On our way to view the leaves in North Georgia, my husband and I stopped at this wonderful Barbecue place in Waynesboro for lunch. The parking was a bit tight, as the crowds at lunch were building to have their lunch, but once you were inside, there is ample seating. All of the food is prepared fresh throughout the day, and the words "we don't have any more" are not heard, just give us a few minutes and we will have it, which is very refreshing. Your food is prepared cafeteria style, and the choices of sides and meats and deserts do not disappoint. This is amazing home cooking! The fried catfish was delicious with outstanding collard greens and grits. My 2 sides and 2 very large pieces of catfish was only $10.99. My husband had the ribs and collards and Black Eyed Peas. These were yummy also. Total for this meal for both of us with drinks was under 30 dollars, and the quality of the food far exceeded that! When you are driving through Waynesboro, this is a bit off the beaten path, but believe me, you will not regret taking the road less traveled to experience this down home cooking! We can't wait to be in the area so we can have it again.

I visited for lunch right before the lunch rush. Everything was fresh. There were about 8 choices of protein, including fried pork chops, chicken and catfish. There were smoked sausages and beef stew. I had the pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy and collards. I was extremely pleased and would've given a 5 star if the chops weren't so heavily breaded and were seasoned a little more. Texas Pete and chow chow were on each table's condiment bins and we made it work! Will definitely return.

I've loved Taylor's since a child growing up in Waynesboro, Ga. Growing up, we used to go for breakfast every now and then. I've checked in a few times and I always forget to write a review. Let's start with breakfast: They have your usual southern breakfast available, grits, eggs, fat back, bacon, pork sausage, beef sausage, fish, toast, biscuits, pancakes, and an assortment of other things. I normally get a breakfast tray with grits, bacon, eggs, and a biscuit and it runs about $6. Lunch: There's always a special, but I usually get the same thing. I order fried chicken, mac n cheese, candied yams, and a ho cake (cornbread pancake). The chicken is always seasoned all the way to the bone, the macaroni is sometimes hit or miss, but when they get it right, it is so good, makes your belly smile. The candied yams have just the right amount of sweetness. The plate runs you between $6-$8 depending on how many pieces of chicken you get. I recently tried their fried catfish and I normally hate catfish, but it tastes so fresh. It's best when they have just taken it out the grease. That plate is about $8.50 for 2 pieces of fish, 2 sides, and bread. The food is true down home southern cooking, the people that work there have been working there for years and I know many by name. There's normally a line, but they move very quickly. If you're looking for food cooked with love m, take a short drive to Waynesboro for the experience.

I love this spot, they always have a big selection of meats and sides to choose from and it's always delicious. They have banana pudding and cake, too. You order from the line up front where you can see all the food and you pay at the register at the end of the line. Cornbread is always included! This week I got their barbecue chicken, potatoes and gravy, and macaroni, and it was yummy. The potatoes are instant but the macaroni is homestyle. I'm from Augusta so we used to drive to Waynesboro for barbecue. I'm happy to be working in the Waynesboro area this month so it's that much easier to get their food. Employees are wearing masks and masks are requested in the line. The spot gets busy at lunch so account for a short wait to get your food. :)

I'm picky about BBQ, as are most southerners, because everyone has the BBQ they grew up with to set…read morethe standard and that varies tremendously geographically! But South Carolina has the best BBQ of all the southern states when you can find the right stuff. BBQ Barn is the right stuff. They've got pulled pork with quality sauces, hash similar to what I make myself (therefore excellent), delicious southern sides, sweet (and unsweet) tea, various other meats (their burnt ends are yum!) and some desserts that look great but I haven't tried yet. They also aren't a buffet style restaurant which is a great thing in my opinion. They have a good amount of seating but I don't think they'll fit lots of large groups so keep that in mind. They do have a drive thru and you can order food to go. Unfortunately, they are also like other good BBQ places in their limited hours; they are only open Wednesday-Saturday each week so they can't be Sunday dinner or Monday emergency dinner unless you plan well ahead. The staff are nice and the restaurant is always clean enough. When we aren't making our own barbecue, we are probably getting barbecue from BBQ Barn (or the only other good bbq spot in the CSRA).

My first two visits were only 24 hours apart because it was so good. This time I experienced the same delicious food and quick service. I am impressed by the quality of the food (so fresh) and how kind everyone is here. I like to ask what they recommend, because the desserts change and the cashier was sweet and indulged my questions. I also can't speak highly enough if the sauces. I am a big fan of the spicy georgia red bbq sauce. The gold is also great, just a mustard flavor. I'm tempted to buy a bottle the next time I visit. My recommendation - Come visit on a warm day. Order a platter of food (2 meats will give you plenty of leftovers) and a slice of cake. Sit at the outside tables and enjoy. There are fans outside if it's too warm.

There was a line when we first arrived but the friendly staff moved everyone through very quickly. Fortunately for us there was a valentine special so we were able to get two steaks and two sides each for a great price. There is a large variety of sides to choose from - mac and cheese ( we'll talk about this again later), broccoli casserole, green beans, potato salad, cole slaw, broccoli salad, layered salad, sweet potato casserole and more. I chose the Mac and cheese and broccoli casserole. Ok - so the Mac and cheese. Oh. My. Goodness!!! This was worth the trip to Country Boy's alone. Some of the best I have ever had. Really. You know the kind I'm talking about with a thick layer of cheese on top AND more cheese throughout. Then there is the steak. Let me just say it was cooked perfectly and literally tasted just like a steak my dad would have grilled in the backyard over a charcoal fire. AMAZING! We truly enjoyed our visit to Country Boy's. Throughout the meal we learned it used to be owned by her parents, but she has taken over. Her mom still cooks some of the food, including the phenomenal mac and cheese. The owner was tremendously kind and helpful! We had never had Brunswick stew so she brought us each a sample, and im so glad she did, I ended up ordering a side because the flavor was so rich, without feeling heavy. Big fan! The prices were almost too cheap. For the quality, she could absolutely charge more even in this remote area. We were 5 adults, all ordered full meals and a drink, and it was less than $100 even with a 20% tip. I ordered the fantastic Brunswick stew, mom's mac and cheese (which, in the best way possible, makes you feel like you're heart may stop working at any moment but it's worth every bite), and the bbq sandwich. The sandwich was a hefty portion, I couldn't finish it all! Also ordered an unsweet tea, but tried the sweet tea too. Wow! They are not kidding on the sweetness level. If you're looking for some serious homestyle southern sweet tea, look no further. If youre not used to real sweet tea, I strongly suggest doing half and half. One of my dining partners ordered the oxtail! Wow wow wow! Please try this if you come in. So tender. It was perfect. The only reason I gave it 4 stars, and I really went back and forth between 4 and 5, because this didn't bother me too much, is just that the dining area looks run down. I wouldn't say it's not clean - we ate inside at 2 tables, and no one had any cleanliness complaints, it just looks like it could be not clean, based on the age and wear and tear. Not any reason, at all, to not visit. And if the sitting area bothers you, order it to go!
