Sadly I can't review the food because I waited for 45 minutes after ordering and no food ever came. No appetizers, no entrees, and not even the bread and butter that we ordered. I found the management and most of the staff (but not all of them!) to be very arrogant and rude. Zero communication on the food delay and after asking for them to please, please, please just bring the bread and butter two more times with no result, we finally gave up and left, going down the street to Michaelangelos Pizza instead. I am rarely moved to write a bad review, but this incredibly rude and incompetent staff have earned it. They couldn't locate our reservation for some reason on their end and the "hostess" went out of her way to be extra rude about it - and remained rude and sneering throughout as did the "manager". After 50 minutes waiting for even some bread and butter for our starving kid, with no explanation or updates, we gave up and left. They seemed relieved to have one less table but not as relieved as we were to escape their miserable vibes and collection of bad tattoos. Do yourself a favor and steer clear. read more

Great service first off. I like that they leave a bottle of water at the table so you dont have to flag down anyone for a refill! They should just be a bit more observant of the bottles in need of a refill. The food was all delicious! I had the ribs and now I see that I had them the last 2 x I was here! I ordered take out and when I walked in to pick up the young lady at the front looked the other way and went over to have a conversation with the bar tender. There were 4 people in the bar. I stood and waited. The bar tender finally pointed at me and she turned to acknowledge me. $23+ for 2 pieces of fish and seriously about 20 French fries that were not fresh. We order side of Macaronie and cheese ,roasted Brussels sprouts and my friend ordered fried chicken sandwich on Challa with side of French fries .prior to receiving menus we ordered a pint of local beer on tap and a cola which were delivered at time of taking order ...all good ...45 minutes later waitress has not returned ..I hunted her down at the bar where she was cleaning glasses ..two gentleman still there,other diners had left. We were in the area staying at a hotel when we came to find this place. Happens to be a hole in the wall. Ambiance to start is very warm and homey. Staff and service was incredibly bright, kind and fast. Corn dip was average but when eating it with Tabasco it becomes. 10/10 We came on wing night so wings were 10 for 10 dollars and were they huge and juicy. 10/10 for taste and for value. Came to this town for a wedding. The chicken wings were tiny and flavor was meh. But the entrees were pretty good. When we came and mentioned we had a large party. I heard the waitress say they do not know if the kitchen can handle. But there weren't that many people to begin with. The ambience is nice. My food and a few friends were good. But one of our friends burger was so burnt black and somehow they still served it. He says it's too burnt and the waitress asked are you sure you don't want it. The waitress was super sweet but the question about the burger was redundant. No one will eat a burnt burger. Def recommend here for any people passing by this town. read more

On our upstate trip we actually ate here for dinner both nights bc not only was the food tasty and affordable, but the staff was excellent and friendly AND the specials/happy hour were on point!! The house sangria changes and I loved how they topped it with Prosecco. Def a sweet variation too. We went to Tavern on Main while staying at Villa Roma. This was a a short distance from where we were staying and we were glad we went. The food was very tasty and we were able to sit on the back patio outside. It was covered to help protect from the sun. The only downside was there were a lot of flies, but still manageable. The service was great. Our waitress shared the daily specials and menu changes with us and our food came out quickly. The prices were reasonable and a family of 4 was able to eat and drink for under ~$110 (including tip) which feels rare these days. read more

However, after reading strong anti-Semitic comments by owner, Lauren Seikaly, in the Sullivan County Democrat and on Facebook, I no longer feel comfortable walking into this or any of her other establishments in the town of Jeffersonville. Came here on a Sunday night because it was the ONLY place opened around the area after 7pm! We sat inside which the tables were socially spaced. The waitress was good at first. We got the food pretty quickly but we never got any water refill and at the end we waited a while to get our check. The food portions were pretty small compare to NYC. We got the ricotta with bread appetizer. The cheese has a more paste like texture. It was good but the portion was so small!! For $19 it was not worth it. See picture. The chicken wings was probably the best dish. We also got the special noodles dish, trout and roasted chicken . They were all very salty. The drinks were not that great either. One od them barely had alcohol in it! Watermelon margarita had way too much triple sec. We were not impressed. Wouldn't be coming back. We didn't even both with dessert. read more

This was a great spot for lunch when we were in the area. In fact after touring Bethel Woods museum we found Tavern on Main on yelp! It proved to be a great spot for a healthy(ish) lunch and some local beer. I really enjoyed the Turkey and Brie sandwich served on Cinnamon bread! It was served with a side salad. And my husband ordered the chicken sandwich served with fries. I tasted his and it was also good. The service was a little slow at first but once we gave our order the kitchen was fast with the order. The beers were served quickly and they were cold brews from the tap. The bar has a lot to select from! The setting was adorable and I really admired the decor. If we are in the area again we will stop back! read more

What appears as a roomy tavern in a very small town,a village actually, off an ancillary road in the Catskill Mountains, turned into quite a surprise for my darling bride and I. Jeffersonville, population 359 as of the last US census, has less people in it than in a typical housing project building in the neighborhood where I grew up.. What this village and tavern have that that project building did not is a phenomenal chef. John Nichols is that phenom. Chef John, as he is referred to, from the roasted veggies to the main dish, knows his spices, techniques and presentation. The pork loin was as moist and tender as any I've ever had and flavored in such a manner as to tingle taste buds from front to back. Usually, when I had such a dish, there is a signature spice or flavoring that dominates at the cost of all others. But like a fine wine that entices you by affecting different parts of the palate, this dish went from sweet to sensual to subtly aromatic with each morsel. It got to the point where, despite my hunger, I found myself cutting smaller pieces just to make it last longer. And on the subject of wine, nothing ruins a meal's potential quicker than a meager selection to accompany a well prepared meal. Tavern on Main offers a great selection of wines, both by the glass or bottle. My darling bride ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. Her dish was also well prepared and only my love for her prevented me from consuming more of her meal. Attached to the Tavern is a beer garden and an ice cream shop. While I chose a subtle but delicious creme brulee for dessert, my bride was in the mood for ice cream. Our server, a very charming lady, offered to go next door and retrieve the chosen flavor for us. We celebrated a birthday with a large party of all ages, including 5 kids under 6 years old. the back yard is a huge asset. The kids played in the large beautiful yard without bothering other guests. The adults were able to enjoy themselves knowing the yard is fences in. The food was excellent and our server was incredible. The back deck is our favorite spot. Wow! My boyfriend and i came up to Jeffersonville for the weekend and weren't too happy with our Valentines dinner at another place in town. We came to Tavern our 2nd night. We started with the shishito peppers and sticky ribs, both were to die for! The bread and butter they gave was delish, for dinner I had the filet mignon, and he had the trout, both were out of this world, and we've deemed it one of the top dinners we've ever had over all. We tried the Valentine's Day drink "chocolate raspberry martini" and that was just as good. Than we had the creme brule & a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake which were both out of this world. Great to see this Jeffersonville institution back open. Tonight's dinner was typical Tavern...fantastic. I and our dinner partners wish, going forward they return their menu to pre-pandemic fare. This place was amazing! The atmosphere and ambiance was very welcoming, the staff was attentive, kind and very pleasant, the food was delicious and the price was beyond fair! For a small town restaurant in the middle of the mountains, the menu was very diverse. Even the kids menu was great with unique choices. A few of my favorite things about dinner: -Because salmon can be served raw (sushi), they asked what temperature I wanted my salmon cooked to... and it was done perfectly for me. -The seasonal mixed vegetables were GRILLED. I got a beautifully charred mix of zucchini, squash, carrots and even a couple pieces of grilled corn cob! It was a very pleasant surprise to the usual summer mix. -The kids menu had a variety of choices from fish sticks to mini corn dogs, burgers, macaroni and cheese and even homemade applesauce. -The price was so worth it! For 3 adults and 2 kids our dinner (with a more than 20% tip) came to $110. We were all very satisfied and full! We absolutely will be coming back next year! Maybe even later in the week!! read more
