Teak is one of my go-to sushi spots in the city. Sadly, I moved to Mount Adams *right* after Teak relocated to OTR. Otherwise, I'm sure I would've been trekking up Saint Gregory Street to order some rolls to-go at least once a week. I've brought visiting friends and family to Teak OTR ... even celebrated a birthday here. This place is something special. In all my years of sushi sampling ... I've come to learn there are two types of folks that will eat raw fish. There's "sushi purists" ... those are your friends that will only order sashimi and nigiri. Then ... you've got your "roll-with-it" people. These are the friends that want it all as long as it's rolled ... tempura-fried, spicy, stuffed ... you name it, they'll eat it. There's also a third, lesser known type of sushi person ... that doesn't eat raw fish. We still invite these people out ... even if we don't agree with their taste preferences. ;) Regardless of who's coming to your sushi dinner ... Teak OTR will satisfy them all. We haven't tried a roll we didn't like ... although we have several favorites. The Honey Bee, the Spicy Duo, the Sunday Morning and the Kiwi Roll are our "must-orders." We also can't start a sushi dinner without crab rangoons ... and Teak's are always fresh out of the fryer and filled with creamy, crabby deliciousness. Their Thai food is also excellent ... and customizable based on how much heat you can handle. It's also pretty easy to get a reservation through OpenTable ... and I would definitely recommend one on Friday and Saturday nights. Plan to get there a little early so you can find parking -- especially if there's an FC Cincinnati game going on. (Local tip -- park South of Central and ride the Streetcar, it's free!) Writing this review made me hungry ... I might just need a spontaneous Teak visit tonight. read more

I was craving some Thai and found myself circling Findlay Market like a shark hunting for a tasty meal - I have to say the parking is pretty scarce near Teak - curbside and a lot across the street - I managed to locate a spot near the restaurant and set my parking meter - love the convenience of the Cincinnati Parking app - The interior is an inviting space with modern decor and a spectacular window to enjoy the sunshine and passersby - one of my favorite meal time activities - the server was friendly and helpful with suggestions - plenty of great drink options if you'd like to start with a refreshing Teak Margarita or Watermelon Martini - it's can't miss! I was surprised that sushi was available too - I came for Thai and left with sushi! I have to say, the sushi was delicious! It's nice to have a few options- The server gave me some great suggestions for an appetizer - the spicy fried calamari was a hit! Next time I come for lunch I will definitely try out the Teak Trio - what's not to like about beef, chicken and pork belly on top of a bed of stir fried vegetables! We ordered noodles here and it was very good. Their heat levels are 3 - 10. I ordered my pad thai at level 3 and really couldn't taste the heat at all. So I might order again at a level 4 or 5. You only get 4 oysters in their appetizer but they were so delicious. The ginger salad was very good. I could drink the dressing! The wait staff was very nice and super-efficient! Not sure if they were rushing us out but we ended up being there a little over an hour, which is a fair amount of time, right? There is no buffer/foyer between the entrance door and where you sit so I'd suggest not going during very cold or bad weather. Our reservation was early evening on a very cold Saturday evening. (30 degrees and very breezy). Our food got cold really quick before we finished it and we were sitting near the bar. It's a small place with very tight seating but I'd go again in the spring or fall; never in the summer nor winter. My friends and I enjoyed a late dinner on Friday night in OTR. We came from another event nearby and were hungry and with it being Friday night OTR was hopping, we walked in and even though the restaurant was full the host took care of us and we were seated minutes later. We reviewed the menu and there were so many options to choose from finally about 10 minutes later a waitress came to our table, we asked a few questions and put in our order right away. One friend ordered chicken pad thai, another broccoli chicken and I love chicken Thai spicy, but wanted noodles, so they accommodated and served over noodles. Our food came hot from the kitchen and was delicious plus plentiful portions, i enjoyed every bite and so did my friends, we all took home leftovers. Also the food stayed hot for quite some time, I think the plates they use help keep your meal hot. They have a variety of drinks, local craft beer. The only item was we ordered spring rolls and they didn't recall us ordering them - they did come, but was after our meal arrived and we were too stuffed to enjoy them. read more

As a subscriber to a nearby theater, I dine at Teak quite often, at least once a month, and I have for years. I usually have as many as five or six in my party. The food is fine, as is the ambience, but the main reason I've gone there so often is because it's walking distance to the theater. On my most recent visit, something happened that has never happened at Teak OTR before, and it made me so angry that I decided to leave a review. Neither the food nor the ambience is worth tolerating what happened. I had a reservation at 6, and my friend and I had dinner. At 645, we paid our bill and planned to finish our drinks when our server asked us if we would give up our table and move to the bar. Excuse me? 45 minutes into my reservation with no more than 5-10 minutes left in which we would finish our drinks, and you want us to get up and move? Unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

Meh...the spot is cute, the servers are nice, and the vibe is delightful. The food, however, was a bit of a let down. The spring rolls were perfect, as was my partner's chicken fried rice, but the two other orders left a lot to be desired. The pork and shrimp wonton was overcooked and tough to chew. It seemed like someone just stuffed a pork meatball inside a handmade wonton wrapped and cooked the hell out of it. I only ate one. The wonton soup LOOKS nice, but it's very run-of-the-mill. The wonton wrapper was thick and bland, and the broth was a little bland too. I only had one wonton. I feel like I just ordered the wrong things, honestly. My partner's chicken fried rice was delicious, but he had a special order that compelled a fresh order, rather than sitting around like my dim sum seemed to. These days I've been committed to only giving out 5-star reviews when they're truly warranted -- Teak is a 5-star restaurant IMHO. A lot can be said about how a restaurant executes a "basic" staple item. Teak's spring rolls are ridiculously crispy and flakier than a Tinder date. +++++: 1) Love that Teak clearly labels all of their GF options. 2) Pad Thai was spiced with flavorful heat (and not just for heat's sake). 3) Parking is effortless, and only a stone's throw away under Washington Park. 4) Drinks were decent, but overshadowed by the food. What prime location for this gem of a place. Right next to Washington square park this might be one of the better thai places in the city. My basil fried rice was perfectly cooked. Very similar to the street fried rice I've had in Thailand. Veggies were delicious and the holy basil in the dish reminded me of my travels for sure. Not overwhelming or saucy like you might find at other places - truly allows for the perfectly fried rice to shine as it traditionally does. I got a spice level of 6 - made my nose run a tad bit but it was the perfect heat for me. My friend had the drunken noodles with fried tofu and she only had good things to say about it. If you're every strolling through OTR or want to grab a nice evening dinner after checking out Washington Square park, definitely recommend hitting this place up! read more

I enjoy my Thai curry pretty spicy, so asked to see if a level 10 spice actually meant spicy (and it really does mean spicy!!). I was told to try 7 to start off with, and our waitress brought out extra chile sauce without me even asking just in case I needed more spice. I would definitely stick with level 7 if you like spicy. My fiancé took me to Teak for my birthday, and it was my first time there - it was an awesome experience all around! Great drinks (I got the spiced Old Fashioned), great appetizer with the coconut fried shrimp, and I got sushi while my fiancé got the massaman curry, which was by FAR the star of the show, and definitely what I will get next time. I have had sushi from Teak twice now and can honestly say that it is one of the worst sushi spots I have ever been to. Do not order sushi from here, it's a total waste and it's just as expensive as going somewhere that is actually good. Additionally, I ordered Pad See Ew thinking it would be good, and I was wrong. The dish has zero flavor to it which is odd considering Pad See Ew typically is very flavorful. I would never eat here again. Even worse than just mid, it's all around awful. read more

Came here with an early dinner on a Sunday evening, around 530. Surprisingly they were pretty busy, between a Reds game and an FC Cincinnati game. The brick walls, plastic dividers for COVID, and small spaces meant it was LOUD, it was hard to have a conversation even without facemasks on. It took some time for a waitress to acknowledge our table, but by the time they did we were ready to order. Our two entrees and an appetizer. 25 minutes later our appetizer (spring rolls) arrived. Fortunately we weren't terribly hungry at 530, but by the time we got the food we were ready to dig in. The spring rolls were tasty, well filled, good crunch, super sweet sauce but no real surprise there. When the waitress brought the rolls I asked to add a ginger salad to my order. Then it was a good 15 minutes to our entrees, my roast duck, salad, and what was SUPPOSED to be the Thai Holy Basil chicken. Instead they sent some form of lemon ginger chicken, and we didn't notice it immediately. However, when we brought it to the waitress' attention she said they'd have it remade. Short wait later and a plate that looked exactly the same with a few pieces of basil over top and a much darker sauce was there. It seems like what came back was the previous dish, add basil and soy sauce. I won't lie, I was pretty annoyed. My partner wasn't, and just rocked with it. The initial dish was much better than what was returned, and my roast duck was FANTASTIC. Despite this mishap, and the delay, the waitress was extremely polite and attentive otherwise, keeping drinks full and checking in with us regularly. I got the highest spice level and I can confirm that it was definitely spicy. I ordered the food through DoorDash and found the process quick and easy. BUT, unfortunately, we had to experience a racist server saying racist things in Thai, not knowing a memebr of our group was a Thai native. Without them, we would have never known and continued giving them our money while being disrespected behind our backs. I can accept a single server being a rotten person and dont feel it should totally taint the entire establishment. BUT...the manager i spoke to when inquiring about what was going on immediately rejected what i had to say. Essentially said my group and friends were lying. And offered not even an "im sorry you had that experience, this is not the type of service we strive to provide". Nothing at all. (Strangely though, on a google review, the responder responded in a much more appropriate and acceptable manner. Honestly the response there was actually appreciated) Unfortunately, once someone has an interaction like this, it is very difficult to ever return because there is simply no trust. I dont want to have to keep a translator on hand when i eat there just to ensure im not being disparaged by the folks I'm paying.
