We came over here for dinner before our Shakespeare show, husband booked for 6pm, we arrived a little early and was seated immediately. The waitress who served us is an Indian girl, very pretty and friendly. Their menu is extensive, all the food we ordered seems to be very authentic Thai, not like American Thai, full of sugar and sweets. I had steamed mussels in Thai green curry, and husband had their dim sum and mushroom soup as appetizers. I had their hot sour sea food soup and husband had their chicken red curry, both are very good. This is a must visit restaurant! They have a large selection of dishes to choose from, so it really works for everyone! All of the employees were extremely nice, and the restaurant was beautiful. Nice atmosphere that's very child friendly. I particularly appreciated the large variety of GF (and potential to be made gf) foods on their menu...they also have a lot of vegetarian items for people. For an appetizer we order the calamari, which was very lightly breaded in a gf flour, and it was delicious! I ordered the green curry chicken, spicy level 4. And OMG was it delicious! I would absolutely order it again! I do feel like it was missing some of the listed veggies, which was disappointing l, but the flavors of everything in the dish were so good I didn't really mind....it was large enough to share with my husband. The hubs ordered two sushi rolls (which we shared)- the 1200 rice and thw OMG. Our favorite was the 1200 rice, very compliments ingredients and flavors. Visited on a Saturday at noon right when the restaurant opened - there was a line of patrons waiting for the doors to open so upon arriving I was excited to see the demand for the restaurant. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful as it was our first time visiting - we opted to try their Margarita and Mojito cocktails based on his recommendation. The Margarita is a definite recommendation! So fresh and tasty. The Mojito was just okay - not very flavorful. While we were waiting to order we were taking in the atmosphere - exposed brick, chandeliers, nice booths and tables - again we were excited for our meal! Based on Yelp reviews we opted for the Angry Dragon sushi roll as an appetizer - definitely recommend this - tons of flavor and a little spicy. For our main meals I opted for the Teak Trio (based on Yelp reviews) with a spice level 5 (out of 10) and my significant other the Chicken Fried Rice spice level 6. I really enjoyed my Teak Trio - tons of chicken, beef and pork as well as broccoli, peppers, carrots, tomatoes, pineapple, corn, etc. and came with rice on the side! The sauce was very flavorful - with a small kick of heat. The Chicken Fried Rice was kind of bland (even covered in red pepper flakes) and definitely was more rice vs. chicken. It was nice that my meal was so huge so we shared some of the meat and vegetables from my Teak Trio. But tonight the owner must've not liked the fact that we bring wine( and not cheap wine might I add). And the owner decided he wanted to charge us $50 on the bill because two people enjoyed the wine. It was mostly just the crispy breading with some spice! Not too bad. The sushi was great, it came on fire and was delicious. The wide, spicy noodles were not bad. I used to visit the Mt. Adams location maybe twice a year but since this location opened up in OTR, I've been twice in the past two months. Great decision on the location switch. The ambiance is almost lounge-y with wam lighting, wood tables (currently divided with plastic sheets to respect Covid social distancing recommendations), and Asian-themed decor. The staff is quick to attend to you; checking in to see if you are enjoying each stage of your meal and seating you as soon as you walk if unless there is a wait. Tonight (5:30 on a Saturday) I sat at the bar and the lovely, blonde bartender was so charming and paced my meal perfectly. The sushi rolls are soft and filled rather than just a bunch of rice around a tiny bit of fish. I got the dragon roll and some dim sum (pot stickers, gyoza, whatever you want to call them) and was satisfied with that. The only thing I would nitpick is that the yea is made in a French press which makes it become bitter since it sits in the water when ideally green tea should only be left a few minutes in hot water for optimum taste. We were not impressed with Teak. I was disappointed with the sweet pad Thai but the jungle noodles were good. The service was subpar. Our waitress was nice but she was very slow and kept forgetting everything we asked for. We kindly had to remind her 1-2 times. I asked for a side of spicy mayo and I was almost completely done with my meal once it arrived. They also charged $2 for a tiny side of spicy mayo with no warning of an up charge. Used to go to Teak at Mouht Adams when we first moved here. Excited to have them in OTR. Started with the hot and sour soup and was delicious. Just the right amount of lemon grass so it didn't over power the soup. Everything cooked just right and for carry out was still good and hot at hone. Main course was seafood delight. A seafood stir fry over rice. Everything cooked great. I made a mistake though. Usually get pretty hot on the restaurant scale and 8 out of 10 is my go to. 8 here though was Will have to dial it down some next time! Glad to see Teak's return. When they were in Mount Adams they were probably the first place I had ever tried sushi or Thai. On my most recent visit I enjoyed the Yellow Curry Chicken, Vegetable Thai Spicy, and the Chicken Lettuce Wrap. All were good, but the Lettuce Wrap was my favorite - lots of flavor. Quarters at this location are a bit tight as they've had to had in some barriers between tables. I'll probably stick with take out until things get a little more normal. read more

Everything I loved about the original from 20 years ago and so much more. My husband and I stopped in around 7 o'clock on a Friday night, hoping to grab a seat. They were booked solid and we were happy to see this kind of success - but got lucky to grab seats at the bar. Chanaka has worked his magic in this fresh take on the original. The food was really outstanding - reminiscent of why we fell in love with the original when we moved to Cincinnati. The service was terrific and everyone working here was so friendly. This place is packed on the weekends so if you're planning to dine here, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND a reservation or you'll be waiting til nearly close if you can even get in. Visited Teak Thai a couple of times at the OTR. Inspite of a game night we were lucky to get a immediate seating at the extended area. The place was super packed. They used to be located at Mt. Adams but now at OTR. I like the place because of a lively decor and quick service every time. Ordered Spring rolls, Fried Rice, Chicken Thai Spicy, Yellow Curry, Green Curry and Pad Thai. For those that may not know, Teak used to be in Mt Adams wayyy back in the day. I was so happy to see them re-open again. That's always my go to spot for the longest. Since they've been downtown, I've only picked up food to go once and sat inside once but was pretty happy with my selections each time. I'll start with cocktails. I tried their margarita once which was great and also tried their Teak tea or something similar to that name and that was my favorite drink that they have. They were both so well-made and so will balance. For food, recently I tried the lettuce wraps and the Teak trio. The lettuce wraps may have been the best I've ever had. They were so flavorful! I really also love the Teak Trio stir fry which came with pork belly, chicken and steak as the meat options; mixed with a ton of veggies and rice on the side. I would say the brown sauce was a little sweet but you can always increase the spice level to help with that. We came to Teak right after visiting a Yelp event at nearby Mon Petit Choux bakery. We got our baked goods, dropped them off in the car, and saved it for dessert. We were really surprised by how nice Teak was inside. There were a lot of nicely lacquered tables, a big bar with a beautiful wall, chandeliers from the ceiling, plants and statues. They face southwest and the windows were huge with lots of sunlight coming in and easily adjustable blinds. We got the sushi and the spicy fried noodles. The sushi was unremarkable to say the least. I got to choose the spiciness of the noodles and I chose the middle option and dang these noodles were one of the spiciest noodles I ever got. It was just painful to eat. It's not like they had red chili peppers that I could take out either, all of it was blended in as flakes so it was impossible to take out. I think the overall taste was pretty good, and it wasn't expensive at $9, but it came at the sacrifice of my taste buds. I was also disappointed that chicken was the only option. I personally like beef with my Thai style noodle dishes. I think this place is great for an affordable date. The atmosphere is great and the prices are cheap. I don't typically leave negative reviews, but it's warranted today. The waitress at Teak made an honest mistake and brought me vegetable fried rice instead of the fried rice without protein. For reference, the menu lists vegetable fried rice and fried rice as two separate entities. What appeared to be the owner or manager, as well as 2 other waitresses made a scene questioning what I ordered instead of simply correcting their error. The interrogation of something so simple created a negative experience. The primary waitress was very kind, apologetic, and understanding. The delivering waitress and manager/owner overshadowed her kindness with the profoundly rude way they responded. I'm not sure this would've happened to others, but I left feeling unappreciated and disrespected by the rude way the manager sat the correct order on the table and said "That look right?"...with a look of discontent on his face as if I miscommunicated or should not have brought the error to their attention. Great food, but rude without reason...and that made the experience unenjoyable and it took my appetite away. Be kind. Treat your customers with respect when respect is due. We all have difficult days, or have had past experiences that shape our opinions and behavior, but that's not an excuse for any of us to be unkind or rude, especially to those choosing to patronize your business. The curry wasn't as good as we expected it to be - had a very strong coconut taste and not the spicy flavor we were hoping for. Will have to try some other curry next time. Fantastic Thai food and great service! We haven't been to Teak in a few years and visited their new location in OTR last night. It has an attractive design and beautiful lighting. There's a view of Washington Park on one side of the building and a small amount of outdoor dining tables along the other side of the building. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer shortly after being seated. The bartender made a wonderful Manhattan. We ordered the Steamed Mussels appetizer. They were so delicious! The lemongrass was an awesome stand-out flavor in the sauce. We both decided on the Seafood Choo Chee curry. Their spice level offered was a 1-10. I chose a 3 and my husband chose a 10. The seafood curry was absolutely amazing! The seafood was tender and the flavor of the curry was outstanding. Perfectly balanced flavors and the spice levels were just right for us.
