If you are going for the atmosphere it's not great but if you want some delicious food this is your place! We went there for the first time yesterday upon recommendation from some friends. It was amazing! I wish I had better pictures to share. We had the nacho appetizer which was so scrumptious. They had homemade sautéed ground beef on top of the nachos with real cheese. We also had the stuffed shrooms which were very good but not quite as good as the nachos. I had the prosciutto feta fig balsamic pizza and it was amazing. My friend had the muscle appetizer and you wouldn't believe how many muscles you get! The sauce was outstanding! You could tell it was made in house with lots of real delicious garlic. They also provided her with an entire loaf of bread to sop up the sauce. Highly recommended! read more

Great filet mignon sandwich, good sausage sub fresh, hot with quality ingredients. Get the ranch with the fresh fried potato chips. Tavern 42 is AMAZING! We've been coming here twice a week for quite a while and love it. The pizzas are thin crust and delicious. The sandwiches are very flavorful and the rest of the food is out of this world. We've never gotten bored with the menu. This is the best place to eat in Clayton! Their prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is wonderful. The staff is super friendly and are top notch, and the owners are very personable. We live right down the road from Tavern 42. This is 1 of 2 go to places for wings, beer and football in Clayton. Wings are very good when ordered extra crispy and ask for their hottest sauce that is not on the menu. Pizza is ok, chili could use thickening, kids like the salmon. My husband and I eat at Tavern 42 weekly for lunch. We have loved everything on the lunch menu. The staff are always friendly and polite. It's a very quaint place with usually one waitress and one bartender so you may have to wait a little while but it's worth it. One of our favorite places for sure! read more

Went to this restaurant for the first time based on the reviews. When we got there our server was great an friendly. After we ordered our food (we ordered 2 burgers) however, we never saw her again. Our food took an hour to arrive, people around us who got there much later than us were served before us. No one came to apologize it was taking so long, I had to get up to ask a different server if she could ask our server (because again she disappeared) how much longer our food would be. They told us it was still going to be 5 more minutes, I mean how long does it take to cook a burger! Finally when our food arrived, I asked for a Diet Coke Refill, never got it. Finally I just asked for the check and got that right away. They charged me extra for ranch that didn't even taste fresh. I gave them 2 stars because overall the food was ok. I would say it was just a bad server, but we had about 4 different servers, because our original one refused to come back over to our table, and got terrible service from all of them. This place has a wonderful nice feel to it and just walking in you get this fun small place vibe and the waiters are absolutely great but one thing I must recommend is wings. The wings plain are crunchy and not stringy and nothin but great chicken with honey BBQ sauce on the side dipping it. read more
