Josh and I determined on my last appointment that he's been my artist for over 20 years now! I got my first tattoo from him when he was an apprentice at a shop in Roseville. I loved his work and him as a person from the start. My artwork is a tribute to his progression as an artist and I can't be happier to be his canvas. If you want an artist with a vision and who isn't afraid to tell you the rights and wrong, he's your guy. He won't tattoo something he thinks won't look good or he can't accomplish for some reason. You won't be disappointed. I constantly get stopped asking about my work. He's a great artist and a lovely human. Don't walk, run to get inked by him. My 8 year old daughter had her ears pierced at Claire's when she was 6. It was awful, uneven and became infected (despite cleaning as directed with their cleaning product). Because of this, we let them close up. She has been asking to have them redone so I called around and decided to bring her to Algood Ink. When we arrived, they were very welcoming and reassuring. We were made to feel welcome and comfortable. My daughter has been wanting to get her ears pierced and we did not feel comfortable going to a place like Claire's or a Walmart for a something like this. Sara was professional, nice and did a great job. My daughter and I are very pleased with the results. Sara made sure that we felt comfortable calling after the procedure for any questions. It was only 60 dollars and that included the studs. It felt more personal and professional than the gun type piercings offered in Wal Marts and the like. Everyone at the shop is great! I don't know why I didn't write this review years ago...better late than never. I have gone to Josh for 5 of my 9 tattoos (one being a cover up) and his work is amazing, whether it is a unique piece he hand created or something he is taking from a reference pic. I will not go anywhere else. My daughter goes to Carlos for her piercings and he is great, talks to her. Informs her and makes sure she is happy! Work is clean and we'll done. You don't have to worry about what kind of pics and paintings are on the walls. As a woman in the shop you are not bombarded by nudies, partial nudies or questionable paintings. You can bring your kids with and feel comfortable. You don't feel like you are in a dark dugeon. I have taken my mom and my daughter there for us all to get matching tattoos and did not feel uncomfortable at all. Can not think of a bad thing to say, have been in several shops over the years and this is one I will always return to. read more

I've had work done here before by two other artists. I'm a huge fan of supporting local businesses whenever possible, however Josh's demeanor when actually working with him for a new tattoo was rude and unprofessional. He didn't return calls, didn't do any work on our sketch, and then was belligerent when we requested a return on our deposit. This refund was requested after the date we were supposed to approve our artwork and he admitted to having none to show. There are lots of wonderful artists in the surrounding cities, I'd save my time and trouble and go there. Keep in mind that a lot of these high ratings are for others in the shop....not the owner. I'd have sung this shop's praises too before having to actually work with the owner. Never again. Beware if you plan to have any work done by Josh himself. read more

Josh Algood from Algood Ink has been the sole tattoo artist for my family since my son got a tattoo from him approximately 10 years ago, and has been amazing this entire time. The owner of this shop absolutely saved my day. I had a piercing done a while back at another shop (in Santa Rosa), and it was done incorrectly and was super painful and getting infected. He fit me in at the last second, got the jewelry out, was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and even saved the piercing by putting in the correct jewelry for me. Algoodink is by far the best shop I've been to, keep in mind that I went on a hunt for a good tattoo artist with a reputable shop countless of times. I was with my best friend a few days ago while she got a small tattoo done by josh. We had never been to his shop, but she won a gift certificate so we gave him a shot! Got there. All was good he was a super cool chill guy we all bullshitted while he did the tattoo. The next day my friend realized some of the lines on her tattoo weren't even. No big deal, fixable right? He even said he does free touch ups on his work for a year. So she went back in today to set up an appt to have it touched up or color in the little circles on the paw print. He said to her "your tattoo was done by a human and won't be perfect". EXCUSE ME? You are putting something on someone that is permanent! It better be as close to perfect as possible! And the picture I attached shows that it just doesn't cut it. He could have at least given options to color in the circles or something. I get that this was a free tattoo for u since u donated the gift card, but COME ON at least take pride in your work no matter how big or small the tattoo is!!!!! If you were a true artist and cared about your work, you would want it to be as beautiful as possible. Instead you are a pompous jerk about it! As someone who is covered in tattoos myself, I have been in many many shops and I will never ever step foot in this shop again! And I will be sure and let everyone else know that Josh doesn't care about his work and you will get sloppy tattoos! The proof is in the pudding my friends! Take a look at the picture. Some of the lines are thicker than others it's terrible! He did offer her an appt, but after he literally made fun of her for not being 100% satisfied why in the hell would she want to go back?!?!?! I have had two pieces done here so far, both by Greg, and they are amazing!!! I have gotten so many compliments on them that it is almost bothersome!!! lol. I feel very comfortable here and there is even a kids' area. Josh is super friendly and does amazing work too. Definitly worth the money I have spent here! They start at $120 an hour with a minimum of $60. I have referred three other people here and they have all been just as satisfied as I have been. I've had two tattoo's done by Big Greg and I highly recommend not only him but this shop. They are very friendly, talented, and the place is very clean. The prices are very reasonable and what you get in return is so worth what you spend. Even if you are not from this area, I think you will find it is worth the drive. Any additional work I may have done will only be done at this shop. Poor guys are stuck with this old lady. If you go to Big Greg's page you will see a tattoo of a sweet chihuahua. First I would like to say Josh is not only a tattoo guy but an artist. He does amazing work as well as the other artists in his shop. I would never go to anyone else. I trust his talent and have never been disappointed. He has done many tattoo sessions on my arms and it looks amazing. I Am going for another session this Friday. He has also done almost all of my husband's work and my husband is tattooed from head to toe. My husband even has work on his body from when Josh first started tattooing and it looks great. Even after so many years the colors are still as if it was new. It all looks amazing. His lines are straight. Very good at shading and very, very detailed.
