Very nice leather banquette seats lining the wall, comfortable, pleasant atmosphere, low lighting, candles. I came for lunch at noon. There were only two other parties, one couple and another table of five. At 12:45 they still hadn't started making my food and the waitress said it was because the cook was doing the other peoples food first. I said can I at least have a soup I'm diabetic and starving. She said even that will take time. I had to leave to go to an appointment so I was left without lunch and had to rush to a deli close by and eat in five minutes. What place can only handle one table at a time ? I can't speak to the food as obviously I didn't have any. They had a nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Wheelchair accessible. read more

Tavern on Reade is straight out of a movie or detective novel with its dark and moody atmosphere and classic bar on one side with the tables opposite. The service is fair -- New York grumpy with a side of attitude -- but not nasty. The food is above average, particular the chicken strips (9/10) which are made fresh. The burger was about a 6/10. It's pretty quiet at lunchtime but seems like a place for people in the know, as it's tucked in on a less popular pedestrian block. If you're in the area, give it a try. A Thursday, 5pm, not too much availability to sit at the bar, happy hour is from 3-7 FYI (beers 5$ cocktails 6$ I believe ) - and several patrons were already tipsy and we chose seats at a high hat to avoid anyone involved in their own fun times. We ordered food and a few beers. Burger was good, we both enjoyed the fries (crispy and delicious) but the dining partner ordered a jerk chicken wrap that had no spice or flavor. Walked in Saturday 5/18 around 3:00 PM. Ordered (2) burgers medium rare served perfectly! Sweet potatoe fries were awesome. At the time we walked in there was no wait staff so we ordered at the Bar. Bar Tender did a superb job handling the bar patrons and taking care of patrons in the dining room. (Poured a tasty pint of Guinness!! As well) He also served as the Bus Boy, clearing tables!!! Wouldn't recommend. Restaurant was dirty. Food was average. Service was terrible. We walked here from the courthouse for lunch today. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and sweet potato fries. Sandwich was mediocre and they forgot my fries. So I reminded them. They came at the end of my meal. Everyone's meals were brought out at different times. Lots of mistakes in everyone's orders. It was raining like crazy. We were in a need of a place to eat that had bathrooms. We were losing hope. Thankfully, Tiona came into our rescue and welcomed us with open arms. She was the sunshine to this gloomy rain and went above and beyond for us. It's not easy to be a server at a pub. We were so thankful that somebody as resilient and kind as Tiona was our server. She also happily served us hot water with lemon, and helped steady our table without us asking. Seriously, bless your heart! We love you. We also like to thank José, the chef. The fries are chef-kiss cooked to perfection. Crisp. Highly recommend the fries. We indulged-- and I got to say we especially enjoyed the onion soup. :) Hamburger is classic -- plus if you like chicken you can go for the chicken tenders or wrap. If you hang around long enough you get to visit old places, new places and places that change names. I remember coming here when it was called "Spagetti Western" loved it then...love it now. This is the kind of pub that is really a treat. It's not a "dive bar", in fact it's quite nice and clean. Unfortunately I was there during happy hour, and popped in just around noon, to a light smattering of people. Bartender was very sweet and friendly, even when I start with my boring "I used to come in here years ago", talk. The space is a nice, classic wooden bar, with high booths in the main dining area. QR menu details even the daily specials. Most items are in the $14 to $16 range for lunch, which I find reasonable. The grilled chicken club sandwich I ordered was served on some fresh rye bread, lightly toasted w/ a side of fries. The chicken was fresh and plump and perfectly charred. I really enjoyed that sandwich. Also, while it's a small thing, I enjoy restaurants that offer some type of automated check out, like Square or Toast on a device. It just eases my day. Anyway...I'm going to come back to check same more of the items. I think there's real value here. read more

Stopped by this bar/restaurant recently mostly because my husband and I wanted to try their macaroni and cheese. It's one of our favorite comfort foods and it did not disappoint! :D I also had the chicken tenders with honey mustard dipping sauce and an order of tater tots and they were delicious too! The only reason why I didn't give a 5-star rating is because there was only 1 person working for the tables and the bar the entire time we were there. I had to get up, walk to the bar and ask for a refill of our drinks. The service was friendly and I also really enjoyed the music because it was a little bit of everything. I will be back ... but next time, I think it will be to take advantage of their happy hour. ;) read more

After a nearby bar closed, we searched for a new spot to call home. Tavern on Reade was a contender and we were excited to try it out. The menu offered great options, but burgers were the go-to for my party. I wanted the Beyond Burger, which they did not have so I settled for the turkey burger, which came with crispy fries. I would have loved more spices or heat with my burger to give it a little kick. It paired nicely with the High Noon Black Cherry Hard Seltzer. We sampled from each other's plates and then ordered our own plates lol. I loved the basket of golden tater tots. I heard rave reviews about the mac & cheese skillet and the crab cake sandwich. Those were the hits but there were some misses like the hot chicken & waffle, the chicken wings, and the apple crumble. The wings needed a little more time to crisp up and sometimes it is best not to deviate from the original fried chicken and waffle recipe. I love apple crumble, but I was puzzled. The crunch was there. However, the dessert was lukewarm, the apple slices were cold, and it was not served with ice cream. With a jukebox in the corner, we took turns as the DJ through a mobile app and had an impromptu karaoke session in our booth. We had fun. What more could you ask from a bar? read more

This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and was desperately needed. It is beautifully renovated with a lot of TVs and a huge list of draft beers. What my friends and I experienced last night was inexcusable. We were simply looking for a place to have a bite but seconds into walking in, a young man from a large group rudely made vulgar comments. My friends and I wanted to ignore this and made our way to the back, near where the workers were- want to also note that except for the group in the front, the place was nearly empty. However, the man followed us, charged to the back and nearly physically assaulted my friends and I, loudly making more obnoxious comments. His friends just laughed in the background. The workers didn't bat an eye or say anything even though it was happening right in front of them, and we'd never felt more hurt and uncared for. I went in with my partner to stake advantage of the amazing happy hour here and when we walked in there was no one to greet us or seat us. There was no sign saying "Please wait to be seated" just QR codes on every table. Usually that means you might be able to order from phone. After taking a seat and figuring out what we wanted. We ordered at the bar because that's the only worker we saw. We even got the ok not sit at the bar. After we ordered and sat down another waitress finally came up to us and asked what we wanted to order. We let her know we already ordered at the bar and she became very rude and hostile toward us saying we "are taking up seats in her section" (section was completely empty) and scolded us like we were children for ordering at the and walked away. This shouldn't happen she was astronomically disrespectful and did not apologize. If we waited for her to seat and take our order we would've wasted 30mins. I suggest coaching this older waitress. Ordered a tavern burger with tots. The bun came out soggy i could not even hold it to eat. I went back to get a new Bun they were surprised to see me back they didnt know I worked nearby :). They took the order gave me back 2/3 of a cold roll bread not a bun and the tots were refried until burnt with pieces of other French fries from god knows where at this point. Never again will I come here, also while waiting for the order to be given back with a new bun the waitress asked me if I worked for a law firm. They knew what they were doing. Very unethical at the very least say you don't have the bun so I could not be here now 20 dollars short and without lunch at 3pm. Threw the food out as I didn't even feel safe eat something from people like that even though I'm so hungry. Learn from my mistakes dont come here plenty of other places nearby. read more

But we were completely ignored even though we went right where the staff were standing by the counter. Shortly after we came in, someone from the other group came over to make vulgar comments and physically tried to come after my friend right in front of the staff, who just watched. I'm writing this review much later than when the incident occurred, but it still needs to be talked about. We walked into the restaurant looking for a place to grab a quick bite, but we were completely ignored. None of the workers greeted us and we just awkwardly stood there. What made it 100x worse is that we were a group of girls being harassed by one of the drunk customers and no one helped us. He made vulgar comments and even followed us to the back of the restaurant. We were terrified and left immediately after. Should you support an establishment where no one speaks up for the safety of others? No, you should not. Maybe we were treated differently because we are from a different demographic, but I'll never step foot in there again. read more
