I showed as a walk in on a Friday night around 8:30. I was told there would be a short wait but since there was 5 artists working it should be a breeze. I ended up waiting an hour and a half until someone was able to take me. Wasn't sure if my name had been mistakenly crossed off the list or what had happened. Once they realized how long i'd been waiting someone took me quickly. Once I was taken, it was super quick! Frosty asked what I wanted and stormed up some options like design and size to help me figure out what I wanted. Tat took 5 mins from start to finish and Frosty knew I was nervous and that it was my first so he kept me talking the entire time. Got my first piercings and tattoo done. My piercings went great and my piercer was when giving me a run through on each of my piercings along with aftercare. The downfall was my tattoos, I don't leave reviews like this but my tattoo isn't what I wanted at all and I wasn't given the name of my artist but somehow what I wanted got lost for him and he ended up messing up on the details of my first tattoo. I got two tattoos done, the second one turned out better because he messed up on the first one he did and I made sure to be CLEAR on what I wanted done. I told him I wanted nothing filled in and only the outlines done of the designs I showed him and he still filled in my tattoo! I caught on early enough to save the design but the damage was already done. And before we started tattooing, He already deviated and kept putting down what I originally wanted; which was colored ink and said they wouldn't last in the long run, so I SETTLED for black and now what was supposed to be a crowned outline is, is now a black blob. I tried so hard to like it but I'm very unhappy with the outcome and I'll have it removed and redone. So if you get a tattoo from an older guy make sure you either watch his work or be very clear on what you want done before he puts the needle done. read more

I've been here twice as a walk in both times - once several years ago for a cartilage piercing and a couple of days ago for a nose piercing - and had great experiences both times. I was in and out both times, and both of the guys who did my ear and nose were very nice (I was very nervous both times) and were quick and efficient. My cartilage healed with no issues, and so far so good on my nose piercing! Will definitely continue to come back here for other piercings in the future, and maybe even a tattoo. This place is literally garbage. My boyfriend had an appointment at 2pm for a relatively small tattoo with Tommy. Why did we have to wait 3 HOURS just for him to say that he couldn't do it. He even said that he would be with us in an hour. Well that hour came and went. If he knew he overbooked, he should've let us know at the beginning that he couldn't see us today instead of wasting our time and having us wait around all day. You just don't waste people's time like that. On top of that, this place is ridiculously expensive and you get a shitty tattoo on top. My sisters and I went to Tattoo Factory yesterday to get our tattoos. The service there was amazing. We were met with a smile and all of our questions were answered. Because we wanted our tattoos to be smaller in size, we were given Antionio as our artist. He did a spectacular job! The details that he added into our simple tattoo were amazing. Went to this shop and got my name put on the list to wait for an artist. My piece I wanted was big but I was GUARANTEED it would be done today. After waiting 4hrs for my call back, I spent $20 for my Uber back to the shop. only to be told they can't do it. This place will find any excuse not to work so don't waste ur time In response to the owners answer... I did what I was told. I was a walk in and had my design reviews by an employee. I even asked if I needed to email or leave the picture for further review as I knew it was detailed. Your employee reviewed my picture multiple times and knew the size and assured me it will be done by the end of the day. After I was called back to the shop and rushed over, they told me they couldn't do the design. I told them they could make it less intricate and omit whatever need be to get it done as I didn't want my entire day of waiting to be a waste. They refused to help me out read more

On a Sunday night around 8pm I was bored and remembered I wanted to get a nose piercing. I moved nearby not long ago and saw them a few times when I drove by and decided to just go on a whim. I don't know everyone's names but everyone from the 1st person who greeted us was so friendly and helpful. I may be jaded living in Chicago but I just expect everyone to be an asshole. My piercer was named Chris and he was just so awesome. Super personable and intuitive in his work. This is definitely the best place in Chicago to get a tattoo. They have such a wide array of very qualified artists that you can get any particular artist talent that you want and they are ALL EXCELLENT. We have had very good luck with Matt (me, my wife and my daughter who has a gorgeous sleeve) but I just tried Kevin and he was fantastic! Their selection of art is the best I have seen in Chicago so anyone berift of tat inspiration will find the perfect ink spot to permanently adorn their body's largest organ. Beyond stoked about my new tattoo, thanks to the deft hand of none other than Kevin Daggerhead at Tattoo Factory. I did not make an appointment, so I had my "consultation" with Kevin on the spot. With very little direction, he totally understood my vision and was able to translate my design into a traditional tattoo rendering (it's a pizza with a 'true love' banner, usually done with a heart). My two buddies were paying for it so I said, "wait, just do the outline and I'll pay to fill it up later. Let me go tell them" (mind we're drunk), and he says "hurry up, you have 5 minutes!" Wait, what the hell, you had us wait for over half an hour to even look at the tattoo to be inked and you tell the guy that you want $180 dollars from that he has 5 min to get this shit done?! I went in to get a matching tattoo with my dad on the side of my finger a week ago. After four days the ink was already falling out. Yesterday I went to another tattoo artist and they told me the tattoo wasn't put in deep enough. When I contacted Tattoo Factory they were dismissive, told me that someone DEFINITELY told me this would happen, and didn't offer any solution other than for me to come in so they could touch it up, but that it would just happen again. I live out of state so that's not an option. After I told them I couldn't come in I never received another email. Totally disappointed with this work and $80 for such a small tattoo, even given the location, not worth it. Why put a tattoo in someone's finger if you know it's going to fall out? Why not advise against it instead of taking my money? Or maybe you knew you weren't skilled enough to do it. Will never go back and would advise to go elsewhere, with so many places in the city, why risk it. read more

i went to get a tattoo as a walk in and at first i thought it was going to be a good tattoo shop but after i got the tattoo done it all looked like shit, I was hoping after the 5 days of leaving the bandage on it would look good but no it's all discolored the lines are crooked, and i got left with scabs it seemed like a kids drawing. Have your "artist" show their work before they tattoo someone and have your tvs facing the waiting lounge instead of them being faced where the "artist" can see them and mess up the person they're tattooing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone go to a place where real tattoo artist are in response to what you said yea i left it on for 5 days because that's what your employee told me to do and she also said "if your tattoo artist gives you advice you should take it" she said to leave on for 5 days so i took her advice. Have the artist read the same paper so they can say what's on it instead of saying one thing and confusing the customer and yea have them pointing the waiting lounge because i wouldn't want my artist tattooing me and watching tv at the same time. read more

They have always been willing to work with me especially with my latest two tattoos I've brought in photos of my two dogs paw prints and they've done an excellent job of copying the photo and doing the tattoo My latest was on New Years Day 2018. Have gotten a couple tattoos from this place, brought in my own designs (I'm an illustrator) and they were both extremely simple pieces. Got paired with a guy who brilliantly botched them. Didn't follow my lines, the lines are all wobbly and crooked and uneven--I don't want to be mean but my 4 year old niece draws better. (Recently it's also been brought to my attention that the lines are fantastically blown out. :c) Went in a second time and the same exact guy picked my name out (he said remembered me and subsequently he also probably remembered that I tip well.) I was too shy to ask for another artist and thought I would give him a second chance only to be botched even worse the second time. I wish I could reference his name but he's not even on their website. One of the tattoos is getting lasered, working on finding a cover up artist for the other one. Wish I had known about their reputation before--when I tell my new artists where I got them done, they laugh when they hear the name tattoo factory and say they've never heard of anything good come out of here. If you're getting permanent art on your body, PLEASE research your artists beforehand. Tattoos here are not only terrible, but overpriced, and even MORE overpriced considering I have to get cover ups and laser. Also, whoever runs their website and social media has the shittiest attitude I've ever seen. I'm service industry and I get the appeal of not taking shit from your customers, but when your customers are unsatisfied and trying to be nice about it, you don't give them the middle finger and gloat about how long your business has been open. From my exprience, it's been open because it is always available for 2am drunk walk ins. Lastly, beware going into this place as a female. I've never seen a woman employed here and have heard scary experiences from my fellow ladies. It's your run of the mill macho biker tattoo shop, definitely not a safe space for us. read more

I went here last week with a few other girls to celebrate our friends birthday. When we first got there, there was a bit of a wait, which we understood and was fine. A guy came around and asked all our names and what we wanted done. They started on the birthday girl, but after about 30 min or so, no one else seemed to remember the rest of us. We went up to the desk and asked, and they said "oh sorry we're in the middle of a shift change." He went to the back room where I saw all the artists just sitting around and eating. A few of them got up and came to ask our names and what we wanted and we were like...? We already did this...? Apparently we were all completely forgotten about. Myself, and two other girls got their first tattoo ever. While my artist did a really awesome job, he didn't tell me how to take care of it, what the healing process would look like, and what not to do (pick at it, be sensitive to sun, etc). Also, two of the artists were extremely rude to two of my friends. While one of them was drawing what she wanted, the artist gave up on her and just started on someone else...? They weren't that busy either. I'm a bit conflicted because my tattoo turned out great and my artist (Frosty) did a great job, but I will definitely not go back. read more

The guys are really nice and you can tell they've been doing this a while. I went in to get a spontaneous tattoo with my sister towards the end of the night we decided on matching butterflies. The picture of what I wanted and what I actually got was just a translation of poor poor work. Definitely quick in and out tattoo for any experienced artist yet it just lacked some simple attention to detail. I was in and out of the chair in 15 minutes. And you can tell it was a 15 minute job. Maybe it wasn't their style of tattoos but don't be afraid to turn a customer away if you can't replicate their inspiration. Wish I had a picture of the hand drawn stencil because that was worse. I've never felt such a feeling of regret. I'm sure they're good artist but their work just didn't show any care for quality. Wouldn't recommend for the style we were looking for. I received a tattoo the other day for Kris and had one of the best tattoo experiences I've ever had. He was very kind, great to talk to, and a very talented artist. I made a last minute appointment with him and sent over my reference photos and he made something I was beyond happy with. If you're ever thinking of getting a tattoo that involves traditional, bold outlines, or any kind of floral work Kris is your guy. I can't wait to come back to him for my next tattoo. My only complaint about the shop which is pretty much out of their control is that vagrants kept coming in. Artists kept having to escort them out. I'm sure it was just the time of day and the weather, I don't think it's a regular thing. The shop itself was very clean and all of the artists that I saw were very professional and welcoming. This caused my jewelry to sink INTO my piercing, leaving a possibility for INFECTION and healing it healing over the jewelry. Thanks to them, I could have scarring. I emailed my concerns on Sunday morning and STILL have not heard back. I called and Max wasn't in, so I was left with no choice but to go elsewhere for someone to fix it.
