If only I could give zero stars. The artists admitted he was new but we figured if he was working the shop alone, he must be decent. My sister and I went in for really meaningful, simple and small pieces. My sister's tattoo practically disappeared a week after. Meaning the artist didn't use enough pressure/wrong technique for the spot. Mine is also lacking in the fill in spots. read more

I went into Tattoo Joe's a couple times leading up to getting my first tattoo. Once I talked to Joe, I knew I had found the right place. Joe and his wife are wonderful knowledgeable people. I took it what a picture of the custom tattoo I wanted and got a price. I scheduled my appointment. I brought a friend with me, who got a tattoo also. Plus a friend who was there for moral support. Joe was friendly, personable and in my opinion very talented. Over all getting my first tattoo was a GREAT experience and I will never go anywhere else. The shop is bright, and very clean. Will not be coming back to this place. First visit I came in to get a tatoo, they didn't have time for a walk in, which was fine, but it didn't go any further. Wasn't even asked if I wanted to make an appointment or what I wanted done. The second time I came in, I was with my best friend from Colorado that came to visit, we thought at the spur of the moment to get a tattoo, this was at around 12:20pm. We asked if we could get a tattoo. The gentleman stated he didn't have time but another artist was coming in at 12:30, so we waited. 12:50 came around and he didn't show up yet. So we left our name and number for him to call us while we did some shopping....we never received a call back. Twice now, nothing....we ended up at a different shop and our tattoos were great. He's always polite and extremely informative I got my first tattoo from him on my 18th birthday and it was a memorial to my late brother and he was extremely sensitive with the subject and did an amazing job. Everything was going well. I have been going to Joe for awhile now I have at least 3000 worth of art on me from him, brought lots of customers to him. I have a few tattoos that need touch ups from where he failed to add enough ink. I call him up to see if he can touch them up or what the price is and he tells me he will fix them but he is charging me 150 an hour (original price hourly) to fix his mistakes. That's horrible. I called a few other shops in Vacaville like Damage Lifestyle and Anchor Tattoo and they told me quickly. If they do a tattoo that doesn't hold up or for any reason needs a touch up. They would fix it no questions asked. That to me is customer service. Joe in the other hand, is only thinking about his money and not his customers. He may have forgot who got him where he isn't. Got my first tattoo here and the guy that did it was super nice and i was very comfortable talking to him. It was clean place with very professional people. My only complain is that his lines weren't as smooth as I would like and that they don't have a minimum price for a small piece. Mine took literally 15 min and I had to pay the full price it would have cost me for an hour worth of work. So if you guys plan to have a small piece done, think about getting another one at the same time just so it's worth what you're spending. read more

I used to really like this shop. Fun, friendly atmosphere and great art. All of the artists, Joe, Mac (sp?), and the other guy (can't remember his name), were good people. I got my tattoos done by Mac and they turned out awesome! I went in there a couple weeks ago, and Mac wasn't there anymore. When I asked for him, everyone turned real rude and pushy. They wouldn't tell me where he was, and it seemed like they were trying to scam me into getting a tat from someone I didn't know. Needless to say I left and I won't be coming back. I'm sure I will find Mac or another equally great artist who isn't so pushy. read more

First offf... let me just say that Tattoo Joe's deserve 5 stars on customer service alone. I had first come into the shop to speak with someone regarding a memorial piece I had wanted to have done. The owner Joe was working on a client but, he took the time to talk with me in detail about what I had wanted to have done. He was very courteous and knew exactly what was required to complete my work. I had another encounter with his lovely wife who spoke with me about a variety of things regarding tattoos, coloring and placement.. being as though I am a woman, her opinion made sense and was helpful. Last but not least Erik. I have had Erik do several small pieces all over my body. Not only is he professional and goes to great lengths to make sure his work is on point, he makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I also had an issue with one of the letters on my fingers not adhering and he corrected it without any fuss or muss.. WHAT A GREAT SHOP!!! You won't be disappointed.
