I love bluestone lane and like that this location is more of a formal sit down vs coffee shop feel like the others. You can stop in if you just want to grab coffee though! I know I can always count on their drinks being good! My favorites are the matcha latte (I think they have one of the best in the city) and the flavored lattes that are seasonal. Servers and staff was very friendly. I was quickly seated. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating options. One of the waiters quickly brought over some water for the table. I asked the server his recommendation between a couple of items. And I chose his recommendation, which was the lemon ricotta pancakes. I also ordered juice and coffee. I assumed cream and sugar would have been brought with it, but it wasn't. The coffee was brought in some sort of small jar. A carafe would've made much more sense. The carafe would've kept the coffee hot. The jar didn't do that. At least not with the lid. I had to ask two separate people on two different occasions for cream and sugar. By the time that got to the table, my coffee had gotten lukewarm. And by that time my food had just arrived to the table. Needless to say, I didn't drink much of the coffee. The food on the other hand was very good. If I had one negative thing to say about the food, it would be they served it in a skillet. Which wouldn't be a problem, except the pancakes were about the size of the skillet so it made eating the first portion of it a little difficult. I would think it would've been easier to eat if it was at a plate. While the staff was friendly, they didn't appear to be very attentive to the tables. Their main concern was seating and then bringing the food to the table. Once the food got to the table, then they moved on to another table. If somebody would have came back at least once then I could've asked for my coffee refreshed. Customer service is a big thing for me. It also affects your tip. Generally, somebody would come back after you've had your food for a few minutes to check to make sure everything was OK or if you needed something. Busy or not, you should never forget to check on your customers. And it doesn't matter how friendly you are because if you forget your customers, then you've lost sight of the goal. read more

Bluestone Lane West End Café: Decent Spot, But Service Was Off Bluestone Lane West End Café was just... okay. We stopped by to get some work done on our laptops, and for that, it served its purpose. We grabbed a few things, including some cake. When we asked the employee if the cake was fresh, he took it a bit personally, acting a little offended and saying "Of course, it's for today." Honestly, though, it didn't really taste that fresh. The seating area wasn't the most comfortable for settling in, but we still managed to get a good chunk of work done before the rush. Speaking of which, the place definitely starts getting busy after 9 AM, so go early if you want a quiet moment! Overall, we had a decent time and were productive, but the slightly awkward interaction about the cake and the lack of truly comfy seating knocked it down a peg. read more

We ordered breakfast online; were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. Two coffees and the full breakfast. We arrived at the 25-minute mark, and when you walked most of the tables were covered in dirty dishes. The young man at the register told us one of the coffees was ready, when he handed it to us it was luke warm, it had been sitting there for 25 minutes. We asked him if he could re-make it, and at first, he said, "well what did you expect? you ordered it 30 minutes ago!" Then he told us to reheat it and it should be fine; finally, he re-made it but couldn't find the simple syrup and was complaining the whole time that the other individual who was supposed to have shown up was too tired to come in because he'd been out until 4am. Waited another 10-15 minutes to get the breakfast and, and while waiting he counted all the money in the cash register, told another individual who did show up to work that they needed to clean tables because they weren't really doing anything, and complained again about how short staffed they were, and it wasn't fair; then he made the second coffee. I understand being short staffed can be incredibly hard, but don't take it out on the customers. The kitchen staff were doing their best to keep up with all the orders and from what we could tell they were doing great. The food was hot, unlike either one of the coffees at this point, and it was cooked as requested. I'm not looking for boiling hot coffee, but something resembling warm would be nice, if I wanted it cold, I'd order iced coffee. The coffee was great once it was hot, and the food was good too, but I think this location needs some help. read more

Bluestone Lane is amazing! My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while. We particularly were drawn to the fact it is Australian themed and founded by an Australian Footballer as Australia is our favorite country we have yet to set foot. My wife and I finally went for Sunday brunch before a matinee show at the Kennedy Center. The ambiance and decor is amazing and the service is fast and friendly. The food and drinks are also amazing. To drink we got the Bondi Blue and Berry Brekkie Smoothies, a large Cold Brew, and a large Melbourne Iced Tea. For food we got Banana Bread, a Soft Chili Scramble with Avocado and Brisket, and a Side Summer Salad. We look forward to certainly trying more food and drink items in the future. They also take InKind, but you have to let them know and they'll ask you to place an order as a take one in the app. We did not know this but the manager let us duplicate the order on InKind. read more

If you are a sweet person (lol) - you will love this place!! I think for me, based on what I ordered of course, the flavors of everything was slightly too sweet, which is why I have a 4 stars and not 5. Also, I wish there were more gluten free options, *however*, I am very happy they have at least some!! The ambiance is soooo cute - photo worthy for sure. So is the presentation of the drinks and food! Also, how can you not love that it is directly connected to a library?! Huge plus for me. At first the way ordering/seating went was slightly confusing for us (we didn't know whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated), however we eventually just sat ourselves and someone came up to us. Although, apparently you can also walk up to the counter and order and then sit! This is a beautiful cafe! We were here on a rainy afternoon, which was brilliant because the window walls helped us appreciate the outdoors while still feeling cozy. The cappuccino wasn't the best I've ever had and the cocoa dusting may have depleted the foam, but it was hot and the young person waiting on us was very considerate. Visited this location on a Wednesday afternoon on a very warm October day. I was immediately greeted and seated. I chose to eat outside because it was so warm. Came in for breakfast with a group of colleagues and the place was pretty empty. We found a table and ordered drinks all around and small orders for food like fruits and crossaints. The orders didn't come out at the same time and we had to track down waiter for status on some as some were done with drink and food whiich some had not had their drink. The coffee was ok and crossaint was ok. It was nice they were open but it's not a cafe I would seek out for any special reason.
