This restaurant is fantastic. My husband booked it for our second wedding anniversary and it was a great treat. The service is wonderful - they brought us a complementary glass of Prosecco, anniversary note, and everyone was lovely. The food is delicious, you really cannot go wrong with anything. The pineapple bread is AMAZING. Chicken was really fresh and good. Chocolate cake dessert was also wonderful. One really nice thing about this restaurant is that you could order from both the happy hour menu and the à la carte menu or just one person in your party can do the prefix option without making everyone else do it. The flexibility is really nice and it allows you a lot of different options to enjoy the food. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good restaurant. The host at the front were friendly at first, but when I asked for a seating change, they seemed annoyed, a few other parties also asked the host for different tables. The restaurant is super clean and in a cute little neighborhood of restaurants with a free parking garage, which is nice. The staff and service was excellent. I definitely think the level of service matched if not exceeded the style of food that they are giving. They cleaned our table in between meals and gave us new silverware in between each course and constantly refilled our water. Now the pricing for what you actually get, I would say is not that great however I know I think this is considered fine dining so you get what you get. The salad was extremely fresh and had really good quality, lettuce and toppings. We got the bread for two however a little bit disappointed because it was one slice of focaccia and one roll per person, I feel like for nine dollars they could give you a little bit more for your money. The bread was good, but I don't think I would order it again. I got the short rib and I absolutely love getting short rib whenever I go to a restaurant, it was extremely tender and well cooked however, the dish was very salty. I'm not sure if it was just my batch, but it just felt like there was way too much salt in the dish overall, and this is coming from someone who loves savory dishes. My fiancé got the chicken sandwich and the fries were pretty good and the chicken was really well made on the sandwich however, I feel like for the price that you pay at this restaurant they would do hand cut fries or something a little bit more elevated than their type of french fry they used. The biggest letdown I think was the chocolate cake, I absolutely love chocolate cake, but it definitely missed the mark for me. The consistency of the cake was like cake that was cold in the fridge and needed to be thawed. However, it was room temp and not actually cold. I wish that it was a little bit more moist but the cookie crumbs on the outside of the cake was incredible and I think that they should try to incorporate them into the actual cake. Overall, a really cute restaurant that is pretty unique and while some dishes weren't my favorite they got a pretty high score because the service and cleanliness exceeded my expectations. Great brunch spot, perfect for large groups in the back room! My friend hosted a baby sprinkle and there cute custom menu with printed with her daughter's name! The brunch came with beer/wine and I enjoyed a glass of Brut and Pino Grio. While I thoroughly indulged in the brunch, the staff was very kind and really went the extra mile. My 3 year old son was starting to turn into a sugar feign and knocked over a wine glass. The staff was super nice and quickly cleaned it up and comforted me. We were a party of 8 for brunch and really enjoyed our time at Ellie Bird. We weren't rushed, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We could actually hear each other as the room had great acoustics. It's important when you're getting together with family that you haven't seen in a while that you can all enjoy each others company with the great food and that we did. However, the service has fallen short for us during dinner for one reason and one reason only: they make you order everything at once. Food: As I mentioned, Ellie Bird's food is excellent. I think everything is always well-seasoned, the dishes creative, and always a good selection. I don't think there's a dish I haven't enjoyed, either on the dinner or brunch menu. Service: This is more of an issue at dinner, but Ellie Bird requires you to order everything at once. I understand why restaurants do this, but it drives me crazy, especially when my husband and I are looking to pair wine(s) with our food. We've been in too many situations where the food has just come out too quickly for us to do that. This most recent time at Ellie Bird, we wanted to split one appetizer, then each get salads, and then mains, and I believe I conveyed this quite clearly to our server, but I guess not as the server brought out my husband's salad and the appetizer. So, my husband just left his salad while we split the appetizer. It's not a huge deal (at least a salad is cold!), but once again, we wanted to pair (different) wines with both the app and our salads, so the restaurant lost out on a wine sale there. Other than this issue, which again stems from the order-all-at-once thing, service is generally attentive and they are very good about refilling water. We came here for our anniversary dinner and loved it. When we heard it was the same owners as Rooster and Owl, one of our favorite restaurants, we knew we had to come. They had a little note on our table when we got there! Our waitress was very nice and gave some good suggestions. 2 things worth noting: 1) It wasn't super fancy and felt a lot more casual than a typical nice restaurant (not a negative) 2) wine Wednesday! Free glass of wine with any entree, and the wine was delicious! The standouts were basically everything we got, it was all incredible. The pineapple buns were some of the best bread I've ever had and the grilled asparagus had a perfect charred flavor. The hamachi collar donburri was so fun and delicious, and the ragu with the added bone marrow was so rich and delicious. The peanut butter chocolate tart was also one of my favorite desserts ever. Some of the tables were even in bird cages. I started off with the Ellie Bird Latte with has Ube in it. It was very good and not very sweet. For my main course, I got the soft scramble French omelette. Personally, I just didn't really like it. The texture of the omelette was weird to me and it didn't have much flavor. The potatoes tasted a bit off to me. I also got the unlimited pancakes for $5, which I would do again. The pancakes are really fluffy and not too sweet. What a treat! My sister and I came in, and from the entering with a friendly smile by the host, to the general manager, our waiter, busser and chefs.. all were on point. We shared the Vietnamese oxtail French onion soup (ya'll ORDER THAT SOUP!), the duck lumpia lettuce wraps and the rigatoni. But it was the wraps, and soup that were our top favs out of the three. Vietnamese French onion soup was the most flavorful French onion soup I've ever had. My sis also had a cocktail which I think had passion fruit in it? She really enjoyed that too. Yeah not great. I've been here before and it was really nice, much better in fact than my experience at the their starred sister restaurant, Rooster and Owl. Our dinner generally sucked. The servers seemed to be tag teaming which is fine, but it made getting service tricky. Our lead server spoke at warp speed, with an accent, quietly in a very loud room. We were at a long table and he only ever spoke from one side of it, so whatever he was saying half of us didn't hear. The food was disappointing. Soup was served lukewarm. Salad was like three pieces of citrus and some random big chunks of greens. Short ribs were just grey/cooked to death and covered in a sickly sweet gochuchang thing they called "galbi sauce." Brozino was fine, but a very small portion. Probably the most annoying thing was them clearly trying to use up Valentine's Day left overs. The chocolate cake was literally lopsided. The bowl of ice cream was frozen rock solid at the bottom. I can't tell what the deal is with this place. They're very inconsistent and way overpriced. The pastry basket was heaven. I loved every pastry on there, from the Portuguese egg tarts (I am Chinese and these are legit), to the savory spam & cheddar scone, and to the tasty white chocolate muffin. The frosting to the wild blueberry and cinnamon roll was a bit too sweet to my liking but my husband enjoyed it thoroughly. Our kids loved their pancakes. Ellie Bird is doing a lot of things right. It all starts with the owners, Carey and Yuan Tang, who also own Rooster & Owl (a Michelin-starred restaurant that I'm ashamed to say I haven't tried). Ellie Bird is a more affordable restaurant with cuisine geared toward people of all ages, and if you spend three minutes on their website you'll note that it does scream fun and family-friendly. It even includes pictures of the staff and their children, including the titular Ellie (Carey and Yuan's daughter). On top of all that, children eat free on Wednesdays (they clearly don't know how much my daughter can eat). This is a borderline five-star restaurant, and I may bump my score up in the future. The breads, particularly the R&O pineapple buns, are a home run. I've also had a great time with the Fennel Rigatoni and the Miso Black Cod, with the latter showcasing what they do best: fusion cusine, particularly American and Asian concoctions. Brunch was quite good but it was less successful. The tornado omelet is appealing to the eye, but I did not get any runny explosiveness upon cutting it open (a silly critique, I know haha) and more importantly I thought the whole dish was underseasoned. Even the kimchi fried rice lacked the big acidic pop I wanted. The vibes of this entire development are just solid and there is endless parking in the adjoining garage. Come to Ellie Bird and build in some time to go to Semicolon or another place in the neighborhood while you are there. read more

My wife and I and daughter had our Valentine's day dinner here 2 days after Valentine's day, and everything about it was great. The dinner starts off with bread, which was warm, soft with some oil and butter. A great way to wet out appetites. My wife and daughter ordered the prix fixe menu, and I had the steak. The first round which we shared, we had Yellowfin tuna tartare, an order of yucca tots and duck lumpia. Both were excellent, I particularly enjoyed the duck lumpia with its peanut hoisin sauce. The yucca tots were wonderful with the 2 sauces that it comes with, one had a bit citrus and the other a bit spicy. For the main course, I had steak, my wife had the pork presse pozole. All were very good. This might be a nitpick because 2 days ago I had A5 Wagyu steak which was melt in your mouth incredible, this was not as good, but then again what can compare to A5 wagyu? For dessert we shared the Rachel's chocolate chai buttercream cake and the black forest sundae. We celebrated our anniversary with Ellie Bird and the whole experience from beginning to end was *chefs kiss*. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and despite a 10-15 minute wait to get seated, the hostess apologized and promised to grab us something for our troubles. There was a little wreath and an anniversary card on the table with some chocolates and we were immediately given a pastry basket and some biscuits (with some very delicious honey butter, may I add ). We ordered Pineapple Bun Sliders, Tornado Omlette, Ellie Bird Latte, and the Unlimited Pancakes option. All were quite good, the only small complaint I had was the Tornado Omlette was very oily at the bottom of the plate. Overall, I would've wished the flavors in all of the dishes were a little bolder but everything was solid. What made this place a 5 star was the amazing service. From beginning to end, we were well taken care of by all of the staff, and to help celebrate our anniversary, they even brought out complimentary champagne to celebrate us. If you're looking for very well done food but don't want to go into DC, this is a great choice. We had the Pan con tomate, rigatoni with bone marrow, miso cod, yucca sticks, a soft drink and a NA beer. Overall the food was delicious. I recommend the fennel rigatoni but skip the bone marrow - it added nothing to the dish and ours was all bone, no marrow (one piece). The food itself is close to a 5 but the portions to prices give this a 4. The miso cod ($42) in particular is a very small piece of fish. You really need an appetizer and entree per person at minimum, at least in our experience, and I typically always end up needing a to-go box. We sat at the kitchen counter and it was fun watching the chefs and how they run their kitchen. We hope to come back and give brunch a try! read more

Fresh juices were good. Kimchi Bloody Mary wasn't bad. Wasn't sure what to expect, so nice surprise. Onion soup was a bit pricy for what was served. Definitely should have been served hotter. The guests in my group didn't want to send it back since the portion of the soup was so small. They thought it should have been an appetizer item, not entree. Kimchi fried rice, omelette, and pancakes were all very tasty. Didn't give four stars since the soup was like warm, greens and potatoes with the omelette could have been a bit more as well. Making a reservation online was easy and they sent instructions for parking ahead of time which was thoughtful and helpful. The staff were welcoming and very attentive. They gave us great suggestions for several items on the menu. We ordered several dishes which were adequate enough to share with several people. Even got a cute little mochi waffle with a candle for the birthday queen! There's a kids menu which includes the unlimited pancakes.
