Unfortunately, the service during our visit was very poor. The bartender was the only person handling customers, and there appeared to be no wait staff available. As a result, service was extremely slow and felt complacent rather than attentive. While I understand staffing challenges happen, there was little communication or effort to manage expectations. We waited far longer than reasonable for basic service, which significantly impacted the experience. I hope management addresses staffing and service standards, as this visit did not meet expectations. read more

We visited on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't super busy, which will be important in a moment. We ordered some nachos, southwest eggrolls, cheese curds, and a couple cocktails. Everything tasted great other than the nachos that were just okay. Now, the fact that it wasn't super busy plays HEAVILY into my rating. The wait staff checked on us once after the food was first delivered...and then I waited 25 minutes from when we finished eating until the wait staff came near our table again for us to flag them down to get the bill. I don't know how long we ate, but that 25 minutes was after we actually finished eating. I shouldn't have to wait that long to pay you for your services. We kinda hated our food from here. The burgers were okay, but the other stuff was very sad. We picked up after ordering online. We live very close. The fries were limp, soggy undercooked. The onion rings had no flavor in the batter. It was like the opposite of flavor. The wings were okay, maybe they get them preseasoned because I think they are the only thing we got that had a little bit of seasoning on them. Do not EVER come here for a 21st birthday celebration. Came here for my brother's birthday and the waiter tried to tell us he was not 21 after reading the outdated battery powered sign on the wall with the wrong date. The waiter then proceeded to check his ID several times and confirmed it was not expired and he was of age. We were under the impression he would be brought a beer until the manager told us this would not be happening due to law when it was really company policy (didn't have paper ID). This was wrong for them to lie to us. She offered us a free meal and we decided to stay. When we were submitted the bill, no free meal was provided. They conned us into staying to pay money for food. Not gluten free friendly. Was in town visiting family and simply asked what I could order that was GF. Was told the cooks speak Spanish so they cannot understand the word gluten free. The only thing on their menu that is GF is a bun.. but nothing that you would put on the bun. The server seemed put off for me even asking what I could eat. Typically I can at least order a piece of grilled chicken anywhere. Would avoid at all costs if you have food sensitivities. read more

I recently visited The Bar in Olathe for 'Taco Thursday' though I'm now not finding any evidence of this being an ongoing occurrence online. I'm actually not even seeing tacos on their menu, so without a picture, I would have thought I made this up. I ordered off-the-menu black bean tacos / modified the tacos to be more 'vegan' and appreciate that the staff/kitchen was willing to do so. These were pretty good and as you'd expect tacos to be. Sometimes when one thing is really bad, no matter how good other things are, it will never make up for that one bad thing. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by and get some food, as it was next to the T-Mobile store I visited. Let me say, this place was packed on a Friday. It had an older, mostly male crowd, and most of the folks I saw there were more into their clique than mingling. What can you say, I'm a mingler. Whether I go to bars with a couple of friends or by myself (if I want to get out of the house), I like to talk to other folks. So, while the atmosphere was near raucous, it was also segregated to their groups, but I find that a bit of the KC atmosphere. If you want the "Cheers" experience when hitting your local bar, this is not for you, at least south of the 435. Anyway, what ruined any positive experience for me was the service. At best, my server seemed exasperated, at worst she was simply just rude. It was clearly the worst service I've experienced in KC. There were several things that made her the worst server. 1. She was very curt, with a condescending attitude and always ended what she said with a sigh, as if she did not like talking to people. 2. She was allergic to smiles....and strangely, making eye contact. 3. She would not stop at my table, even when dropping off food. She would plop the drink or food as if I were a stop and her bus did not stop at my table. I was actually glad that she stopped only a few times at my table as her attitude just got more on my nerves every time she rolled on by. As for the food, it was okay, but even if it were 5 stars (it's not), I will definitely not come back. I MUCH prefer the Other Place, which is just as busy...but with servers who actually want to be there. read more

I visited The Bar this week to meet up with some friends and unfortunately, it was not great. The experience was also dampened by staff and patrons smoking on the patio while we tried to enjoy our meal. I ordered the Southwest Burger cooked to medium, and a side of fries. The burger lacked any real spice or heat, despite being topped with jalapenos and pepper jack cheese. The jalapenos were from a jar or can, and were piled on the burger ice cold. It was a decent bar burger, but nothing I'd seek out. The fries looked delicious, but were super greasy, soggy, and under-cooked. They looked great when they initially arrived to the table, but I ended up leaving 3/4th of them behind. Overall, there are better options in this part of Olathe. I'd probably give this a three star rating despite the food issues, but allowing staff and patrons to smoke on the patio where I'm trying to eat isn't for me. read more

Decent happy hour specials, and they have a reverse happy hour too. Opted for beef nachos on the happy hour menu, no milk products. Came out quick, and they were hot. I did ask for a side of large salsa too. Plenty of beef, and fresh onion and scallion. Filling to chip ratio was well done too. I really like the patio here. It's quiet, well lit and there aren't any TVs which makes for a nice break from the atmosphere inside where it's hard to focus on conversation. This place has good service, we typically have a great time on Karaoke Wednesdays, most of the people here are regulars (at least on Wednesdays) and it's a great crowd! The food is hit and miss here, we always get the Beef Sliders and Fries and today they managed to mess them both up. I sent the burnt fries back and I received another order that was the same or worse than the one I sent back. At least the green beans were OK. Karaoke nights are a fun experience, make sure you come check them out on Wednesdays from 8pm to Midnight. read more

I've been craving a burger so I got the cheddar bacon burger and fries and fried pickles as an appetizer. The burger was pretty good, it needed a some kind sauce or aioli or something. I love The Bar! I live in Texas but always make time to visit when I'm in Olathe. The food is delicious (try the loaded fries!) and the customer service is top notch. I had a very good experience during lunch at this new sports bar. My west wrap with sweet potato fries ($8 plus $1 for side upgrade) was served with a smile just 12 minutes after I ordered. It was generously sized, with an adequate portion of tasty chicken along with fresh veggies. The sweet potato fries were nice and unique, with plenty of sweet potato goodness. I liked the friendly service, and I was checked on by a manager to make sure everything was okay. The interior was nicely sized, with a large U-shaped bar area, a spacious, divided seating area, a good mix of booths and tables, a TouchTunes jukebox, a patio, TVs all around the perimeter, and 70's/80's background music (not too loud), although I didn't notice any bar games. Really good! This is definitely your typical 'bar food' scene, but somehow elevated at the same time. We live close by so we usually order carry out, but we have also taken our 2-year-old and dined in and it was a great experience. The buffalo chicken wrap is my favorite - don't forget the sweet potato fries and marshmallow dipping sauce! I am drooling just thinking about it. Great place for bar food! I love their big booths that offer some privacy and help with the noise in a crowded sports bar. I've been twice and had good experiences both times. The last time we went we ordered chips and queso. They served us gravy instead of queso. Our waitress was bubbly and fun and we all had a good laugh over chips and gravy (btw-I do not recommend). January 2020: This was our first time here and the food was ok, the atmosphere is cool, but the service was very bad. We sat there for 30 minutes before a waitress stopped by our table to even get our drink orders. Our burgers were dry even though we ordered medium. When we did get a waitress, she kept making excuses. Won't be coming back. *update September 2020: tonight was much much better. Our server (Alex I think was his name) checked on us several times & the food was better. The food is nothing to write home about, but it's decent bar food. The atmosphere is still cool. I called this morning to make sure I could watch my team's game. All was good until half time when the channel suddenly changed to another game. A person tried changing it back but couldn't. She said she would look into it. No one ever came back. I asked the waitress to find out what happened, and after a long period of time, I was told that another customer had requested a different game and to be fair (in their words), they let me watch the first half of mine and the other person watch the other half of theirs. Excuse me???? I was there early, and I was there first. If at any time I was told I wouldn't be able to watch my FULL game, I would have gone somewhere else. The manager should have come back to tell me that and not put it on the server. Imagine if you were a Chiefs fan, and they wouldn't let you watch the 2nd half of the game because someone else wanted to watch another. Never again. Do better, sports bar! She was very nice but was chatting a lot with another booth so ignored us and our needs. Food took a long time, I had ordered Buffalo chicken wrap, it did not come out with everyone else's order at the table. Our server walked by and questioned that I did not have my meal yet. So, she went and found my meal. My buffalo chicken wrap had no buffalo sauce on it, and since my server was chatting up the next table, I took it upon myself to walk up to the kitchen to get buffalo sauce. This place is very poorly managed from what it seems. Our first experience here, we came on Sunday to watch a chiefs game! Got brunch, service was meh, food is usually decent here. All of the sudden, the tv in our booth we are watching the chief on, our local nfl team, is changed. When we asked a server about it we were met with a horrible attitude saying "well there's a bunch of other TVs here not everyone wants to watch the chiefs"... tabbed out and left as our seat didn't have a good view of the other TVs. Next time we came about a year later, we tipped cash and the server put in an incorrect charge tip. When we went in to correct this, the server proceeded to know exactly what we were talking about, paid us cash, then pointed to us while gossiping with his co workers. Avoid this place at all costs, seedy employees, trash service, maybe if you get to-go food it's alright but even then, it's overpriced anyway. Don't go here. read more
