My used Dell (can't remember how old it was) workstation was also having issues and I got a terrific deal here on a lease-return I think. The TechLoop folks moved my drives and my pretty-good graphics card to my new server box. But what's really terrific, and why I'm writing today, is that the above graphics card died this morning. I thought that it was more than the graphics card, so I packed the computer in the car and walked it into the shop. Within 15-20 minutes the problem was diagnosed (I was wrong: it was *only* the graphics card) and repaired; I now have a new, less-fancy graphics card that nonetheless meets my needs (I write code and email). My iPhone needed a new battery - still worked but wanted better performance. Before leaving the store after the battery replace my phone started acting up. By the time I got home it was shutting down and I discovered that the camera was malfunctioning. They broke my phone. Told me to come back so they could put in a different battery. Not a chance I'd trust them after they broke it and used non Apple battery that caused multiple issues. Took the phone to the Apple Store on University Ave and they put in new apple battery and replaced the busted camera which was fine until tech loop broke it. Tech loop threatened to sue me if I posted a negative review here. Do not use this business - they are unprofessional and sketchy. I took in my phone to get a replacement battery. Apple had previously told me that the screws were stripped and they couldn't open up the phone to replace the battery, so the only solution was to buy a new phone. Meanwhile, Apple was the one who stripped out the screws. Techloop was able to open up the case and replace the battery! It works beautifully now! These guys are honest and efficient! read more

I recently panicked because my Surface Pro failed just in the middle of frantically writing a presentation due that night. The person there (I'm so sorry, I forgot your name!) was so kind and receptive on the phone, noting my urgency and encouraging me to come right in. I did and it turned out to be corrosion on the power cord connector. He cleaned it off, gave me some good advice and then suggested options wrt whether to get a new battery or have them change out the old one. No charge! It's a terrible feeling of emptiness when the PC that you've spent many hours assembling yourself is completely unresponsive to pressing the power button. No fans or blinking LEDs or hard drives spinning up - just complete silence as carefully chosen components have been screwed and snapped together to become a very expensive paperweight. A few weeks ago I decided to build myself a computer from scratch. I became obsessed with researching components and reading forums and very quickly I convinced myself that this would be a worthwhile investment of time and money. And as a software engineer, I felt like I had to build my own computer once. A few days later, a bunch of parts showed up at my doorstep and I went to work, only to arrive at a dead end. I didn't really have any tools or other components to isolate the issue so I turned to Yelp and found these guys. I called them and they actually mentioned that they'd assemble the entire computer for $65. At this point I decided to swallow my pride in being able to do the entire build all by myself (I had already borrowed many weekend hours from my wife and two young children), and I figured it would be a good chance to ask some questions and get some expert advice (and also be sure that the parts I had were working). Over the course of a couple days, we figured out that my motherboard was bad, so I got a replacement. I brought the rest o the parts in one evening. Dustin and Ron were super-nice and genuinely excited to help. We spent about an hour putting things together. I watched carefully and asked a lot of questions and breathed a huge sigh of relief when the computer booted up. Ron, without me asking, offered to help carry some of the boxes back to my car. Now I've got a sweet gaming PC that also boots OSX. I can still take pride in the fact that I built the entire thing once (and took it all apart), and I still have a fair bit of work to do in organizing the cables and installing the fans. I brought my iPad mini in to have the cracked screen repaired. The first employee I dealt with at the counter was condescending and arrogant. So much so, that I planned to take my business elsewhere. However, being pressed for time, I had no quick alternative. I was told it would be approximately 1 day to repair and it would be $149. The next day, I received a call that "the service technician" had been using the wrong tools and had broken another piece inside of my iPad mini. I was advised it would be at least another day while they replaced the piece THEY broke. Two days later, I was informed that Techworld would need another day. I was leaving town, so the owner, who was very nice and helpful, provided me with a replacement iPad mini to use for the two weeks I was out of town. He gave me the replacement the day before my trip and it worked fine. The owner was the only bright spot in an otherwise horrible experience. I appreciate his willingness to help his customer. However, I felt a substantial credit should have also been given after dealing with the arrogant, condescending counter employee, the incompetent service technician and the amount of time the repair took. FYI, an iPad mini OEM factory replacement screen can be purchased on Amazon.com for $37 with detailed instructions regarding the 2 hour installation. I probably wouldn't recommend using Technoworld for iPad mini repairs. read more

This place is great! I was walking by and went in to ask about repairing mine and he said it was probably cheaper to replace it with a used one. I saw that they had used monitors for sale for decent prices. Mine has been broken for a while. So I brought my monitor in and bought a "new " used one and he took my old one off my hands. I had originally paid around $1000 for my monitor new (Apple Cinema Display). So now I have a newer version for less than $300. I'm a happy customer! read more

My goal is to prevent you a similar very unfortunate experience I had with TechLoop in Menlo Park. Pay attention to the business title that touts APPLE repair NOT Hp! First Red flags: I took my functioning HP laptop in for service on November 20. I could not get a commitment from tech Ron for a date when he could complete what I thought was a simple transfer of data files from my old HP laptop to a new HP laptop. Ron expressed several times his distinct "dislike" of HP products; stating "they are the absolute worst." Several more Red flags: Repeated calls from me for status updates went un-returned. When I did reach Ron he said he was having "trouble" transferring my files. Continued bashing of HP laptops. Apparantly a person he needed "help from" was on vacation and again, not able to give me an estimated date. I got the sense that Ron did not know what he was doing and said I would come collect my computer. Final sad and very heartbreaking result: At the end of November I went into TechLoop to collect my laptop. I asked Ron why he did not just tell me he was unable to do the work himself and his response was "I can't turn away a paying customer." I then took my laptop to a Sr. HP Engineer friend who said the motherboard had been "dismantled" and that is why the computer would not turn on. He advised that only certified HP techs with the right laptop tools can do this sort of work. read more

I recently came into the store to attempt to make a warranty claim on an Apple iPhone 7 screen repair, which the store did in early June. As I was traveling in the month of July, the phone began to act strangely, which I attributed to a SIM card issue. I replaced the SIM card a few weeks ago. That seemed to have fixed the issue but problems started occurring again. I came into the store today to try to get a new screen based on warranty but the owner refused to do anything, citing a small crack in the upper right portion of the screen, which I got while traveling last weekend. Notwithstanding my explanation that the small screen crack occurred well after the issues first started arising, the owner refused to help me. That is quite unfortunate and demonstrates very poor customer service, especially because I have spent literally hundreds of dollars in his store, both to fix my initial screen, my son's iphone screen and an old iPad. There is zero customer loyalty. Just as a data point, Apple will charge $149.00 to repair an iPhone screen that is "out of warranty." There is literally zero reason to use TechLoop when the official Apple Store will do it and do it properly. The first time. Shame. read more

They had replaced my screen before, even though it was very expensive ($250) and it was fine. However, when my charging port became problematic, I took it in ($150). When I picked it up, it worked for about a week. I took it back in and they kept telling me it would be e fixed tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. A week and a half later, I picked it up. When I took it home, it lasted 1 day!! I learned my lesson from my daughter - go directly to Apple. I could have bought a new one if I hadn't messed around with Tech Loop. Not happy. read more

Horrible Experience!!!! I found a deal on Groupon saying that it was $60 for a screen repair. They have five locations around my area which I live in Pleasanton, the nearest one was Milpitas, great mall. Upon arriving at the great mall I was searching for their kiosk or store for about 30 minutes couldn't find anything. Looked on the Groupon and it was no number to be found but there was a website that had a phone number so I called that. I talked to The operator and he told me that they "haven't been at that site for about a year now" so I kindly said don't you think it's about time to take it off of the Groupon. I then drove to Menlo Park. Once here I talked to a gentleman and a hoodie with very thick glasses, I stated that I purchased a Groupon and that I want to fix my phone is there anything else I need to pay for? He responded know y'all said just give me about 30 minutes. Then fell sleep in my car went back into get my phone he told me I was all set, as I started walking to the door they tell May I have to pay $70 for my screen repair and that the Groupon is only for $60 off of the repair, mind you any local mall will fix screens for $80 and I drove about an hour and 40 minutes to Menlo Park. Screen looks great but the Groupon deal is a swindle and the gentlemen was very rude at the end of the repair telling me that "you need to learn how to read". DONT VISIT THIS LOCATION. read more

Techloop - Horrible Service ! - Mobile Phone Repair Near Me - Menlo Park, California

TL;DR: Mostly poor customer service, and ultimately no help offered. TechLoop has a sign stating that they purchase used equipment, but my experience attempting to sell a computer was staggeringly poor. I made three visits to the store. The first time, I received civil but dismissive customer service and was told to come back. The second time, I received polite customer service, but was told that, as no manager was present and only a manager could complete my transaction, I would need to make a third trip. I was assured that the transaction would be completed on this third visit. On the third trip, I was denied help, and in a rude fashion. I was also told that the employee who had spoken to me on the second trip was "new" and "didn't know anything." I suppose I'm to infer from such a statement that TechLoop believes that it does not have to stand by the assurances of its employees. I attempted to speak to them, frankly but politely, about the reasons for my disappointment, with the idea that it might help their new business. I was rudely shot down. In effect, they made it clear to me that customer service is not a priority for them. At that point, I, too, became rude. Two stars, but only because the first two people who spoke to me were polite. Edit: I would like to clarify, because of Ahmet's post below, that he was the second of the two polite people who I mentioned above. Thank you, Ahmet, for having spoken to me. One of the things that had upset me in the third encounter was your manager saying that you "didn't know anything" in front of customers. That seemed way out of line, on his part. No employee should have to tolerate that. As for the computer being stripped down without HDD or memory, that's not correct. The 8 GB of RAM were still in the computer. I was honest and up front about having removed the HDD, and I even offered to reinstall it. The manager would not hear me out. As for "sorry for any hopes not fulfilled by us," that's all that I had wanted to hear. A simple, courteous apology and clarification from your manager was all that I had wanted. My anger was only at his disrespect and lack of concern for me as a customer. I'm even sorry to him for my part in the unpleasant conversation, but I am still leaving this review up, because I still feel that he treated me unkindly. read more
