Just had our taxes done by Nora whom was very professional, great bed side manners and worked with our crazy schedule. She explained everything so well during our visit. We aren't very familiar with taxes and numbers but she made sure we didn't leave without understanding everything. In October 2014 I received a letter from the IRS to examine our 2012 tax returns. I interviewed about 3 to 4 firms and decided to have Tony represent our case. Under Tony's guidance and professional representation, we closed our case with $0 tax due, success achieved during the first scheduled meeting with the officer, on December 3rd. What a relief! After checking out the solid reviews of Tax Plus, my wife and I decided to go here for our 2014 taxes. Our situation is (semi) basic; we both have W2's and I'm also self-employed, but nothing crazy beyond that. Anyhow, we arrived on a Saturday, and was greeted by the receptionist, and later we met up with Tony. Tony was very calm and collected, and we chatted about his beautiful daughter, being a parent, and all the fun that comes with that ... We found out he's been doing this for something like 25 years, and he also has a financial-planning background, which I think is really cool, seeing as how he can see your situation from not only the legal but investment perspectives. He walked us through different situations; what if we tried to itemize work-related expenses? How about this deduction? What if we go this route on the Schedule C ...? We were very impressed, and even though we ended up owing money to "The Man", Tony did the math and showed us that we were actually right on target from last year; the snaffu was more due to how our employers extracted federal taxes from our paychecks (or in this case - "didn't"). One of the things I was most impressed with was when Tony mentioned he would email me a copy of our return; now, I'm pretty tech-savvy and I was instantly nervous because email is (inherently) an insecure medium, but I thought - ah well, I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Sure enough, the PDFs arrive, and they're password-protected - nice touch! We'll definitely be going back, and we look forward to the insight Tony also has to provide regarding investments like college planning for our kids, etc. * Pro Tip: park off of Venice, around the corner in the neighborhood - because Venice is only 1-hour parking, and it's lame (and embarrassing) to have to get up and move your car before you're finished. read more

I'll be honest-- I was skeptical of all the five star reviews. Seemed a little weird. But after my husband and I got our taxes done with Tony at Tax Plus, it all started to make sense. Tony and his team have this tax preparation business down to a science. He emails you to make sure you are prepped for your meeting with checklists and reminders, scans your documents into digital decks on the spot, etc. He is responsive to emails, flexible with schedules, patient during your meeting and helpful in answering questions. The whole process was relatively painless despite our rather complicated status-- we had gotten married, moved states, changed jobs, owned a rental property, etc. etc. Tony made everything very easy for us. As you can see, Tony and Tax Plus have many great reviews on Yelp, which they deserve. I was shocked to read the recent 1 star review by "Cyrus G"; and if I were you I'd ignore it as a bizarre aberration, even assuming that he is "for real." The Tony I know isn't capable of acting as he described. On the contrary, he is so accessible, and returns calls and emails very promptly. Related to my 2011 tax return and a problem I had with TurboTax, the IRS was assessing failure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties that amounted to a decent chunk of change. Initially I tried to handle it myself with the IRS, but after 7 months I still didn't have a resolution. The IRS notices were getting more and more menacing. I decided I needed some professional help and gave Tax Plus a call. I was able to get an appointment the next day with Tony, who is an IRS enrolled agent. He knows how to work with the IRS to get things done on your behalf.
