We had a dinner planned for 8 friends and I put a lot of effort into researching a spot where we could enjoy being outside during Chicago summer. I booked a spot on the rooftop and received a confirmation back that we'd be seated there. Upon arrival on a beautiful night, we were informed there was an event being held on the rooftop - it felt really dishonest to me that we were confirmed and then moved without a call to advise of the change, since the rooftop was the reason we booked and events are usually planned well in advance. Food was solid as was the service, and we had a great night, but I was disappointed in the lack of transparency on rooftop availability, especially after telling everyone in our group that we would be dining on the rooftop. Seems to be a trend in looking at other reviews which is disappointing. read more

Came here with some friends to watch USA play Belgium in the world cup. I drive by pretty frequently but this was my first time here. It's paid to park mostly everywhere by the bar but was able to find free street parking by the park. They have a nice rooftop. I believe it's new. Could use more TVs outside but it was manageable. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese and it was pretty tasty! I substituted for sweet potato fries for an extra $1. We got an elote dip to share for the table and it was solid. No complaints there. My husband said the fried chicken sandwich was mostly breading and less chicken. To drink I ordered the pina sko rita which I think is a hybrid between a pina colada & a marg. I really enjoyed this drink! Comes with a rim of tajin. I would say my biggest complaint was that our food took 30+ min to come out. read more

Upgraded bar food and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly. Prices were reasonable. On this occasion my husband got the lobster roll burger and I got the filet sliders. Food was decent. I enjoyed my filet sliders. It paired well with my Eris Cider. Husband was still hungry after eating here but that is nothing new. This establishment had live music and the crowd was friendly. My sister and I had planned to head to the Loop for Restaurant Week, but a sleepy and crabby toddler led to a change of plans that brought us to Tavern on the Point. My friend Joneice turned me onto the InKind app, which this place is listed on (as of January 2026) so we decided to give them a try. The food was not bad. I'd been considering a reuben but my curiosity got to me and I ordered the mac and cheese burger. It was pretty good, though I'm not sure it would be my first choice again. I'd order the macaroni and cheese as an individual item, particularly for my child. This time I got for her the buttered noodles which she liked a lot and actually I thought were really good too--I understand it's a pretty plain selection, but it was better than at other places. Their kid's menu was listed on the InKind app, I think, but I didn't see it on their menu I found elsewhere so you may want to take a look; I know they had the noodles and a hamburger on there, and they may also have had chicken tenders and a couple other things. read more

I came in 30 mins prior to happy hour on a holiday weekend and was immediately seated outside on the second floor patio. It was a beautiful day out so I was thrilled. Hey this place is great! Such a cool space and a huge menu with a ton of delicious options. My friend and I came here for Saturday brunch. Christina was our server and she was fantastic. Horrible, horrible experience!!! First, a 25% gratuity was automatically added to my bill, which is excessive -- especially considering the service was extremely slow and inattentive. On top of that, they added a 3% credit card fee, which should be a cost absorbed by the business, not passed on to customers! Should be illegal!! Had an opportunity to visit here for a private event and enjoyed my time at the space. In the upstairs area, there is room to fit up to 50 people with restrooms and a patio area adjacent to the bar. I found this to be a good setup with enough space to wander around and the noise level being fairly reasonable for the number of people in the space. I also had a chance to try many different items such as the Caesar Salad, Sliders, Chicken Fingers, Fries, Waffle fries, and more. Overall I found the food to be pretty similar to the more upscale options I've tried with a good level of execution. Items didn't feel too greasy and were seasoned appropriately. read more

The food and service here is good. However, their taxing policies are not. In addition to the "restaurant tax" and "credit card service fee" tax they also add a "sugar tax" whether you have any sugary drinks or not and they only indicate it was charged after you pay. This is a review for their private events. I haven't been there as a regular restaurant patron (yet). I attended Mr. P's high school reunion in their upstairs space. The staff was phenomenal. We arrived about 10 minutes before the event began, so I was privy to hearing the staff game plan about the upcoming party. It was nice to hear them talking through everything, not just waiting for the event to start and then winging it. They asked the host when to set out the food and it was set out right on time. They were sufficiently staffed on bartenders and servers so there were only brief waits for drinks and servers floated around the event getting needed items and tidying up used dishes. Everything stayed clean despite the crush of people. The food was unbelievable. I would have considered it excellent if it was served to me as an individual diner. To get it in bulk from a buffet and still have that quality was top notch. The pasta and meatballs were delicious. The beef sliders were a bit dry but easily remedied by dunking them in the pasta sauce or marinara. The facility was lovely as well We briefly saw the downstairs as we left and it looked cool. We were upstairs, accessible through a narrow stairway (and I assume an elevator?) The lighting is dimmer, but not dark, with high top tables and a nice bar. Stopped in at the Edison Park spot for dinner the other night. Sat at the bar and the bartender greeted me quickly and with a smile. The old fashioned was solid but unfortunately the best part of the night. I ordered the Asiago Chicken Milanese and it was under seasoned and over cooked. The tomato cucumber salad on top was fresh and tasty. I ordered the filet sliders to take home for my wife and again under seasoned. She is really nice, friendly, dedicated to work and pleasant person! We didn't make a reservation, but since it wasn't busy we asked to be sited outside, and we were. Atmosphere was good too. Think leather, plaid, and tobacco. (No smoking but I'm talking about vibe) The bar area is super nice and chic. It has outdoor seating, a rooftop, but we enjoyed a comfortable cozy booth. Tavern on the Point is a great neighborhood spot for a date night, celebration, brunch, or to simply share a meal with family! We decided to celebrate our anniversary there, it being close to home and knowing they have delicious food. It did not disappoint! My wife is a sucker for a good vodka sauce pasta and this one was so delightfully creamy and flavorful! She added the chicken, but if she were to order again, she'd probably try it with the blackened chicken to give it extra flavor as the regular chicken did seem a bit bland. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan which was a great portion size and the chicken was very well seasoned. The star of the night however, was the fried calamari! We were a bit weary at first of the sweet chili glaze it was tossed in since we are calamari purists, but it was such a delicious surprise! The flavors from the glaze along with the paired house made sriracha-aioli was such a treat for our tastebuds. We ended the night with a cookie skillet that was on the house in honor of our anniversary. Such a sweet and unexpected surprise! Sat down at the bar and noticed the filth immediately. Wet glass rings and some other crud. Two bartenders doing nothing. 6 of here, not like they're busy. Im actually afraid to order anything from the kitchen. Can't keep what the customer see's clean I can imagine what the kitchen looks like. Okay, so I ordered a lobster roll. Pretty good. When I was presented my meal by the food runner I mentioned the condition of the bar. At this time there are 3 bartenders. Still doing NOTHING. This young gentleman preceded to clean the whole bar. Barely seated into a booth when the waitress was at us for our drink orders - no lie - 3x within 10 minutes. Then twice in next 10 min suggesting apps, which we declined - and once our drinks were on the table - "dyanowhatchagonnahave"? Ambiance was lacking, young staff was inexperienced - BUT the chicken dish with rice/tomatoes in wine was excellent and the serving was plentiful. Just hosted a group of friends and our kids in the upstairs bar/party room for the football game and it couldn't have been a better time! This space is such a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Food: 5/6 of us really enjoyed our meals. The 1 person that got seafood did not really enjoy his. The rest of us got pasta or steak and all was good there. Appetizers were good too. We got chicken wings, pizza and fried calamari. Drinks: cocktails were very good, no complaints there. Only issue is some items were not available and it would have been nice if they told us from the beginning, as the wait was super long to finally get drinks due to many being unavailable or being given a cheaper substitute without asking us first. I would give 4/5 stars for food & drinks. The service was inconveniently slow in the beginning and felt like there was some lack of transparency. We waited over 20 mins to get our first round of drinks. If these issues didn't occur I would have been more inclined to give 4 stars. read more

A friend recommended this place for lunch and, after meeting her there, I agree that it's good. The bar had a slight, welcoming beer smell as soon as I walked in, which I appreciate. There is outside seating that looks nice, but we had to sit inside because of the unpleasant weather. As brunch was still being served (until 15:00), I ordered the Denver omelette and my friend had the crepes. The omelette was good, although not the best I have ever had. The server, who was very attentive, brought me cake because she saw that my friend brought me a gift bag that said "happy birthday." I'm normally not a cake person, but she brought it so had to try it. She called it a cannoli cake or something and it was good, not too sweet. I've been here a few times. For the special brunch like Mother's Day or for the frozen themed days. Overall the food is good and the service was fine. However, the last time I went on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty empty. The service was awful. We had my one year old with us and she was losing her mind befit took over an hour to get our food. Because it was empty, I didn't see the reason for the poor service. The food was good, but nothing special (or maybe I was tainted by the poor service) I asked for a to go box and after waiting 10 minutes (sadly this isn't even an exaggeration) we left, and left our leftovers there as well. read more

This place based its entire personality and social media on the fact it has a rooftop. The problem is that the rooftop is never open. I've gone several times with the intent to sit on this allusive rooftop, only to be turned away. It seems ridiculous that the bar uses the rooftop as its main selling point but never actually opens it. We've received several excuses: too hot, too cold, private parties, you name it. All of that is understandable as a one off situation, but the fact it's happened 5-6 times in a row is insane. If you're looking for a rooftop that's open regularly, there are far better options in the area. Disappointing. read more
