As we were traveling across a few states from California we found out our kids childhood friend Taylor had a new coffee shop in Spokane Washington. We surprised him with our visit but we were pleasantly surprised at how cool this place was! Great food, fresh baked goods, yummy coffee and the best part Great people, service and atmosphere!

Also, my toast came already with melted butter which was a nice touch (can't believe some places still don't butter their toast, but I get that some ppl would prefer they not do that). Service was excellent - my waitress, Amy, was super nice, took my order quickly, and my meal was brought to me in less than 10 minutes! I'll def be back.

The waiter staff are excellent. They will start a conversation with you if you engage. Very friendly. Even the cook-I was sitting at the bar-asked me how my meal was sitting. I told him-well, I did not actually say it-but I should have told him the hash browns were to die for! If I had just a tiny complaint, I would mention to fry up the browns a little crispier. (That's just me). I always order the chicken fried steak with eggs. Perfection. The correct temperature when served. And, they keep filling your coffee mug until you are wired and need to take a hike to burn off the energy! Anyway, you drink as much or as little as you want. Any time I'm hungry for breakfast food, I think of this place. Throwback decor, real waitresses, and energetic cooks. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, people are waiting to get in. But you won't wait long. But if you do, it will be worth it.

Another master class by Jamie Aquino! I've been eyeing her Farm to Table class for a couple years…read moreand finally had the chance to attend with my dad. This class is great because you also get a trip to the Kendall Yards Farmers Market where Jamie breaks down what's in season and an ideas for how to use various ingredients. You shop along with her as she picks out the main ingredients for the class and have time to shop yourself before getting started with the actual class back at the Kitchen Engine. Her classes and dishes are vegetarian and plant-based so you leave with nutritious and delicious recipes. My only disclaimer is that this class (and really any class) will be challenging for those with mobility issues. The walking involved at the market with this class and the bar stool seating for the 3-hr class was difficult for my father, who has mobility issues. That said, he has a blast. Just a callout so you know what to expect.

Lo and behold, there was one of the best kitchen gadget ships I've ever experienced combined with a cafe combined with a cooking school. This place is seriously the best of three worlds. I was able to buy some loose leaf tea for my daughter, the cortado was DELICIOUS, and they had some very specialized kitchen tools o haven't seen anywhere else (pizza scissors that double as servers!) if you're a foodie, a chef, or just someone who likes good espresso, this is the place to stop in. Plus, my honey forgot his water bottle when we ordered coffee and the baristas were so kind to have set it aside for us when we later returned. LOVE this place.
