After moving to idaho I needed to remove my out of state license plate. However the bolts holding the plate were so badly rusted that they could not be removed with a simple screw driver. I called various mechanics in the area and was quoted as high as 130$ at other auto mechanics for time and labor depending on how long it took. I felt that was too pricey for removing 4 screw bolts so I searched the highest rated mechanics in the area and found heritage. I called and explained my predicament and they told me to bring the car over and they will try and remove the plate free of charge. So I drove over and sure enough one of the kind mechanics was able to use some type of clamp device to carefully remove all 4 rusted bolts. Then he put the idaho plate on for me with temporary screws and let me know where I can purchase the new bolts I needed for my car. The whole process took around ten minutes and he said I didn't owe them any money, they were happy to help. After charging me 160 to diagnose that the parts I supplied were actually needed, they changed their minds and said they changed the policy on customer supplied parts several years earlier. I purchased a front/rear car camera because people drive crazy these days, and I had a couple bumper stickers on the rear window that needed to be removed. I had heritage auto work on my truck recently. I requested to have a few items repaired: front parking sensors not working, wind noise from door when driving, rear tail light not working (alert only). Heritage auto charged me $700ish to conduct work. Upon picking up my car only 1 item was stated to be repaired, the tail light dash alert. With in 1 week the same alert happens on my car. My front sensors never were repaired. Dope win noise was not corrected either. With all of this I have also found damage to my car that Heritage Auto Created. My driver side door panel has broken plastic clips, photo below. Not only was I charged around $700 dollars not one of the issues was fixed. Additionally they damaged my car causing more remains needed as the door panel is loose and rattles. Vastly overpriced and aggressively seeking inappropriate repairs! People not car savvy should avoid. While visiting my elderly mother-in-law in Boise, I came to Heritage seeking a more cost-effective alternative to the Lexus dealership for her 1999 RX300 that is only occasionally driven with around 4K/year miles. Heritage is not that. Today's issue was a check engine light with a P-code indicating a problem with the air/fuel sensor. Peterson Lexus would charge $100 to read/analyze the OBD code and $320 for the sensor. I thought I'd give Heritage a try. First off, Heritage charged me $190 just to read/analyze the OBD code, and when they wanted $490 for the sensor. That is $260 above what the Lexus dealership. I declined and went elsewhere. To add insult to injury, they also presented me a laundry list of other recommended service items totaling $6000. The vast majority are inappropriate and not required for this car. When I discussed my concerns with the Service Manager, his position was that he felt they are not particularly overpriced and offer a better warranty than Lexus. I don't have an issue with Lexus dealership service but wanting a more cost-effective alternative. Heritage Auto Repair is not that. You should avoid this place if you are not particularly automotive knowledgeable. read more

Didn't replace the gas used to deliver auto parts. And then when they had to me back the key to pick it up. Cause I couldn't afford them they. Flatten my tire, Yes, they picked up a nail driving the 50 miles and my tire light was on. You know what they said that was on when you got here. Why would you drive at 50 miles with the tire light on? You are an automotive location. Trying to figure out why my car was misfiring. My car battery died... at least I'm pretty sure that's the case. I looked on line to find a highly rated auto mechanic near me and came across Heritage, so I gave them a call. Someone answered the phone, so right there I'm impressed. After explaining the problem and that as my only car I didn't want to leave it there for an extended amount of time... afterall I could just keep jumping it every time I needed to go somewhere... so he gave me an appointment of 2pm that same day. This shop is busy! With several double bays there were mechanics swarming the cars. Every single bay had a car in it. I felt fortunate that they even had a space for my car. About half an out later they came out with the diagnosis. They had tested my car twice and confirmed the battery was dying. They had already ordered the part and it was on its way just in case I agreed to have it replaced right then and there. Awesome! I took my Honda Accord in for a master cylinder which had been diagnosed. I left my vehicle there and they did another diagnostic check and it came back the same that it needed a master cylinder. They also said I needed to have the transmission fluid changed, the air cleaner cleaned, and a tuneup. The vehicle was running perfect as it had a tuneup approximately 500 miles ago. The cost for this work would be $2200. I then asked what would be the cost for just replacing the master cylinder. I was told it would be approximately $1100. This is after charging me $150 to do the diagnostic check. I called three other shops in the Meridian area and everyone was approximately $400 less than this. I ended up picking up my car and taking it to another shop and the cost was approximately $400 less. read more

After ok'ing it and applying the fee, the next day we were told that they would have to get in there and pull the unit to find out what was wrong! It's with regret that I have to leave a poor review. I had another shop working on the truck and they wanted 3k it off my pocket on top of$14k that my warranty approved. I contacted Scott and he said that was a no brainier and to tow the truck to heritage and they'll take care of me. Right when my truck hit the ground Scott got really negative and said that it would cost more than the other shop would charge and that he didn't want to do the job because of the way the other shop removed the engine. We were discussing the truck and I was asking questions like a normal customer does and Scott said that I was trying to handle him. I'm trying to handle my truck that I pay dearly for. He said that his whole life he never let anyone handle him. Everyone should be assertive, as a customer that's how we should be when we're the ones paying for service. I am a power sports technician of 25 years, and I know the game. Scott said that if we couldn't come to an agreement, he would pay to have the truck towed elsewhere. I asked him if he would do that and he said that he would pay half. I told him not to worry about it. That's twice he didn't keep his word. I think that customer service training is mandatory. Of course there are two sides to every story. I'm the bad guy because I know what to expect as a customer. Heritage generally has good reviews and they followed up with me on my other vehicle. I wont be back. I went in today to get the Skin Shield replaced on my 2012 Honda Accord. It was cracked & damn near dragging on the ground. They presented me with options that included zip tying it or replacing the Skin Shield altogether. I opted with the best long term option which the associate Brad suggested was replacing the Skin Shield altogether & I agreed. They had to order the part from the dealer and as a bright point, they were able to get the shield in and fixed same day, almost same hour (i came in about 2:40, they close at 5, & I was out of there by 4pm, so i appreciate the quick fix). I saw them arrive with the Skin Shield & I took a picture of the gentlemen holding it as he walked in. So I decided to use their free wi-fi access while waiting to look online and i saw Skin Shields for my 2012 Accord go for as low as $22 or as high as $75 from the dealer (which is where they got it from) & then varying prices in-between. I was charged $134 for the Part & $95 labor + envir fees & supply + tax, my total came out to $251.04. This just seemed a bit high & kind of unreasonable to me. So when i left, i called around and received quotes from other local mechanics for under $200. I even called my old mechanic where i use to live & he quoted me under $150 (where i was a regular customer for years, so i admit theres some established bias there). The only reason I didnt rate this review lower is i was happy with the quick turn around & its mostly my fault for not shopping around more, but i am new to town and friends highly recommended them & when i checked yelp, they had good reviews, so why not commit to them? I'm a Lyft/Uber driver so i was hoping to find a good/honest place that i can trust to bring my car every 4-5 weeks for routine maintenance since i drive A LOT but when I'm overcharged by what my research tells me was at-least $75, I just have to take my business elsewhere. If i was smarter, i would have just bought the part myself and paid them labor, but i was anxious to get it done so I can get back to making money Lyfting/Ubering. I cant afford to be overcharged considering how much service i require as a lyft/uber driver. I even asked about the price of the part vs what i found online and all he said was they replaced the "whole part" which didnt answer my question since my question was about the "whole part". I just chalked this up as a $75 stupidity/ignorance fee on my part and as a lesson learned not to return. But they get 3 stars for a quick turn around-that i was happy with. read more

I called and, although their schedule was full, they told me to bring it in to scan the check engine code to see if it was an urgent code. Long story short, it is the following Tuesday and still no car. Now quoted a $650.00 price. Very disappointed with the service and lack of communication. So, I brought it to Heritage and they were absolute gems. Without asking a penny, they reviewed the car and gave me a thorough review, making sure I understood every problem with the problem car I bought. On one hand, I felt like an idiot. Why would I let myself buy a car like this and be robbed? But, the guys over at Heritage were so kind. They were a silver lining. It was like they were telling me I had cancer, getting a straight line and being told my options. Don't hesitate to go to Heritage. I think they're the best local shop. Recently a friend mentioned Heritage, and this is just what I've been looking for! When a simple air-conditioner repair turned into a mechanical engineering puzzle (due to a poorly designed GM part), Tony and his crew were extremely accommodating and friendly. Tony himself gave me a ride home, and delivered my car to my house the next day while I was at work. Despite the extra effort, the final bill actually came in under the original quote (which was 30% less than the dealership, by the way). They may not have WiFi in the waiting room or a Starbucks across the street, but I'll skip the conveniences to know I'm being dealt with honestly and getting a fair price. read more

Great people. Took my car in for a check up as my ABS was acting up in the morning a few weeks back. They mentioned they might not get to it today but for sure the next morning and contacted me later on in the same day stating they were able to get to it and diagnosed the problem. That was a Tuesday and said it should be a quick fix and ready for me the next Morning however was not able to pick it up until Friday that week due to a couple of errors completely on them. Wrong size part, breaking another part of the car that then needed another reorder to fix that. They did not charge for those parts or the labor it was just unfortunate it took as long as it did with me having to call them on multiple occasions to see what the delay was. I experienced face to face lying, bait and switch techniques with a special offer I brought in and a persistence level of pressure that made me so uncomfortable that I just had to leave but to do so I had to be sharp and to just go while they were still badgering me with their lies. This treatment was not just dreamed up the day I went in, it's pretty obvious that a person with a little less knowledge about what is wrong with their vehicle would have been snared in this trap as soon as they walked in the door. My car was scheduled for an oil change on 9/9/22. A few days prior to that date my car registered an alert that the coolant was low, I took a look and noticed a slow leak at the upper radiator hose. I informed Heritage when I brought it in for the oil change, they said they would pressure test the cooling system. I received a call from Heritage that the hose was not leaking but the radiator was cracked near the hose. Heritage said the entire job would be $1792 which I approved. Heritage replaced the radiator, all the hoses including the heater hoses, flushed the system and refilled it. A few days later the car alerted that the coolant was low so I took it back to Heritage. They said the heater hose was leaking and they would take car of it but I should replace the thermostat and housing because it's ready to go, (about $400), I declined that service. About a week later the car alerted low coolant, so I took it back to Heritage. Heritage said the heater hose was still leaking and now the thermostat housing was leaking. I told them to fix the heater hose and that I didn't want to put anymore money into the car, what I really wanted to say was i didn't want to spend anymore money with Heritage, I feel they were milking me like a cow or they were incompetent and keep fixing one thing and breaking another. I picked up the car today and Heritage told me now the low coolant sender was broken. These guys never give up. I cannot recommend Heritage, things just don't add up. I heard but cannot confirm that Heritage recently sold and the reviews are from the pervious owner. Customer beware! read more
