On DoorDash I ordered the Avocado Tartine thinking it would b just like the photo with lots of avocado but instead there's barely any on the bread: just loads of arugula. Waste of money. The Breakfast Sandwich was disappointing as well with the cheese melted into the sides of the bread without any to eat with the other ingredients. It's almost as if it was thrown together. I wouldn't recommend ordering either dish as a delivery. Ingredients were fresh but the staff can do better with their care in preparation. I had an amazing experience here. I ordered a pistachio latte and the lamb hash. It's self serve. You order when you come in and grab and number and someone brings it to your table. You rarely find a restaurant where you're entire meal was great. The lamb was tender and the herbs were fresh. There is a bakery there so even my toast tasted like a delicacy. I was really disappointed in this place. We came in on a weekend and the place was PACKED. Absolutely every seat was taken and the line wrapped around the counter. We waited an appropriate amount of time to order. We both got a breakfast sandwich , a pistachio latte and an iced chai latte. The iced chai was comepletlet watered down and tasted like barely spiced milk... the breakfast sandwiches looked good presentation wise but tasted blah. I ordered muesli (Swiss breakfast cereal made from raw rolled oats, nuts, seeds, and dried fruit, often soaked overnight in milk or yogurt), but they didn't include a bag or a spoon. Unimpressed with the carelessness in how my sandwich was packed. I ordered the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich to go withy egg fried MEDIUM and when I got home to eat my meal this is what it looked like. The yolk had been broken which left the bottom bun to get sticky and soggy. The top bun either slid off or wasn't placed on the sandwich but it too was laying in yolk and soggy in certain parts. For the price of the sandwich I wish they took better care in the quality of the presentation of their to go packaging of food. read more

It's a Tatte so you always know you can expect above average food in a lovely white and black space. The pastries are great and the coffee selection is abundant. I would not say that this is my favorite coffee spot in the city, but for the location it cannot be beat. They have such a wide variety of menu items that I can take any of my friends to. I have only come here for coffees, but people always seem to get food. Their lattes are above average on costs and average on price. I would say that this has more of a community feeling than some of the other locations because it seems to be a meeting point for so many people. You always see people working at their laptops or groups with their dogs outside on the weekends. You are greeted with the warm smell of food and pastries before the kind staff, but people do seem to be happier here than some of the more downtown locations. read more

I had a work meeting here today and was satisfied, as I always am with Tattes. Tattes in general have a lovely pastry section and drinks that are on point. This Tatte is notable for being larger than average with an excellent amount of seating for parties of two, three, or four spread out inside and just outside on the patio. The patio also has umbrellas for particularly hot days. Service at this Tatte is slower than I'm used to. I ordered one of their specialty sodas (fig) and my guest ordered a flat white. Both were out in ~18 minutes. I will return here for more business meetings in the future. read more

Ordered a chicken salad and a 16oz soup for pickup during my 45-minute lunch break. The place was packed, and the line looked like a 15-20 minute wait--so I ordered online. When I picked up my food, there was no bread with my soup or chicken salad. I asked an employee if it had to be ordered separately, and she said yes. So I left without bread since I had a very short window. Back at the office, I checked the website and saw that the soup does come with a roll. So, lesson learned: don't be fooled by "chichi" places. My first impression was a little disappointing--but to be fair, the food and drink were good, so I might give it another try. read more

This Tatte location just recently opened, and it's just as amazing as all of their other locations! The food, coffee, and pastries are all delicious and super high quality. Today I ordered the salmon and avocado tartine which was super tasty and more filling than I anticipated. The sourdough was airy and you could tell it was fresh. Loved my iced vanilla latte too. The space is gorgeous and the best part is that there's a TON of seating. This place is great for grabbing brunch or getting work done. Not every seat has an outlet, but I was able to snag one pretty easily. The wifi is fast too! The staff were really nice and attentive as well. Overall, no trip to DC or Boston is complete without a trip to Tatte. I wish they'd open a location in Brooklyn!! read more

Left this location feeling frustrated and disrespected. We ordered a salad, sandwich, and two coffees. My coffee was delivered to the wrong person, but they remade it without issue. The real problem was with the salad. It came out missing the chicken, so we asked if they could put chicken on it. About 15 minutes later, the server set down a salad that he admitted was taken off another table where a group of people had been sitting. When questioned, he said it was a mix-up and that "to his knowledge they didn't touch it." We asked for a refund on the salad, but the manager argued with us and pressured us into letting them make another one to go. While we waited, the staff openly mocked us for asking for a new salad. The manager in particular stood out as one of the most condescending and unfriendly people I've dealt with in a restaurant. For someone working in hospitality, the way she handled the situation was shocking. read more

I had noted with interest the "Coming Soon" sign when I was in DC this spring. I was very happy to note that it had opened during our most recent Christmas visit. We stepped in on our way back from the grocery store for a coffee and ended up bringing back a Gingerbread Loaf. For $40, it was a HUGE loaf that easily had about 12+ slices. It was a true lifesaver, when we realized too late that the Christmas pudding I had ordered from Fortnum & Mason would take 2 hours to steam. So, Christmas Eve dessert was a lovely slice of Gingerbread loaf! Staff were so nice and friendly. I am definitely coming back for other pastries the next time I'm in town. read more

I asked to change out one bread for another on a sandwich that was not premade and both the cashier and the "manager" were unaccommodating even though this change has been made at other locations. Very disappointing. Will avoid this location in the future. Again this location was not as clean at the other locations and definitely not as nice. Friend treated me to breakfast in Bethesda at Tatte. The locks on toast was delicious. Almost didn't miss the fact it wasn't a bagel & locks with cream cheese. House coffee was just ok. Service in this crowded spot kept the line moving and the atmosphere was lively. This was my first but not my last. I always enjoy a Tatte experience. This location is very close to my house so stopped in on a whim and grabbed an iced vanilla latte. The coffee was very tasty--not too overly sweet. I didn't try any food on this visit, but I've had their baked goods before and they're pretty good. They seem to have a decent amount of seating here, but the place is always packed. There was a line to order and then about a 10-minute wait to get the drink. Glad it's in the neighborhood! This is my preferred location as it doesn't seem as crowded or busy as others in DC. Solid spot for brunch, coffee and pastries. I had the pistachio croissant and latte on my last visit - coffee was good and the croissant was alright, not very sure it was worth $5 even if it was tasty. Seating is spaced out and they have a larger outdoor patio. No clear line and if you're entering from the other door (not main) you have to walk diagonally to the register. No clear direction on where to go for coffee pick up. Accessible seating and entrance - love to see it! They have adorable burlap bags for their gift cards, which is great to know for this upcoming holiday season! read more

Had an amazing experience at the new Tatte location! There is SO much seating indoors and outdoors, the space is massive, and the food is top tier as always. The service is speedy and friendly -- you order at the counter and your food is bought to your table. I've seen a couple of the tatte cafes around the city and had been so eager to try one when finally I had the opportunity. The location on 14th st is absolutely huge inside. Clean with lots of seating in and outside of the establishment with the wonderful views of the new NW dc. I grew up in this area and although I have seen lots of change it seems to be for the better and only wish I it happened while I was still living in the area. None the less this place has an extensive menu with lots to choose from and great quality unlike most cafes where I think they just have one burner and and microwave. The food is amazing with great fresh taste and variety. The pastries are not only just beautiful to look at but delicious to eat. The drinks were good and quite honestly I wish I could come here every week. Service was fine with the staff having knowledge on each item and giving recommendations. I was so excited when I saw that Tatte was opening a new location on 14th! I've been quite a few times since they've opened and it definitely is consistent with all the other DC and Boston Tattes I've been to. I usually just get an iced coffee, which they serve super quickly, but their lattes and matcha lemonade are great as well. I did try the cherry scone a few weeks ago, which was not the best texture, but otherwise all the food I've gotten has been good. I got the breakfast sandwich the other day and it definitely hit the spot - the sourdough bread was delicious and the sandwich was much more filling than I expected. The service is fine but not necessarily anything special. This location has a huge amount of seating, so it's great for working remotely or meeting a friend for coffee. read more

I'm a big fan of Tatte in general, having frequented the many around DC over the past few years. I've even lobbied local landlords to try and land a Tatte for this neighborhood. I was so excited when this one was opening within a few blocks of my house! I'm sad to report it's meh, and they have kinks to work out: The service is off - coffees take a long time and the whole thing is a bit disorganized and chaotic. The baked goods are actually bad, every one I've tried. I feel like this is very different than other Tattes... it's all tastes like overly dried out, ever-so-slightly flavored, processed bread. Very, very unlike my past experiences at other Tatte locations. This alone prevents me from coming in. The atmosphere is as good as any other Tatte, so can't knock that. Overall I'm glad it's in the neighborhood, I just hope they work out the serious kinks that are keeping me from coming in. Won't be back until they do. read more

Surprising that I had not yet reviewed any of these new Tattes. They are now all over the place. It has a bit of a Paul vibe, but less brown-tones and more black and white tiles, tall ceilings, ceiling fans, elegant labels for the pastries, elegant pastries themselves--and a pretty wide variety thereof. It seems that young laptop crowd has already caught on, and they occupy the many small round Parisian-style tables all around in the large space. The hot chocolate is actually very reasonable, I would even say great. And when I asked for extra-hot, they did bring me in fact extra hot--unfortunately that's fairly uncommon elsewhere. The food here is very overrated and majority of it is cold. The coffee, the eggs, the potato hash were all cold. I am convinced the potato hash has been sitting for a couple days. My mom's shakshuka was hot and watery- so watery that she could only eat it with a spoon as if it was a soup. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. I have spent $558.39 at this location since 06/23/2023 (1 month and 10 days). Today, the staff at this location told me to go to another Tatte location and not to come back because they did not get my take out order right and couldn't clearly explain to me what my expectations should be. And I got scoffed at for coming in to have my order corrected. The food is great and I like Tatte's concept. But what I got from the staff today was shocking. I have never come across something like this in my life, and I am not a young guy. I will take them up on their suggestion and not spend another dime at Tatte. There are too many other great restaurants with hard working proprietors and their staffs to need to come back to place that doesn't appreciate a customer. read more
