I went on The Magic Bus Tour yesterday, thanks Yelp for the free ride! The bus was cool looking inside, the concept is great, people were nice and met new friends. But I have to be honest I got kinda bored with some of the history part..yawn! oops, cover my mouth, did that a few times. I was expecting the history of SF in the 60s since it is a SF tour bus. There was some but mostly just 60s history in general, stuff I learned in high school. Maybe some of that LSD they were talking about in the film would make it a lot more interesting, they had some cool lighting effects going on (Umm say no to drugs!). Well it was an experience, I can say it's not like any tour bus I've ever gone on, that's a good thing. read more

8 is my lucky number and this party bus gets my oh-so-important 800th review! Last night, I was debating having a low-key night. Then, I met up with a good friend of mine since she was in my neighborhood... Before I knew it, I'd agreed to join her and her friends on their party bus. It was only $20 per person and was hard to say "no"! This bus is a HUGE PARTY just waiting to happen. As soon as we got on the bus around 9:45, the crazy party began. We were blasting the music and dancing (and falling) all over the bus before we even started moving. We brought 3 huge coolers with adult beverages and enjoyed them along the way... We first went over the Golden Gate Bridge to take party pictures by the bridge and then back to clubs in San Francisco. The bus rides in between stops were SO fun! We only wished there were a bathroom on the bus so we could continue drinking and ride along longer... I just found out from another review that this bus uses bio-diesel which makes it even better! Watch out for the driver's fast breaking because a lot of people and drinks flew forward a few times! read more

Without a doubt the best birthday party I've ever had. Actually, this was probably the best party I've ever had, period. One of my best friends and I share the same birthday so we wanted to do something special. He at first wanted to hire a regular party bus but I fell in love with the Yelp reviews for Teacher With a Bus and convinced him to go for it. We filled the bus with 40 friends and had an amazing time. The next day, our facebook event page was filled with things like "Best party ever" and "Oh my god, what happened last night?". Looking back at the pictures felt like the last scene from "The Hangover". Our driver, Alex, was extremely patient and fun. We made stops at Treasure Island, a bar in the Castro, Twin Peaks and finally the Golden Gate bridge. The bus is so charming and has an unbelievable sound system. This bus pulled into the lot, and my immediate thought were OMG. this is SUCH a burning man bus! and it was fantastic. Gray old school school bus, with multi colored tires =) I put together a napa winetasting trip for me and 30 of my closest friends..and Peter (the owner) was MORE than accomodating & helpful in the whole process of booking, & then working with me on getting all this drunken debauchery on the road. I HIGHLY recommend renting from Teacher with The Bus..'cause you are guaranteed an awesome time, there is a DANCE FLOOR on the back of the bus..and trust me, it is definitely a memorable time trying to dance,drink, and take pictures while that bus is moving. luckily none of us fell on our asses & hurt ourselves. There is ipod/mp3 player hookup, so you are in full control of the music, and that sound system is ridiculously loud =)) You are free to bring onboard your own alcohol, food, whatever...and our driver even made pitstops at liquor stores for us along the way when we ran out..which was often =P We did get a little lost, but that was my bad since i forgot to send Peter the wineries beforehand, but we got to our wineries, we got drunk, we had a fantastic day..and for $1200 bux for 30 people for 8 hours...it's a STEAL. I'm already brainstorming the next napa trip...and i'll definitely be booking with Peter again! read more

Get on the bus! Seriously, get on this bus 'cause it's way more fun and clean than MUNI. A group of us hired Teacher With the Bus for a trip up to wine country and we had a blast. Although this bus can accommodate up to 40 people, we kept it cozy with a much smaller group. Our driver showed up right on time and waited patiently for a few stragglers to arrive. He had a GPS ready to roll so all we had to do is program in the address of the winery and off we went! The best part about this bus? There's a rockin' sound system inside, where you can plug in an iPod with a playlist. The speakers are HUGE and can blast as loud as you'd like. It was hilarious to have onlookers stare at us while we drove through downtown Napa. Yes, we were "those people." Even though we requested to be back in SF by 8 pm, our tour lasted a bit longer than expected and our driver never said a word. Of course I made sure to give him a generous tip for his time, but he was super cool about the situation. It was nice not to have to worry about spitting out the wine since I wasn't driving for a change. Party time! Will definitely keep Teacher with the Bus in my contacts list for future road parties to wine country. Or just ride around in the city, drinking booze and hanging out the window. This huge bus is like nothing you have ever experienced....unless you have been on it before. Awesome factors: 1) Its veggie oil powered, so its not bad for the environment. 2) He has put a black and white checked dance floor in the bus, where the seats should be. 3) The seats line the outer rim of the bus, so you can watch the people dance on the black and white checked dance floor. 4) You can dance on the freeway, in SF, wherever the bus is hired to go, all on the move. 5) Drinking is encouraged. 6) There is an ipod dock for your own tunes. 7) You have to pay more if anyone pukes on the bus.....thereby eliminating people puking. 8) Definitely the best party bus in the city..... 9) It even drove us all the way to Redwood City 10) The back seat vibrates, cuz its over the tires. It's hard to find a single bad thing to say about the Teacher Bus... and for good reason: it's an amazing experience! Though I've had a few pow wows with the man behind the bus about doing future Yelp events, I'd yet to actually ride the bus until I hopped aboard Mr. Stuart Schuffman's Broke Ass Bar Crawl on wheels last night throughout this fine city of ours. It's arguable that you can just pay $2 for a fare aboard one of our beautiful MUNI lines (since it seems like there's always someone poppin' High Life every time I ride) and call it a party bus, but a lift aboard this bad boy is a surefire way to do it right. Unlike other party buses you've probably experienced, this silver bullet is stripped of pretension and it's purpose is pretty clear: to get you from A to B in a safe, yet crazy enjoyable fashion! You can bring booze aboard the ride and the layout of the seats makes it really easy to interact with other people in your party. I'd recommend the Teacher Bus for anyone that's looking to celebrate a night on the town, a trip to wine country, or any other excursion that you deem worthy of renting a 7 ton monster of a people mover. read more

Let me just say, this was a million times better! The bus itself was way more appropriate than think escapes "party bus" which was really like a mini greyhound style shuttle bus.. The bus is built out with a sound system and dance floor in the back, bench seating all around, a table for appetizers.. It was roomy and comfortable, the windows all open for nice circulation, and best of all, it's no cookie cutter schedule. You basically plan where you want to go, instead of this choose from a list of 1/2 dozen lame clubs/bars... we crossed the golden gate and pulled over at the vista point for a champagne toast looking back over the night skyline, then headed to an "amusing" bar, over to Delores Park for midnight pinata bashing, and then off to a traditional japanese karaoke spot (the kind where you rent a private room with friends).. But really since it is a create your own itinerary, you could do just about anything with the bus. The driver/owner is totally cool, super friendly, and easy going. It can't be fun to drive a bus full of crazy drunk girls around on a Saturday night, especially when you have a sick kid at home, but he was a great sport and made for a very memorable night! read more

Wow. I couldn't be more pleased with these guys. I called just 3 days prior to my event and Peter was incredibly easy to work with. In just a few minutes we'd arranged for the bus to pick up my group of 25 (though he said it could accomodate up to 40) for a day of wine tasting. Our driver Alex arrived 15 minutes early with his pet chihuahua Charlie. Yes, you read that right, our bus came with a friendly driver and an adorable, calm puppy who made the day that much more ridiculously awesome. Honestly, I can't rave enough about the experience. Highly recommend for casual daytime trips. The bus was fun and casual - a nice break from the over-formal party buses I'd rented in the past. Give them a try! You won't be disappointed. read more

Just when I thought you couldn't throw a better party than the Mexican Party bus, I came across the German Party bus. For unknown reason the Mexican party bus was not doing trips this summer and i was recommended by the owner to check out the German party bus. This thing is amazing. benches around the edge of the "dance floor," YES DANCE FLOOR. Peter is a great guy and was very patient with my extremely inebriated crowd. Maybe next year we'll rent the mexican bus and the german bus. None the less My 3rd annual Bus party is in the works. read more

I used these guys for my boyfriend's 26th birthday party in March. Friends were talking about it for weeks and I still hear from all of our friends that they want to do it again! We had about 30 people on the bus with 8 cases of beer and 3 handles of liquor. I ordered some shutter shades and plastic shot glasses from Oriental Trading to add to our shenanigans, and then bought to 2 Flabongos.. because, well.. why not? Started off our route leaving from Yukol (Thai Cuisine) on Lombard and Scott, headed up to the top of Twin Peaks (we got lucky with a clear night and saw the lights of the city), then hit a dive bar in Noe Valley, and ended our night at Maggy McGarry's. Top 5 nights in the city! Will be using these guys again in the near future! read more

I rented this bus for my birthday this year, and it was totally fucking awesome. Peter was very helpful and answered all of our questions, and our driver was really nice. He suggested some trip destinations, I didn't really plan that far ahead, and took great care of us. My friends all chipped in money for bus rental and booze, it amounted to about $20 a person in total, which is cheap for a night out with almost 40 people. Hooking up music is super easy, they have plugs that jack right into your laptop or ipod. LOUD speakers for blasting music, and dancing. It does get a little hard for taller friends, I invited a couple people over 6', but overall, it was a totally great experience. I highly recommend it. read more

Do you know how hard it is to find a party bus without a stripper pole and neon lighting? Flippin' difficult. We needed a party bus, but other bus companies seem to strictly cater to bros, hookers, and women who wear leopard prints. A few friends and I reserved this bus for a bachelorette party on July 5. This Teacher bus was exactly what we needed! Clean, spacious, and aesthetically fun! It was a good nerdy time. We brought an ipod and a cooler of wine and champagne. Being in this bus was way more enjoyable than partying at the planned destinations. This bus seem to have a life and personality of its own! Such a home-grown, down to earth, laid back vibe. I know it is just a vehicle, but the Teacher bus is MAGIC. Also, our driver Alex (HI ALEX!) was unbelievably great. I was an idiot and left my ID at the hotel (for the hundredth time, people, I have not had to show ID in freakin' years--CA needs to loosen up a bit--geez), so amazing Alex drove me all the way back to the hotel so I could pick up proper identification. TH nights just got amazing. 26FEB09 i was paying a friend back for helping me with a bunch of electronic nightmares and i took him on our virgin tour of DA Bus. it is about $22/bucks including ticket fees which are super easy to purchase online. you meet in SOMA at The Bus Stop Gallery, well worth the visit, the creations on display were gorgeous. then for about 3.5 hours, you drive around the city and selected spots in the East Bay for merriment and dancing with views or privacy, depending on the locale. the sound system gets directed outside when the bus is stopped and when you are bumping around town, your booTay is bumping around inside. nice lineup of DJs headline each ride and they are avail for hire as well. really, this is a 'something' NOT to be missed. http://transportedsf.com/ read more

Getting an MD requires an appropriately big party to celebrate. And a big party was had on the TEACHER BUS!!! I cannot recommend Peter (and our driver, Alex) highly enough. From arranging the bus to helping me plan the route to helping me adjust the route once fog rolled in to some of my original destinations, everything went incredibly smoothly! This is a long overdue review of Peter's Teacher Bus. I've used this bus for my last two birthday parties, and had a great experience each time. I filled the bus with 39 of my friends (making 40 of us total) and stopped at different view spots such as Twin Peaks, Point Bonita, and Ocean Beach. The driver, Alex, was very accommodating to my group and I changing our final drop-off location. I'm looking forward to celebrating yet another birthday with the Teacher Bus this year! read more

For my 30th birthday (also my golden birthday) last year, I wanted to go roller skating. There isn't a roller rink in San Francisco. The solution was to find transportation to the roller rink in Redwood City. Well, my party blew up and we wound up with a very large number of peeps (you can imagine how loved this made me feel!) and needed something big. My friend suggested this bus. From the minute this bus rolled up I knew it was gonna be epic. It's formerly a school bus, but the rows of seats have been removed. In their place is bench seating along either wall with a DANCEFLOOR in the middle. The very back has some cushiony couch-ish seating. We piled 32 party peeps and lots of booze into this thing and off we went. My friends STILL talk about this party. Still. It was January 2008. I can't recommend this magic bus enough...it's GROOVY AS HELL. read more

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I have to say, my sister thinks of everything. Even in coming up with party-type transportation for my bachelorette party, she found me a "green" bus! The bus had more than enough space for our party of 15. We managed to drink cocktails and have a burlesque lesson. The German Bus is ridiculously fantastic! I was about to rent the Mexican Party bus until Adam L. directed me towards this fabulous, school bus transpired into hip, modern, trendy party bus and I immediately changed my mind. My friends had a blast dancing in the back on the dance floor and we rocked out to a playlist I had made on my iPod...having total control of the music is a major plus. Peter, the owner, is really laid back and checks in with you throughout the night as he drops you off at your prearranged, requested stops. It was $675 for four hours, plus a tip and totally worth every penny. We were able to bring our own liquor on board & I highly recommend putting it in a sturdy container because mine broke and ice went everywhere making the floor slippery...although, that did add a new layer of fun to the moving automobile. Best part of the night? When my friend performed a birthday dance for me in the back of the bus in front of 25 people and ended it with pouring beer all over himself like a rock star! read more

I HIGHLY recommend this bus! It was my friends 30th birthday and after much research on party buses I booked this bus. WE LOVED it! If you are looking for the typical Limo-Type bus that dumps people on and off at every bar ... then this is not the bus for you. On the other hand if you are looking for a super-unique bus where you can have your own music, good sound,hang out on the bus and a cool bus driver at incredibly reasonable rates ... You,ll love it. He took us across the Golden gate, up to Marin headlands and dropped us at a club (where he got concessions for the whole group). I cannot express how much fun my group of 40 had using Teacher with the Bus, but it was as awesome as awesome could be. Our driver was probably one of the most understanding people you will ever meet. We were loud, obnoxious, and down right wild, but our driver, Alex, was as cool as can be. He was definitely one of those people you would consider a great honor to meet in your life time as he was in the inner essence, "good people." The bus is basically what is says it is. Instead of the standard seating of a school bus, you have long benches along the sides, which makes tons of room for raging out and dancing. We had our friend DJ and lets just say it was a night that we won't forget. We are a nonprofit in Berkeley that advocates for zero waste, and the Teacher Bus was perfect for taking some out-of-town visitors to see a composting facility in Vacaville. The bus is set up so that folks face each other and can talk and even move around if needed. The staff were extremely helpful and reliable, beginning at the planning stage and going all the way through our final drop off. Everything was really great. I booked the bus for my fiance's 30th birthday back in December and he loved it so much that he's thinking about booking the bus for his bachelor party! Peter was such an easy vendor to work with. He responded promptly to all my emails and was incredibly chill with my rowdy crowd. He offered great suggestions for our outing and even drove around randomly for us after we had reached our final stop early. This bus was rad. From the start, Peter and his team were easy to work with and available to offer insight on the schedule and answer all my questions in planning for the evening (i.e. yes - we can decorate the bus, yes - we can bring cake and snacks, yes- we can have a piñata). What sets it apart from other party busses (i.e. Mexican party bus - which for the record broke down on Russian Hill the last time I booked it, etc), is the layout - its actually conducive to partying... which is the point of a party bus, after all. The bench seats around the perimeter made plenty of room for dancing in the middle, and were awesome for being able to chat, mingle, dance, get to/from the cooler, etc. The retro style was super cool - grey exterior with orange and white bench seats inside. The bus had a great sound system, was super clean, and the driver, Alex, was great to work with. He took us to Twin Peaks, Bamboo Hut, and Treasure Island, and helped us revise our schedule on the fly so we could hit the best spots and adjust as the evening went on. He arrived early, and we finished right on time. An all-around great experience. The best part is the feel good part: by day this solar/biodiesel-powered party bus takes underprivileged youth on field trips. Great cause, inspirational story. What other way can you dance yourself across the Golden Gate Bridge, while still feeling pretty solid about your carbon footprint? We just rented the Teacher bus for my sister's bachelorette party and loved it! I knew my sister would appreciate the fact that these buses run on solar power and bio diesel, so I was pretty much sold on them before I even knew anything else about the buses. We couldn't have made a better decision!! When I booked it, Peter recommended that we take the bus to a beautiful look out point and have our own party (you can bring your own drinks and they have an ipod hookup with good speakers) instead of going around the city to different bars! I'm so glad we decided to do this option as it was definitely unique. We ended up going to the Twin Peaks look out point, which was unfortunately completely fogged in, so there were no views whatsoever, but it was still fun. Our driver was incredibly sweet and very prompt. All in all, it was super easy to work with this company and I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for something a little bit different for a special occasion! read more
