While inspecting the excessive noise from the furnace they installed, their technician discovered that their installers had left a melted screwdriver (see attached photo) inside the unit during the original installation. The tech that came out to fix my furnace - again because it was making a loud noise - simply put a long green metal pole jammed up against the chimney to dampen the noise(see attached photo). That was his solution ha. Then they paired the new AC with an undersized return, so it can't move enough air. The evaporator freezes with any normal air filter, and the only way to keep it running is by using the cheapest, least restrictive filter possible thus compromising air quality. And then in that same newly installed AC system the foil-faced insulation inside the air handler came unglued and detached, falling against the evaporator coil and restricting airflow. Absolute F tier quality work. Surprised they're still in business. They're impossible to get ahold of; techs that do show up are overworked and don't give a crap. All of these problems still exist to this day and everything is still under warranty but tired of them coming to my house and half fixing the problem only to call them again and again. All in this cost me about $12,000. Avoid at all costs. Good luck. read more

Called TDH several years ago to replace my AC unit. Price seemed reasonable and Tim was very helpful when talking to him about the process. They replaced my AC unit and reworked some of the ductwork as well. Their technician left and I noticed that the air coming out of the vents in the house was not cool. I called them immediately and the technician came back and recharged the new unit. It still was not blowing cold air but they said it should get better. It's been years now and the unit still does not blow cold air. I've called them every year to come out and no one ever seems to be able to fix it. I've changed fans, insulation etc. at their direction and still does not work properly. I've tried contacting Tim over the years and he never calls back. For me this was a complete waste of over $6k since I have no choice but to now purchase a new unit since they have never fixed it! I know others have had a good experience with this company but for me it has been a nightmare. If everything goes fine you're good, if not, they are not going to make it right so buyer beware. read more

For years our commercial HVAC units have been broken, and TDH has been more than patient with us, on-site visits to help rectify what they could on a weekly basis until we were able to make the move and replace both roof units. Galacio, Ronaldo, Bernie, Emily, Jackie, and of course Tim are a pleasure to work with. When it came to for the big install, not only were the logistics handled incredibly fast but TDH accommodated a difficult request from our neighbors to start the on-site work prior to 6am on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend. The service, price, and professionalism was excellent. I purchased HVAC, humidifier attached to the furnace and Ecobee thermostat, July, 2023. Called on Monday for quote and installation, and was scheduled for installation two days later. All installed in one day. They removed/ installed everything. They arrived @ 7:30a and finished @ 5:30p. Showed me how everything worked, and the company called me the next day to follow up on the service. Love that. Wonderful business! My heat went out on December 23. A commercial chain on the radio came in and said I needed a new furnace and quoted me 8,000$. In a sheer panic I called TDH. I spoke to Tim who calmed my panic, provided a quote through pictures, explained the different options available. He told me this installers would be there at 7 am and at 6:58 they were there! They installed the furnace, hauled away the old furnace, and made sure the new furnace was , made sure working perfectly. All this on Christmas Eve. The cost? Less then 5k! My grandmother used this company for both her AC and Furnace installation. Both have not worked properly since she's had them. After many Maintenence check ups, this company said that everything was fine. However, neither the AC nor Heat functioned properly. Finally we had another company come inspect both and they said that the AC and Furnace were not installed properly. This has created a lot of damage and very expensive repairs. My grandmother has called this company MULTIPLE times and sent many messages and no one has responded to her. This company should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of an elderly woman. Have the decency to return her phone calls at the very least. We have over 90 photos of proof of the improper installation. read more

I had my AC serviced today. Fortunately, everything was covered under warranty. It took over 24 hours to get a call back from the company and my husband was given a window time from 7AM to 11AM for the technician's arrival. I tried calling when he still wasn't there by 10:30 AM as I had to go to work. I couldn't reach anyone. You always get a message saying they are "away from their desk." When the technician arrived at 10:55 AM I asked about the window of time given and was told "we don't do service calls at 7AM." I would have appreciated knowing that as it's my late night at work. I also would have appreciated a text or phone call with and ETA. Overall, the repair went smoothly and was covered, but I gave the company 3 stars due to communication concerns. read more

I just had an AC/Furnace combo installed a few days ago and the entire experience was great. I am really happy with my new Trane products. I am still trying to get used to the smart thermostat they installed and woke up the other morning with 58 degrees and freezing in my house : ) I didn't have any problems with my previous units however they were very old and trying to be proactive and replace them before I did have a problem. I didn't realize how inadequate both were functioning until I got the new units. read more

In January 20 year old heater stopped working. Called TDH who sent someone to look and do a quote. They gave clear quote for a new forced air heater and AC at same time (which was also 20 years old). They got a crew in within a day or two to do the work. All as planned, and I did some research in the mean time to see the price was right in line. Heater works well since then. read more

Very thankful for efficient, friendly service. Ken came to clean our air conditioner and found it to be in good condition. About a week or so later it stopped working. We called TDH and they sent a repairman the next day to check it out. Turns out we had trouble with our furnace (not at all related to the service we had a week prior). If you want your time wasted, inept communication, and for the owner to get very personal and call you a name, then this is your place. Nothing but confusing information all around. I first couldn't even get a hold of them by phone. I kept leaving voicemails and eventually they were not returned. So I turned to email and started to get somewhere. I was offered an initial day, then it was revoked by the owner because being X (insert negative adjective) does not get you an appointment sooner. Ultimately I was going to take it, but told him I was not available during that time, which he just repeated what he initially said "Thursday 8-2". I began to wonder if this was a joke.... I was asking questions about the cost of the service because my AC is under warranty (previous owner's choice--not mine), but could not get a straight answer. This is just business. My furnace died a week after buying my condo (on a Saturday night in the winter). After having a different company come and give me very high quotes for repairs & a new furnace, that would also take days to schedule, I found TDH. I spoke with Tim who was able to give me a much more reasonable quote and schedule service for 7:30 the very next morning. The two technicians who came out were also really friendly, courteous and helpful. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit and called TDH. They came out quickly and said it was a clearing of the lines and a filter change. Charged me $200. However problem still persisted and when asking for a quote to replace the whole thing, I tried to track the quote.down for nearly two weeks but to no avail. Kept getting empty promises that they were waiting on the supplier or I would get it within a day. I wouldn't recommend you go with them. read more

Techs were on time, install duration was within the specified time period. Some clean-up was missed after opening brick to create a pass-through for the water heater power vent but was quickly addressed when pointed out. Overall their step-by-step methodology and technician skill-sets were exceptional. 3. GAS WATER HEATER - works great with plenty of hot water at all times. Product is Pheem 75 gallon with power venting 4. GAS BOILER - has been a source of frustration due to an intermittent issue where it doesn't fire. Product is a Dunkirk PSB-8 5. CUSTOMER SUPPORT - Meets expectations. Once you sign a contract, TDH will email your user ID and link to their Service Portal for use when requesting service appointments. Luv it! IN SUMMARY - I am pleased with the overall TDH experience and look forward to successful troubleshooting and resolution of the intermittent Boiler issue (ie.. low water cutoff probe, wiring, piping or other). Contacted three firms in the Chicagoland area about replacing a noisy furnace on our second floor. Tim from TDH responded nearly instantly and had a rep out the next day to make recommendations. TDH's pricing was competitive with the other two bids we received and their thoughts on additional ways we could lower noise levels were appreciated. On the install day, the crew was efficient and amicable. The work performed was as described and on budget. After the install, we found that our system needed an additional relay installed between the humidifier unit and our thermostat. TDH offered to come out and install the necessary relay at no additional charge. We're enjoying the much more quiet furnace and feel confident in TDH's work and customer support in the future. read more

I called TDH today (Sat 2/15) to fix the furnace which was blowing cold air. They were responsive and professional and we came out in a couple of hours. They charged $95 to come out. They replaced a sensor and charged me an extra $195 for parts. The only issue is that sensor cost $25!?! I called them on it and gave them a chance to apologize and not price gouge. Their response: it's the same $25 sensor but ours has a 1yr warranty....Gimme a break!?! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! TDH just lost any future business and sure will NOT recommend them to anyone. read more

This last time the technician was, however, 35mins late to my 4 hour window. No apology of any kind was given, just stated previous jobs as reason for being late. Would have loved some sort of compensation for them being late since it then threw off the rest of my day. $125 just for them to come out to 'diagnose' the issue (none of that is then applied to any services rendered). $145 "labor" charged to recharge my refrigerant in AC unit. $65/ lb of coolant added. read more

I shopped around a year before buying and TDH would went through each competitor quote with me and worked to get close to price and quality. Their technicians were nice and went through proper maintenance. This was my first experience buying a HVAC system for my house. Kristin the office was friendly and prompt via email and when it came time to purchase, the owner Tim called me and went through everything. They came two days later with a big crew that was friendly and quick. They make sure you register your products online and keep up on how to keep your system running. TDH was one the few companies that was straight to the point with what was wrong with the old equipment and what would be best for the house. I looked at Costco, Home Depot, ARS...etc....TDH was by far the best less hassle experience. There were cheaper prices out there, but not by much and not with the reviews and support I felt I received with TDH. I had a Trane Furnance and Air Conditioner installed yesterday and the experience went off without a hitch from start to finish. Everything was perfect. Rolando and Jose A. were professional and detailed. Because my previous furnance was 47 years old and was in a tight closet I think they had to deal with an extra challenge but they handled everything beautifully. They even had to create something out of sheet metal and it turned out great. They worked so hard but never a word of complaint. I can't think of one suggestion. Then this morning I called to register the serial numbers and the young lady I spoke with couldn't have been more helpful. Whoever is in charge of hiring your personnel is doing an excellent job. I am recommending TDH Mechanical to anyone who requires new HVAC equipment or to anyone who requires repair of existing equipment. TDH installed a new furnace and new AC system in my four story townhome last summer. The owner, Tim, did not play games with pricing (I had four other bids as well) and he educated me on the equipment selection. The price for equipment and installation was fair and the service team was professional and TDH did the job right. Well, almost a year later, I had a minor issue that needed to be resolved. My system needed a fast-stat, to allow for a deficiency with a Nest thermostat, as I also had a humidifier and we were one wire short. Louis, a TDH team member, came out today and installed the fast-stat, after he walked me through the different options, and we agreed on which was best for my circumstances. Louis was great - fast, professional and willing to answer all my questions. Great job by TDH from start to finish. Thanks so much for the outstanding customer service. I couldn't have been more satisfied with TDH. Ken came out and diagnosed the problem I was having with my 20yr old furnace, despite it being shoehorned into a small enclosed closet half way up my wall. I was given multiple repair and replacement options in the quote. I ended up doing a full replacement as I was tired of dumping $$ into this 20yr old system. The installers clocked in at 7am (on time!!!) and didn't leave till almost 9pm, they wouldn't leave until the job was done. (in my building this is how long it takes to replace everything, we are all starting to replace our old HVAC systems). All Covid protocols were followed, they cleaned up after themselves, I could not have asked for better service. The communication was stellar. Ken showed up on time to diagnose the problem, had the quotes with options within a few hours, and scheduled that night. I had a call the day before the install just to confirm that the new system is in stock and ready to go and to confirm the 7am start time. I had some additional questions and Jim was my goto for an issues that came up or questions I had. A+ read more

Ok. I'm going to be fair and say that Ken accurately diagnosed and fixed my problem with my furnace. My concern is that I feel I was overcharged. I was charged $190 for 15 minutes of labor. That doesn't seem fair. When Ken came out and diagnosed the problem and told me the cost of the labor I thought it was pricey but I figured that it would be an hour or more job. To my surprise it took him about 15 minutes to finish the labor. When I was about to pay I asked him how much they charge per hour and he never really answered that question but just stated that the 190 was for them retrieving the parts as well as the service (FYI the parts were under warranty so they were free). I still think this is a bit pricey. While the service was sufficient ( heat is back pumping), I would not use this company again because I feel that I have been gouged. Other companies I have used in the past pro-rated the amount if it wasn't the full hour of labor and this wasn't even half an hour. And honestly even if the labor was a full hour I still think 190 is a bit pricey. Amendment: Today I spoke with the owner, Tim. He took his time and explained to me that Ken had to drive an hour each way to retrieve the part from one of the only vendors who had the part in the city. With that being saiid the cost makes much more sense and I am a bit more understanding about the price point. Heat is working great as well. read more

Put out a call to multiple HVAC companies to look at a broken heater during the Chicago winter. Tim responded quickly and had someone come out to take a look. They charged $85 to come out. We asked if this fee would be applied to the actual repair if we used them. They said no, the repair is separate. In my 10+ years of owning a home, I have never seen a policy like this. The estimate was $800 for a new inducer motor and work. (I checked the model number online and the most expensive unit was $250.) We decided to get another estimate from a highly reputable company which came in at $500. When we told them the other estimate was $300 cheaper they offered $5 discount. Unsure of why their estimate is so high and why they would not apply a service charge to the repair but I was not impressed with this company due to these reasons.
