Stumbled upon Tavern 12 one Friday evening around 10PM after looking for a place to drink because we were staying at the Radisson. When we entered the parking lot it was packed. Oh Shoot it was Karaoke night! The security st the front ID us and then we took a lap around the bar searching for a place to sit. There were some available high tops near the "stage" so we settled there. We asked the waitress for food menus because we were very hungry. The menu was lengthy. The food was tasted like bar food, it did the job. The drinks came out and they were ok. A little suspicious that the alcohol we named may not have been the alcohol in our drinks because we had slight headaches upon leaving, unless it was from the Karaoke. I was extremely entertained by the Karaoke though and I can tell that a lot of the patrons were regulars and took Karaoke very seriously. Oh there was a fight! Ha! I got really excited when my friend invited me to this bar on a Saturday night and I realized they had a Cuban on their menu. I didn't get to go that night but I did go today on a Early Friday afternoon. The place was pretty empty, I sat at the bar and did not have to wait at all. This is the first Cuban I have tried in Rhode Island that I have actually liked. I recommend this option when visiting this bar. Stay far away from this place at all cost. The service is slow the food is cold. Kitchen is slow in turn around. Fries with the burger came cold then they forgot to put another thing asked for on. Update, yelp is telling me the most recent update counts. Went tonight again, after many visits. Had an Excellent perfectly cooked burger, washed it down with an ice cold fresh beer. The place was busy as usual. Minimal wait for my food, zero wait for my beer. When I'm hungry, and want to go somewhere where I know the food will satisfy, without going broke or waiting forever, this is the place. The person cooking definitely knows what they are doing. OK, so I visited Tavern 12 last night and was pleasantly pleased with the service, I liked the spaciousness of the bar itself. The only issue was the music, too loud, and when I added money to the juke box and paid extra to have my song play next it did not, and then I watched the bar tender help a woman put money in the juke box as well and then proceeded to go back behind the bar and then turn the juke box off due to closing. Seemed a little wrong because they knew they were closing and still took the money. I do not like these new digital juke boxes, people with phone apps can bump your song and you lose your money, not fair and really bad business if you ask me. I would love to hang and watch a ball game there tho. read more

I feel quite sad having to write this review, but such is life. My spouse and I in our quest to find a "homebase" bar for our Sunday football watching, decided to check out Tavern12 last week. We walked into a packed bar and stood awkwardly by the door for a little bit not sure if it was seat yourself, we should be waiting for a hostess, or what. We eventually found a table with a view of the game we were wanting to watch and settled in. A waitress appeared quickly and was very nice, I ordered a drink from the really good looking drink menu, and he had a seasonal beer. The drinks were brought promptly, our order was taken (chicken skewers & chili bacon cheese fries) and brought quickly. Our visit went well, service once we found a table went well, and we left having spent a good $60 or so. Today, we had a very different experience. When we walked in, we were again faced with no hostess or direction as to seating, but echoing our experience from previously, we went to locate our own table. We found a tall 2 person table over by the bar and asked a server which screen our teams game would be shown on to which she said she didn't know, the manager was changing them before the game. Ok...so we figured the game would be on at least one of the screens near us and my spouse went to ask a few of the other patrons around us with empty chairs if they were in use. Every single one of them was apparently. So, our waitress comes over and we order a drink each, request chairs, and ask if she knows which screen the game was on. She went to ask the manager, who was in the process of setting the TVs and we did have one near us that we were happy with. When she returned with our drinks, however, we were told that there were no chairs available. What? This is when the visit pretty much completely soured for us. So apparently this bar would rather have chairs removed from tables where paying customers should be sitting and used for purses, or placeholders for friends of people that might show up, regardless of the customers that were there now, looking to spend hours worth of time and spending money with them. We left then and headed to another bar that was FAR more welcoming even with being every bit as busy. read more

Went there with my girlfriend and some friends to chill and watch the Bruins game. It was a Saturday night so I knew it was going to be busy so, when service was slow I kinda expected it. However, the only good thing on the night was the Wings. Once we had gotten a table I which we had to wait for one that was empty for about 15 mins then we claimed it. We were told someone was sitting but was on the other side of the bar hanging with other people. We took the table anyways because they he abandoned the table. We waited for over 15 mins and no one ever came back to it. The server who was a short brunette was rude when we took the table. Apparently she doesn't want to make money. I later overheard her talking about how I just went and stole the persons table and how dear I do that. So as you imagine she got absolutely no tip from any of us, in which there was 6 of us and she could have made some god money from us. All in all this was this place last shot for me, it had been good before but the last couple times I have gone the service has been horrible and sometimes non existent. So I will never be coming again and will tell everyone I know to avoid this place which is sad cause it use to be my favorite place to get a beer and watch a game. Update to owner: 1. The waiter did not say anything about that 2. The only thing stacked was EMPTY PLATES. The food wasn't touched at all in which btw was only like 2 pieces of chicken. 3. This also doesn't excuse your wait staff to bad mouth customers thinking they can't hear you when they can. Finally I will not be coming here since the last 3 or 4 times I have been here it has been a negative experience due to service. We ended up here by accident. The place we were originally at was so packed that it was standing room only, so their loss is Tavern 12's gain. I kinda liked the atmosphere, or lack thereof. If Rhode Island allowed smoking I could somehow see the wisps of smoke filtering through the air. Anyways, it was crazy busy there, being a Friday night and all. The clientele was strangely half young business people and half blue collar people. I loved the fact they had keno, as I am a bit of a junkie, but because it was so crazy busy the two bartenders did their best, and I applaud them for that, but when you're trying to get your keno slip in it doesn't make your feel better when your numbers come up on the game you missed. Apparently they have DJ nights, Karaoke, and Trivia nights there. I think I found a new bar to hang out at before the theatre! read more

I have a customer in Cranston and stay at hotels close to the airport. I have had multiple stays here in Warwick by the airport. I've been to almost all the local bar/grills here. This one gets my vote by a landslide. The food is good. It's not amazing but for the type of place you're in it's just what you're asking for. It has a great beer selection. Plenty of liquor options. TV's with anything you're looking for. I wanted to watch a Michigan football game years ago and it was no problem getting it on a tv for me. What I like and what brings me back to a place is the personal touch a place offers. It's starts with management and trickles down from there. You're greeted with big smiles and warm welcomes from the time you walk in till you hit the door on your way out. I always recommend this place to my coworkers when they are staying in the area. Tavern 12 is definitely a "hole in the wall" kind of place. I stopped in after a flight from Detroit to catch up on some games and was pleasantly surprised. Not much to look at from the outside, but as they say on that whole book and cover thing.., Service was great, food even better, cold beers, and very accommodating to what so wanted to watch. Awesome, don't let looks fool you. The new owner and chef Matt really has elevated barfood to a whole new level. Had the Thai Chicken Sandwitch and it was great. Lots of craft beers. Not a real noisy sports bar, but mellow, great classic rock in the background and a whole lot of varied sports on the tv's in the place. Yet you can still carry on a conversation without yelling. I don't know what it is about this place, but the majority of the customers are so cool also. This is a place that surprises you if you have never been. I would never go into a bar alone being a woman, however, I have done that at Tavern 12, I've never done that in my life at any place. Great job to all that work so hard there! I had gone by here a number of times on my way to my office and noticed a full parking lot. Always. I only returned after reading it was under new ownership by someone from JWU.
