Cute little shop right near Old Orchard Mall where you can get fruit freezes, flavored black tea, and coffee. We went with a lychee freeze and a mango black tea. Both tasted pretty good. Ehhhh.... it's alright. I was super excited when I saw this place pop up on yelp.. after all who can resist cute dinosaur pictures! Even their huge sign outside of the shop is so cute and so inviting! The location is great considering there aren't any bubble tea places in the area and if I went to the high school near the area, I would probably frequent this place. However, I wasn't a fan of the teas. I felt they were toooooo sweet and just ok. The menu is a little weird in my opinion because they have a blended ice option vs frappe option but the frappe is basically the blended option with whipped cream just on top? What's the point of that? Just have an option to add whipped cream for extra.. I dunno. They DO have a milk tea option as well though. I have gone twice now and have tried the Thai tea blended, Thai frappe and the Thai milk tea. ( Can you tell I love Thai tea? ) The blended and frappe were indeed the same except for the added whipped cream. All versions were just ok. I had asked for no tapioca and when I got it with tapioca I didn't think it was a big deal to let them know they made a mistake but for some reason they paused and a commotion ensued. On our way home from a late night at Nickel City, we were craving something sweet. Luckily TeaRex was open late. We both had our own drinks because who really share bubbletea... I just had a basic milk tea which I wasn't too impress about but my boyfriend got this floral like tea that he really likes. Parking is very spacious they have their own lot. What i really enjoy most was the decor. It was so cute and dinosaurs everywhere. They really carried the T-rex theme all around. It's a nice chill place to socialize and hang out. Decided to check it out since it was a trending business. Their logo and name is so catchy! Thought it was gonna be a cool place to try. Locations has a large parking lot so no worries about car parking, but I guess in that area, having a parking lot is given. Menu is on 2 large tv screens, one for bubble tea and one for milk tea. Been into milk tea late so tried out their original with tapioca. First off, their milk tea didn't taste authentic. There was something about the taste that didn't taste like typical milk tea. Perhaps it's because milk tea is green tea based and typically, milk tea is made with black tea. Secondly, I guess their milk tea must be super cold because the tapioca got super hard due to cold temperature of the drink. I've never experienced this in drinking milk tea (with bubble tea, yes, ice blended ones). I expecting this soft, yummy boba but instead, I needed to spit it out because it was not chewable! This bubble tea spot has the cutest decor! Everywhere you look you'll see an adorable "Tea-Rex" or two or fifty. Some are in costume and others are making silly expressions. Thoroughly enjoyed this cute little bubble tea spot! We drove about 40 minutes to come here because we like trying new boba places and it was definitely worth the trip. We all got pretty basic milk tea drinks but when the basics are good that's usually a tell tale sign that the place is good! The drinks definitely taste like tea and 50% sweetness is perfect - not too much or too little sweetness. If you don't prefer a strong tea taste I would probably opt for a smoothie. Their boba is also cooked very well - super supple, soft and chewy without being dense in the middle. The only negative I would say is that I didn't get a receipt after paying. I didn't ask for one so I'm not sure if it's an option to get one or not. Other than that happy to have found another great bubble tea spot! We will be back in the future. read more

Wow! Best service made to order drinks. Tasty drinks with a wide variety of flavors that are all good. Tapioca is soft and chewy. I usually get the Lychee jelly in my drinks instead of tapioca. The mango jelly is tasty too. They have quick service and are very helpful if you can't decide. They take credit cards unlike other places in Evanston that take only cash. Their large drinks are a better value. Also, the waffles are tasty and made fresh when you order. The parking lot is not small unlike others around the area. The place is clean, the décor is cute, adorable and inviting. The person behind the counter was extremely helpful and was very patient with answering all my questions. I got the large as it's a better value for your money. I didn't see strawberry milk tea on the menu and I hope they add it. But I will go back and try some other flavors. It's kind of hidden, because it sits back a little bit on Golf road, so you have to look for the sign. Once you find it, you'll be glad you did. I can't wait to go back and try the other flavors. They don't have fancy fruit toppings like Joy Yees but there is no need- the fruit flavors are refreshing enough. I love the way they utilized the small space- clean and simple decor with their mascot TeaRex wall decal. Upon entering the building you're hit with the smell of humid chlorine, kind of smells like an indoor pool. The place is decorated with cute pictures of t-Rex's and it's a cute place to take pictures. The drinks themselves were too sweet. We got strawberry milk teas with 2% milk and strawberry popping boba. The cashier at the desk was friendly and double checked to make sure she got out order right, which was appreciated. TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe may become my new go to bubble tea place. It is conveniently on both my and hubby's way home from work. Both the cafe and the parking lot are small but the interior is cozy. The first time I came on weekday night the place was packed full of high school kids. The milk teas are green tea based which I didn't notice until I ordered. The green milk tea is bitter (which I don't mind) and you can definitely taste the matcha. I have also tried the taro milk tea and plain/regular milk tea. Out of the three I have tried the milk tea is probably my favorite. Hubby tried an iced blended green tea and it had very little flavor so they kindly remade him a new one. Their teas are on the sweeter side but you can customize the amount of sugar you want. read more

Cafe: Minus one star for the fact that the only way to order is to walk up to a tiny window on the outside of the building and shout your order through and then stand outside in the wind and freezing winter cold to wait for a frozen drink. So stupid. Lobby could at the very least be open for carry-out orders. What a cute little cafe! I was among one of the many people that wanted to check this place out on a Saturday afternoon, seeing their parking lot was pretty filled. Other than Joyee in Evanston, I honestly do not know another place that sells bubble tea in the nearby area. So you betcha I came with high hopes for TeaRex. Their menu had a lot of choices for ice blended drinks. I noticed their milk tea is made of green tea, that I am not used to. I also noticed they do not offer custom sweetness, so be warned. We ordered a mango ice blended drink and a milk tea ice blended drink, both with tapioca. Overall, they are pretty good! Their drinks are not overly sweet. They are blended smoothly with no ice chunks. Tapiocas are cooked well, bouncy and chewy. The mango didn't quite taste like it was made with fresh fruit, didn't taste like powder either, best guess is juice of some sort. The milk tea had good tea flavor. In my opinion, no one can beat Joyee or Kungfu tea, but they are no where near Skokie. So naturally TeaRex will have my business the next time I am back in town. read more
