WHIT'S HAS LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER Over the last couple years…read moreI've taken both my Ford truck and my Honda CRV to Whit's and until now, didn't have any problems. When I went to sell the CRV in May of this year ('26) a prospective buyer took it to a local Honda dealership for pre-sale inspection. The buyer came back to me saying it needed extensive work, including the rear rotors and brake pads. Not having had good results at dealer's shops in the past, we took it to another mechanic (more conveniently located in Boise). That mechanic said most of the work that the dealer said needed to be done did not need to be done, but that the rear rotors and brakes did, in fact, need to be done. I had already secured a new buyer in Oregon and was under a time constraint to complete the purchase, so I had the Boise shop do the work. Two days after the car was fixed, I completed the sale of my CRV to the customer. Later, when looking at our paperwork file for the CRV, I realized that I paid Whit's $232.00 to do the rear rotors and brakes just recently in September of 2025; it had only been 5,000 miles since they purportedly did that work. And yet, both the Honda dealer and a separate mechanic each said that the rear rotors and brakes needed to be done. Because the sale of the CRV happened quickly, we did not have the opportunity to take the car back to Whit's before I paid the Boise mechanic to do this work. Hoping they would address the overcharge, I stopped by Whit's and asked them what they could do to make this right. Their repeated answer was, "without seeing the car, nothing." When I told them that two separate auto shops agreed separately that the rear brakes needed to be re-done Whit's still refused to address the situation. When I suggested that one simple way to redress their oversight was to offer me a free oil change as a token they still refused. (An oil change would be about half the cost of rear brakes and rotors, to me, but it would have represented some ownership of their failure and would have been a gesture of good will.) Then, on the computer, Whit's checked their records. It wasn't one of their two less capable mechanics who had done my CRV's rear brakes six months ago, it was their "best" mechanic. But the testimony of two separate auto shops makes clear that Whit's either didn't do the work at all or did such a bad job of it that it had to be redone 5,000 miles later. And that was from their "best" mechanic. An hour after I got back home Whit's phoned me. They wanted to see the receipt from the Boise mechanic's shop, to verify that the rear brakes & rotors had been done. I e-mailed that receipt to them. Yes, Whit's saw, the Boise shop did the brake work. Still? Whit's said that since they didn't actually see the CRV they would not do anything to redress their mistake. If you were charged for work that needed to be done just six months later what would you think? Would you return and do business with a company that refused to address their (at best) oversight?

Since my last visit in May, more issues surfaced -- like the Matryoshka doll of mechanical problems; fix one thing, and boom, another pops up. It's honestly a miracle I didn't break down (or blow up!) on the way from California 4 months ago. But thankfully, she waited to fall apart until we got to the Treasure Valley and into the right hands: Chris (SERIOUSLY knowledgable & a wizard with parts and pricing) and Jason (the Master Technician Magician with a sharp eye and zero B.S.). The result? My car is now running better than it ever has: Starts on the first crank No more engine stench Insanely good gas mileage No more holding my breath & praying when I turn the key My last shop in San Diego missed a lot. These guys? Caught everything -- including some jerry-rigged nonsense from the previous owner. Old cars are tricky- sourcing parts, chasing weird issues; they tracked down hard-to-find parts, explained everything clearly, and yet again, came in under the estimate! It wasn't just a repair; it felt like real restoration. Yeah, she still needs a few things (old cars stay humble), but for the first time in a long time, I drive with confidence & CALM. I ask a ton of questions and pay close attention to how I'm treated--and every time I walk into this shop, I'm met with professionalism, honesty, and real respect. It's rare, and it's why I'll keep coming back. Thanks again, Chris, Jason, Noe and the crew. You've got my trust, my sincere gratitude -- and my referrals. :)

My sons car started to smoke and then eventually came to a complete halt by the Hilton Garden Inn in Eagle. Fortunately, my brother has AAA and through AAA they contacted Country Repair and 24 Hr Towing. Dispatch and the driver were always in contact with my brother and thr massive flat bed tow truck arrived. The driver was completely friendly and super helpful. The tow truck driver delivered my sons car to our home in meridian where my sons car stayed parked for three months. During this time, my son desperately tried to get it fixed but could not. He ended up getting a job and saving this money. We already contacted another repair place that did not absolutely nothing - that's another review for another time but we had such a good experience with the towing company that we least contact them again to another repair shop. The twist in all of this was remembering the name of the towing company several months back. After some high level detective work, we figured it out it was Country Repair and Towing. We called and spoke with very kind man, Rollen perhaps, he was so patient as I tried to explain the issue with my sons car with my caveman car intelligence. I spoke with dispatch to schedule the towing from our home to Country Repair and they provided a quote and a discount if the repair was done with Country Repair. Within the hour, a driver arrived and towed my sons car away. A day later, the team from Country Repair called and had some questions. Due to my lack of automotive knowledge, I was not able to answer the questions but the team was more than willing to call my son back and ask the same questions as he has an automotive encyclopedic mind. I received a call about five days later that my sons car was ready. My wife and I drove out to Country Repair where I met everyone on the team. The dispatch ladies were super funny and we shared a good laugh and then I met with the main tech who explained everything in detail. We settled the bill and I drove my sons car to his workplace. There was never a moment where I felt I was swindled or deceived. There was complete transparency during the whole time and best of all, my son' car works like it should. If you need a tow or a repair, I recommend Country Repair and Towing.

So, I took my car here since I had a road trip planned the next couple of days. My steering wheel was making a clunking noise when you turn it. Cody advised me that after looking at it my whole steering wheel shaft needs to be replaced and that its is soooo dangerous to drive. He said I personally wouldn't drive it. I WAS QUOTED ABOUT $3,000! I kinda hesitated but was told too dangerous to drive. It can snap etc. So I put my 20% down. When I left my mechanic called and said hey it sounds like the coupling gear. With labor and parts it will cost $420. So, I called Cody and said I will take my car back. I drove back with my neighbor who also works on cars and said Cody told him, its dangerous, I wouldn't drive it. My neighbor checked my car and he said that guy is wrong! You can drive the car. Had to sign paperwork with Cody since it was required for him to give back my keys. Then he said he needs to charge me 20% restocking fee. $616 of a part that he said was ordered. Restocking fee when he just ordered it an hour ago! I said are you serious? He could care less. Had to get my car so I signed what he needed. I drove my car home with no problem! Brought it to Driven Automotive the next day and Jason was kind enough to squeeze me in. Fixed my car in 1 day and I paid $420 instead of the $3,000 Mikes Auto Clinic estimated. I LOST $616 from Mikes Auto Clinic for a couple of hours of being there. The parts was just ordered when I cancelled. You don't have the decency to refund the full amount? I'm a single female on a tight budget. It wasn't even delivered since it was coming from Tacoma WA. PLUS I HAD NO PROBLEM WHATSOVER WITH MY STEERING WHEEL SINCE DRIVEN AUTOMOTIVE IN MERIDIAN FIXED IT TO DATE! Do not be like me STAY AWAY FROM MIKES AUTO CLINIC!!! I rate them NEGATIVE 0!
