Unsanitary and unbelievably rude service. My son and I both ordered the Station 21 burger medium well. When our food arrived, I cut into mine and it was extremely rare--so undercooked that one side of the patty was still pink. My son's burger was cooked correctly, so I know mine clearly wasn't. When our waitress checked on us, I explained the issue, and she politely apologized and took the burger back. A few minutes later, the manager on duty brought the same burger back upstairs, slammed it down, and asked with an attitude, "What is the problem?" I explained that it was undercooked and that I had ordered medium well. She then asked, "What do you want me to do with this?" while just standing there staring at me. After acting irritated, she asked if I wanted a new burger or wanted "this one" recooked. The idea of them recooking a burger I had already cut into and handled felt completely unsanitary. Her attitude throughout the interaction was awful. I declined a replacement, and she huffed that she'd remove it from the bill. Unfortunately, it got even worse. Just minutes later, an earwig crawled out of my friend's salad. We were horrified. We took a picture, caught the bug, and asked another server to get the manager. When she returned, she walked up with her hand on her hip and said, "Now what?" We handed her the napkin with the bug, and instead of apologizing, she opened it right there on the table, let the bug crawl out, scoffed at us, and said, "Fine, I'll take that off the bill too." At that point, my friend was covering her mouth in disgust after realizing she had been eating a salad with a bug in it. Rather than showing concern or professionalism, the manager snapped, "What do you want?! I didn't put the bug in the salad." I have never experienced such unsanitary conditions combined with such shockingly hostile customer service. Mistakes can happen, but the manager's behavior was beyond unacceptable. Great food and service! We were passing through the area while travelling to Chicago. The first place we stopped were out of food, the next two were considered bars and would not allow kids, so this was a last resource, but definitely a good choice in the long run! A very unique restaurant. We been there a few times last year. So after a bad experience waiting for dinner at Lucrezia Restaurant, I brought my out of town guests here on Friday evening. They were extremely busy. We asked how long the wait was and were advised 10-15 minutes! The hostess greeted us with a smile How refreshing Within less than 10 minutes we were seated. Our waitress was Liz. She welcomed our guests to the restaurant and to Indiana. How inviting that is. We ordered our entrees, drinks. Liz checked in on us several times and asked how everything was. She did so in NOT in an annoying way. She also made sure our drinks and water were full. The food was soooo tasty. It was a very enjoyable time at Station 21. We sat there for almost 45 minutes after we ate. Talking and catching up on old times. Liz smiled and hopefully got to know us. She was an awesome waitress. It's loud here, with TV's and patrons. Yet not overbearing where you could not hear who you were talking to. A great place to go for locals and visitors and tourists alike. The service, the food, and atmosphere is totally wonderful. Placed an order quickly with Yelp, was ready on time. Food was delicious! I had a Reuben that comes with fries. The pickle was packaged separately, as well as the sauce. Really nice bar inside! I ordered a steak and my boyfriend ordered a bacon cheese burger. Cheese burger was delicious. The steak was not very good. Ordered it medium rare and it wasn't very juicy and very tough to cut. The two young kids at the front were very nice. The atmosphere was loud and too much "sports bar" for steak or surf and turf. If you know you're walking into a Sports Bar, you probably won't mind. We frequent this restaurant often since it's commencement. Today was such a disappointment. My husband and son got chicken sandwiches and they changed their buns- and not to the better. It was like a pretzel bread before and now it's like a 3 week old generic bun. So incredibly disappointing - one would think if you have to up your prices on everything you'd at least keep the same products- not raise prices and decrease value. I am not a resident of Indiana anymore, but my family lives here and I visit often. I've been here a few times and it's time to give this place a deserving review. The atmosphere is pleasant and the dining options are upstairs, downstairs and also they have an outdoor patio that wraps around the second floor. There are plenty of seating options (booths or tables) and they also have a small bar area but some areas are a bit cramped but certainly doable. I love the burgers and sandwiches here but they certainly have lots of other options such as perch, walleye, tuna, steaks, chicken and lots of appetizers. The menu is also kid friendly with lots of options to keep the youngins happy. The burgers are pretty big and really the portions are generous overall. The service was "good" and they keep the drinks filled and the food was served quick enough that you can come here, order, eat and get back to your local job in less than an hour. I'll certainly be back and if you've been driving by here and never came, give it a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

I've been coming to this place for several years - Highly versatile - from babies in tow to date night. Always has had excellent service and great food. I'm usually a fan of the ahi salad or ahi appetizer. Daughter's fave is always Italian beef. Went with better half - sat in bar area (versus family dining downstairs) wowed beyond wowed. What has happened to this place??? When they first opened the food was pretty good, in fact, one of the few places we'd eat at. I started to notice the quality was not what it once was about a year ago and the food would be hit-or-miss. Last time we dined inside we were very disappointed and left most of the food on the plate. We ordered take out last weekend and it was disgusting...bland, no flavor at all. These are entrees we've had many times before so we knew what they should taste like and this was nothing more than cheap, Chef Mic(rowave) meals. If they keep this up, their doors won't stay open much longer and that would be a shame since they started with so much potential. The cheese sauce was really well blended and spiced delicately. For dinner I had a burger with fries while my husband enjoyed the philly beef sandwich. My burger came with tomato, onion and cheese. I added onion straws. The brioche bun was sturdy but soft. It was the exact right size for my burger. Stopped at Station 21 for dinner Saturday night while in the area. The parking lot was full so we found street parking a block away. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated within ten minutes. The hostess did a great job, she told us when we came in that she had her eye on a table that was going to be cleared in a few minutes. (and she was right!) Noise level is pretty rough on a Saturday night. Both the upstairs and the main level were packed. We really had a hard time carrying on a conversation at our table. I ordered the 21 Burger but asked the server to leave off the "special sauce" since it is mayo and chipotle and did not appeal to me. My partner ordered a house salad. The burger was pretty good, but the bun was sort of cold, as if it had been in a refrigerator. I wish it had been warmed or toasted. The salad was good, but really loaded with croutons. If you like croutons, you will love the salad. There was a guy (owner? manager?) who was going table to table making sure people were enjoying their experience. I thought that was cool, but it would have been nice if he had identified himself. Limited options for non-chain restaurant food in Crown Point, and I think Station 21 is a decent restaurant with good service and okay food.
