I bought a new pickup last week. My loyal C.U. TDECU QUOTED ME 12.5%. i Financed at the dealer for 5.6 x 72 months $40,000 I also have a personal loan for $5,000 that is impossible to make payments on using their online banking. The only help they offer is to process it for me on the phone for an extra fee. Ive been in Finance management for years and Ive never seen such poor management of an institution this day and time. I have been banking here since a teen, and it's definitely one the worst banking intuitions that I have ever dealt with. I have dealt with nothing but issues since opening a joint account with my husband 3 years ago. When they upgraded to a new platform, it changed my name to a mix of my maiden and married name. It also started making random bill pay payments. When, I tried to get the random bill pay payments reversed, they wouldn't. I have been banking here since I was fourteen years old. I guess old habits are hard to break. Even though I live 3.5 hours away I have found a way to continue using TDECU. I have been patient with the slowness to adopt technology and the ability for the service reps to have a grasp on banking technology available. Their credit card offering are just a slow. With that said they are a conservative banking institution. They always follow the most strict security protocols so I guess that make the good at what they do...protecting my money and making sure I am the one accessing the accounts. Being that they started with local roots the credit union and grown to many branching where Dow does business in Texas it is great to know they still have a good neighbor field. You may have to speak to a supervisor to get help but they always understand and take care of the customer even for someone as difficult as I can be. Horrible. The amazing thing about all these bad reviews is that they keep getting worse, my loan from 2015 has been bewildering with all of the online security UPGRADES? , last month I spent 3 hours just trying to just pay my auto loan bill online, asking me security questions completely irrelevent to me, then shutting down the account so i have to call your lame customer service.THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO STAY AWAY FROM TDECU. I will be refinancing with another bank immediatly even if it costs.. And shame on you Ron Carter for using such a crappy credit union, will not purchase another vehicle from you ever. read more

Absolute worst bank I have ever used. All their people sound new and stutter like they have no idea what they are even talking about. Ordered a lost credit card from them that I was suppose to get within 7-10 business days. Never received it. After a month of waiting and calling back and forth, I was on the phone for a hour and 45 min reporting a lost card and paid to get it expedited and told I would receive it in three days, just to be told on the 3rd day that the order was not done correctly and my old card has not been sent out yet. So what the hell did we do for a hour and 45 min? Not the only issue I've had with them but this was the last straw. I will never bank with TDECU again I will be writing this review on every page I can find about them. read more

They are a joke. The only reason they even made it was because they were local to Dow Chemical in Freeport. They are so slow and behind in technology is rediculous. Their services are a joke, their %'s, etc. etc. So much wrong with this company. But, they can thank Dow back in the 80's and 90's for their success. When I first signed up with TDECU, they were amazing. They were very customer-focused, and not trigger happy with fees. Now, they're just as bad as the corporate banks. They take their sweet time processing electronic deposits, but they never miss a beat when there's an opportunity to charge you a fee. I'm definitely going to be looking for another bank. They've crossed over to the dark side, and there's no coming back from that. It's like when a dog has to be put down because he's had a taste of human flesh. I'm not a member of this bank, but only there this week ( 07-30-20) because I was selling a item. My buyer's bank at TDECU and with the experience we had I will never do business with this bank. We had a appointment one afternoon, this week and when we arrived the bank manager advised they could not see us. We were informed that it would be another two days before we could be seen, and when the buyers showed him the email confirming the appointment, he simply said " the people setting those appointments do not know what they are looking at, or doing". We arrived two days later only to find out they still had no paperwork completed and what was to be a simple 30 transaction turned into almost two hours. My buyer ( their customer) excused himself to the restroom and was told " you can't use our restroom". If they treat their own customers that way, as a person looking in I would find it to be very difficult to do any business with this corporation. Both the loan officer and business manager were not friendly, and they both made it very clear they were not happy processing the loan. The buyers repeatedly apologized to me over all the mishaps and I could tell they were very embarrassed over the whole ordeal. read more

I have been with TDECU a few years now. TDECU is not what I thought it would be. Last Monday I made a significantly large mobile deposit. Because it was large, I called tdecu the next day to make sure everything was clear. I was told everything was good but there'd be a 5 day hold. Which was no problem. However, this morning, funds were not available. I called tdecu only to be told; the deposit was rejected because I didn't write on the back, "for mobile deposit only". Never, have I had to do this. Even if this is the new policy, I would think it would have been communicated to me last Tuesday when I called. Also, I went into online help to see if indeed it had been revised and of course it wasn't. Now after waiting 7 days for nothing, I have to wait another 7 days after going to the closest branch 55 mins from my home to deposit the check. To the smart dummy I last spoke with on the phone. Worst credit union/ bank ever. They only have 2 facilities in my city and one of them doesn't have an ATM at the moment. When i drive the extra length to the other one to deposit money the ATM is out of service all the time. So then i am charged with the insufficient funds fee. I have a full time job and they close at 5pm Mon-Wed so I am out of luck if i need to deposit money on those days. I have tried to set up alerts for balance updates and am unable to receive any. Closed my account and moved elsewhere. Don't waste your time on this place. read more

I am a newly retired 65 year old female who bought a Travel trailer last year. I find instant through Texas Dow employ credit Union. I have been blessed to pay it off I year after purchasing. Paid off 9/9 2019. Title was mail to wrong address And now every time I call I get a different answer of with how I can get it. They constantly give me the run around and will not let me speak to anyone at the main office. I paid my trailer off I want my title. It is a shame that no one is trained well enough to give anyone the correct information will never do business with Dow again. read more

This credit union is horrible. We have moved and have tried twice to change our address on our credit card. First time they entered a '3' instead of a '6'. Second time it just didn't get changed. My husband tried for the THIRD time today and was told that they could not change the address. How stupid can a company be (or the employees working for them). Just tried to make a payment on an overdraft from savings. I am not disputing the overdraft. The letter i have in the mail has my account number on it. The phone operator at TDECU said i need a member number. WTF there is no member number on the letter i received. I have an account number and i have my bank card ready to pay it. I arrived at the TDECU located at 3800 Southwest Freeway at Timmons Lane, Houston, Texas 77027 on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 12:58 p.m. The drive thru sign still said "Open." I removed the carrier from the air tube and began filling out a deposit slip. I had was a cash deposit that had to be made that day because of an upcoming automatic payment. As I was filling out the deposit slip, the glass door on the air tube went down. I could no longer put the carrier back in the tube. I quickly finished the deposit slip and put my ID and card in the carrier with the deposit. I honked my horn a little bit and held the carrier out so that the teller could see it. There was no response. I continued to honk and wave the carrier outside of my car window for at least five minutes. I was getting more and more upset as time went by thinking about the overdraft that I could not afford. After several minutes, I was very upset, nearly in tears and it dawned in me that I was stuck with the carrier. They were not going to wait on me or allow me to return their carrier. I kept trying to get their attention so I could return the carrier, but I never got any response. I decided to take it with me and return it first thing Monday morning. I looked for a place to hide in my car as I didn't want anyone to see it and think I stole it. I could not find any place in the car where it would fit. I tried to put it on the shelf where the slips were kept, but it would not fit. So then I pulled forward again to the air tube and I heard a woman's irritated voice telling me in a snide manner that they were closed. Obviously the people inside had no idea what was going on in their drive thru nor did they care. By this time I was so angry I left the carrier on a narrow ledge in front of the air tube, and drove off with it teetering and about to fall. The TDECU employees and the security guard were so out of line that day! They had an obligation to wait on me. If they had done so in the first place, I probably would have been out of there by 1:00. Then when I started honking and waving the carrier, somebody should have checked on that. I did it long enough to where somebody inside should have known something was wrong. What if I had suffered a heart attack and was honking for help? What if I was being robbed? There is no window at this location's drive thru, no cameras, no security of any kind. TDECU could not care less about your safety. My account overdrew by the $170.27. I had two accounts, the checking account that overdrew and was subsequently closed, and the savings account with the minimum $5 in it that remained open. I tried to pay off the overdraft the following August at their Heights branch with a check but they refused to accept the check and told me I had to bring them cash. On May 17, 2018, I went back to that branch with cash to pay off the overdraft and reopen my checking account. I walked up to the teller with my wallet open in my hand, and was waited on by a young Hispanic woman. I gave her my bank card and ID and told her I was there to pay off an overdraft and reopen the account and I needed to know the exact amount due. She told me and I handed her the cash. Instead of giving me a receipt for the cash, I was rushed off to an office where the account was reopened and I was never given any receipt for the cash I gave them. After that, my paychecks were directly deposited into my new account. Everything was good until I went to the that same location on August 6, 2018 to withdraw money and was told by a black woman who waited on me that I still owed the $170.27. I told her I did not owe that money as I had paid it off in May to get the account reopened. She stole the money right out of my account and when I asked her if she was doing that, she refused to answer me. She never gave me a receipt either! I had to wait until I was home to confirm she stole the money out of my account. I closed both accounts since the people at TDECU are a bunch of crooks. I recently tried to open new account at Primeway Credit Union only to be told that they could not open the account because I still owed $170.27 to TDECU. As I sat in the Primeway office, the teller there called TDECU and it was determined over the phone that I did not owe TDECU any money. The person at the main TDECU office was supposed to email a letter to Primeway stating I did not owe the money, but they never did. Since Primeway never got the letter, they never gave sent me a debit card, so I ended up closing that account. And I am still not able to open an account anywhere else because of the thieves and liars at TDECU. I cannot even begin to tell you how much trouble this has caused me. My credit score has dropped 150 points. I have to pay bills in person and I've driven my car into the ground doing that. My daughter is homeless I would have liked to give her that money. TDECU is the worst ever! They are crooks and liars!! They don't deserve one star!!! read more

Let me just say karma found its way into my checking account. Reading some of these reviews in the past, I thought, "the people with bad reviews simply do not know how to manage a checking account". I am so sorry. I was so so WRONG! I have had a checking account, mortgage, multiple cars and signature loans with TDECU over the last 23 years. In February 2019, we had paid off everything except 1 signature loan with TDECU. We applied for a car loan 10/2019 for my daughter. The interest rate was ridiculous. Our credit score dropped because our oldest line of credit was now only months old. TDECU would not look at my credit history/report. They told me interest rates are based on score only. We used Chase. Fast forward to 8/2021. They held a payroll check for 5 days. A payroll check I have been depositing since 7/1999. YES July 1999. Same company. Same bank. They messed up my checking/savings account to the point I still can not figure out if I was compensated in full or not. Here we are again. 10/12/2021. Still waiting on my check to be released. A check that has already CLEARED Regions Bank. Their solution, cash my check at Regions bank, drive 20 miles away & deposit cash. YES TDECU! That's a brilliant idea, except I will NOT be driving to TDECU to deposit cash. If I am going to be treated like a new customer, I'll try out a new bank/credit union. Maybe they offer common sense &/or customer service. Apparently I am no longer the type of customer TDECU wants/needs. read more

I've had many loans in the past and this bank is the WORST ever to have a loan through! They are not very friendly over the phone, can't make more than one payment a month and when calling to PAY OFF your loan because you are tired of dealing with them, they make it impossible to do so! It's like they want you to stay miserable with them! My wife was a member before I joined TDECU. Over the past two years, the service, ability to do more online, and customer service has severely declined. In particular, this location has stolen and lost money from our deposits. One was made inside where they lost $100; somehow the teller dropped it. One was made through the line where $20.00 dissapeared. Also, when I opened my account the lady made me checks to my savings which caused me to have bounced checks. NO SAVINGS COMES WITH CHECKS. I wasn't familiar with my new checking account number to notice the discrepancy. They are rude and unprofessional at this location, VERY! Denise, the manager is very passive about allegations of theft and does present a since of urgency to take charge of matters. There are far better credit unions to join! Good luck! read more

Negative. If you want to deal with people that say I dont know or I'm sorry there's nothing we can do until Monday after 8am then this is the credit union for you. Ridiculous. I've had my card flagged after it was promised fixed with incompetent people working for this company. Not sure if this company has made a change in employer but they are terrible now. I've been banking with them for 10 years and the past 3 months I've seen a huge shift in horrible customer service. I would advise to go somewhere else where they educate their employees and " I dont know " is not a sufficient answer to their customers. Member care means, take care of your members, not call back cause we dont know. I will be canceling on Monday and taking my business elsewhere. Do not do business withTdecu. I am in the process of looking for a new bank or credit union with good customer service. I just got of the phone with a manger and trust me they are incompetent to run a business. I called on Tuesday over my insurance with them and spoke with Rita and she blamed all her issues on the computer, kept sighing, blowing all over the phone, tapping her pen and just complaining how she could not get anything to work for her. Did not ask questions just told me that she could not do anything for me. The same could be said about the "manager" Tracy. She said Rita did nothing really wrong and kept talking when I would try to talk. I can say that I used to work for banks and credit unions and I can tell you this about Tdecu they dont care about you and you are just a number. They always mess up in the drive thru. The tellers there are always eating and looking at pinterest to care about the line. When they came out with their new system they would not let me access my account online and put my money in someone else's account. The mangers for the bankers and tellers Whitney and Kenneth both do not seem to know what they are doing and I have personally seen them favor members over others. Their Pro's: a bit higher interest rates, and lower rates for some loans. Their Con's:Tdecu staff, so many mistakes, the new system, long lines, customer service, the forms, atm machines down, insurance dept is a joke, bad overall, paying loans is a pain with online banking, trying to pay mortgage payments and principal at the teller window. I would not recommend them, heck it is so sad to say but wells fargo is better than Tdecu. read more

If I could give this bank minus 5 stars I would. Their online payment system doesn't work. They charge you to make payments on your own loan if you call. When I send checks they call and tell me they never receive them and then after 30 days of holding them cash them. Having this car isn't worth doing business with this credit union. The worse credit union known to man! Ex husband was decreed to lay a loan, he has stopped and when I re-opened my TDECU account, on my first direct deposit, they blocked my debt card. They said if it was not resolved, they were taking my whole pay check to put it towards that loan I'm not even responsible to pay for. Hey had no remorse about house payments or cars or food for a single mother. They will not even let me close the account. They will not even let me close my 14year old's account since I opened it and doesn't even have the same member ID number. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR HARD WORKING MONEY!!!! They will keep it!!! Funny they don't tell you this when you go in to open the account. I am appalled they could legally keep my whole paycheck my kids and I live off of. read more

This is used to be a great financial institution, but I guess times have changed. My wife and have both been long time members, having 5 digit account numbers, my father-in-law has been with them since the late 50's. We are from the Angleton Lake Jackson area and they have always been refereed to as "The Credit Union". I have had nothing but horrible experience with them over the past few years. First, I had a credit card with them, I did really use it a whole lot and I had a balance on it just to keep my credit score up, so one day I got to log into my account to make the payment and the it is no longer on my account, I thought well maybe its just a glitch, so I wait a few days and try again still not there. So I call "Customer Care", that is when they informed me that since I did no use the card much they CUT IT OFF and now I have a balance with them that I will have to call to make a payment since they have removed it from my online account. What sort of thing is that to do to a customer, its just insane. So just the other day I try to log into my account which I have done a thousand times, (also I will mention I am in IT and have been for almost 25 years so technology is not challenge for me) each time i enter my password the mobile app tells me its wrong, so then I get on my laptop and try, three times and now I'm locked out GREAT! So I call "customer care" again, give the normal DOB, member number, mothers maiden name, they then tell me I need to answer a series of timed questions and to answer them to the best of my ability. They ask me the exact address of a house I lived in for 3 months like 10 years ago, how may years was I associated with a house I previously owned like 8 years ago, and a few other really odd questions and at the end the lady tells me that I failed and I have to go into the branch. HELLO COVID-19, what an absolute shit show TDECU has become. I will be moving my financial business elsewhere. read more

I have been with TDECU for a little more than 4 years and it has been a really difficult and awful experience up until now, but enough has been enough... I stuck it out with TDECU early on and supported them despite a lot of their shortcomings (extremely limited number of ATMs available, The entire process is antiquated, They still require you to call in recite your identification number / full name / last 4 social security / and mothers maiden name just to do a CHECKING TO SAVINGS TRANSFER, They require you to fax things because they can't accept email, There was no website/app until just last year and even now its very buggy and unsafe, None of the credit cards or debit cards have security chips, and there is a System Crash almost once a month and everyone loses access to their debit cards / credit cards for several hours or a few days). The final straw came when they kept seizing my funds for "suspicious activity" even though I've explicitly called in ahead of time - many times - that I do business in a remote state. So I call in to explain the charge, they told me that the hold had been lifted the hold, and guess what happens? It gets declined again. This happens again for another 3 or 4 phone calls where they Promised me that my hold had been lifted. The worst part? You have to call an entirely Different number to release suspicious hold charges and the number outsources to India! Awful, just awful. I'm still in the process of transferring all my funds to a different account (and guess what? They are holding most of my funds because apparently transferring money to open up a new account triggers an irrevocable fraudulent hold...) I'm completely done with these guys - I am tired of trying to give them my business, they just make it too hard to spend your own damn money! I would recommend CHASE BANK or WELLS FARGO. Please take it from a veteran who has been with this company for many years and tried dealing with them, there is just no reason to have money in this bank. read more

So I have been banking with them since I was sixteen. I banked with them in California when I moved there. They seem to be dropping the ball the bigger they get. If you can't keep up then don't increase the size till you are capable of keeping up with the demand. So they cashed one of my checks from work with proper clearance time of two weeks. I then tried to use my card three days later and it was declined. I had to call to see what was happening. They didn't even have the courtesy to call and inform me that my account was on hold. They cleared the funds two week ago But now three days later you are asking for the money back um are you not suppose to clear the check before you release funds. Are you not a banking institution. Never again so now I bank with Wells Fargo. Advice be careful if you cash a check there give them about a month before you can touch that money not worth it if you have bills to pay. read more

TDECU still has great loan products but their member services are P*SS POOR!!!!! They never sent my my debit card nor member number then they made me drive to the other side of the city to get these things just because I wanted to know the balance left on my auto loan. Even tho I can verify all of the other information associated with my account they would not give me the balance without the stupid member number. Now I'm trying to get access back to my online banking and I'm being interrogated like I don't know how to use a computer and I'm asked a million questions even tho I now have the damn member number....frustrating! read more

Honda in Galveston uses this credit union for auto loans. Do not sign a loan involving this company. This credit union has the worst customer service I have every experienced. They changed their system, and in doing so changed my account number, which caused them to reject a payment that I made. I found this out when my bank sent me an email stating the payment had been rejected. When they asked for proof the payment had been rejected, I forwarded them the email sent to me by my bank. This apparently was no good enough documentation, and they could not guarantee I would not receive a late fee. read more
