I hired Deljo to replace an ejector pump in my basement utility room in mid-February. Unfortunately, less than a month later my basement flooded because the ejector pump stopped working. Deljo blamed the pump manufacturer, but I can't be sure it was ever installed properly in the first place since I'm not a plumber. I also relied on Deljo to source equipment that worked properly. Either way, the flooding caused over $10k in damage, of which Deljo offered to cover $1k. So no, I did not have a good experience with this company. Even now, I nervously double check to make sure the pump is working properly when it rains because I don't trust Deljo's work. We were long time customers with this company. This past maintenance check the technician didn't leave any receipts, didn't sign the sheet of inspection and left the furnace door hanging on one screw. They changed $200 for the visit only to tell us that furnace was working . They said motor wheel needs cleaning and it's $450 extra. I found another company that does inspection it all for $89. And that INCLUDES cleaning blower wheel. Never using Deljo rip off company again . Check my other reviews if you want to see who I recommend Edited: I observed the process of Blower wheel cleaning: it took the technician from a different company about 30 minutes to remove it, take it outside and he used compressed air to clean . It's nowhere near 2-3 he job if you have an experienced guy. I haven't written a review in years, but I want to shout out Izzy from Deljo for coming to the rescue this weekend. Our furnace wasn't working, and the company that installed it was unable to fix it over the course of two visits. So I decided to call Deljo, who had done our AC installation a few years earlier. Izzy showed up on time (within a few hours of our call), was totally professional, and fixed it. They are super expensive. Charged $285 to clean. Not replace the flame sensor. And that's after they waived the $109 service charge. Look somewhere more reasonable The technician did absolutely nothing but take a few pics. Sat in front of my condo almost and hour after he was finished ( very weird). I did some research afterwards. Average cost to clean a flame sensor is $50-100. Also in the pic it Show my sensor laying in his had. You're not supposed to touch the metal part. You can try and justify this but your company is a total rip off. Find any other company but this one and save yourself a lot of money. read more

One of my heat vents was making a squeaking noise, and the Deljo rep recommended a full cleaning of the blower wheel for nearly $600. After this was complete, the noise was even louder than before and the tech claimed it's like an issue with the air duct, which Deljo does not do any diagnostics on. Way overcharged for blower wheel cleaning and did not fix the underlying problem. Then tried to sell me on two additional $2.5K repairs I did not need before leaving (and still never fixed the original issue... laughable!) read more

Our experiences with Deljo are always outstanding! After years of getting HVAC equipment replaced and then serviced yearly, we were thrilled when they added plumbing to the services they offer. This service visit involved dealing with a problem toilet: they assessed the issues and offered two options, explaining clearly the differences between them. Because of past experiences, I never worry that they are trying to upsell us. Since the plumbers were already here, I asked them also to look at a faucet in the powder room because no water was coming out. When I had shown this to a contractor working on our house he had said the only way to fix it was to open the wall and get to the pipes. But the Deljo plumbers immediately figured out what was wrong and fixed it without doing any damage to the wall. As always, the Deljo technicians were professional. warm and friendly. My complete confidence in Deljo is such that I have felt very comfortable recommending the company to other people! read more

Not only these guys are really expensive but they do take advantage of you. I bought a funarce 6 years ago, a Carrier one (will never buy that brand again) and already i was told yesterday that there is a small crack in the heat exchanger. I called Deljo and they told me that yes the part is under warranty but that the labor will cost around $3600. WHAT??????? I CAN BUY A FURNACE FOR THAT PRICE. Will never ever use this company again. I was not happy with the service man, Jim Carney. He seemed to be belittling me by trying to talk me into getting a furnace as well as a new A/C. I told him no, that I couldn't afford it at this time. Then, he suggested I leave the fan on the A/C going to fan the house. I responded that would raise my electric bill. Then, he smugly responded, "It's all about the money with you!" Yes, it IS about the money. I said back, "where do you think I'm going to get that money? Blow it out of asshole???" How dare he. I had a brand new hvac installed last year and has needed Freon twice since it was installed. They obviously have a leak somewhere and now want to charge me $1,600 for the diagnostic testing, $109 for the service call and another $700 for Freon. I spent $6,000 on the unit when it was installed!! This is ridiculous they want to scam me when it's under warranty but 'this and that is not covered' I would stay away!! read more

I was disappointed. Very nice service tech immediately tried to upsell me when I just needed a furnace check. When done, he had not checked the humidifier and I had to ask him to do so. Then, when the bill came, he was somehow unaware of the coupon on the website and had to call his boss to verify. The worst: less than six weeks after this check, my furnace failed. I called Besco Air and they were terrific. They saw multiple corrosion issues and installed a new furnace efficiently and quickly. I cannot recommend Deljo. read more

I have a Peerless hotwater boiler. During the summer, i requested a tech to inspect and diagnosis the issue experienced last winter. The recommendation was to replace the thermostat. The person was very nice and and recommended I do it myslef for $25.oo They would charge me $500.00 However$100 for the advice. The problem persisted, I called them back. After an hour of poking around, the tech indicated I have a bad module-$950.00 or a bad valve$1500.00 They dont know which, so make a choice. But I can get a discount if i become a member.... ( the valve is $250.00 from peerless. so 1250 an hour for labor?) In addition, another $100.00 I spoke with Peerless. They indicated It is most likely the ignitor. Clean it with a piece of sandpaper. I bought an air conditioning system 36 months ago from Deljo. The salesman told me that the Bosch AC unit would be compatible with my multi-zone controller that I had already in my house. That was not correct. The computer and the Bosch air conditioning unit conflicted with the processor and the multi-zone controller does not work. Last week I couldn't get the temperature below 77°, even though it was set for 70. I've come out for a service call multiple times and finally this week they said the only thing to do would be to replace that unit which I was sold and replace it with a $7,000 unit that would work with my zone controller. I can't afford that I put in window air conditioning units. read more

Had a new Carrier ac and furnace installed (by Greg) in the condo a year before I moved in (2020). Less than a year after moving in, I've had to spend over $7k in repairs. The wiring wasn't up to code, the dehumidifier was leaking moisture into the machinery, the microchips were mildewed, the air intake was crammed into half the needed space and the thermostat wasn't properly connected. I've had more than one repairman come and fix their mistakes, and they couldn't believe how sloppy and unconsidered the installation was. I highly recommend Deljo for any plumbing or HVAC needs! They not only replaced our furnace a few months ago but fixed a ventilation issue with the furnace closet and installed the new smart thermostat. Their quote was very reasonable and I was very pleased with the service they provided. Recently they reached out offering a plumbing inspection and it just so happened we had a toilet on the fritz. They were able to fit us in promptly and came out to fix everything within a few days. The technician seemed happy to answer my 10,000 questions and explained everything to me very politely and thoroughly. I've been a Deljo client for years and everyone I've come into contact with, whether on the phone or in person for my seasonal tuneups, has always been very friendly, courteous, communicative, and knowledgeable. I recently decided to do a complete replacement of my ~16 year old HVAC system. It was definitely showing some wear and tear, and the AC's efficiency and effectiveness was declining steadily. But more than anything I wanted to reduce the noise as my mechanicals closet is right between my living and dining room (that's what you get when you convert an early 1900s brownstone to condos with central air). Deljo sent out a sales consultant pretty quickly ('natch) and after doing an inspection he laid out some general options and then sent me a detailed proposal with three options (high-end, medium, budget). Given my penchant for nice things I opted for the high-end option, which would also be the quietest. Three weeks later a Deljo crew arrived bright and early and by 5pm everything was set up and running smoothly, including my new ecobee smart thermostat. I barely noticed them as they tore out the old system and installed the new one, and they left my place spotless. The noise level has been significantly decreased and I'm enjoying the AC in humid August. Looking forward to being warm and toasty with my new furnace when the weather turns! Oh, and Deljo sent me a nice box of cookies this week! read more

This place is within blocks of my house . I called when my heater suddenly went out. I give them 5 stars for being super fast to respond through Yelp, within 5 minutes. They were very courteous as well and offered to come out same day . I give one star for pricing. They were HUNDREDS more expensive then almost every other quote and I received about 6. To replace thermostat with basic model, they wanted over five hundred dollars. This model is $28.99 at Home Depot and it took another company 10 minutes to install plus another 10 to check system. read more

Del-no! Long story short, they misdiagnosed the problem & dealing with them was irregular and full of explanation after explanation. Deljo completely missed that a 240 volt wire had bared due to an unbalanced motor rubbing off insulation which then shorted to the blower housing. Deljo said it was the relay board gone bad. The detail: First, tried their "online scheduling" which I think goes to nowhere. Then, called them up days later and made an estimate appointment. Was quoted $109 for the estimate. They arrived very late in the already wide time window. When they were done, the techs demanded $189 in payment (nearly 75% more than the quote) without an invoice on the spot, which made me quite uncomfortable in my home. I wasn't comfortable turning over a credit card to 2 guys standing in my home without any sort of invoice. Gave them a check and they left, saying they'd call back with estimate for the repair. No call back for nearly 2 weeks. I called them and they eventually called back with an extremely high estimate with no breakdown of parts or labor cost, being more than a little pushy about getting going with the very expensive repair. When I asked for a breakdown of parts and labor, the price they quoted for the simple part was about 4X what I found after a simple online search, and they went into a very long explanation of why the labor costs were so high (along the lines of we have to pay for this, we have to pay for that, all of which sounded to me like they're running with way too high overhead which they try to pass on to their customers). When I backed into their labor costs, they were charging nearly $400/hour, depending. Told them no way and moved on. I called another company who sent a good tech out and properly diagnosed the situation. Hope this review helps you in your search in finding a good hvac contractor. read more

I have been a gold member for the last 6 years and today I ended that contract. Here's why... Example 1: Need a new gas value on hot water heater Deljo: $948 other company $550. Example 2: Replacement of Hot water heater Deljo: $4,678 other company $2,500. Example 3: Replacement of AC/Furnace/Hot water heater Deljo: $12,500 other company $7,200. Yes, they have good service & technicians are educated but at what point is the up charge worth it? Especially with the short lifespan of product these days. read more

We had Deljo come out when our AC stopped working. They are out of this world expensive. While yes my husband agreed to the quote - $1,606 for replacing the dual capacitor and blower motor capacitor as well as using our hose to hose off the blower wheel - we were left feeling exceptionally ripped off. When I found out about this pricing, I complained. This was for a nearly 20 year old, 2.5 ton AC for a small house. They did end up taking $160 off. But $1,445 is still insane pricing when the capacitors themselves don't cost more than $250 each (the highest end). They act like they are the only competent HVAC contractors in the area. If you have money to burn, then go for it. But if you don't want to get ripped off you're much better off finding another company. read more

I needed someone to provide a quote on a supplemental air conditioning system for our house. The company was responsive in setting up an appointment and sending a rep the following week. The rep was polite and knowledgeable. We spent an hour reviewing our current system. He outlined the proposal before he left and said he could send a quote in just a few days. One week passed and I texted him. Then another week and I emailed. Then I called the company. They told me I'd have to call the rep. Tech tells me cleaning my unit was going to stop my furnace from shutting down. Quoted me $2,200. Blown away by the price but below zero temps so they take advantage knowing there's no choice. I asked if 100% sure that would fix my issue as I do not want to pay all that for nothing. I was told YES. after the cleaning I am told "well looks like the issue might be something else"!!! Tech tells me he will call his boss to see if he can reduce the cost since he was wrong. Of course his greedy boss doesn't back up what his own tech guaranteed and says no. Here am below zero temps, $2,200 down the drain and freezing with kids in the house. It's disgusting how these clowns just steal by lying. Their justification was "well your unit was going to need the cleaning eventually anyway". I NEED HEAT NOW NOT WORRIED ABOUT EVENTUALLY!! Update. New HVAC company fixed my furnace today within 30 min. All I needed was a $90 dampener. My unit is working perfect now. Service I received yesterday was not needed and what I was told was untrue. my heat exchanger wasn't fully cleaned yesterday even though 1150 of the 2200 I paid was for that. I had it checked. The written recommendation to have my unit replaced I was told is ridiculous. My unit was built in 2018. All excuses given to me by Deljo were after they charged me 2200. Deljo installed a replacement high velocity air conditioning system in our older home. The work completed did not meet the terms of the contract, which included re-insulation of exterior lines to our compressor. The installation crew reinsulated less than a foot of our line. The crew also did not tune the fan speed. They did not read the pressure from any of the high velocity outlets. In some rooms, the unit sounds like a jet engine. The crew instructed us to contact sales for follow up. The salesperson has been unresponsive to email. read more

This is the second time I've recently called Deljo and it will be my last. My most recent experience made it clear that their main interest is to sell unnecessary equipment and services at the cost of thousands of dollars, as opposed to providing real solutions or investigating root causes. I scheduled a call for regular maintenance on two gas furnaces. One of my furnaces had two clear issues. When I asked the onsite tech how what he was selling me (a membership to an annual maintenance plan, external water sensors and routine cleanings of the A-coils and blowers) would help the issues he pointed out (clicking noise coming from the inducer motor and an overheating/airflow error code), he said he didn't know that they would. He never even proposed a solution for investigating the clicking noise and cleaning out the debris in the inducer, which was making a loud noise that he himself was able to reproduce! How do I know all these fancy terms and specifics? I joined a HVAC FB group and the professionals there were more helpful than Deljo. They were able to identify the issues over a video and provide possible causes and solutions (for free!) that fixed both problems. The only reason I'm giving Deljo one star instead of zero is because the technician, who was young and looked like he was just starting out, was respectful and courteous. He was actively communicating with his "boss" via telephone throughout all of this so, at the end of the day, his service and solutions were vetted. I was really hoping that Deljo would continue the great service provided by American Heating and Cooling, which Deljo purchased during the pandemic, but it's time to find a new HVAC provider. read more

This review pertains to work done several years ago, but the experience still irks me. I have since switched to a different HVAC vendor. First Appointment: Technician #1 came to my home to evaluate an AC problem, said the refrigerant was low and told me to schedule another appointment. Second Appointment: Technician #2 insisted the problem was not the refrigerant and upsold me ductwork cleaning for $795. This did not fix the AC problem. Third Appointment: Technician #3 informed me that Technician #2 "misdiagnosed" the problem and supposedly was being "reprimanded." I recommend DELJO because my boiler was not working on the coldest of winter nights and they actually responded to my emergency call right away. Let's face it, a night without heat with -20 windchills...I do not want to even think of what it can do to the pipes in the house besides ME. I called 9 places prior to them and no response. I was so happy that David C called me in about 15 minutes and would come, of course, for an emergency service call fee.
