While they were open for dinner in the past, WB now only serves until 2:30pm, which is common for brunch places. Plan accordingly! My go to is the chipotle chicken crepes. I always opt for a savory brunch bite. The potato pancakes are thin and crisp and pair nicely with applesauce and smooth sour cream. A lovely addition is Dollop Coffee specialty drinks like tiramisu or chocolate orange cold brew and lavender vanilla lattes, all around $6.50. Kids' menu has plenty of breakfast and lunch options for young ones 10 and under. Hash browns or corned beef hash on the side are popular with my kids. Friendly waitstaff. We were in the area looking for a good brunch spot and stumbled upon this gem: Walker Bros. Original Pancake House The place has charming old-school diner vibes, with decor that feels straight out of the early '60-70s in the best way possible. Cozy, nostalgic, and super inviting. We were seated quickly, and our server took great care of us throughout the meal. We started with fresh orange juice and coffee, which was the perfect way to ease into brunch mode. I ordered a small stack of pancakes with spicy hash browns and bacon, while my husband kept it classic with scrambled eggs and toast. And wow...the food absolutely knocked it out of the park. The hash browns were insanely good. I never realized hash browns could pair so perfectly with pico de gallo, but now I'm convinced. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, and the bacon was thick-cut and cooked just right. This is definitely a spot we'd come back to. If Walker Brothers has something going for it, then it's the cuteness and charm of the interior - more on that later. Walking in, the setup is confusing. While there is an "in" and an "out" door, it seems that the host stand and cashier station are one and the same, resulting in a bunch of people queuing. Thankfully, one of the hosts/cashiers noticed, asked if I was waiting for a table, and I was promptly seated. It is perhaps a blessing that the menu lists calorie counts, for I would have ordered the Apple Cinnamon Pancake without a second thought. Only it is 1,880 calories, and that's before the ice cream upgrade that's still tempting me as I read their menu. I ordered the Blueberry instead. What I liked about these is that they weren't overly sweet, and had a hearty amount of blueberries within. I'd also like to recognize that biting into them, I didn't encounter a spray of blueberry-gut-lava that's burned me when I attempted blueberry pancakes at home. However, while not bad, I found them in no way remarkable. Neither the textures nor flavors were anything to write home about. Rather than a gently crisp exterior and fluffy interior, they were instead similar to something between custard and cake. In terms of the service: I thought it was friendly, polite, and once the order was placed, the food came out in no time. Otherwise, the service felt a little inattentive. For example, after I said I needed just a minute to decide, the server did not stop by in longer than expected. Also, towards the end of the meal, it didn't click that I was to pay the cashier rather than the waiter... a little "D'oh" on my part, but a reminder would have been appropriate and welcome. As for the vibe: there is so much wood, if you dumped the restaurant into the lake, it would float! Adding to the vibe are some lighting fixtures with stained glass, and others are decorative, but mismatched, if not outright missing. Staff wore uniforms reminiscent of those seen in old movies. Final verdict: While I appreciate what Walker Brothers is trying to do, and their prices are reasonable, I do not feel the experience was enjoyable enough to warrant a return visit. On Thanksgiving Day, we had a perfect brunch at Walker Brothers in Glenview, our all-time favorite breakfast restaurant, and a perfect dinner at another favorite restaurant of ours, that truly made our day thankful! Walker Brothers had special hours on Thanksgiving, from 8:00 am to noon. We arrived at 10:40 am, the line was pretty long, extending to the front door. This was expected, this was a great choice for breakfast or brunch for friends and families, especially on a holiday. There were about 6 tables ahead of us. Our wait was only 15 minutes. We were happy to be seated at a cozy but comfy booth in the middle of the dining room at 10:55 am. As soon as we got in, we already enjoyed the aroma of good coffee, butter, and delicious food! The vibe was warm, festive, and happy. As always, we were greeted by friendly staff. Maria, our server, was very friendly. She and her whole team were very efficient without rushing us. We were amazed that she constantly had a nice smile, and was attentive and pleasant the whole time, even though the restaurant was packed with families. We got one order of French Toast (my favorite), two orders of Strawberry crepes, one order of Farm-Style Sausages, and an order of Canadian Bacon. All three of us got coffee, that's always so good. The food and coffee came out quickly; everything was prepared to perfection. I dare to say that no one could beat their French Toast, something so simple but so delectable and satisfying. We absolutely adored the Walker Bros experience we had here. The parking was simple with a private lot out back, accessed from the main street. The spots are a little tight, so just be careful coming in and out, especially from the added foot traffic to and from the restaurant. We got in with no real line, just one party ahead of us and someone picking up a to-go order from the counter. We were seated in a large corner booth near the back, and our server came out immediately with menus. We ordered a small Dutch baby, waffles with strawberries and cream, as well as a classic eggs benedict with a side of buttermilk pancakes. The food came out hot and fresh in a few minutes! They had coffee and toppings out first while we waited. In terms of taste, the namesake was of course the best. The pancakes were so fluffy, light, and decadent with just a touch of syrup and butter. I can't wait to go back for a full order of them! The waflle was huge and came with ample whipped cream, strawberry syrup, and sliced strawberries. We could barely finish it. The Dutch baby, albeit a small, was still a hefty menu item that was rich, eggy, and steaming hot as it hit the table. We thoroughly enjoyed loading it up with lemon juice, fruit, and syrup. New day - different city! Quick Chicago breakfast. Knew I wanted to try a Walker establishment. Picked this location, for its exterior old-style look and easy access. The building has that old European style farmhouse look. It has pillars up front. Half of the tables were taken. Service was excellent: coffee on the table in a minute, the eggs, bacon, pancakes were all just delicious. These Chicago pancakes are a bit darker on the top side, compared to like Aunt Jemima - but they taste 'rustic': almost woodsy, a bit. I added chocolate chips to mine and I highly suggest you do to: they were awesomely and eatably delicious. They also offer other add ons like coconut flakes, sprinkles etc. Coffee was strong. This particular walker brothers location on Waukegan in Glenview again not sure how I've never done a review on this place however I've been coming here for more than 30+ years since I was a kid. This place has been solid staple and is definitely an established institution, not only in the neighborhood, but also obviously, but its name and other locations throughout the suburbs. I continue to come back here because it's consistent. It keeps all the best sellers and traditional items on the menu and service and food are definitely quick. Obviously prices have gone up over the years, which I understand however, it is a little disappointed that I've seen some of the portions get smaller as well. This is definitely a must go breakfast place if you've never been or never heard of it and it is solid. read more

We saw mostly locals whom I had an impression did not go out to eat at any other restaurants. It is EXTREMLY dated in décor and food selection. Dark, dank, and customers dogs inside at the tables. Did not give me the impression that the inside was hygienic. I really felt as if they needed to close the location down for a week to clean all the surfaces in the restaurant. It would lighten the place up. New furniture would be great also. The menu could also use an overhaul with new selections to meet the changes in peoples tastes over the last decade. I don't know how much longer they can operate in their "don't change anything in the restaurant since the 1980's" and charging the customer more money for the same 1980's meals. Honestly, we go to Walker Bros since it's the only decent breakfast place around the area; other 'chains' and 'local places' are your typical run-of-the-mill, not-so-tasty spots and totally just not worth it. The food here is pretty solid, but the service is what makes this place lose a good number of points - you're hardly ever checked in on, it takes a while to place your order, you'll have difficulty in getting coffee refills, and it's hard to locate your server to get the check. We've enjoyed the Apple Cinnamon Pancake and the chicken sausages (that are coated with maple). Note that each Walker Bros locations have slightly different menus and offerings. We walked in and the entranceway was packed. I immediately thought, we need to go somewhere else, but the line moved pretty quickly and I was extremely impressed with how fast they sat us down! Came here on Black Friday to meet with some family that were in from out of town. They were very accommodating for our larger group of 11 and the wait was not bad for this size restaurant. It was a little tight waiting in between the 2 front doors. We fit our large group in there but it was elbow to elbow so make sure you like the people you are eating breakfast with lol. The waitstaff were very friendly and service was fast. They were busy but that didn't matter! My omelette was really good - it tasted different and the consistency was different from any other omelette I had. But in a good way. The ingredients were really fresh and not oily at all. My hubby got the French toast and he beamed that it was the best French toast he has ever had. So I had to have a taste! It was really good! Our table was a corner booth so it was a little awkward but we made it work. A two top got in with no wait so this is a better place for smaller groups unless you go midweek. Service was exceptional. We all had semi complicated orders of asking for additions (nuts or fruit) and requesting no cream or butter etc. My sister wanted her coffee to arrive with the meal not before. I figured everything would get confused but the waiter did an excellent job of not only staying positive in all his interactions with us and accommodating all our requests, but also with getting everything spot on perfectly correct. I got the ham and cheese omelette with English muffin and for the price I expected hash browns. But this meal combo doesn't come with hash browns and I had to order it after my meal arrived. Shame on me for not looking thoroughly. The food is always good. The omelette is light and fluffy for a folded omelette. The ham was directly off the bone and even the ham itself was seasoned well. When the hash browns arrived, the were cooked perfectly and the sweet onion made it shine. The only issue I have is the price. For the amount paid for the omelette, I would expect some potato side. Could not have been made to feel less welcome. It was bitterly cold. An elderly gentleman with a cane was precariously holding open the inner door and balancing food. This blocked the door we should use to enter. It also meant the sign saying "Exit Only" was not visible. A woman with him kept yelling at US to use the entrance that the person she was with was blocking. The staff was yelling at US to not hold the door, even though the exiting patrons were the ones doing it. Embarrassing, confusing, and outside of our control. When an exiting patron is holding open the door that blocks the entrance, staff yelling at us is not helpful. If we weren't short on time we would've left and eaten elsewhere. read more

Walker Bros is a breakfast classic for a reason! I went for brunch and the line to get into the restaurant was worth the wait. The pancakes were the real stars of the show. They were perfectly fluffy and topped with a mountain of delicious whipped butter and served with a side of syrup. These were some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. My breakfast also came with eggs and thick cut bacon. The bacon was delicious, but the eggs were just okay. They're supposed to be cooked to order, but my over medium eggs were way overcooked with no runny yolk. The water also had a super gross after taste. Service was just okay. Our server seemed to be juggling too many tables, so if we didn't flag her down, she wouldn't stop at the table. The food came out very quickly though and was served hot. Great food at Walker Bros as expected. Still I prefer the Wilmette branch over this Glenview branch for the atmosphere and nostalgia. Our table near the kitchen, restrooms, and busy walkway to both was not pleasant and required me and my guest to sit on the same side of the table to avoid the busy walkway with the foot traffic of servers rushing back and forth with plates of food and customers going to the restrooms. Come early as the restaurant was already very busy and had very limited parking before 10 AM on a Saturday. I will opt for another Walker Bros branch the next time. read more

I came here w/my sister after we completed our morning hike of 6.2 miles starting @ Blue Star Memorial Woods in Wilmette, IL & walking up the North Branch Trail to the south end of the Skokie Lagoon & back. By the time we were finished we were famished & ready to eat. They had a number of tables outside around the perimeter but they were all occupied so we dined inside. My sister always gets eggs Benedict w/extra hollandaise sauce. As much of a foodie as she is I'm kind of surprised that she always gets the same thing (I guess when you find something that you like why change?). Since I can't remember ever getting eggs Benedict before I thought I would give it them a try. While I thought they were pretty good I didn't see it as the best all eat all that I would get them every time. The eggs Benedict came w/a egg (over cooked, no gooey runny yolk) over Canadian bacon on a toasted English muffin w/extra hollandaise sauce. I also got a small fruit bowl in lieu of potatoes. Iconic North Shore breakfast spot. While I am usually a fan of the eggs and the omelettes... Especially with the outstanding bacon... a visit would not be complete without at least one person trying to Dutch pancake or Dutch baby. Most other dishes are served with a side of pancakes with a huge dollop of butter and simple syrup. Service is typically outstanding, all of which is why it is a favorite spot up here.
