This place is going to be the best roadside stop you make. We came here on our drive to SC from Florida and it was so perfect. The staff is so sweet, you feel like you walked into their home. The portions are HUGE, so a good sharing option. We did two plates, one with BBQ chicken and green beans and Mac and cheese as the sides. Hands down best food in Waynesboro! Amazing meats, perfect veggies, tons of options, and all for rock bottom prices. I'd give 6 stars if I could. I have had a few of their meats and my favorites are the ribs and the porkchops. They really know how to handle pork. As for sides, any vegetable is a winning pick and the mac and cheese is a perfect pairing with any fried food. The service is fast and accurate and their system for running through the long lines works amazing. The restaurant is a bit dated but it Taylor's has been an institution for forever so that's a good sign. This is a perfect quick lunch spot or a quick family dinner spot. Seating is limited but tables rotate pretty quick. If you are wanting a place to sit and chit chat for an hour, I'd suggest taking the food to go. read more

This is my second time here. My first time was about 6 years ago and the portions of the food as well as the freshness was superb. This time however was very disappointing. The portion was smaller. The taste lacked. The chicken was dry. A fried pork chop should be seasoned or at least the flour. We had sweet tea that was super sweet which is a -/+ depending on your taste buds. I personally love a sweet tea. Mac and cheese was over cooked. Black eye peas and Lima beans were very watery and lacked seasoning. The only reason a 3 star was given was the CUSTOMER service. The staff were very friendly, very attentive. They greeted us when we came in, thanked us as we paid. It was a little disturbing to notice the separation of who worked the service line and who worked the cash register. We don't live in the 1900's. There was a picture in the dining room, in one of the pictures shown, very disturbing to see something clearly from the era of segregation. On our way to view the leaves in North Georgia, my husband and I stopped at this wonderful Barbecue place in Waynesboro for lunch. The parking was a bit tight, as the crowds at lunch were building to have their lunch, but once you were inside, there is ample seating. All of the food is prepared fresh throughout the day, and the words "we don't have any more" are not heard, just give us a few minutes and we will have it, which is very refreshing. Your food is prepared cafeteria style, and the choices of sides and meats and deserts do not disappoint. This is amazing home cooking! The fried catfish was delicious with outstanding collard greens and grits. My 2 sides and 2 very large pieces of catfish was only $10.99. My husband had the ribs and collards and Black Eyed Peas. These were yummy also. Total for this meal for both of us with drinks was under 30 dollars, and the quality of the food far exceeded that! When you are driving through Waynesboro, this is a bit off the beaten path, but believe me, you will not regret taking the road less traveled to experience this down home cooking! I visited for lunch right before the lunch rush. Everything was fresh. There were about 8 choices of protein, including fried pork chops, chicken and catfish. There were smoked sausages and beef stew. I had the pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy and collards. I was extremely pleased and would've given a 5 star if the chops weren't so heavily breaded and were seasoned a little more. After many years I still don't care for the customer service or the bbq pork options, I will regularly get a takeout plate from Taylor's. The dining room is still way too cramped and loud for me. However, I will admit when I'm wrong and I do now understand why locals love this place. I've loved Taylor's since a child growing up in Waynesboro, Ga. Growing up, we used to go for breakfast every now and then. I've checked in a few times and I always forget to write a review. Let's start with breakfast: They have your usual southern breakfast available, grits, eggs, fat back, bacon, pork sausage, beef sausage, fish, toast, biscuits, pancakes, and an assortment of other things. I normally get a breakfast tray with grits, bacon, eggs, and a biscuit and it runs about $6. Lunch: There's always a special, but I usually get the same thing. I order fried chicken, mac n cheese, candied yams, and a ho cake (cornbread pancake). The chicken is always seasoned all the way to the bone, the macaroni is sometimes hit or miss, but when they get it right, it is so good, makes your belly smile. The candied yams have just the right amount of sweetness. The plate runs you between $6-$8 depending on how many pieces of chicken you get. I recently tried their fried catfish and I normally hate catfish, but it tastes so fresh. It's best when they have just taken it out the grease. That plate is about $8.50 for 2 pieces of fish, 2 sides, and bread. The food is true down home southern cooking, the people that work there have been working there for years and I know many by name. I love this spot, they always have a big selection of meats and sides to choose from and it's always delicious. They have banana pudding and cake, too. You order from the line up front where you can see all the food and you pay at the register at the end of the line. Cornbread is always included! This week I got their barbecue chicken, potatoes and gravy, and macaroni, and it was yummy. The potatoes are instant but the macaroni is homestyle. Last few times we have been in, we have found the Fried Pork Chops thinner and less juicy. NOTE: The other location on(US-25 by the Air Plane, just isn't like Taylor's anymore. Most delicious fall-off-the-bone ribs we've had in years! Everything was tasty and seasoned to perfection. The corn cake was awesome and a nice twist to the normal hush puppies at other places. If the people at Michelin visited rural restaurants for some southern/soul food this place would easily have a couple stars. Literally everything here is good. Pulling up you'll see brand new luxury cars parked next to broken down rusted pick up trucks because the crowds of people that come through here are from everywhere.
