Absolutely the best waxes I've ever had in this area. Everyone is very professional and kind. While I was getting my eyebrows done, Maryam saw I had dry skin and put some lotion on me out of the kindness of her heart. The front desk is really helpful as well. My daughter and I booked at the last minute 2 massages for their special spring deal. I knew we weren't going to a major massage factory or a hotel level spa. For the 69.00 deal it was a solid 50 min massage that was well executed. Table was warm, surroundings clean, they offered water at arrival and at the conclusion of the service. Set your expectations properly for price and environment: it is a small nail salon in the front, with a couple of private rooms with thin walls in the back for salon services, this is a small boutique operation in the Kentlands business district. Like many people writing a review, I too came here after purchasing a Groupon. The day spa is located in the heart of Kentlands, and there is street parking available right outside or parking in a nearby lot. After scheduling the appointment, I found it convenient to complete the patient intake forms online. It was a time saver and there was no need to worry about leaving papers at home. Melissa gave us a courtesy call to confirm our appointment for a couples massage, and I even received a text reminder (you can opt to unsubscribe from texts). On the day of our appointment, we received a phone call from Melissa informing us that they were running a little behind schedule and if it was possible to come in a little later (15 minutes). I was very appreciative of the fact that they were being considerate of my time to notify me prior to arriving. Once we arrived, we were offered water and tea while we waited. We were then taken to a back room and the masseuses came in. They did not introduce themselves, but each asked if we were comfortable. My husband enjoyed his massage, and Mimi was very attentive. She would always check in and ask if the pressure level was okay and told him when to take deep breaths during certain points of the massage. My masseuse, Dorianne was not as talkative. She asked me once if I was doing okay and after I told her where my trigger points of pain were I barely felt as though they were addressed. Some parts of the massage were slightly uncomfortable because of the amount of pressure that was applied. I expected her to ask on occasion at least if I was fine with the pressure, but she only did once in the beginning. The walls are thin and we could hear talking through the walls from the wine store next door. Be careful with these guys. We called to ask if there is an upcharge for prenatal massage with their Groupon deal... they said "NO upcharge." They said to go ahead and buy the groupon before scheduling the appointment, so we did. Ten minutes later we called back to schedule the appointment... spoke to the same person ... but now she said "sorry there is a $30 upcharge" ... They won't honor their word, the manager won't accept that their employee quoted something incorrectly and forced us to call Groupon to get our money back. Terrible experience. This place is absolutely a hidden gem. I have always gone there for massages since they open. Each time I go there I try different people and every one of them are great. A few weeks I ago I tried a facial because my friend gave me a gift, and the ethetician she was very good. I've done facial a few times in other places and I know my skin is sensitive. I had a groupon for a shellac manicure. I arrived on time and had to wait about 25 minutes to be seen. During my manicure, I asked the technician to please remove the excess gel on my cuticle area, as I knew that this would cause the gel to peel off easily. She did not remove it and said it would come off at the end. Since this was gel, it was then thickly baked on. Upon returning home, I could feel the thickness by the cuticle and sides of the nail and a few days later one nail was almost peeled off. In an attempt to fix the messy gel on the cuticle area, chips formed. Now I am a week later and my nails do not look fresh or new as promised. The nails are chipped at the tips because they weren't sealed properly. My groupin came with a soak off but I am going to go to a different place to get a completely new set, done correctly. The technician was very friendly and seemed like a nice person, however, a few extra minutes on cleaning up the gel before baking it would go a very long way. read more

I had a 10am appointment and it had been snowing since the night before. It was also a holiday, so the streets have not been plowed by the morning. Half an hour before my appointment, I called trying to find out if they are still open, given the hard snowfall. No answer, so I started to drive over. At 10:05, I haven't arrived yet because of the unplowed roads, so I tried calling the spa again to let them know I'd be late. This time, the receptionist put me on hold, and five minutes later I hung up. I tried calling again, and this time the calls were going directly to voicemail. At 10:20, the spa calls me back asking if I am still coming. I tell them I am still driving, the roads are dangerous and I'm going to just turn back. They said that they'll be charging me a $20 cancellation fee. I asked if I can come in a little later in the day, to which they said would be fine but I'd still be subjected to a $20 fee. I have never written a negative review on Yelp, this is my first time writing anything negative about any place, because the customer service was simply unreasonable. read more

So, the only reason I ended up going is because they REDEEMED MY GROUPON without me getting any services. I was afraid they would deny they did so, so I just chose to go anyway. They lady that did my nails was very polite. My pedi looks awesome, but the mani not so much. When I got home, I realized there was a huge piece of lint in the nail polish which made my nail look bumpy and wasn't painted all the way down to my cuticle. You can't really see the lint in the pic but its there. Usually, other salons offer you tea, water, sparkling water, etc. Here they asked me what I wanted to drink and I just stuck with water bc I didn't know if they had anything else..it was brought in a small paper cup from Costco. 2 reasons this wasn't a 5 star experience for me. 1) if you book an hour massage, expect only 45-50 min massage. I arrived at the exact time and by the time you checked in, filled out paperwork and get into the room and undressed, you easily lost 10 mins. the therapist have one hour appointment back to back, so she will end the session 5 mins early so you can get dressed again and setup for the next customer. The massage was decent, but I wish they have advertised this is a 50 mins massage instead of an hour massage. It is not possible to get an hour massage under this system. I mentioned this to them and they didn't take any action to address that. I normally leave 20% tip, so I reduced to 16% tip for this reason. 2) I also booked a pedi after my massage, but when I came out from my masage, they said you appointment was not ready for another 30 mins. When I booked my appt, the pedi should be right after my massage. So I just told them don't worry about it. Will I go back? Mmmm...probably not. read more

As I was preparing to run a half marathon on Sunday, I decided to get a massage the day before to relax me. I used a Groupon for a 60 minute Swedish massage. Upon arriving, I was greeted at the front desk and checked in. I was offered water/tea and I took a seat and completed the intake form. No issues with the Groupon. The space is small, two pedicure chairs and a small manicure space. My massage therapist, Jenny, came out to get me pretty much on time. I could hear talking and laughing from the front area, which happens in smaller spaces, just not relaxing. The room was tiny, but the massage itself is where I started to have a problem. I had indicated on my form that I wanted firm pressure, not deep tissue. I requested a focus on my back and shoulders. She did spend quite a bit of time on those areas, however I was in pain most of the time. It felt as though she was ramming her elbow into different spots on my back. I tried to be tough and thought to myself that it would help in the long run. However, at one point she hit a spot that was very painful. She could tell from my reaction that it hurt, she stopped and said that my tendon was contracting. I asked her if that was a bad thing but she did not respond and kept going...The massage on other parts of my body were okay, but again I felt that the pressure was too much. I've had plenty of other firm pressure, Swedish massages that were nothing like this one. The kicker was at the end. She finished with my feet and legs. She spent more time on my right leg, then yanked on it hard one time. She then stated that my right leg was shorter than my left leg, which is why she had yanked on that leg. My biggest problem was that she noted problems but did not offer any explanation or solutions. I did not feel good (mentally) when I left, rather I felt confused and worried that my body was going to be sore from the massage and questioning what to do, if anything, about my "contracting tendon." I didn't feel any rapport with the therapist, which was also a first. Pretty disappointing- I do not think I will go back. read more

I found a great deal on Groupon for a paradise spa pedicure ($65 value) for only $29. How excited was I? My first pedicure experience was great, so I couldn't wait to give my feet another round of TLC. This time, I invited a friend to come with me. After telling her about the Groupon, she was more excited than I was. My friend and I arrived a bit early. The employee at the front desk greeted us warmly. I told the her that we had made a reservation. She found our reservation right away and showed us to the waiting area right around the corner. The ambience was nice and the music was soothing. The place seemed really clean, too. After chatting with my friend for a few minutes, the estheticians announced that they were ready for us. I took off my shoes and socks (I had left my sandals back home in Pittsburgh) and plunged my feet into the water. The water temperature needed a little adjusting, but after, I had no issues with it. My esthetician jokingly asked what color nail polish I would like. I must have looked a little taken aback because she and her colleague giggled. I went along with it and said that the pink one looked nice and could bring out the color of my personality. We had a good laugh at that. My esthetician did a great job exfoliating, scrubbing, and rubbing my feet. I am a rather ticklish guy and I wanted to squirm while she scrubbed my feet, but somehow I managed to keep still and not laugh. Later, in all seriousness, she asked if I wanted my nails buffed or have clear polish. After pondering, I decided to take a chance and have her apply clear polish on my nails. Nobody except I will see them anyway! After we were done, we gave our estheticians a generous tip for their professionalism, friendliness, and expertise. I regret not remembering their names now! Argh... Anyway, my feet are happy and my toes are bright and good looking. Whenever I am back in Gaithersburg, I will make plans to get another pedicure and/or manicure here. read more

The Owner introduced herself to me, she gave me a membership card so I could repeatedly return for the pedicure service that I applauded on, at a set discounted members' price. I made an appointment and came in but I was DENIED service. The receptionist/front desk young lady said that this card is UNacceptable even though the owner/manager initialed and wrote her name and phone numbers on the card. I said to call and verify with her, she turned around and told me: she CANNOT accept this card. I can purchase a membership or pay the full price so I stood there calling several times with the phone numbers listed and left messages but got no one- just nothing!!! So my boyfriend and I found a couples massage deal for this location on groupon and decided to try it for our anniversary. We have gotten several couples massages and personal massages over the years and I must say, this was the best massage either of us has ever had. I had Mimi and he had Tris; they were incredible. I also asked if the spa had time for an underarm wax and was immediately taken upon asking. The location isn't large but what they lack in space they make up for in ambiance and hospitality. My fiance and I have had 2 couples' massages here at Tea Spa and both instances have been thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing. The staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. We were nearly half an hour late to our recent appointment and the ladies there did not make us feel rushed or like an inconvenience. The beds are warm and I love how they set the atmosphere in each therapy room (relaxing music, dim lights, salt lamp, warm room & bed). Our therapists were Amy and Leah and both ladies treated us with respect and care during our session. They checked to make sure that the pressures were comfortable, if there were any areas to focus on and whether there were any areas that they should stay away from (I really appreciate those kinds of questions). After our session, they offered us water and tea. They just made us feel pampered and cared for. We loved it so much that we decided to purchase into their membership program knowing that we'd be back for another massage soon. The membership ($49/year) offers great discounted prices on popular services (we really frequent getting couples' massages), discounted massage coupons to give to family/friends, as well as extra coupons to use or to add to massage services, all at a discounted price or no charge on the added services at all (with membership, of course). So my facial was pretty underwhelming. Usually when you are laying down waiting for a mask to do it's magic the aesthetician will either massage your shoulders or work on your neck/ chest. This one just walked out of the room and told me to take a nap. She tried to sell me tons of products to where it started to feel uncomfortable. It's not unusual at all for someone to try to sell products during a facial but this was excessive. I should have had more extractions done as I walked away with bumps full of crap still on my face. Basically everything she did, I could have done at home. I go get facials because there are things I can't do at home and an aesthetician is qualified to handle things I can't. It just wasn't a good facial at all. I won't go back to get a facial there. I also got a massage that was pretty good. I was happy with that. Just won't go for a facial. I am writing this update to let interested Yelpers know how my membership program worked out so far. Their membership does not require you to visit monthly but I been doing it every month for about half a year now. Nadia really knew the areas to focus on (such as my feet and shoulders) from my requests of earlier visits. This made each visit better, allowing me to relax and enjoy the massages. Whenever I requested more or less pressure, she quickly compiled and always remembered for my following visits. The room was always clean with a couple soft glowing night lights or lighted candles, the table and head rest sheets were always clean and smelled fresh, and there was always soft soothing music to complete the atmosphere for relaxation.
