This spot is a great asset to the downtown Belleville area. It is a great area to grab a drink or have a meal. The restaurant has outdoor seating plus extra private areas in the back if you have a large party. As far as food goes the lunch buffet is pretty awesome. It includes a few salads, make your own pasta, toasted ravs, and pizza! It is a great value and high quality. For the menus there are different specials each day that your server will tell you about. For everyday menu items I have personally had the baked lasagna which came with a side salad plus bread and the lobster BLT pizza which was my favorite. This evening myself and 3 friends went to Tavern on Main for dinner. We were told that there was approximately a 30 minute wait for inside and longer for outside. So we agreed to wait for the 30 min. Wait for inside seating. Next thing we know we are being seated in The back dining room. And we sat and we sat. A party of 5 were seated after us. They received water, drinks, appetizers, salads and refill on drinks. A waitress finally came over to us and asked if we have been taken care of and I said "NO". I also stated what we watched at the table next to us. We were told that the "wait staff" had not been told we were there. I guess we were invisible. So we did get water And quickly gave our orders. It then took more time than we realized to get our food, after a man came over and offered free drinks. We don't drink. Lots of apologies but no food. Then we sat again. We were told it would be another 10 minutes before our food would be out. Nope. Finally, I asked the waitress about our food and she would check. Bingo, here comes our food. In the meantime, everyone else in this area were done eating and leaving. So, now we were more than ready to pay the bill and leave. Two waitresses(ours) were at a table figuring their tips. Evidently we were handed over to another waitress who exploded about how short handed they are and working their "butts" off. I told her everyone is in the same position. She stated that I was rude at the top of her voice. I felt her behavior and conduct was out of order. Then we had to hunt her down to pay one of the tabs. The total time in and out was 2 hours. I truly understand that shipments don't arrive on the trucks, business owners all over the country in every area of business are in need of help. I understand that businesses are trying to make money they lost last year being forced to be closed. But if you don't have the staff to full force, don't have all the tables full and not be able to manage them. I also don't understand why the waiters are not schooled in talking to patrons. Bad experiences, bad service and average food doesn't bring in more business that can't be handled. Maybe this is a good thing?? Won't be going back anytime soon. Service was awful. Messed up our order not once but twice took 35 minutes to get it as well . Service was equally as awful. The only thing halfway decent was their buffalo chicken sandwich. Good food for the price, the feature was a 16 oz prime rib for $24 which is great. I would suggest meeting somewhere else for a drink because they have a small bar, to combat that there are high top bar tables in the dining room which makes it very loud and it was difficult for us to have a conversation without yelling. The wine list needs to be improved, not many options. If you make a reservation try asking for the back room, it may be quieter back there. Good service and my salmon was great! read more

My husband and I just found this restaurant recently. We've been there for dinner and lunch. We love it. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is good and the decor is great. We have been about half a dozen times at this point and we haven't been disappointed yet. The owners are hands on and always running around trying to keep everyone happy and their bar tender (not sure of her name) is always very attentive and personable. Sadly, my more recent experiences have been less than 5-star. My best friend took me to ToM for my birthday. I always order the BBQ Shrimp app because it's freaking delicious. It comes with a crostini of sorts, and the waitress had to replace them twice (so three rounds of crostini) because each time, they came out moldy. Yes...moldy. I didn't ask for comps and didn't receive one, but it was kind of gross. We stopped there for drinks when meeting my wedding photographer, and the service was attentive. We just had drinks on the patio, so it wasn't a difficult table. No complaints there. However, my best friend and I decided to go back today for lunch. We each have an hour, and it's close to both of our workplaces. Our waitress had 5 total tables, including us, and my friend already had my Diet Coke waiting when I arrived. The other four tables (except one person at one of the 2 tops) had the pizza/salad/pasta buffet, so you would think they would need less attention than our table, as we ordered from the menu. NOPE. Our waitress never came back to our table. She went to every single table she had around us. We had to grab someone behind us who must've had friends or family dining to ask her to find our waitress. Instead, she brought us the refills and was very kind. My friend, a former waitress herself, had to wave her hand and slightly call out to get her attention to get our checks. Between taking our orders and dropping our checks, she never came back. Someone else expo'd our meals, and then, as said above, someone else had to get us refills. She literally attended to every other table. Don't know if it was to ensure a tip from buffet diners that might not think they need to leave a good tip, but she screwed up. As a former waitress, my best friend tips well, and so do I. But when I'm completely ignored, nope. On $14, I still left almost $3.00, and I felt that was pretty generous considering. read more

I was there this Sunday 4/27. Got there at 3:30. Wanted to sit out side. Went in side. Gal at desk said we could sit anywhere outside, just go and find a table and she would follow us with menus and silverware. We found a table, and guess what, no one behind us. We sat out there for over 10 minutes. No one. While we were waiting there was a male waiter busy either flirting with two gals or just becoming great friends. We left after another table of four gals came and sat down and were waited on with menus. BTW...we had at least three other waitresses just look at us while we sat there. I didn't feel like I needed to go hunt someone down. It had been over a year since we had been there. One of my favorite places. I can't see me going back there again. Too bad. Tavern on Main. They nailed the decor and the atmosphere really is great. I really enjoyed the setting. Being the new place it is very busy on weekends and we had to wait an hour for a table. The bar area is big enough that waiting wasn't too bad. They also keep a spot open so you can easily get to the bar for service without reaching over other people. The staff was friendly and did a nice job at making sure we were happy. The Tavern is owned by the same guy who owned Marco's on Main and Shennanigans. (Not sure about the spelling). The menu reminded me a lot of Marcos. It was a bit disappointing to be honest. The salad was the sweet italian you get at Marcos and was good but familiar. Jess order steak and scallops. The steak was under seasoned and the scallops a bit undercooked. I ordered the steak Marco. It was good but is a simple dish. BJ had the same as Jess and Juliet ordered a pasta that was alright, again heavy in garlic like Marcos on main. The side was vegetables. They were not good at all, pretty sure they were frozen. It was pricey for Belleville at 18 a plate, I think the pasta was closer to 12. And drinks were 5 or 6 each. I would probably go back, it's good for this close to home. read more

We (two couples) went to Tavern on the Main Sat night for dinner. We stood in the bar area while we waited for our friends to arrive. I ordered a black and tan - but no Bass! So I had a Guinness and Southwick Ale combo- (black and someone). We were seated in the first dining area to the left. The husbands immediately complained about the dining chairs. Personally, I thought they were comfortable. We ordered 4 different meals: linguine with shrimp, the surf and turf, the tortelloni, and the scallops. Everyone had the house salad. For the first time I can remember, everyone was happy with the meal of his/her choice. We were all surprised that the scallops were nicely prepared. I guess we are scallop snobs. My shrimp with mushrooms combo was really good. My husband's steak was actually cooked rare - which is hard to find in most restaurants. My friend ordered her meal with broccoli because she is avoiding carbs. Actually, I wanted to order the Frutta Mare but I was afraid to do it. I am originally from New England and ocean seafood usually disappoints me, in the Midwest. Maybe I will try it next time. And, yes, there will be a next time. The prices were a little high but the food was quite good. My only complaint is the dining area is a tad noisy. And, the dining room was not completely full. Went there Sunday, June 25th to have a few beers and a Pizza with my girlfriend. I asked the first waitress I saw if I should just pick a table to sit she said yes and will get hostess. Hostess came over and gave us menus and after that we were ignored by the staff. They sat two other tables around us an never even asked us if we wanted drinks. When the drinks of the other table started coming out I got up and went to the hostess asked to speak to the manager she asked what was wrong. Great food and atmosphere! My wife and I really love warm bread and usually get a good idea about a place from their bread. This place delivered! I had the "surf and turf". The fillet was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The scallops were pretty tiny but were also cooked perfectly. The prices were very reasonable with nothing costing more than $18. We finished the meal with a slice of homemade Bailey's cheesecake, which was great. The only drawbacks were that the vegetables were clearly from a frozen bag and were overcooked and the coffee was below normal restaurant standards. I love the atmosphere and vibes. The staff, the drinks, outdoors patio. Everytime we have eaten here though it is seriously awful. We have never had a good meal and finally the last time we went our friend got so sick we had to leave and then he lost it in the parking lot..sorry but true. The flat breads and drinks are super tasty but that is seriously all I would ever order again.
