One of our favorite spots when we're in Callicoon. The staff is always really friendly, the food is generally better than you'd expect, and the space is cozy. We've enjoyed The Creek House sitting at the bar and in the dining room. Both have a nice vibe and service was really good in both parts of the restaurant. Even if I don't have an appetite for a big meal, I'm always happy to just grab a great pint of Guinness from the tap and a side of their fries, which are great! If you're looking for a more substantial meal, they have really good entrees. The short rib I had was excellent and almost too big for me to eat by myself ("almost" meaning I completely crushed the whole plate). We have friends in the area who go frequently, and I know they've had a few dishes that they didn't love, but even if a dish doesn't fire on all levels, the rest of the experience usually fill the gaps. You really can't go wrong with this spot. It's simple comfort food in a welcoming environment at a fair price. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

This place was recommended by the place we were staying at. We were hesitant at first since Callicoon was a decent drive away on local roads, but since I wanted to stop by the Catskills Distillery there (check that place out too along with my review), we ended up making the trip and were happy we did. The place was cute--dark floors and ceilings, with white walls and artwork. You walk in, and there is a nice bar area in the front and a dining area in the back. Food-wise, we ordered a Caesar salad, baked clams, the pan-seared salmon, and grilled pork chop entrees, along with a side of fries. Everything we ordered was solid. Some items could've used a bit more seasoning, but there was nothing I could be critical about. The real highlight, though, was the service. The servers checked in on all the guests, spoke with them, and made sure to cater to them. You could also tell when there were locals at tables because the servers would know what they liked and chat with them a bit more. We also saw the cutest couple who sat down right next to us. The funny thing was, they ordered almost the same exact dishes and drinks--it was almost like looking into the future. We came for a pre St Paddy's day dinner . Many holiday special on the menu . I had the lamb shank in a Guinness gravy it was wonderful . My husband had the salmon it was cooked perfectly. Mussels huge size orders, also plenty of choices for the kids . The service was as friendly as could be all food hot and out timely. The Guinness was as good as in Ireland confirmed! We came to Callicoon for a mini vacation and the host at our Air B&B told us that he's heard raving reviews about this place. So we went on Sat night - it was so good that we went again on Sunday night. My boyfriend says they have the best baked clams he's ever had (and he's had a lot of baked clams). I had the pot of seafood special (only available for Labor Day's weekend) and it was very good. Delicious French onion soup and braised short ribs! We'll be back the next time we visit!!! read more

Our group of 7 had an incredible meal here. Rarely do I visit a restaurant where every single dish was absolutely delicious. First time visit: Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Had a reservation. Restaurant and bar was very busy but we were good immediately seated. Had a St Patrick's Day dinner menu which looked great. Order a wonderful pint of Guinness. For dinner we ordered the chicken and salmon. Both came out quickly and were fantastic! Perfectly seasoned. Had a reservation, but wasn't needed as we went during the week. The owner, who had a great Irish accent greeted us and we got seated right away. Waitress was wonderful, recognized we were in the sun and moved us to a shady spot. Food, drinks, service was amazing. Owner came out and visited each table and asked if we were ok that someone was coming out to take pics for their website...thought that was a great sign of respecting people's privacy. What a local gem! First, the service is the best I've ever seen. Friendly and attentive staff served guests and cleared tables with prompt yet unobtrusive skill. Karen, who owns the grill with her husband Chef John, greeted all the guests with her gracious charm and checked in to make sure our expectations were being met. We enjoyed a price-fixed Valentine's Day special menu that was outstanding from start to finish. A crisp flute of dry prosecco followed by a crunchy and fresh cesar salad. The surf and turf was perfection. Fluffy lobster tail with butter and a thick medallion of beef tenderloin on a toast point. This was complemented with sides of mashed potato and steamed brocolli. I see my opinion is an anomaly compared to other reviews, but I just don't get it. Perhaps it's because I don't eat meat and their vegetarian offerings are limited and mediocre compared to everything else. I wouldn't have said anything, but a friend of mine who likes the place made a comment about that to the owner, in a friendly way, kind of like, why don't you have more vegetarian offerings or change them up a bit? (I think she was hoping to make the place more palatable to me so we'd go there more often). We were told that other customers are happy with what they have, so that was that -- not the best attitude imho. Of what I did have: - worst potato pancakes ever. Gummy, floury, pasty-- and served with ketchup! I don't think they understand what potato pancakes are or how they should be served. -- they put a farm source on the menu for the tomatoes in an appetizer I ordered, but I buy tomatoes from that farm nearly every week throughout the summer and I know what they look and taste like. What I had on my plate were not them. -- the homemade bean burger is ok. Only thing I've come across that's worth eating there. - drinks are boring and low quality compared to the stellar cocktails available at most other restaurants in the area. I see the Ambience item is still greyed out so II'll complete this by saying that the interior is little changed from the previous incarnation of this space that went all in on an unwelcoming minimalist vibe. It didn't serve that short-lived place well, but doesn't seem to deter people now. I suppose the deck makes up for it. Anyway, I'd choose almost any other place in the area. read more

This is the place to eat in Callicoon! We were looking for a casual place to have dinner so we looked at the menu online and said lets give this place a try. We were so happy we did. The service is wonderful , the place is comfortable and the food is amazing. The owners make sure their guests are satisfied and they do not disappoint. We started with the ceasar salad and the french onion soup. Delicious! then I had the grilled pork chop and I can honestly say it was the best porkchop I ever had. Juicy and delicious and full of flavor. My sister had the braised short ribs and they too were amazing. We also shared a dessert (homemade strawberry Rhubarb soooo good!)
