This is hands down, our favorite restaurant/bar. Consistently great, has an old style pub feel, and is always decorated beautifully and on theme seasonally. We also love the rotation of drinks and foods each month. It gives us a new reason to come back that keeps it fresh and interesting. We know there is a wait to get in at happy hour and dinner time so we check in and walk down to Martony's for a drink and some Golden Tee while we wait to be called. It's 21 and over due to Indiana law and the size of the space. It makes it a special night for just us though and it's also turned into a tradition to bring our older kids for a really fun evening out when they turn 21. I do wish they would bring back the caprese sandwich as a regular item on the menu. It was my favorite as a lunch time option. And I hope they NEVER remove the Dilly Dally Dip because omg it's the best spinach dip we have ever had in our lives. read more

First time going, we got gift card took advantage of the day and took the wife to eat. The ambience was great. The waitress was friendly and courteous, she answered all my questions regarding my fish allergy. I was limited from selecting anything fried because apparently they fry everything in the same oil and that put a damper on my experience. Went to lunch with a friend yesterday afternoon. It was our first time at Tavern on Main. We sat outside and we got the crispy buffalo cauliflower, the pretzel bites and the loaded tater tots. Everything was absolutely amazing. Tavern on Main takes standard bar food and makes it so much tastier! Out server Kelly was wonderful and we will definitely request her every time we go back. Service was extremely nice and quick! The variety of mules they have is awesome, and I had a regular and a raspberry and would recommend both! For food we had two burgers and the chicken tacos. I wish the chicken was more shredded than diced, but that may just be a personal preference. However I appreciate that there are gluten free options and accommodations for dietary restrictions! Came in for my birthday because we were in the area and I had a hankering for a cheeseburger. We were promptly seated and the server came over to greet us within minutes. Wife mentioned it was my birthday, but I let the server know I didn't want any singing or theatrics. Too old for that stuff. The place was pretty packed on Saturday afternoon and there was more than ample Christmas decorations which is always a plus for me. We started with some cheese curds and I ordered their bacon cheeseburger. Really wanted a mushroom and Swiss but this is not something they offer. Don't remember what the wife ordered. The curds were okay. Had better, had worse. Our entrees came out shortly after. Food was hot, but that was the only good thing about my burger. The meat was over seasoned and dry. The candied bacon was too sweet. I couldn't even finish the burger. Wife wasn't thrilled by her food either. Unlikely to return except for drinks maybe. read more

I've given this place multiple chances, but the service has been consistently slow each time. On one visit, we sat at the bar for 12-15 minutes with no acknowledgment, even though the bartender was chatting with her friends at the end of the bar . We ended up leaving. Another time, the wait was shorter, but drinks still took around 10 minutes to arrive. It was just draft beer and a simple cocktail. On my most recent visit with server Dawn G., the food was good, but drinks were slow again. I ordered two pours of bourbon, and each one took a while to arrive. It was a busy night, so I was willing to be patient. However, when I got my bill, I noticed I was charged for two doubles--even though I never asked for doubles. This felt like an upsell tactic, which was frustrating. I get it bigger bill bigger tip but come on. I've given this place multiple chances, and while the food is good, the slow service and questionable billing practices are disappointing. While visiting the town square today with my mother, some friends, and my 7-month-old baby, we decided to stop in for a bite to eat. A server, maybe in her mid-30s with a slender build, approached our table and immediately started saying we needed to be 21. My mom jokingly said they were assuming she was referring to my friends and me. She just kept repeating, "You need to be 21. Didn't you see the sign?" (we hadn't). After we replied no, she asked again as though our answer would change. She then proceeded to ask in an incredibly sarcastic tone if the baby was 21. I said no in a confused tone, thinking she was messing around and just wasn't funny. She proceeded to tell us we couldn't be in there with a baby, speaking to us as though we were idiots. All of us were incredibly confused and picked up our things to leave. As she stormed back to the kitchen, the table next to us informed us of the Indiana state law prohibiting anyone under the age of 21 from being in a bar/restaurant that doesn't have a clear separation between the bar and restaurant sides. As we are from Illinois, this isn't a law we were familiar with. We understand it isn't the establishment's fault; however, I have never been spoken to in such an impertinent tone. Having worked in the service industry for many years, I was shocked at how poorly the server handled the entire situation. She didn't explain anything, just told us to go with little to no explanation other than having a literal baby with us. She didn't bother to offer us a seat in the outdoor area. I have never left somewhere with such a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the manager or owner sees this post and has a word with her, as that is not how you speak with paying customers or anyone at all. I'd like to add I hardly ever leave reviews and typically, when I do, they are positive. So imagine how upset and uncomfortable this entire situation made me. read more

We also ordered the brussel sprouts with maple and bacon. It was okay. The serving size was large but I felt like there was too much maple syrup. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the COVID precautions. One bartender had his mask under his nose. The place is quite small and packed. I went here this past Friday and Saturday. I had a great time the first night. When me and my friend arrived it was packed but there was one table left. The waiter was friendly and helpful. I had the lavender margarita and the blackberry smash. Both were good but I would come back for the blackberry smash. I had the veggie burger and fries with extra pickles. Would definitely recommend for anyone that doesn't eat meat. My friend had the chicken and Waffle. She said it was pretty tasty.
