10/10 boba and unexpectedly amazing chicken! I came for the drinks, but the chicken completely stole the show. Huge shoutout to my cousin for ordering it because I never would've thought to try it myself. One bite and I was hooked. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and just the right amount of salt. Totally addictive. The shop itself is smaller (has easy and free parking) but super cozy, with seating available and zero wait time every time I've visited. It's a hidden gem that deserves way more attention. Don't sleep on this spot!

Tea Gather is a solid boba spot. Drinks can take a little while, but the cozy seating and board games make the wait easy. I haven't tried the hot food yet, but I see lots of people ordering it every time I'm in there.

    Classic Milk Tea

I originally visited Tea Gather a couple of weeks after they first opened back in early 2021. I was super excited to visit - it was a new boba shop after all, and in addition, I believe this was the only place (and still is the only place) in Metro Detroit that served 雞排 ji pai (jumbo fried chicken cutlet). Unfortunately, I found their boba to be especially hard and their cutlet to be soggy and oily on that visit. I decided to go again recently since I figured it could have just been some opening week jitters and/or trying to start a successful business during the height of the pandemic. I walked in after lunch on a weekend and found a couple of people lounging around and sipping on their drinks. I took a quick look at the menu again and I tried ordering the cutlet but I was told that they were out. I replaced it with the basil popcorn chicken and found out they also didn't have any basil. Flummoxed again, I had to go with the popcorn chicken without basil. Classic Milk Tea, Large, Half Sweet, Half Ice w/ Boba ($5.65) - I feel like they changed the recipe for this drink from my previous visit. Before, I have in my notes that they used pu-er, giving the drink a very earthy and woody taste. This drink on the other hand didn't have nearly the same flavor notes and was very muted in comparison. Instead, the flavor seemed to mostly come from the sugar syrup they use - a kind of caramelized smokiness. The sweetness level is still quite high even at half, at least for me. The boba this time was quite good - almost the ideal texture, with a bouncy and chewy exterior and a firmer interior. Popcorn Chicken without Basil ($8.75) - They hand make this to order so it take a bit of time. I could hear pounding and frying noises coming from the kitchen as this was being made. The chicken smelled amazing when it first came out - I will never get tired of that pepper and five spice fragrance. The chicken itself is tender and juicy thigh meat, with some skin and fattier portions adding additional richness. The exterior has a thin and delicate crisp from the fried sweet potato starch. We got this medium spicy, which added a mouth warming tingle. I think they might use shichimi for the spicy. There was actually quite a bit more white pepper added that I am used to in this dish and while there are usually some sweet and soy notes imparted on the chicken by the marinade, I couldn't really detect those flavors here. I think the boba at Tea Gather is in the top quartile of boba shops in Metro Detroit. If I lived nearby, this would definitely part of my regular rotation. As it stands though, I can only visit once in a while when I happen to be in the area.

Taro milk tea with grass jelly and red guava milk tea with lychee jelly

Came here after lunch with my sister. Was excited about the bubble tea in the area that is new to us. We ordered the taro milk tea with grass jelly and red guava milk tea with lychee jelly. We both enjoyed our bubble teas. It was filled with young people and is moody and dim in there.there is seating and games to hang out. If you need to use the restroom, you have to ask for the key. The service was quick and easy and the front counter gentleman was nice and knowledgeable.

I had noted this small establishment the last time I was in town. It is off the beaten path so even though I'm a regular diner and shopper in downtown Northville, this was my first time here. I was surprised by the number of pre-teens and teens here. One group was studying - their laptops all opened. The other group was enjoying time with friends. As expected from the business name, there are numerous teas available here: black, green, fruit teas, traditional teas, and milk teas. Smoothies, yakults, and finger goods are also available. I am a traditionalist when it comes to tea so I had black milk tea with honey and boba. I don't like powdered teas so I go with something basic. While there were three people working I found that it was slow going. However, I was very impressed by how they mixed up my beverage so that the milk did not just sit on top and cleaned up my cup so it was not sticky. Will I be back? Yes, if not for the tea, for the bubble waffles I saw being served up.

It is little hidden place in northville. From outside decor it looked like Taiwanese tea shop so I had to try them. We tried bubble waffles special which comes with ice cream and your choice of one topping. Also got winter melon boba tea , strawberry boba tea and Taro boba tea. I feel as everything was fairly priced. Soon as I entered , I was greeted immediately and they offered good friendly customer service. Interior was a little bit more monotone and darker lighting than I expected and could use some improvement but not a big deal.

I like visiting this place when I'm in northville. It's kind of hidden away in the back of a building, but if you know where it is, it's easy to get to. There's adequate parking nearby if you wanted to drive here, but it's perfect for you to take a night stroll in downtown Northville, and make this as one of your stops through the night. They have great options for bubble tea and jellies. I normally just get a slush with jellies and it's delicious. Perfect for a hot summer night walk and you are in need of a refreshing beverage.

Delicious drinks (you can get Hot Bubble Tea!) and excellent service. I would love to try their food since the reviews are so good. Fun place to meet up with friends and hang out. We'll be back!

Love this place the owner is so knowledgeable I found a place that's as good as San Francisco. It's nice and calm here. The milk tea tastes authentic. They also have chill music and I see people playing board games.

    Popcorn chicken!

Came on recommendation of a family friend from Taiwan after a full meal elsewhere and still stuffed ourselves here! They have a ton of options for drinks - I got the classic which was delicious with soft, chewy boba. The popcorn chicken tasted like it was made with chicken thighs which made the meat super juicy and the coating was well flavored and nice and thin. Would definitely try adding the fried basil next time as well! Wish I lived closer here, will try to swing by next time I'm in the area for sure! There was only one person working so the food and drinks took a little while to come out, but we weren't in a hurry so it was fine. They have a cute indoor seating area and outdoor patio as well as plenty of free parking!

Tea Gather is my favorite café in downtown Northville. There is an extensive menu of assorted tea, milk tea, traditional Chinese tea, and smoothies. I have only tried the traditional tea, but the bubble tea options look delicious from what I see other customers order. In addition to drinks, there is a small "Munchies" menu with Asian street food favorites like Crispy Tofu, Basil Popcorn Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Jumbo Fried Chicken Cutlet, Bubble Waffle, Salted Green Beans, and Cuttle Fish Balls. My favorites are the Basil Popcorn Chicken and Crispy Tofu. Everything is made to order with the option of adding spicy seasoning. The food is always served hot, crispy, and tender. The owner is friendly and the café is clean, spacious, and serene. It makes a good place to hang out with friends, relax, or work on one's laptop. There are also games in the back that are available to customers like Monopoly, Pictionary, Scrabble, and Connect 4. Free parking is available both in front of Tea Gather and in the parking structure next door.

I'm sooo so glad that there is a bubble tea place in Downtown Northville! I think that Tea Gather is super authentic. I overheard the staff speak in Mandarin and several customers after me were ordering in Mandarin. It makes me happy to hear spoken Mandarin. It reminds me of home. I got the Taro milk tea with custard. There are so many flavors and toppings to choose from, which means endless combinations for customers to create! Have fun discovering your favorite drink! My brother also suggested me to try the popcorn chicken. It seemed to be made of dark meat, which makes it extra tender! So delicious! The interior is spacious and they have an umbrella for outdoor seating. I walked around and I saw board games on the shelves. What a cool spot to hang out with your friends in Downtown Northville?

We were a little confused though, because Hers Zakka is a small Japanese market, and the influencer video made it seem there was a cafe inside (did not see mention of Onezo Cafe). Actually, Hers Zakka is a market, but it does not sell cooked food. For that, you go to Onezo Cafe, and the two businesses are joined on the inside. That being said, Hers Zakka has a lot of cute items and yummy-looking snacks, that we fully intend to return and explore later. Now, I will focus the rest of my review on Onezo Cafe. Onezo Cafe is very spacious with comfy seats and a cute setup. There is a glass case full of delicious-looking confections, but my husband and I needed real food. We walked to the counter and ordered, then we noticed the ordering kiosk off to the side. The staff was very friendly.... My husband ordered the Karaage chicken combo (#8), which came with salad, California rolls, and either a tonkatsu miso or spicy tofu broth. I ordered the Korean fried chicken (KFC) combo (#10), which came with rice, salad and the same broth choices. Though my husband and I both chose spicy tofu broth, they gave him the tonkatsu, and to my dismay the spicy tofu had egg in it. Since my husband has a pork allergy and I'm allergic to eggs, we just switched. While I'm not a fan of pork, I must say the tonkatsu miso broth was delicious! My husband said the same about the spicy miso. The California rolls on my husband's place looked very mayoey, so I could not try them. My husband confirmed however, that they were indeed very good. The chicken on both our plates was very good. The Karaage was fried well and had a very good taste. The KFC was essentially the Karaage rolled in sauce. While tasty, the KFC sauce was more sweet than spicy, when I prefer more of a kick. Onezo Cafe also sells boba teas. My husband got the Coral Sea with Crystal Boba (lychee honey lemon tea), and I got the Grape Crush with Aloe (subbed coconut jelly). Both teas were delicious. We lived on the East Coast for a while, and there was a boba tea chain named Mr. Wish. I used to practically mainline this stuff, and was sad there was no Mr. Wish in MI - or anything close. One sip of my Grape Crush had me saying "Mr. Who?"! I'm not being patronizing. After three years back home I had given up on finding a boba tea I liked as much as Mr. Wish! The portion was perfect, as we were able to fill our bellies with minimal food waste. We had a plan to grab a few of their onigiri (rice balls) for later along with a dessert, but we were too full! Our total order (including tax)nwas about $40, which was a good value. I'm giving a 4-star rating. It was not clear that the spicy tofu soup contained egg, and the KFC was more sweet than spicy. Im not counting the soup mixup because that actually was a blessing in disguise. We will definitely return to explore the menu more! Same for Hers Zakka; I have my shopping list ready!

The makeup section was a nice surprise. The gachapon is a bit expensive (1 token is like $2 and the machines require like 4 or 5 tokens depending on the toy) but I don't know the going rate for gachapon so maybe that's standard pricing? The drinks area is at the back of the store and there is ample seating to the side. The employee was friendly. I ordered a milk tea which was pleasant, not the best I've had but the price was very reasonable. The tapioca was interesting, irregularly shaped and chewy, and the core was a bit harder than the rest of it. My friend enjoyed her matcha.
