Everything tastes really fresh here. It has that farm-to-table quality, but in a relaxed, laid-back (but still really pretty) setting. We came for lunch and I loved that they had brunch options too. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

This is my first review on Yelp and this was my first visit to this restaurant/bar. My girlfriends and I went to Tavern 12 to watch the football games this past Sunday. I had expected the bar to be full, and we arrived at 1245pm and were lucky to get a table. It appears that they accept reservations for people that they know, but not outsiders. We had called and asked for a reservation and were told no, but we saw reservation cards when on other tables. A very young and very pretty blonde girl waited on us, and we ordered drinks and appetizers. She wasn't very friendly, but it was busy and we gave her the benefit of the doubt. When she would catch a break, she and the other servers seemed to gravitate toward one customer at the end of the bar who must have been a regular. I thought the food was very good for bar food, but my friends were less impressed. Service was slow, and we had to repeatedly wait for the next round of drinks from our server, who's mood didn't improve the entire time we were there. The worst part of the day was this obnoxious woman who was at the bar with her husband, who was loud, drunk and offensive. Her husband sat there the entire time and didn't say a word. She was dressed in Steelers gear and was arguing and baiting customers the whole time. It was awkward to see a grown woman act like that. She carried on like this the entire game. No one even tried to ask her to behave. I thought it was an embarrassment to the business. I waitressed in a big Fall River bar years ago and this woman was by far the worst I had ever seen. We were told she was a regular. I will say that the bartenders appeared to work hard, but again, they all gravitated to this one guy. Not sure why. Overall, for a place to be this packed, it must be pretty popular. My suggestion to the owners would be to have your girls focus on all the customers, not just some guy who flashes money around, and control the drunk woman. read more

I came to Tavern 12 looking for a drink and some good conversation, but I left with so much more.....a memorable experience, great laughs, and a very full belly! A huge shoutout to Matt and his team for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. The service was fantastic, and the kitchen absolutely exceeded expectations. Everything we ordered was delicious, but do yourself a favor and try the eggplant...it was outstanding! The biggest surprise of the night? We happened to stumble into Music Trivia, and it was an absolute blast. Between the friendly competition, the music, and the energy in the room, my cheeks still hurt from laughing and smiling all night. We had our Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses graduation celebration at Tavern 12 and it was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Matt and his team went above and beyond to make the night feel special, organized, and fun. The food and drinks were great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was outstanding. What made it even more meaningful is that Matt was also part of our cohort and study group throughout the program, so celebrating this milestone at his restaurant felt extra special. You can truly see the pride and hard work that goes into this business. Highly recommend Tavern 12 for a night out, celebrations, or group gatherings. Would have liked to try the food however, the order I placed through Doordash was canceled. Apparently the sliders that were ordered via the website could not be completed as ordered. There was some confusion, phone calls from a California exchange, and then an e-mail canceling our entire order. Note to Tavern 12, if an order is placed thorough a web portal and the error is on YOUR web page. Complete the order AS PLACED. Then change the web page to correct the error. You will perhaps keep a customer rather than alienating them from ordering in the future from your establishment. Checked the website today, Sliders have been removed from the menu. Discovered this establishment by accident and what a great discovery it was. Staff was excellent and accommodating. Ordered appetizers including wings which were very tasty and well cooked. It must have been karaoke night the place was packed but plenty of room to eat and enjoy ourselves. We will definitely return when visiting Rhode Island again read more

Really Good Food, Too Loud. Owner tries to get with every girl that walks in so avoid letting your daughters or girlfriends come here. A cocktail, food, and specials menu are provided, but they have a ton on tap and yet don't tell you what it is. You have to request a menu for non cocktail drinks which is crazy. The servers never seem to know what is on tap when you ask them, either. Service was great last time I visited when we had the lovely Favor helping us. More recently when I had someone else, service was slow and not amazing, I wasn't offered a water refill until I was packing up to leave. She did say she was newer, but the cadence of her visits was strange. I give Dave's extra points for serving their mozzarella Sticks with a homemade marinara (it leans heavy on a green pepper flavor so sadly it's not my favorite, but you can tell some love went into it and it didn't just come out of a jar). I asked for a small container to go for the marinara sauce to go with my leftover mozzarella Sticks since I didn't touch too many of them, but no container was given. I didn't notice until I got home and then was so sad, since eating leftover mozz sticks plain is just not fun...giving you sauce for the road should be a given when I had so much left! When my bill came, I was charged for the Blue Moon I had 5 sips of. I questioned it and the server gave me a little attitude to be honest. I couldn't believe I had to fight to get an item that was expired taken off my tab. She almost made me feel in the wrong and embarrassed for asking, when that should be standard customer service practice. Ultimately it was removed, but I was made to feel like I was being high maintenance....not cool. One of the two women's bathrooms always seems to be closed due to an issue. At least there's plenty of parking in the large lot since you can use the spaces for the building that looks like a liquor store next door (I'm told it's the same owner and this is used as storage space and is not an operating liquor store? I'm unsure) It seems they just need better training for servers and more of them on busy nights so they aren't stretched so thin. This place has potential but the thought of eating expired sour cream makes my skin absolutely crawl....please keep a closer eye on ingredients! I will say that my friends have always been pleased with their meals for the most part, especially when it comes to their decadent desserts. The seafood options also seem to be a hit, but I have not tried them myself.

For an entree, I always get the same thing - the Bayou Chicken Pasta. I'm not usually a huge fan of cream sauce and pasta, but I love something with a good kick. This pasta has chicken, corn, tomatoes, slices of some type of green pepper that I think gives it a little bit of heat as well as Cajun spices and Parmesan cheese on top. I usually ask for extra sauce and add Tabasco sauce and it has some great flavor. I've been really impressed by the cocktails here lately. I ventured in February and was made a delicious gin and guava cocktail. I don't know if they have guava anymore, but it was so good and I wish I'd gotten the ingredients. On the menu for Summer is this lovely lavender haze cocktail, but I do not like the citrus cold foam because it's a bit too bitter so I always have that taken off and add a little bit of Club soda instead. I also really like the salted caramel martini, and in the past, if I wanted more lavender or didn't think the salted caramel martini tasted enough like caramel, they have always brought over simple syrup or even a little more of the flavored alcohol to give the drink the intended flavor. I really appreciate that type of service and I've never been nickel and dimmed for that either. The service has always been phenomenal, and I overall like the vibe. It's a really big restaurant and so I've never waited very long to be seated. The bathrooms have always been clean, which is a huge one for me. I definitely will keep this in the rotation, especially when they have a lavender gin.

So I sipped my pint and looked at the menu but didn't see bangers and mash. "I'll have the bangers and mash, please," said Foo. "Sorry, we do t have that but do have some other Irish foods," said the bartender. "Foo is so sad, I'll have a Rueben then." "Coming right up." So, here is Foo's thought. I lay out stacks of grat like drunken sailor and want what I want. But, just because Foo have craving for bangers and mash doesn't mean the Irish place has. So, Foo sad. Leave small grat, short stack. But, on way out Foo dance an Irish jig and make the people laugh. Foo is like hurdy gurdy man with little monkey who make people happy and laugh. That's Irish to me, smiling eyes of Foo!

I can't say enough good things about the chicken parm Tuesdays. The portion is big enough to share and the price is great - $10 for red sauce and $12 for vodka sauce (my favorite). The pizzas are also really good and there are some unusual toppings. For example, The Texan pizza has bbq sauce, chicken, bacon, and onion rings. We love sitting near the wood stove - so toasty warm and cozy. Our go-to place and you can find us there at least once a week!

The building is smallish and located on a corner. A small parking lot is located on busy Hartford Ave, with a building entrance on that side that leads into the first of two bar areas. A larger parking area is located around the corner on Bishop Hill Road. Another two entrances, into the 2nd bar area are accessible from this lot. Also, a huge outdoor seating area, under a tent runs along one side of this parking area. So they have lots of room to enjoy a summer evening outside. We arrived late afternoon between meal times. The bar was full except for two seats. Other than the bar, the tables and booths in this area were empty (the other bar was not staffed at this hour). We like sitting at the bar and talking with the regulars. We learn so much about the area this way. Even in our own state! The majority of our bar-mates and the bartender were very friendly and we had some lively conversations. The building itself is old and much of the original dark wood remains along with a big fireplace. The ladies room is right at the end of the bar, is small and older and everything works. Full bar, beer on tap or in cans and wine. They have a nice bar-food menu. I chose sweet potato fries as my side while my dining companion chose regular fries. Both were good, as were our sandwiches (au jus and Big bird) Good quality and tasty. The booths began to fill as we were leaving and the barkeep was also their waitress, so she has a big area to cover. The regulars are very well known to each other and the staff so if you sit at the bar you may feel like the 'odd man out'. We enjoyed our visit and plan to return to try some of their other food offerings.
