We had My Guy HVAC come out to do a diagnostic on our furnace/heater as it's been making a loud noise on startup. Scheduling was a breeze with them. I sent them a note via their Contact Form and they were very speedy in replying back. We communicated over texts and I got confirmations along the way. Our tech, Alex, was very prompt and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions with clear answers. Turns out we needed a part replaced and could use a tune-up. My Guy not only sought out a cheaper option for the part, they were able to come out the next day to repair the part, which is great since we're in the middle of a brutal cold streak. Been using My Guy for years for AC repair. This year when my old 19year old Frigidaire was malfunctioning more than was worth going on, I got a few estimates for a new AC unit. I live in a 4 story condo, with the unit having to be lifted by a crane onto the roof. My Guy's proposal was the best put together and value and their office was the most responsive and on top of what needed to be done as far as getting the COI, paperwork etc to my Condo management company. They were able to schedule my install quickly, within 8 days of my initial call. The new exterior unit and evaporator was installed on my furnase went smoothly, and the crew was great and clean. My air conditioning unit crapped out in June. I googled for a HVAC company and the first company that showed up did a horrible job. (Four Seasons). The tech didn't even open up the unit and run a diagnostic; he just quoted me for a new unit at $7k and said nothing could fix it. My Guys came out for a second opinion, ran a proper diagnostic, figured out it was a quick fix for about $500, and did the job in one visit. They recognized my unit was getting older and gave me 3 quotes for different models (low end-higher end) so I could start thinking about budgeting for it in the next few years. Excellent Service! I called My Guy HVAC after my mother had Guardian HVAC inspect her furnace and reported that there was a crack in the heat exchanger. he said the furnace was old and should be replaced. he shut down the furnace and said it was hazardous for him to turn it back on and because of liability he couldn't. after talking to the rep, he quoted me prices between 11,000 and 17,000 for a new furnace. A heat exchanger was 3-4 k. knowing a bit about costs since I'm in construction, I felt he was trying to scam my 86 year old mother who lives alone. I told her to turn the furnace back on and called My Guy who was able to come out and diagnose the furnace within a day. He confirmed there was no problem with the heat exchanger, it wasn't in a hazardous state, and made sure everything was in order. We started off with a brand new boiler for our 3 flat. The installer recommended we use William Stoker to service it every 6 months, but when we called for an appointment the receptionist laughed at us. I completely lucked out with My Guy HVAV. That was 8 years ago, and we've since bought a couple more buildings, and had Damien, Daniel, and the others help us with each one. They installed a furnace and a/c in our two flat with remote thermostats, and they revived a boiler in our new 3 flat. They've helped me through emergencies (broken radiator pipes, no heat) and strange questions (why is the wall bubbling? Plaster that didn't dry properly before it was painted), and even helped me find a better dryer and troubleshoot a water heater- without charging me extra! They offer a loyalty program where you can pay for both spring and autumn tune ups and save a bit if you pay in advance. They were very prompt in sending someone out to give me a quote on a new furnace. Unlike many companies who just wanted photos and will give a quote over the phone/email, Damian came out, took a look at my system and explained how we maybe able to get away with a smaller unit but would need a larger intake. He also said to give him a few days to put together a quote based on our house size vs just replacing what we currently have. This company is awesome. Our heat kept dropping and wouldn't stay on. Today was ease especially cold - high of 13. We described the issue and requested a quote via Yelp. We requested emergency service because it was quickly getting colder in the house. Dan called us within minutes. The quote was good. Nick was here within an hour. He is obviously knowledgeable, professional and efficient. Nick explained everything and just a nice guy. Even better, the repair was fast and reasonable. Our furnace is old, 10+ years. This company had great reviews so I reached out when we moved into a new home and needed our AC checked before it was needed. I also asked for a quote for a new furnace. The cost was ridiculously high for a 5 minute appointment ($150) where the guy said "yep, everything is good". Also the tech said we had no gas line attached to our furnace, which was not true, I never received my quote for the furnace after I was told I would get it within 24 hours, and never heard any follow up from anyone. I wanted to like these guys since I would rather use a local company versus a big business but felt their cost was high and they lost out on business by not providing a quote. Being hot and humid is one of my least favorite things, so one day when I turned on my AC and heard and felt the basement furnace/AC unit vibrating through the floor, I knew I needed some professional help. A quick Yelp search led me to My Guy HVAC. I called and spoke to a lovely gentleman on the phone (I believe his name was Dan?), who assessed my problem, gave me a rundown on their pricing, and set me up for an appointment 2 days later (I called Thursday afternoon and my AC was fixed on Saturday morning). On Saturday, Damian arrived on time, and started his investigations. He was such a professional and very courteous and polite, even though my tiny dogs barked pretty much the entire 2 hours. He thought the issue was dust in the blower wheel (?) and explained that he could remove it, clean it, and reinstall, and quoted me the price before proceeding with anything. He also did a maintenance check on both our units, topping one off with refrigerant, and now both of our AC units are running smoothly, and I know what follow-up maintenance to do in the fall and spring. Price run down (as of 6/14/14): - Diagnostic Fee: $129.95 (cost of repair varies, obviously). - Maintenance Clean & Check: $89.95/unit They take credit cards, and Damian hooked me up with a $25 off coupon for the service call (thank you!). A few days later, I even received a "thank you" card in the mail! I highly recommend these guys for maintenance or if your HVAC system stops working. When things in your house stop working, it can be frustrating but My Guy HVAC will take great care of you! Damian was knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I manage a condo for an out of town client who needed his HVAC unit checked out right away. It had been 90+ degrees outside for weeks and his unit was just not doing the job. They found time to come by right away and figure out what the problem was. They gave me a great assessment of what needed to be done right away, and what I could expect in the near future since the unit was an older model and not very efficient. I let them repair the unit and it was working great in no time. They offered to come back this fall to make sure the unit will be ready for winter. They are also going to provide an estimate for replacing the unit when my client is ready to upgrade. I am also a contractor and can tell when someone is just trying to take advantage of a bad situation. I've been trusting these guys to service my HVAC system for three years. The original system was not very well developed and I've used My Guy HVAC to re-route humidifier drain piping, install a Nest (with some wiring needed), replace my humidifier, and perform annual services. Each time they were excellent with timeliness, setting expectations, pricing (very reasonable), and end result. They've never tried to up-sell me or hassle me. I've even had to use their "emergency after hours service" once. Every single thing they've touched has worked better than it had in the past and they've truly been a joy to work with. Dealing with Dan in the office was painless, once scheduling via an email conversation and another via the phone. (Had them come out once to see what needed to be done, and then again once we decided to do it). Damien came both times (boot covers and all!). First time using them. Came out to service the AC units AND fix a glitch with my Ecobee thermostat. The two techs weren't sure they fixed the Ecobee. They thought maybe. A few days later, I had the opportunity to test it. It was a weird glitch because sometimes it would act up, and other times it wouldn't. In any case, I was able to determine that the Ecobee still wasn't working and therefore the techs hadn't solved the issue. I called them up again and explained. The owner came out, no exaggeration, within an hour of me calling on a Friday afternoon. He must have been nearby. He spent a full hour tracking down the unusual nature of the problem and ended up fixing it. I asked him what I owe him for the extra time? "Nothing." Great service by a smart guy. What I appreciated the most was that he stuck with it and kept trying to figure it out. He easily could have punted on it and been like, "eh, I think it's wired correctly, you need to call Ecobee." But he didn't do that; he stuck around and experimented until he figured it out. read more

Long overdue review of My Guy HVAC.. I reached out to My Guy a long tome ago back when I was renting an apartment and the heat went out on one of the coldest nights Chicago has ever seen. They got someone out to us within a few hours, which I thought was incredible considering how many people were likely having the same issues that night, and took care of the issue to make sure we wouldn't turn into popsicles while we slept. It has been a storybook romance ever since. We have used them to service, clean and replace HVAC in our homes ever since. Biggest waste of $100 ever! Paid them $100 for a diagnostic visit. The repairman spent a few minutes "tinkering" with the furnace and declared nothing wrong. Grinding and clicking sounds continued. Our furnace is very old but he never tried to sell us on something we didn't need because his evaluation let him know he could fix it.
