I was pleasantly surprised to find a Teaspoon location in Visalia! I'm from the Bay Area, so I'm very familiar with Teaspoon, but it's honestly been a while since I've had it. It was such a nice little surprise to see one here. I was debating between the Vietnamese coffee and the Creamy Jasmine drink, but since this was just a small evening treat, I didn't want something as strong as Vietnamese coffee. I ended up ordering the Jasmine milk tea. I made the mistake of choosing regular ice and regular sweetness. After my first sip, I was surprised at how sweet it was -- I don't remember Teaspoon drinks being quite this sweet before. If I could redo my order, I would definitely go with 25% sweetness. I actually ended up diluting my drink with a bit of water to balance it out. That said, the boba itself was great -- perfectly chewy and fresh. The shop was also very clean, nicely laid out, and had plenty of tables to sit and relax. There was also plenty of parking outside, which is always a plus. This place was a favorite of mine until the service turned to absolute crap today. I paid a hefty fee to have my order delivered & that's understandable. But I purchased 2 extra orders of biscuits & didn't even receive the complementary ones. I called the restaurant & gave them a chance to remedy the fact that they stole my money on food I didn't get. They told me to come in. Wtf?!? I paid $8 to have this delivered & I paid for extra. Also, I was transferred to the person who prepped my order & dude said he didn't know I ordered the extra biscuits. I'm not in the business of giving my money away. Don't go here. This spot wasn't busy, but wasn't very welcoming either. No greeting or anything when you walk in or when you're at the register to order. Almost feels like your disturbing them. Hours are a little confusing; hours on the door doesn't match hours online. inside is very nice and pleasing . plenty of seats to hangout at while sipping your teaspoon beverage. After waiting in that long line at Marshall's, I came out pretty hot & thirsty. I saw their storefront sign walking towards my car & decides to check it out. it's a beverage shop specializing in teas & boba concoctions. So many colorful options. I chose a lemonade with a splash of mango. Staff were friendly & helpful since it was my first time here. While he made my drink, I took the opportunity to take some pics of this adorable tea shop. It was midafternoon & two customers were there chopping it up. Casual vibe. Final product: tasty but sweet. Sweeter than I expected. It lasted until I got to Cameron Rd. This place used to be one of my favorite places but the service has gone downhill. No greetings. Walked to the counter to order while team member was standing there was told to order at kiosk. During another recent experience my tea was made incorrectly when I told the girl behind the counter she was very rude and poured the same tea into a different cup with a little bit of added other tea thinking we didn't see her. Their jasmine tea is good but otherwise everything else is middling. Service is always quick and friendly. They're especially good for party pours and the quality retains quite well. However, the fruit teas are overly sweet despite me adjusting the sugar level. The milk teas seem to allow the tea to shine more. The boba isn't exceptional but I appreciate the variety in other options. Personally the passionfruit dolphin jelly is an underrated addition. Options are lactose free friendly. *Creamy Jasmine: my favorite drink from teaspoon. Simplistic but the tea is steeped well. It does suffer from being on the sweeter end so I always opt for 25% sweetness. This is also available in party pour form and my guests enjoyed the transportable taste. *Liquid Gold: had a strange aftertaste. Tasted rather watered down and the cream layer did nothing for the flavor or consistency. *Matcha Royale Strawberry: the strawberry puree is the best part. The matcha is not very rich and the milk further weakens its flavor. *Guava Sunset: extremely sweet. The guava flavor wasn't very prominent and leaned more towards the pineapple. The splash of lemon juice could have added some tartness and acidity but it wasn't noticeable. The marmalade needed less sugar so the fruit could shine. The fruit options are too sweet and that takes away from the tea. The tea should be brewed stronger so then it can handle the other additive flavors. Hence their simple options tend to be better. It was the early afternoon and no one else was in the store. It was very nicely decorated and felt welcoming... somehow not as unfriendly as the vibe that some boba shops give. We absolutely love their honey boba, and my family and I come here often because the drinks and service have always been amazing--until this most recent visit. Sadly, this time was different. My daughter went up to order and politely asked what toppings were available, only because sometimes certain toppings are out. Instead of being told, she was met with "you can go check," which came off dismissive. In the past, we've also always entered our phone number for rewards points, but when she asked, she was told, "we don't do that here." That may be something new, which is fine--but the tone and delivery were very unappealing. This experience was unfortunate, especially because we normally see the regular staff who are consistently friendly, welcoming, and amazing. We truly love this place and will continue to come back, but today's service from Vianey really missed the mark and did not reflect the great experiences we've had here in the past. Got the Taro Lover and the Flamingo. The taro milk was okay, but looooved the taro chunks! There aren't many places that have fresh taro around here, so I'm glad it was delicious. Their thai tea is solid, you can tell it's made with actual tea and not the powdered powder that a lot of milk tea shops are trying to pass off as milk tea. They had samples at the register and got to try the taro with taro chunks (So good) They do not offer blended taro or any other blended drinks other than what's already on the menu as smoothie drinks. I've always been a fan of Teaspoon. I was very impressed when I had it out of town and have always wanted one here in the valley. And finally, they open in Visalia! I like Teaspoon for its refreshing taste and great combinations. While some places just taste like black/green tea + flavors (which I get that's what it is), the drinks at teaspoon really taste infused. It's nicely mixed together and it becomes a whole refresher all on its own. It doesn't taste dull. It's very crisp. It hits the spot. Another awesome thing one always worries about is if the service and quality is still going to be consistent when a chain from out of town finally opens in town. I'd say I was impressed with the soft opening in that yes, it tasted consistent and the service was quick and friendly. So I think they have a formula that works and I really hope they last in Visalia. I'm a big tea drinker and like I said, I've always recommended Teaspoon to any of my friends. The location is not as easily spotted as other tea shops in the area but I highly recommend a visit! I usually get my boba in the San Gabriel valley. Was craving for boba while on the 99 fwy. Yelped this place. I didn't expect much from this unfamiliar city. To my surprise, boba was soft and chewy. I got the jasmine green tea with 75% sweetness. The level of sweet was good enough. I can't imagine how sweet it would be if it was 100%. I would have preferred if the tea flavor was a bit stronger. The other drink I got was guava. I forgot to take picture. Seems like it had small bits of guava in the drink. It was a little sour probably of the splash of lemon(indicated in the drink description). If you got sweet tooth, you might not like it that much. Shop look clean and cute interior decor. Ordered two drinks -Carmel Cream w/ Oreo -Silky Mango +Macaroons ( Vanilla,Chocolate, Rose Lychee Macaron ). The boba is DELICIOUS! Will definitely come again to another drink; as for the macaroons I liked the vanilla & chocolate. I wish the vanilla had a bit more cream. Another very decent boba place in Visalia which is super exciting to see! The drink menu is very similar to other Teaspoon chains. However, they do not have certain toppings like Almond Jelly and Mango Stars, so make sure you ask what toppings they have available. Drinks were standard to other Teaspoons I have been to. The milk teas could have been stronger. The Liquid Gold (which is a creamy oolong milk tea) did not taste as strong as I'd like it. The Flamingo was refreshing and perfect for the summer. I always get my drinks half sugar which is perfect for people who don't like their drinks too sweet. The service was good. The store itself is very clean and new and has a good atmosphere. I ordered the matcha one and total regret towards the 10th sip. The first few sips were tasty but after the taste ended up changing. I couldn't finish it so my daughter ended up drinking it. Like what???????? Even if it had ice...this is absolutely insane and unacceptable. I hope the owner/manager sees this and works on consistency at this location. Like how are you even training your employees? This was just the last straw for me to write this review. This location has never been consistent after their initial opening. The flavors, sugar levels, taste, tea quality, volume, have all fluctuated on a weekly basis. This is sad because we used to recommend this place to all our friends but it's not consistent enough for them to enjoy and they came back to us with negative reviews. None of the other boba places around here are this inconsistent and some are even larger international chains.
