In Tavern 24, I found a solid bar and restaurant in an underserved area. Located in the Susquehanna Strip Mall, this menu has a good collection of bar food paired with plenty of TVs for watching sports and cold beers. On my visit, I tried the Patty Melt, White Cheddar Mac, and the Nuggs. The Patty Melt was such a big sandwich with a hand pattied burger, thick cut sourdough bread, grilled onions, and an amazing melty blend of American and Swiss Cheeses. It was a good sandwich and very filling but a little under-griddled for my taste. Would be better pressed or if griddled a bit longer. Other than that, great burger. The Mac was hot and soupy in a warm crock with a nicely baked top. A solid Mac & cheese. The Nuggs are like half a chicken tender each. With a large of variety of sauces, these are very good. The Vampire Sauce, a blend of garlic Parmesan and Buffalo, actually works. The homemade blue cheese was nice but hard to dip because of the blue cheese chunks. Needs more dressing, less cheese. Don't order delivery at Tavern 24. The bartenders have it out for delivery drivers so I don't recommend ordering delivery from this restaurant. You're cold will sit and get cold on the counter before they will decide to hand it over to the delivery driver that's been waiting for 30 minutes for the order that has been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes. Yes this order was complete and getting cold on the counter because the bartender thought it would reflect on me! That's not how anyone should be towards a customer. Well, it's a decent enough place to hang out out. It's clean and the seating is okay. But if you get deep fried food that is not a good choice I had some onion rings there a few days ago and they were cold and limp. Like maybe there were someone else's order that they didn't want.. And they had a dark brown colour to the onion rings which means only one thing to me because I've worked in the restaurant business at least a third of my life and I'm 65 years old What discolouration tells me is they don't very often change the cooking oil so it rings a bad taste and a greasy taste. And depending on the person you get to wait on you the service may even be okay if they're not too busy visiting with their friends to come and get your order. I ordered a pepperoni pizza there once and I don't know how they did it but the outer rim of the pizza crust was kind of overcooked but the centre of the pizza was kind of raw. I'm thinking he was up too high for the pizza so it cooked the outer edges quicker than the Center, Yum Yum. So like I said, it's an okay place to hang out. The food is suspect. read more

I had a lunch meeting at the new Tavern 24 and opted to try a burger. It did not disappoint. In fact, I was not expecting it to be amazingly good. The combination of flavors in this burger is one of the best I've ever had. The thick juicy 1/2 lb blackened angus beef combined with the fried jalapenos, smoked bacon, pico de gallo, chipotle ranch, cotija and pepper jack cheese was something to brag about. This place has a sign saying we must wear our mask to come in. You come in with no staff wearing them. We asked why they weren't and the waitress/bartender said that they are required to but that they just didn't want to. We looked around and the other front of the house staff also were not wearing them. They proceeded to laugh at us as we walked out of the restaurant for being upset over the situation. Six of us at a table and we literally had to yell at each other to get over the volume of the Televisions. Being from independence and having a buddy who works here I want to give a good rating. The food is good. But the service is terrible. I've managed bar and grills for ten years including owning my own. Yesterday my buddy and I walked in got a table. Stood around for a minute, then decided to play pool while we waited for our server to greet us. We were there for over 25 minutes not even one person greeted us, let alone got a drink order menus nothing. In the final three minutes we were there a couple walked in sat down, within a few minutes they had menus and had been greeted. Not sure if we were singled out or not. But I left and dont plan on coming back now. Since I've gotten a response let me be clear about something. Both servers on the floor stared directly at us. Multiple times. Twice while they were standing at another table not even 15 feet from us. And still never acknowledged us at all. Even after multiple times making complete eye contact. Then legit serving another group that had walked in about 20 mind after we had already been there. I understand trials and tribulations. But c'mon now. Look at how you respond to people at the owner. One thing I learned in the industry is to never publicly talk down to any customers. Regardless of accusations. Especially since I'm assuming since you weren't the one who took care of it last night. You weren't there , so how would you know that so certainly that you would talk to a customer like that. Terrible ownership and professionalism. Sat down got a brew no problem... waitress never came back to take my order, had to flag down another one who said she would tell mine to come over.... She never did ... too busy looking at her phone ... so flagged another one who did take my order....a pizza... half step above a 99 cent frozen pizza... serious buy one yourself you'll see... girl came out said here's your pizza ... no silverware , no napkins... nothin .. god forbid I wanted chez, salt , pepper... so I walked up and got some cocktail napkins... ate the thing because I was starving...there, that's my experience ... told the bartender it would of been nice to have a fork or napkin... not much concerned response... so I still left a 5 dollar tip because I'm not a chump... took my wallet full of hundred dollar bills and split.... Tavern 24 is such a great opportunity to establish a new restaurant in the area and earn a ton of profit. Unfortunately, the mismanaged operations are driving people away. They ran out of food during their grand opening on March 20th. However, they've been receiving positive reviews three weeks prior to their opening date. Please keep in mind these skew the restaurants overall rating and misleads customers to expecting a positive experience. Prices aren't listed on the website; I've provided photos of the menu. Walking in, there's no clear direction on where to go or what to do. We simply found an open table and waited. The waitress was initially quite friendly and talkative, we ordered an appetizer that took an hour to receive. As a recently opened restaurant longer wait times are anticipated, but should still be acknowledged. It would've been nice to know they ran out of food, instead of discovering it on our own. Build those customer relationships now to have repeat customers. The waitress never came back to offer a drink refill or take our meal order. There's no table system linked with the POS, the food runner (not waitress) simply walked around asking "Did you order this?". After the hour wait on receiving the appetizer, two other plates of what we ordered came out. Again, the food runner walked around asking the surrounding tables if they ordered it. None of which ordered that appetizer, just us. An hour wait- for triple the work? Tavern 24 has vast profit potential once operations are streamlined and properly functioning. During our one in a half hours at Tavern 24, we saw five employees in total for around seventy patrons. Hopefully management can forecast properly moving forward to avoid the staffing and food shortages they've been experiencing. Lastly the outdoor patio is smoking friendly. As a nonsmoker it is off putting for me, but if you're a smoker be sure to give it a try. There are multiple food options and plenty to do like pool, darts, a music juke box, and televisions. Be sure to give them an opportunity if you've got a few hours to give. read more
