I'm pretty frustrated with TCU right now. Normally, I would have given them 5 stars in the past. We've had car loans, a heloc and refinanced our mortgage with them. We could have gotten a better rate somewhere else but we wanted to stay there because we LIKED them. Then this whole idea about converting to a savings bank starts up. 3 mailings and phone calls being told that the "board of Directors strongly urge us to vote yes?". I poured over the mailings they sent and dug into the booklet titled "Notice of a Proposal to Covert to a Federally Chartered Scum Sucking, Rip Off, We Answer to Big Money Bank". Harsh? Read it. Start with the cost estimate of $1,535,000. I'm assuming that most of that has been spent already between the lawyers and lobbying expenses. Who's money is that? Aren't Credit Unions Non-Profit? Then, it says that after the change "you'll still be able to vote", true but based on how much MONEY you have on deposit. 1 vote per $100 up to 1,000 votes. I don't have a hundred thousand, but the out of area, out of country investors do. Sure, they don't want restrictions on their deposit base. Not to mention that non-members probably won't be able to use the ATM for free, if at all anymore, further inconveniencing A COMMUNITY THEY WERE DESIGNED TO SERVE. They also say that they have no intention of issuing stock, they don't need the money and bother to tell you that there are "no potential profits by officers and directors" from STOCK. BUT the Board gets "Compensation" based on 2011 year end numbers of $1.56 Billion after the conversion goes through. Really. It's bad enough that they sold our credit cards to Bank of America, will our mortgages go there too? What happens to our good rates and low fees once they lose their non-profit status and have to start paying taxes? Why are they hiring people with banking experience. What made them think we wanted this? read more

Tech CU is outstanding! If you are buying a Tesla, definitely look them up. The entire loan experience was top notch, from start to finish. Signing up for the loan online was fast and easy, the software is very self explanatory. The response was exactly as they announced, about 24 hrs after sign up. We got a call from a pleasant lady, Mrs Doreen Tiwari, who explained all the the small details about the loan process, the rate, and payment options. She was very dilligent, sharp and extremely professional at all steps, always making sure to announce first that the call would be recorded, great security for us. The entire staff was friendly and very supportive. They veryfi your identity every time you call them, even if it's just to transfer your call over to another agent. This shows how much they care about our info's security. Mrs Doreen did the impossible (or at least I thought it was..), she got our application on DEC 29th and called us to ask for proof of income. I sent her all documents right away and told her about the new years deadline for my tax credit incentives. It usually takes 48hrs to 72hrs to analyze the whole set of documents but she worked double hard to make it happen next day, on the 30th, last business day of the year, literally in less than 24hours.. I could not believe it! She was even kind enough to work directly with Tesla rep in Denver to expedite the process so he could deliver us the car before new years eve.. AMAZING!! We are extremely happy with their level of professionalism and will choose TECH CU again for our next loan options and general banking needs. This is an update to an earlier review of a poor experience. This update is MUCH more positive, and my faith in TechCU and the value of a community banking institution versus one of the "big banks" has been restored! After my previous review, I was put in contact with Yvette, the Regional Manager. She was very responsive, looked into my situation, and agreed that previous decisions were made for the wrong reasons (you can read my previous review for background) and resubmitted my application. She then made sure I was able to contact her and/or a couple of her assistant managers to be able to stay updated on the situation. I was actually contacted by one of them, Christina, the next day and she worked with me to secure any info they needed and to keep me updated, all the way to notifying me of my timely approval! Everyone, individual or institution, makes mistakes but I do feel how those are handled when brought to light really show the character and quality of an organization and its people. I believe TechCU's handing of my complaint could not have been better, and does show their committent to their Mission and Vision and validates the importance of community banking. They have shown a global committent to serving their members, and not operating solely on the basis of the financial opportunity of individual transactions. Thank you TechCU! read more

Arlen & Diana THANK YOU!!! As a Breakthrough of Silicon Valley parent, there are so many opportunities for growth. Techcu offered a financial literacy seminar over the course of a month. As a 45-year-old single mother with 2 teens who are college-bound this was perfect. I could ask questions and get an immediate response from the comfort of our home. My kids were also part of the conversations. This was incredibly empowering with the knowledge they provided on financial literacy and how the products work. Circumstances out of my control have forced me to rebuild my credit and finances at this age. It's scary to try because banks only see a number and not the human. They were so generous with their time and offered to email or call with questions. So I did, and it changed the trajectory of my life. Seriously. They took the time to really hear me as a human and my story, and not as a nameless number. Their dedication to sincerely promoting financial inclusion is unmatched. I wish I had known about this sooner. But what I learned late in life, my children have learned early and have an incredible Techcu family for their present and future. After years of banking with them and having very high credit score, when I tried to consolidate my banking I was lied and insulted by their credit card department and by the customer service. Not only they didn't want to issue me the low interest rate credit card as I was closing the one with the remote bank. They actually closed the first one which I had for 9 years with them!!! TechCU credit card reps on the phone were nasty, rude and didn't care to have my business after all those years when I had all my payroll pumped through them. Later, the Customer Service claimed that they were not closing the credit card. But it was closed the next day. As a result, I moved all my accounts to another institution. During the move TechCU people were even nastier, talking down and blaming me for their own problems. Don't imagine that you will be supporting local banking or that you bank at a credit "union". This one is just a bunch of disgusting power tripper who don't care about local community. This is a repeat of the review I posted on TechCU local branch. But not only they do not take responsibility for their nasty behavior, they actually made Yelp to remove my reviews claiming that I can not blame the branch for the customer service. Not LGBTQIA friendly! I guess the service depends on who you get. I tried to open an account, b/c of these great ratings. I initially had someone repeatedly mis-gender me (I mean, they had all of my ID & I have a feminine name- why call me Mr/sir/etc.? Even after I correct them? I can't imagine what trans ppl go through at this place!). They sent an email that looked very much like phishing: addressed to a name that wasn't mine, a link under a sig that led just to yelp.com, etc. I ended up locked out of my account b/c the initial account opening took so long. I called, emailed, and sent an email through the system, but no response. When I finally talked to someone- Delia (sp?)- and I let her know how frustrating this was, and told her I was repeatedly being addressed as Mr., and I thought at least that we could agree was a problem. She said "well personally I don't see an issue with that." Welp! I asked to close my account and send me an email and call me confirming. It's been over a week, and still no confirmation call or email. Now they have my initial deposit, I can't log in, and no apology. I don't know what's going on over there, but it's not an LGBTQ friendly place. The app seemed nice for the while I had it tho. :shrug: read more

A nice and professional banking experience I had applied for and got a car loan from TechCU recently. I had a very good experience overall. Their process is simple and straightforward, designed in a very customer friendly manner. The Tech CU staff I worked with, Diana from their internet banking office is worth a mention.. Diana helped out a lot in guiding through the application process, in making sure all the needed details submitted right and to quickly resolve some of the delays caused by a glitch in their system and to complete the process. At that point Brian from their local branch stepped in and took over the case to work around the glitch. The hand over between two of their staff was so smooth that I did not have to explain anything when I stepped into their local branch. The end to end process was done between 2 business days and I cant recollect a single bad experience during the many communications we had during this short period. Staff maintains a very high professionalism and customer focus. No over persuasion or pressurization either. This leaves the customer with a good experience. read more

I now understand why Tech Fed is so aggressive, so unwilling to work with you, and ruthless with their loan payback policy and why Rod so proudly boast that their collection rate is greater than 97%. To same a few bucks, they do not insure their loans so if there is a problem, they are out 100% of the loan amount. Almost all banks insure their loans so if there is a problem with the loan, such as a job loss, divorce (semi-normal life events in this day in age, unfortunately), they recover the balance of the outstanding loan from the insurance policy and not you, the person who is already financially devastated. Tech Fed elects not purchase this loan insurance. So be careful should you consider taking a loan from Tech Fed. For if you do and you fall on hard times and lose your ability to payoff the loan, they will take you to court, garnish your wages, and/or place liens on your property, etc. They are ruthless in their effort to make themselves whole. I don't normally write reviews on Yelp but I thought it necessary due to an amazing experience. My boyfriend and I were in the process of buying our first home and we found out that we had to assume a solar loan on top of the mortgage. When finding this out we were absolutely discouraged but felt it necessary to at least reach out to TechCU to learn the process. Long story short we ended up having to pay the loan off in order to get the home. Shauna Gorman was AMAZING to say the least. She always provided me with the information I needed and answered any questions I had. Buying our first home has been incredibly stressful to say the least, especially during a pandemic. But Shauna made it so much less stressful and worked with us on everything we needed. I didn't have a lot of experience with TechCU as it was only for a short amount of time. But if anyone were thinking of becoming a member I would definitely encourage them and ask for Shauna Gorman. She truly is the best in customer service and is an amazing human being as well. Technology CU offered the best service that I ever had in any financial institution. I called them a little bit unhopeful because I was either not being approved on my auto loan applications or being offered a crazy high APR from other credit unions. Tech CU was the only one that called me and explained everything I needed to understand. I have recently relocated to USA, so didn't have a long credit history, however Tech CU was not only able to pre approve me with the loan amount I was looking for - but with the lowest APR I saw. After getting the sudden update that my car was ready for delivery on a Saturday, I got a little bit anxious but Morgan McCorkle was the best person that I could have asked for. She really helped me through the process and was able to process the loan so fast while being responsive and helpful in every step of the way. I wanted to also share that everyone from Tech CU was really helpful along the way, but Morgan was really outstanding.
