Customer service; I received daily updates on the job status including images. Any and all changes or recommendations were ran by me first. 3. Professionalism; The crews respected my property and left the work site clean and without any evidence other than the work completed that they were even on site. 4. Timely; I was blessed to have no rain delays in the 4 days. The crews were on time every day and worked so hard all day in the insane heat only stopping for a quick lunch break. 5. Quality; Way beyond the expectations and up to code. 6. Cost; breakdown of cost was transparent and they were willing to work with me on compromise for cost cutting in appropriate areas. You get what you pay for and I believe they put my money to effective use with the high quality I received. Southern Industries Home Improvements/Taylor Construction Company window replacement sales -- buyer beware! They use high-pressure sales techniques. The reason I chose them is because they supposedly sold the top rated windows I found on Consumer Reports. I should have been suspicious when they said, actually insisted, that both the deciders (me and my wife) on window installation should be at our meeting. The first thing they did when we met was try to talk me out of the windows I wanted. They said they had not installed them in 10 years and they had other windows that let more light in. Yet somehow they had a sample of that "inferior" window (supposedly - because it's the one they don't sell) that they compared to the window they wanted to upsell to me. They came up with a price and then tried to get my wife and I to agree to it on the spot! That pressure continued. I finally told them I would not buy today and that I needed a written estimate. They continued to try to convince me to sign a contract today saying that I was being offered a discount that wouldn't last past Monday at 10 AM. Deciding before 10am Monday would've prevented me from getting any other estimates prior to the expiration of their "good deal." I still refused to buy and requested a written estimate. I still have not received that written estimate and it's been more than a month. I did get a call on the Monday following our weekend meeting. The woman stated that she understood I was concerned with the price and that they had a "sister company" that could do similar quality for less. This was all starting to sound pretty ridiculous. I told her I wanted a written estimate of that quote or the one I had been promised over the weekend. That was the last I heard from them. I never received an estimate. While watching an infomercial for "Bathwraps" I called the number provided on TV 1-800-407-9087 and was scheduled an appointment with Taylor Construction on Tuesday, April 17 at 10:00am. After re-arranging my work schedule for the appointment, I received a call 40 minutes before the appointment saying they couldn't make it (one person was sick). Understanding people get sick and call in sick for work, however, one of the main reasons we use "established" companies is Not to Rely on one person for our work to be done. Please don't spend your hard-earned money with this company. Please check out Google and Facebook reviews. We purchased new windows in 2015. These windows carry a lifetime warranty. What a joke that turned out to be! The windows failed and are very drafty - mold is growing on the inside of them. This company is all too pleased to sell their product, but their warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Seriously. They will give you the run-around. We were told by Don in the service department that no one contacted us to set a warranty appointment because one of the workers was out with a bad back. We asked why he didn't call and he said, "I can't possibly contact all my customers". Ok. An appointment was finally made (after waiting two months) to come out and, of course, no one showed up. We called the following day. Don called us back to apologize and made an appointment for the following week. Guess what? They didn't show. No call this time either. Also, my husband took two days off work because, apparently, Taylor Construction doesn't deal with women (read the reviews on Google & Facebook). Fair warning - look at the reviews. This place somehow got my phone number and has called me 39 times over the last 5 days--not exaggerating--it's ridiculous. Not once did I pick up until today when I requested to be taken off of their robo caller. I was then called two more times--the last time I told them to please stop calling and the lady hung up on me--no apology, nothing, just "click." So I called them back and was hung up on twice without even speaking to anyone. So, I called from my wife's personal phone and work phone. Surprisingly (not), someone answered when I called from her work phone since the number was completely different from our personal phones. They proceeded to tell me they didn't know who was calling and when because it was automated. She assured me she would take my number off the list. When I questioned how she was going to do that without the number, she (obviously) saw the number on caller ID and repeated my wife's work phone number. When I told her that was the incorrect number, she rattled off my wife's other number and then my number. So if it's automated like she said, I'm not sure how she connected the other numbers to me. It also proves they knew who and when they were calling and they knew I was calling to be removed from the list so they just hung up on me. Beyond ridiculous and shady shady shady. I wouldn't use this company if they were the last company on earth and my life depended on it. Yes, I would rather die or just do it myself--from the reviews, it sounds like they use someone less qualified than I am to do the actual work anyway. This is my second review for the same company. The windows were installed August 1st (please see my other review) and I discovered on Christmas Eve that one of the windows leaks. When checking the other windows, I discovered scores of tiny dead flies on the window sills, though the salesman claimed that they wouldn't be able to get in with the new windows. I emailed the salesman, Andy Taylor, and he, in typical fashion, responded that he would forward my concerns to the general manager and service manager. I have never heard from the general manager and the service manager only contacted me after I complained to the Better Business Bureau. This has been the most wretched, most frustrating experience in my life and I paid $14,000 for it. read more

Best experience I've ever had in dealing with a contractor! My appointment was scheduled with Randy Maynard, he was absolutely professional, compassionate, and extremely respectful of our home. Initially, I was only interested in getting a new shower and ended up getting the shower and the walk-in bathtub. On demo day a young man, Adam (very young) showed up alone and my immediate thought was this is not going to go well at all. Boy was I wrong! His helper showed up and they got busy. They were very engaging, professional and completely respectful of our home. I am 100% plus satisfied with the complete job from start to finish. We had Gutter Glove installed by Taylor Construction. One area was not installed properly. We've called for months trying to get someone out to fix it. When it rains water shoots off the house onto our wooden deck instead of being routed down the gutter. Every time we call we are promised a resolution by X date, but X date comes and goes, and we have to follow up again. Very frustrating! read more

I have received MULTIPLE solicitation calls from them ever since, including the latest just 10 minutes before I left this review. We had 32 windows installed by Taylor construction and now i have been dealing with them to replace 10 of them since February. I have sent them emails regarding what's the status and have not received any feedback. I was told the company that installed them went out of business but Taylor would honor my warranty. I was pleased to hear that when they went through my original contract to pinpoint the windows that need replacement but it seems now it has come to a halt. Good customer service requires communication and that's not happening I would like to know how that other woman was able to get them to replace her windows as they are sure not doing it for me!!!!' Had them come out to bid on gutters. Made the mistake of hiring them after the "sales" representative over stated their capabilities. When they came to remove the existing gutters the installer confirmed Taylor constructiom contracts out all of their work and are in fact essentially an arm of Gutter Guard and that he (the installer) was unable to complete the services I contracted for. I came out of my own pocket to hire another company to remove the gutter covers which was part of the service supposedly included with my purchase of gutters with Taylor. Taylor was MONTHS late with the install and did not even take the time to call me and explain why. When I called them they blamed it on their supplier, Kohler. They made an absolute mess of my bathroom. I specifically asked if they were using a dust barrier and was assured they would. They did not. My entire bathroom was covered in construction dust. The seal on the shower pan has now come apart from the floor, allowing water under the pan. I am about to dispute my credit card charge - as the only time I get their attention is when I owe them money. I urge you to look elsewhere for a better contractor. In 2008 we had 11 windows replaced by Taylor Construction. They did a great job and we have enjoyed the windows ever since. We saw a great savings on our utility bills each month and the house was warmer in winter and cooler in summer. This past year 2018, four of the windows failed (seal was broken letting in moisture). Even though the window company had gone out of business, Taylor Construction honored the warranty and charged only a nominal fee for installation. We were impressed by their honesty and responsiveness. We just had them install 5 new windows in the front of our house, where they honored a quote from last year on pricing. There was an immediate difference in the temperature in these rooms. I will continue to use them to replace more windows in our home. read more

If there was a minus Star, I would click on it. I had gutter guards installed and it has been a nightmare from the beginning. I've had people out to tell me that the overflow problem I have is due to "roof maintenance". Splash guards where installed in the corners and now I have debris build up. So I called again and got a new guy who told me that the gutters should have never been installed because of the pitch of my roof. He said he was going to have a "higher up" call me because he could make the decision on what to do. Now he said he was the customer service manager. BTW, he said he replaced the other guy because he wasn't doing the job. So I waited 2 weeks and no one called. I called and left message stating I haven't anyone. He calls me back today and tells me that no one had Taylor has talked to me since the last service call on February 17. SERIOUSLY!!! I called him back and wasn't very nice when I told him that he was wrong and, in fact, we had talked 2 weeks ago. He made the excuse it talks to a lot of people during the day and sometimes one slips through the cracks. Yes, he actually said that. After I finished venting, he said "so you have an overflow problem what do you want done". I told him that I was done with Taylor because regardless of what is promised nothing happens. I did tell him that I was going to post on the web. So $5,000 later, I have an overflow problem that requires bricks at the founder of my home so that it doesn't wash away. And I have to clean out the corners so that the debris doesn't continue to accumulate. My dream of maintenance free gutters was just that a dream. read more

Had seal broken on window and called to replace, took 4 weeks just to find out window ordered was too short. Reordered window and next one took another 4 weeks and window locks didn't match. Reordered both top and bottom window only to have the grids different from window side by side as well as locks different and lifters different size. Reordered again only to find out different manufacture involved, windows arrive without grid. Reordered again only 1 window lock per window whereas the rest of the house has 2 locks per window and only half screens not full screens. Customer (non) service throughout whole process, one excuse after another, no return phone calls or emails. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

Taylor Construction AKA Southern Window and Siding is a company with a good product but in my opinion highly questionable business practices. My best advice, read the reviews on Yelp, and Angie's List at least and get at least two other estimates. I called Taylor Construction in late May/early June 2019 to get an estimate for new gutters for our 2100 sq. ft. single story home. The salesman measured the house and then presented his product. He told us we needed 250 linear feet of gutter. Interesting since my wife and I had carefully measured the same facia boards at 188 ft. When I confronted the salesman with this he went back out to his vehicle and said he must have added wrong because he now also had 188 ft. I know that contractors regularly "pad" estimates therefore I was prepared. It is possible that this was a simple math mistake but interesting that a man with so much experience in the business (as he had told me) would be off by 62 feet. After this, he took out a blank sheet and writes a figure in excess of $9000.00. Then he continued to write more notes and more figures. Finally, he explains how the original cost to us would be nine thousand some dollars but we were eligible for several discounts that would reduce the price to $7,500.00. He had already shown me an example of the gutter they used and how it was installed. He agreed with the type of installation we currently had except that he recommended two additional downspouts. It all sounded reasonable and the sample seemed very solid. It also came with a lifetime no-clog guarantee. I was pleased and asked him for a written estimate. That's when the hard sell started. He said he could not give me a written estimate unless I was ready to sign a contract right then! In addition, if I was not ready to sign immediately I would loose all the discounts. These types of hard sell tactics are effective but untrue (the discounts always reappear if you agree to sign later on) and in my opinion, unethical. When I told him I wanted to get other estimates, he grabbed up the paper with his figures on it and would not let me make a copy. He even made me promise not to discuss the price I would pay with my of my neighbors. Before he left he did agree to send me an estimate by email. Several days and several calls to his business later it was clear no estimate would be coming. By this time you should be seeing the red flags that I saw. A few days later I got a call fro Taylor Construction. A lady there said that they had a sister company, Southern Window and Siding that was newer, smaller and had lower overhead. She said they should be able to do the job for less. I agreed to an appointment. It turns out that this is simply "step two" of their sales strategy, aimed at customers who don't bite at first. I later found out that Southern Window and Siding Co. is at the same address as Taylor Construction. However, this salesman said he had no information from the first salesman. Thus he started by re-measuring our house and interestingly got 188 ft. on the first try. After his sales pitch and all included discounts (that amazingly were still available to us), he presented me with a new price of $4897.00. From over $9000 to $7,500 to $4897. Wow! Silly me, I went for it. I signed the contract. The salesman collected $1616.00 from me right then, 30% of the total cost. He told me I had three days to change my mind and get a full refund. He said the company was busy and that it would be 2-3 weeks before work could be started and I said that was ok. Then the wait started. Nearing the two week date I called Southern/Taylor and asked about a start date. I was told that the agreement was 2-3 weeks and that I needed to wait. The contract was signed on May 8th. May 29th was three weeks. On or about May 27th I called the office and said that I was told 2-3 weeks and it was now almost three weeks and I didn't even have a start date. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that none were available. I made other calls to the company, was told the management staff were in a meeting, called a number of a manager on an information sheet that came with the contract paperwork...he answered and said he didn't know how I got his number and transferred me to another number where I had to leave a voice message. In other words, I was getting the old run around. On May 28th I received a call from Mr. Pete Sacheli, General Sales Manager for Southern Window etc. He told me that it would still be 3-4 weeks and again, would not provide me with a start date. From 2-3 weeks to 5-7 weeks and no end in sight. I said I was tired of delays and he said that per contract I would forfeit my $1616.00 deposit if I cancelled. I told him I thought that his company was in breach of the oral contract to start within 2-3 weeks of the contract signing. A couple days ago we got an estimate from another company, same basic type gutter, same guarantee: $2949.00. You judge. read more

Brett was our sales rep who thoroughly explained the quality windows from Taylor Construction. I thought it extreme he used a 'heat lamp' during demo BUT we live in Georgia and he was RIGHT! You can touch the sun drenched 90+ degree window on the inside and there's NO heat. They were measured and ordered correctly and installers where professional, took their time and did a great job. After reading some of the other reviews, I guess I'm not surprised by my experience. A young fellow knocked on my door while I was working at home today. He said they were doing work in the neighborhood and asked if I needed windows replaced. I told him that I'd be interested in a quote. After looking at my schedule we agreed on 9 AM the next day. He then said that both me and my wife would need to be present. I told him our schedules didn't align and if that was a requirement then no worries just to cancel it. He said it should be fine and took my information. I received a call from someone else to confirm the appointment. They asked me about my wife not being able to present. I again tell them our schedules don't align, but the guy I talked to said that would be fine. However, this person didn't like that and wanted to reschedule a different time. I told him just to cancel it. It's upsetting that my day was interrupted by a knock on the door, I was lied to, and my time was wasted. I won't be doing any business with this company. read more

First of all when they finally came to install the gutter guards it was one person to do the installation when we were promised a crew. The gutter guard system was not installed properly. If there is a bad storm with heavy rain, there is a leak in our home because the gutter system can't handle it. Called numerous times to get issue resolved and they want us to pay for repair. When Taylor installed our gutters they were perfect. Fast forward to 2009 when they contacted us about Windows. They came out and took up 4 1/2 hours of our time showing us the windows and doing their sales pitch. I finally had to tell them either give me a price quote or leave. They gave us a quote and we replaced 13 of the 17 windows in our home. They were unable to replace the last 4 because they did not have a product at the time that met the specification of those windows. They were 4 weeks later than the original date. There were two windows that did not line up inside our home with the walls. It took 2 weeks for them to come back out and repair those areas. Fast forward to July 2018. They contacted me and I agreed to have some one come out and measure the last 4 windows. AGAIN they would not meet with just me, my husband had to be present as well. It was another 3 hour ordeal. I was charged a $200 EPA lead paint fee, that would be refunded if no lead paint was found. The person coming to measure the windows would do the test. mike came measured and left. NO TEST was preformed. Then I was told when the crew came and installed the windows they would do the test, in front of me so I could see the results. The day of installation arrives they are 45 minutes past the arrival window. Have no test with them, they leave and go to Home Depot, return eat lunch and start working. When I asked about the lead paint test they said there was lead paint. I requested to see the results. They couldn't show them to me because they were in the dumpster-trailer with the broken glass windows they had removed. Funny thing though they were not wearing any kind of protective mask so they didn't inhale any of the lead particles, the only protective gear they were wearing were these disposable coveralls. Now the annoying part is we completely gutted the room these windows are in down to the studs about 5 years ago so I'm not sure how there could be any lead paint. I called Taylor left a message and no one returned my call. I then called again and left yet another message. To date no one has returned my call. I filed a BBB complaint and they have not answered that either. My next course of action will be to file a complaint with the Govenors Office of Consumer Affairs. As for their service for already installed products... also. On three separate occasions we have had the seal on the 2009 windows break. The first time there was no problem. The 2nd time I had to call the owners office to get results after having left messages for the service person. The service person claimed he had called and left messages. I work at home so that was a lie. Fast forward to this year. When they came out in July of 2018 someone was supposed to come out and get the information on the windows that needed replacing because of seal problems. That never happened. On the day of installation of the 4 new windows I finally got someone on the phone to take the info on the old windows. It took from July until October 25th for them to get out here. Was supposed to be 4-6 weeks. Funny when I called and complained about where my windows were....they had just come in the day before and they were going to call me to schedule an install date. BEWARE: If you think going to a car dealership is a nightmare, try having this nightmare unfold in the living room of your own home for FOUR hours! My fiancee made an appointment to get an estimate, the gentlemen comes out, walks around the house with his computer putting together a useless "video presentation" that only proves he knew how to use a computer, talked our ears off until ELEVEN O'CLOCK P.M. - seriously, there is nothing anyone is selling that needs that much time and gave us a list of people at like 9 p.m. to call and "prove" they do good work (why would I harass total strangers at 9:00 p.m. about services that we now don't even think we want?). My fiancee and I were beyond sleepy and I literally fell asleep at the table. All we got was a run around about the cost which was not divulged until four hours later despite us repeatedly asking to see if we could even afford it. Total harassment! We explained that we just bought a new luxury SUV and are planning a wedding and it is not in our budget, however we were HEAVILY encouraged (code: BADGERED) to sign all the paperwork so he didn't have to waist his time coming back out to do the paperwork- his exact words - however the more he talked the more upset and irritated we became with his shenanigans! The rep assured NO PAPERWORK would be processed until we approved it. Can you say LIARS???? A day or two later, my fiancee is inundated with phone calls, while he is trying to work, by FIVE different reps within a two hour period from their company and some "sister company - once we said it was not in our budget. Each time, he told them we DID NOT WANT want the service, but they just kept calling with all types of BS. However, the kicker was, we received a call from their finance department saying they were trying to process our paperwork, but some of the information was not matching up (uh, ya think!) Why are you processing paperwork when NO ONE GAVE YOU PERMISSION???? The rep totally lied and this type of behavior is not only misleading, but outright FRAUDULENT! The rep also called an elderly couple at a disrespectful hour to make them tell us how great the company is. I felt so sorry for them and can only imagine how many other elderly people were badgered and coerced into getting this product and probably were told that once they signed, they had to pay! These guys are a joke! I made an appointment for gutters only and they sent me a hard handed salesman for an entire guttergauard system. They called and asked for a second chance to bid the project with a partner of theirs, I went for it. When they arrived it so happened that another contractor was onsite providing a bid. Multiple bidding is a prudent exercise. They walked the job left and called me the next morning to schedule another site walk... What, you want to walk the job 3 times, are you serious? Then they suggested the bid could not be sent via email and they must meet with me personally to share the quote... What? They wasted my time and played games. Steer clear of f these guys, there up to no good. If I could give them less of a single star I would. Asked for this company to come give me a quote. They came out and after two hours of high pressure sales and asking if "my husband was the one to be talking to", I was never given a paper quote. I was shown a number briefly on an iPad, but never given the quote. The salesman kept making sexist remarks like "[he] knows women are more interested in replacing the pretty things, like windows and not the functional things like the gutters". I even had to tell him I was the sole owner of the property before he would explain the windows and gutter system to me without my husband in the room. In addition, when I asked for an email including the quote, the salesman promised one, but never sent it. I also had an equally horrible experience with their sister company "southern construction". I would never give this company my business, which apparently works out well for them since I still have never been given a quote! read more

I have a small rental cabin in Blue Ridge and made an appointment through Sam's Club to get an estimate to have my gutters replaced. We settled on Thursday, so I drove the two hours on Wednesday and talked to their scheduler guy on Weds afternoon. I said I would be there on Thursday and we confirmed the 10am appointment. He asked if my wife and I would be there, and I said "She works during the week, but I'll be here. See you at ten..." Gave him directions and whatnot, and hung up. Smash cut to Thursday morning at 11:30, and no sign of Taylor Construction, so I called. I am familiar with the idea that contractors do not believe in timepieces of any kind, so I gave them a bit of leeway. The lady who answered said they had canceled my appointment because my wife wasn't going to be there. If that's your bizarre policy, fine. It's your company. My wife cares as much about gutters as my cat cares about quantum physics, so her being here is 1000% relevance free, but whatever. What angers me is Taylor Construction wasting my time; if another insane policy is not telling customers that you have canceled their appointment and letting them stand around waiting for half a day when they could be doing something useful...well...might I suggest changing that policy slightly to something less likely to drive said customer away forever? In any case, I found a local company who saved the day by fitting me in to their schedule the same day I called. read more
