and unlike anything else around. On a previous visit, I tried their Banana Matcha, made with an entire banana blended into the drink, and it was absolutely incredible. The food deserves just as much attention as the coffee. Their breads and pastries are outstanding, and the sandwiches are on another level. Today I had Teddy's No. 1 on brioche, loaded with sausage, egg, cheese, tomato, and arugula. Every ingredient tasted fresh, and the buttery brioche tied everything together perfectly. While the Falls Church location doesn't have their famous Crogels available just yet, don't let that stop you. I've had the Crogel before at their Annandale location and it's incredible. The sandwiches alone are worth the trip, and honestly, I haven't had a bad thing here yet. The Falls Church shop is still in its soft opening phase, so now is the perfect time to check them out before the crowds catch on. Great coffee, amazing food, friendly staff, and a menu that's anything but ordinary. Come for the coffee. Stay for the sandwiches. You'll be glad you did.

First I was greeted by a customer while I was reading the outside sign on a pumpkin spicy latte, a customer that was leaving stopped and turned and explained it was everything and do good and if I have not, I must as they put actual pumpkin puree inside not just that pump pump stuff. So I was sold walking in. Next up was home made cookies making ice cream sandwich's by the front door. before I could even get through the line to the front, I was greeted with more baked goods, cupcakes, scones, macroons, dog biscuits - normal biscuits! So I went to town ordering a variety being asked by my lil and my inner child. While sipping on my now, pumpkin spiced latte from here, I saw actual meals being served and I missed out on ordering sandwiches from the back :( Something I will be coming back for! I did get up and order more things, like a fall inspired cookie ice cream sandwhich, all alone by itself in a sea of other flavors, I had to rescue it. And the sour macrons! When did that become a thing??? They were so good and perfect for our movie night later that day. I'm very happy to have stumbled across this find.

This place is interesting because they have essentially three different menus along with a bakery…read morethat I believe is open all day with a variety of interesting baked goods. They have a breakfast/brunch menu, a daytime/lunch menu, and an evening menu and you can watch them preparing items in the kitchen. You can either eat inside or outside on the patio, and they have heaters for the cooler days. We came here to get some baked goods mid-afternoon and they still had a good selection. The bear claw was large and tasty with an enjoyable cinnamon flavor and the lemon meringue croissant was unique and enjoyable as I'd never had a croissant with lemon meringue filing. They weren't cheap but they were tasty and enjoyable. I did want to mention they have parking but it's hit or miss on getting a spot since it can get crowded so walking might be easiest if you live nearby. I'll come back here again for a meal and to try some other items on their menu.

I really wanted to love this place…read more My family and I chose to come here for Easter because it's dog-friendly -- which felt like the perfect combination for us. They even have a dog menu, and the patio setup is honestly beautiful. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and aesthetically on point. The staff greets you right away, and first impressions were genuinely great. We chose to sit outside on the balcony so my puppy could join us, and that space alone is worth noting -- fire pits going, cozy atmosphere, just really well done. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We ordered food for all of us, including my daughter and my puppy. My food and my puppy's food came out fairly quickly, but my daughter's meal never arrived. After waiting quite a while, I had to flag down the waiter, only to be told -- after the fact -- that they didn't even have what she ordered. At no point before that did anyone communicate this. So now she has to reorder, and we're waiting all over again while the rest of us are already eating. When her food finally arrives, there's no silverware. Just... dropped off with no thought to the fact that she actually needed utensils to eat. We also ordered lemonade, which was great -- but when the waiter offered to bring more after the issues, it never came. To try and make up for things, they brought out a dessert that looked beautiful, but when we asked what was in it (due to food sensitivities), the waiter had no idea. He eventually came back with an allergy sheet, which felt like an afterthought rather than informed service. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. Instead, the waiter told me, "I just got out of trouble -- what can I do to make this right?" That response alone was incredibly off-putting and unprofessional. We ultimately just had my daughter's meal removed from the bill and decided to move on. Even my puppy's waffles -- which was one of the things we were most excited about -- came out slightly burnt. Overall, the lack of communication, poor follow-through, and disorganized service completely overshadowed what could have been a great experience. It's disappointing because the space and concept have so much potential. Unfortunately, I can't overlook the service issues.
