I've been using Whit's for my vehicle maintenance and repair for years. I'm always treated fairly and their work has been spot on. I recently had a seal installed in my truck in which the seal failed while I was on a trip. I was able to contact the mechanic who had done the repair directly and with his assistance I was able to get home safely. While I could have jumped to conclusions and blamed the shop, I worked with them to find the real culprit...a defective seal. They warranted the work and all is well. There are a lot of options out there for vehicle service and not all of them are trustworthy. If I've ever had an issue anywhere, I've always found that honest communication is essential in getting those issues worked out. Is this shop perfect, no. There's not a shop out there that is. Whit's comes close and that's why I trust them with all of my vehicles from my Duramax to my Buick. It's also why I recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

WHIT'S HAS LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER Over the last couple years I've taken both my Ford truck and my Honda CRV to Whit's and until now, didn't have any problems. When I went to sell the CRV in May of this year ('26) a prospective buyer took it to a local Honda dealership for pre-sale inspection. The buyer came back to me saying it needed extensive work, including the rear rotors and brake pads. Not having had good results at dealer's shops in the past, we took it to another mechanic (more conveniently located in Boise). That mechanic said most of the work that the dealer said needed to be done did not need to be done, but that the rear rotors and brakes did, in fact, need to be done. I had already secured a new buyer in Oregon and was under a time constraint to complete the purchase, so I had the Boise shop do the work. Two days after the car was fixed, I completed the sale of my CRV to the customer. Later, when looking at our paperwork file for the CRV, I realized that I paid Whit's $232.00 to do the rear rotors and brakes just recently in September of 2025; it had only been 5,000 miles since they purportedly did that work. And yet, both the Honda dealer and a separate mechanic each said that the rear rotors and brakes needed to be done. Because the sale of the CRV happened quickly, we did not have the opportunity to take the car back to Whit's before I paid the Boise mechanic to do this work. Hoping they would address the overcharge, I stopped by Whit's and asked them what they could do to make this right. Their repeated answer was, "without seeing the car, nothing." When I told them that two separate auto shops agreed separately that the rear brakes needed to be re-done Whit's still refused to address the situation. When I suggested that one simple way to redress their oversight was to offer me a free oil change as a token they still refused. (An oil change would be about half the cost of rear brakes and rotors, to me, but it would have represented some ownership of their failure and would have been a gesture of good will.) Then, on the computer, Whit's checked their records. It wasn't one of their two less capable mechanics who had done my CRV's rear brakes six months ago, it was their "best" mechanic. But the testimony of two separate auto shops makes clear that Whit's either didn't do the work at all or did such a bad job of it that it had to be redone 5,000 miles later. And that was from their "best" mechanic. An hour after I got back home Whit's phoned me. They wanted to see the receipt from the Boise mechanic's shop, to verify that the rear brakes & rotors had been done. I e-mailed that receipt to them. Yes, Whit's saw, the Boise shop did the brake work. Still? Whit's said that since they didn't actually see the CRV they would not do anything to redress their mistake. If you were charged for work that needed to be done just six months later what would you think? Would you return and do business with a company that refused to address their (at best) oversight? read more

Elderly family member wanted to have work done on an older Chevy Pick-up. The Service Representative stated that their shop is moving away from working on "older vehicles" and did not seem very interested in scheduling a date for repair. Disappointed. I have heard good things about this business from others even though I have not had a good experience with them. I thought my instance was a one off. After the way my family member was treated I don't believe our family will take our vehicles there again. read more

I like this place. Anytime I need my vehicle smog checked or just need air in my tires. They immediately jump on it within reason. I took my car to Whit's for an oil change and everyone working there was so kind. They did a full work up of my car and showed me pictures of each part they inspected. I have used Whit's Auto Repair roughly half a dozen times in the last six and a half years (that I have lived here in Nampa) and I HAD been fairly happy with their service until last Monday. I say that because I went there to get a vehicle emission test done. I entered the building by having to grab hold of an old fashioned door knob which likely had thousands of germs on it because that's what you have to do in order to get in the building. In this age of Covid viruses you'd think they would grasp the fact that this is just not acceptable any more. Their doors need to be replaced by doors that do not require having to grab some germ infested door knob. Secondly, after I entered the building I walked over to their "Customer Service" counter. Nobody was there at all. I could see one man in an adjacent office talking on a phone but he gave no indication (at all) that he even recognized that I was there. He just continued to talk, and talk, and talk, and talk, on the phone to someone and nobody else came in the "Customer Service" area at all. Finally after about five minutes of waiting patiently for someone to actually provide some customer service to me I yelled out "SEEEE YAAA". That apparently finally got the attention of the man who had completely ignored me up to that point but even then he did NOTHING to indicate that he knew I was there. There USED to be an attractive young woman who worked there who actually provided great customer service. Who knows what happened to her? They need to have someone in that area of their business that can comprehend that a customer who takes the time to drive to your location and walk into your shop SHOULD have more importance than someone on the phone. A thinking individual would have put the phone caller on hold and asked me if they could help me. But that did not happen here. All I know is I will be going elsewhere from now on for auto repair services (and vehicle emission testing). Speaking of which I drove from Whits to the Big O Tire location in Nampa and they got my vehicle test done in just a few minutes. SEEEE YAAA Whit's. read more

Years ago I used to deliver NAPA parts to Whit's. One Time I delivered an Alternator to them but did not get the core in exchange. when I went back to delver anouther part the owner or service writer, I am not sure who she was, Berated me in front of her customer and mechanics and accused me of stealing the broken alternator. it was later found that the mechanic had just misplaced the alternator. she never apologized to me for that. read more

I normally go to a different mechanic, however, the heater blower motor in my Subaru died on a Thursday my mechanic couldn't fit me in until the following week. With highs in the 20s, and having had to use my snow-brush to clean frozen condensation from the interior of my windshield, that just wasn't going to be do-able for me. I called Whit's, and was invited to bring my car the next morning and he would do his best to fit me in. My car was repaired by 3pm! I believe I was billed fairly for the work done. The front desk staff were very helpful and kind (I was a little stressed out by the situation because I needed to be able to get to work that night). We had to replace a part on our truck so they overnighted it, but it never showed up. They ordered a second part and our pickup sat there over the weekend. The second part never showed up, so they don't have the best supplier. They went ahead and got the part local which was much more expensive. We finally have our truck back, but now the whole interior smells like cigarette smoke. Not super impressed, but grateful our truck is fixed. read more

I've used whit's and don't understand how they have such low marks. I've had absolutely nothing but great experience and only do what's necessary. I have my truck in again for power steering line or possibly pump but have nothing but faith in this shop. I definitely know that if it's anything that requires them to do diagnostics there is a standard charge as is with any repair facility. Unlike Kendall Ford in Boise on Fairview if you want to see what getting screwed is take your vehicle there. Whit's is the best and very considerate. TERRIBLE!! I am a 19 year old college student and these people took complete advantage of me. I took my car in for an estimate on my check engine light, and I got no estimate. All they told me was that I need to take it to a dodge dealer. I took it to auto zone 2 days ago, and they told me the same thing for free. I've had Whits take care of my vehicles for about 15 years after bad experiences with several other local shops. Nice to have a mechanic you can trust and stands by their work. If they tell you it needs fixed, it does. If it doesn't really need fixed they will tell you that also. They are upfront about everything, I am pretty savvy and educated when I take my cars in and never feel taken advantage of or have ever been ripped off. They are a business and have bills to pay and jobs to provide for their workers, nothing is free in life, so those who expect it will have a rough life ahead. Absolutely the most unorganized mechanic shop we have ever used. We thought it was a good choice and regretted our decision the second we asked for a detailed invoice before service was to be done. They were not uniformed as to what parts and % they mark up there parts. Some parts were marked up 250% when asked the manager said,"that's the best we can do." The business was very poor with communication and dishonest! I would not recommend this company to anyone! read more

Napa Auto Parts recommended them and they were able to fix the car in one day by improvising, as they couldn't order the part and get it on time, all for a reasonable price! We took our vehicle in to get an issue fixed that had already been identified and diagnosed. They performed the exact same test only to charge me again and to tell me that they could not fix the problem. We have used them a number of times in the past, but are now forced to find a new mechanic. This was one of the poorest example of integrity that I have ever seen, espcially given that we have spent thousands in repairs there over the years. We won't be back! read more
