    Maple and Blueberry Compote

If Walker Brothers has something going for it, then it's the cuteness and charm of the interior - more on that later. Walking in, the setup is confusing. While there is an "in" and an "out" door, it seems that the host stand and cashier station are one and the same, resulting in a bunch of people queuing. Thankfully, one of the hosts/cashiers noticed, asked if I was waiting for a table, and I was promptly seated. It is perhaps a blessing that the menu lists calorie counts, for I would have ordered the Apple Cinnamon Pancake without a second thought. Only it is 1,880 calories, and that's before the ice cream upgrade that's still tempting me as I read their menu. I ordered the Blueberry instead. What I liked about these is that they weren't overly sweet, and had a hearty amount of blueberries within. I'd also like to recognize that biting into them, I didn't encounter a spray of blueberry-gut-lava that's burned me when I attempted blueberry pancakes at home. However, while not bad, I found them in no way remarkable. Neither the textures nor flavors were anything to write home about. Rather than a gently crisp exterior and fluffy interior, they were instead similar to something between custard and cake. In terms of the service: I thought it was friendly, polite, and once the order was placed, the food came out in no time. Otherwise, the service felt a little inattentive. For example, after I said I needed just a minute to decide, the server did not stop by in longer than expected. Also, towards the end of the meal, it didn't click that I was to pay the cashier rather than the waiter... a little "D'oh" on my part, but a reminder would have been appropriate and welcome. As for the vibe: there is so much wood, if you dumped the restaurant into the lake, it would float! Adding to the vibe are some lighting fixtures with stained glass, and others are decorative, but mismatched, if not outright missing. Staff wore uniforms reminiscent of those seen in old movies. Final verdict: While I appreciate what Walker Brothers is trying to do, and their prices are reasonable, I do not feel the experience was enjoyable enough to warrant a return visit. Okay pancakes, and service that could use some polish are not enough, especially with many fantastic breakfast spots in Chicagoland.

On Thanksgiving Day, we had a perfect brunch at Walker Brothers in Glenview, our all-time favorite breakfast restaurant, and a perfect dinner at another favorite restaurant of ours, that truly made our day thankful! Walker Brothers had special hours on Thanksgiving, from 8:00 am to noon. We arrived at 10:40 am, the line was pretty long, extending to the front door. This was expected, this was a great choice for breakfast or brunch for friends and families, especially on a holiday. There were about 6 tables ahead of us. Our wait was only 15 minutes. We were happy to be seated at a cozy but comfy booth in the middle of the dining room at 10:55 am. As soon as we got in, we already enjoyed the aroma of good coffee, butter, and delicious food! The vibe was warm, festive, and happy. As always, we were greeted by friendly staff. Maria, our server, was very friendly. She and her whole team were very efficient without rushing us. We were amazed that she constantly had a nice smile, and was attentive and pleasant the whole time, even though the restaurant was packed with families. We got one order of French Toast (my favorite), two orders of Strawberry crepes, one order of Farm-Style Sausages, and an order of Canadian Bacon. All three of us got coffee, that's always so good. The food and coffee came out quickly; everything was prepared to perfection. I dare to say that no one could beat their French Toast, something so simple but so delectable and satisfying. The portions were generous, we were happy to have leftovers. We are thankful that this Walker Brothers is doing so well and is close by. We will never get tired dining in there!

My absolute fave brunch spot ever and I'm not even a breakfast person Savory over sweet always, but they seriously kill it at both. You need the spicy habanero cheese + pico hash browns (extra crispy!!) and the crispy crunch French toast I also always get the bagel w/ cream cheese, I know it's basic, but the whipped cream cheese just hits The service here is also so great and it's always packed so some with extra time but worth the wait!

The best place for breakfast! First the vintage decor is always so nice and unique. There are other locations in other cities but the Walker Bros chain is special. The food is always hearty and tasty, and the heavy cream and whipped butter are sinfully good. The best part is the service because they are professional and know how to serve people. Coming from Toronto, we always hit up a Walkers Bro when we are in town!

We love this place for breakfast! We happen to be here for their special deal of the month, 25% off their Apple Cinnamon Pancake, it was huge, so I shared it with my girlfriend! I think it's a little too sweet for me this time!

Chocolate chippie pancakes! GET THOSE ASAP!! They have tons of brunch options but the chocolate chippies are the star of the show. You can get either a half or full order. Wait times are long with a line by the door but it moves fast. Plenty of parking. The ambiance is also very lively!

New day - different city! Quick Chicago breakfast. Knew I wanted to try a Walker establishment. Picked this location, for its exterior old-style look and easy access. The building has that old European style farmhouse look. It has pillars up front. Half of the tables were taken. Service was excellent: coffee on the table in a minute, the eggs, bacon, pancakes were all just delicious. These Chicago pancakes are a bit darker on the top side, compared to like Aunt Jemima - but they taste 'rustic': almost woodsy, a bit. I added chocolate chips to mine and I highly suggest you do to: they were awesomely and eatably delicious. They also offer other add ons like coconut flakes, sprinkles etc. Coffee was strong. Great, fast and chatty staff. Smooth pancakes, served real HOT. I thought the ambience was in need of a tiny upgrade: vacuum the carpets, clean windows and some new cutlery. My fork was scratched bare and knives barely cut. Comfort food with friendly service. Good breakfast! Review: 5

If you're looking for a brunch place that is focused on the classics - eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, coffee - this is your spot. The habanero hashbrowns are one of my fave breakfast dishes period and the pancakes are tasty. There will prob be a wait if you go on the weekend but that's to be expected.

Honestly, we go to Walker Bros since it's the only decent breakfast place around the area; other 'chains' and 'local places' are your typical run-of-the-mill, not-so-tasty spots and totally just not worth it. The food here is pretty solid, but the service is what makes this place lose a good number of points - you're hardly ever checked in on, it takes a while to place your order, you'll have difficulty in getting coffee refills, and it's hard to locate your server to get the check. We've enjoyed the Apple Cinnamon Pancake and the chicken sausages (that are coated with maple). Note that each Walker Bros locations have slightly different menus and offerings. Plenty of parking in the rear, but this place does get packed and super busy! +poor service +Apple Cinnamon Pancakes +chicken sausages +parking available in the rear

Came here on Black Friday to meet with some family that were in from out of town. They were very accommodating for our larger group of 11 and the wait was not bad for this size restaurant. It was a little tight waiting in between the 2 front doors. We fit our large group in there but it was elbow to elbow so make sure you like the people you are eating breakfast with lol. The waitstaff were very friendly and service was fast. They were busy but that didn't matter! My omelette was really good - it tasted different and the consistency was different from any other omelette I had. But in a good way. The ingredients were really fresh and not oily at all. My hubby got the French toast and he beamed that it was the best French toast he has ever had. So I had to have a taste! It was really good! The bread was encrusted in corn flakes so it had a nice crust to it. Tasted wonderful!!! Nice place for breakfast/brunch. I would come here again.

Imperial oatmeal. Comes with sugar and fruit. I asked for pecans in addition. Side of pancakes in the background.

Food includes all the typical breakfast classics as well as some nice variations. Quality is good - better than a typical greasy spoon diner, especially their pancakes. All items have dairy or eggs or meat and all items are breakfasty. I had the oatmeal with fruit and asked for nuts on the side. It was good and I was impressed with amount of toppings they provided. My niece had the chocolate chip pancakes which came with mounds of whipped cream which she devoured. Everyone liked their meals. Took about 30 mins to be seated at 1p on a Sunday because we were a table of 5 and most seating are booths and can't accommodate that many. The waiting area is small but we were the only ones waiting so it was fine and there was even a bench for my mom and niece who were both using walkers and needed to sit. Our table was a corner booth so it was a little awkward but we made it work. A two top got in with no wait so this is a better place for smaller groups unless you go midweek. Service was exceptional. We all had semi complicated orders of asking for additions (nuts or fruit) and requesting no cream or butter etc. My sister wanted her coffee to arrive with the meal not before. I figured everything would get confused but the waiter did an excellent job of not only staying positive in all his interactions with us and accommodating all our requests, but also with getting everything spot on perfectly correct. The decor is cozy with hard wood, lots of little nooks, and Tiffany lamps. It's an unusual ambiance which makes it a special treat to go there.

We walked in and the entranceway was packed. I immediately thought, we need to go somewhere else, but the line moved pretty quickly and I was extremely impressed with how fast they sat us down! Food was delicious and served in a timely manner. I really enjoyed my veggie omelet. The eggs were so fluffy, a great amount of cheese, and the vegetables were fresh. The kids had chocolate crepes and French toast, and both cleaned off their plates. My sister had the potato pancakes and my mom had the crepes with strawberries. Everyone enjoyed their meal, we will definitely return!

Today, I visited for the very first time to try one of their vegan options. I arrived around 7:15 on a Thursday morning, and it wasn't busy at all. My friend and I were able to choose a cozy booth by the window. (By the time we left at 9:00, quite a few booths were filled!) The service was great, and our food came out quickly! The vegan waffle was generously sized and made fresh in the kitchen. It had the perfect texture--a little crispy on the outside, yet warm and chewy on the inside. There was just a hint of sweetness, so I hardly needed any maple syrup. The decor is very cool--I absolutely love the color scheme! Even the restroom was charming. When I walked in, I noticed a sign on the wall that said, "Hello Beautiful." Although it's a small detail, I also appreciated that the trash bin was placed directly beneath the paper towel dispenser and right next to the door. It's those thoughtful little touches that make a difference. I can't wait to come back and try more of their vegan options!

I had expected more pancake options on the menu since it is a pancake cafe but there are ~4 options available (aside from the standard buttermilk and gluten free ones). I had the California omelet (avocado, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepper jack cheese) with hashbrowns and pancakes. I upgraded to the berry pancakes (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries) for an upcharge. My child had the pancakes from the kid's menu which came with two small pancakes and a meat of her choice (she chose bacon). Food took some time to come out and we had to ask for water. My omelet was decent but the hashbrowns were overcooked and dry. The berry pancakes were just okay. There was fresh fruit on top but I didn't care for the berry drizzle on top of the pancakes as it tasted artificial. The kid's meal was very plain (I don't know what I expected) and I should have shared my meal with my child since she ended up eating all the berries off my pancakes anyway.

WOW! To make a long story short, we got seated, our drinks, and orders taken, and after 15 minutes, our food was hot and piping and fresh. And it was tasty - my steak quesadillas and my mom got a house Cobb salad. Both were tasty and looked great. Our server Miriam was awesome with our orders, she came by to check on us and not too many times, and was there to help us with leftovers and leaving stuff. She struck a nice balance of not being there vs being here too often, so that's Ace's in my book. Since it was Mother's Day, it's crowded and a bit loud but not too loud where it was too obnoxious, except for a few people who had no manners at all on dress, but that's another topic I won't go to, for now. Tables, plates and silverware were clean, and one can still get around, even with one table behind us with a handicapped person, it didn't crowd up much at all - it was all very reasonably spacious. Definitely will come back here, though I do miss that older lady who was our server the last time before today, who was very nice - had a bit of an attitude to her personality but not too much to make it tasteless, some sass makes for an interesting day. My dad had an office and n Glenview when I was younger and this place was there and he had never heard of it. I guess if you were local or took the Metra, then you knew. I made a reservation as there were twelve of us coming in. We arrive for our monthly Burger Club with high hopes. It's a cute place. They have a nice outdoor deck area and the inside has a nice wooden bar with tables around it with two or three additional rooms of seating, too. We asked for separate checks, and our server told us it was no problem (it was). They have a lot of burgers to choose from so we thought that this would be a great place to go. I'll say this, our server was wonderful. Super nice, really friendly, always refilling drinks. Just a wonderful experience with her. And that's where it ends. My burger came our perfectly prepared (they ask what temperature you want and I wanted medium rare). The patties are insanely thin and toppings, while fresh, are overly abundant. Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, etc. the burger had no flavor. No salt or pepper to season it or anything. And mine was the best of the group. Others received burgers that were overcooked, had the wrong buns, came with caramelized onions, but were raw -were sent back and came back raw again - and the sides were underwhelming. I don't like ketchup, so I asked for ranch and it was thick and had a funky flavor to it. Then bills came and they were all wrong. She had mixed up every bill. Thankfully most burgers cost the same, but drinks and some side upgrades don't. We will never go back here. I have no idea how they stay in business.

And it was nothing short of superb in all facets. My son ordered the Southwest Avocado Burger, which an earlier review this year praised. He agreed. He loved it. His mom had the Chicken Philly. Equally good. Both had large portions. I had the Russian Reuben. It was like 3X the size of a traditional Reuben sandwich one might get dining out. I was barely able to eat a third. It was huge beyond huge. It was spectcular. I wasn't sure corned beef would blend so well with turkey but both meats did. Sumptuous! The Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Russian horseradish sauce and 1000 Island dressing on top - OMG - it was so unbelievable! $2.00 more - you get your fries and soup (choice of 6 - wow - what eatery has 6 soup options)? The onion soup was $1 extra but who cares? It was all a ton for the buck. The basket of tasty dinner rolls upon arrival was delightful. Our waitress Terry was excellent thru and thru and worthy of a large tip, which we obliged. We got free refills on our drinks too, a big thing for us. We were all totally pleased with our visit and will be sure to return at least once or twice before moving out of state later this year. We wish we could clone this place and take it to where we all are moving. I truly don't understand those whining here and their posts. Everything we had was good throughout. If I had to nitpick, I would say the French onion soup itself was average and not rich but the large crouton in the soup and abundant melted yummy Swiss cheese well compensated with the grated topping over the cheese incredibly tasty, making it over the top. The raspberry iced tea could have been a bit sweeter but it wasn't bad either. And you automatically get water delivered to your table, a rarity among diners today. And yeah, I get to a degree the 3% (rounded off) card charge but when you're spending $80 to $100 for gargantuan portions of great food, come on, who really cares about an extra $2.50-$3, chump change? A church friend of the family told me she and her husband go to Omega periodically and recommended it. So this evening we all went. And not one bit disappointed. 24/7/365 diners are a dying breed these days but we are so glad Omega is still around and I say long live the Omega. A shout out to the crews working here as well as the owner.
