So, Ted Theodore Logan apparently ditched Bill S Preston, Esquire, and instead is now hanging with Wally Matthau and Wally Cronkite and Wally Disney and Wally Whitman and Sir Wally Raleigh. I really like the ice cream here - but I really don't like the employees. A couple of the guys were really nice and helpful, and the salted caramel ice cream was definitely tasty and I probably would have given it five stars, and admittedly it's really popular and has a massive following within the city. The reason I don't give it five stars is that there are a bunch of employee parking spots right out front and I didn't realize they were employee parking spots because it's very unorthodox to have that going on so I pulled into one and parked and then I saw the tiny little sign that said employees only. So I was about to pull back out when a car pulled in next to me at high speed and two teenybopper girls in Ted's & Wally's employee outfits were in it and they were scowling at me and shaking their heads. One of them was mouthing a swear word and saying something about me being an a-hole. Because of the insulting behaviour, I decided not to move. Instead, I went in and I told them that I'm parked in the employee spot because I didn't know it was an employee spot and there were a couple of girls in the parking spot in the parking lot being confrontational so I just decided to come in and let them know what was going on. They were like oh it's totally cool as long as you don't leave your car there for more than a couple of minutes while you eat your ice cream, and apologized for the behaviour of the girls. After a couple of minutes I headed off with the knowledge that some of the employees are really nice and the ice cream is really good but some of the employees are absolutely unacceptable hostile especially for such a small friendly Midwestern City. So despite it being owned by Ted Roosevelt, Ted Bundy, Ted Nugent, and Ted Danson, I have to deduct a star rating despite the 5-star ice cream on offer. Oh wait, I should deduct extra stars for it being owned by Bundy and Nugent. If that's a Nu-gent, I'd rather have the old gent. read more

Gigantic portions!! Their vanilla was meh, but I liked the other flavor I had...it was a caramel/nutty flavor on a vanilla base; I can't recall exactly what they called it. I was sort of disappointed by the flavor options they had on that particular evening (a weekend, at that) but am told that their flavors change regularly and that they usually have more exotic flavors. This is THE best Mint Oreo ice cream I have ever had! They churn it right there onsite. The staff were very sweet and attentive. Ice cream is good. I ordered a shake on night one and it tasted good, but was too thin. They put too much milk in their shakes. So they start out a little thin and it just gets worse. I went back night two and was going to get another shake and just ask them not to put so much milk in it. After waiting in line for 20 min, I was told they're closing and the only thing they offer is scoops (no shakes, no floats, no sundaes...). I owned a dessert shop in Scottsdale and I would never allow that. Customers at closing are just as important as customers at opening...especially after waiting 20 min in line. Yes, employees may be there an extra 15 min after waiting on everyone in line, but they are still customers who just waited 20 min to patronize your business. Lastly, we used the same commercial Hamilton Beach mixer for shakes and yours is FILTHY. Different flavors of DRIED ice cream dripping all over it. It should be cleaned and maintained throughout the day/night. Our health dept would not like that. It looks like you need better management at this location. read more

That said, I don't remember exactly what flavors I got, but I remember they were very good. I stopped in around 12:30 pm on Sunday about a week ago (mid-August) and immediately loved the old-school vibe of this place. It reminded me of my childhood and going to old-time ice cream shops as a special treat. There were about a dozed different ice cream options, but I selected the lemon cake in a waffle cone. It was delicious, but after a few bites, I was looking for additional flavor, maybe a topping or something to spice it up a bit. I ended up eating half before I was full and tossed the rest. My biggest compliant was that the place from the tables to the floor weren't super tidy and clean, despite four employees working and nobody in line. Literally my favorite ice cream place anywhere and it's just not even a comparison. Their flavors rotate all the time. Their ice cream is 20% butterfat and is always creamy and rich. They keep their best flavors available all the time (Dutch chocolate and vanilla bean) but come up with new flavors all the time--even including local ingredients. Their sundaes are all made with brownies and cookies from local bakeries. They make their own hot fudge. "Ultra-Premium" is sometimes an over-used word but when it comes to Ted and Wally's Ultra-Premium Homemade Ice Cream - Ultra-Premium really is the best description for this ice cream. Ted and Wally's has been in business since 1986 and all of their ice creams are produced on-site in vintage ice cream freezers (visible in the lobby). The ice cream contains 20% butterfat which makes for really, really creamy ice cream. There were four of us in our group and all of us tried the double dutch chocolate which was probably the best chocolate ice cream I've ever tasted. It's often hard to decide. They have cones, dishes, sundaes, cookies, biscotti, and popcorn. They also have ice cream sodas, phosphates, egg creams, shakes, coffees as well. You get a sizeable amount with those ice cream scoops. They don't ever skimp you. The ice cream flavors change daily. They have two locations, one is on Jackson Street in the Old Market which is great. My personal favorite is the other location on Maple Street in Benson. If you get a chance absolutely go to this one. They not only have all the ice cream goodness, but they have a whole other restaurant inside with them. They partnered with A Taste of New Orleans and it is authentic New Orleans home cooking. It is perfect for getting lunch or dinner and then getting some ice cream if you have any room left over after eating that amazing Cajun/Creole goodness. We are not from Nebraska but had heard about this place from a friend. The ice cream shop is definitely cute and had an old fashion feel to it. There were some churners in front of the counter mixing ice cream. They had some interesting flavors I haven't seen elsewhere like root beer or coconut cream pie. They boast to have the most fat in their ice cream. So how did it taste? Well, here's the problem. It wasn't as smooth or creamy as I would like it. I think the old fashion churning with ice and salt isn't enough to get rid of the ice crystals that formed. The floor of the root beer was very subtle. My daughter's Dutch chocolate was better. On a little weekend holiday with my wife and some friends, we found ourselves with some time to kill and chose to spend it wandering through the Old Market area of Omaha. On the whole, the Market was charming; with the exception of one coffeeshop and a bank, it seemed that every shop was locally owned and Omaha proud. From clothing to coffee, and Christmas ornaments to cupcakes, we found ourselves delighted with the character of each little shop. As we strolled and enjoyed the day, we noted one shop in particular that "called out" to us. It was what appeared to be a renovated service station, now ice cream shop, called Ted & Wally's. We didn't stop because we had in it in our minds to grab ice cream from a different vendor, but as the afternoon progressed, we never went back. Fast forward to today, and we were itching for a bit of a treat in lieu of lunch. We headed back to the Old Market and on a lark stopped at Ted & Wally's. Walking in we were greeted with old style ice cream churns... huge churns making ice cream using ice and rock salt! We waited our turn, reading the menu and pondering the options; some of the flavors were traditional and expected. Others... Not so much! I opted for a scoop of French Toast with Bacon and a scoop of Tasty Good Naked w/HOT Salted Toffee. The flavors were AMAZING and honestly defy a written description. Suffice it to say they know what they're doing! The texture was absolute perfection and the balance of sweet to creamy was on point. I would encourage ANYONE visiting the area to plan your stop around a visit to this delightful Omaha treasure. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to NE. read more

They are constantly coming up with new, out-of-the-box flavors, my favorite of which was probably Covfefe, which was delicious even with the surprise ingredient of Cheetos crumbled in! (They have a great sense of humor.) I appreciate them have vegan and dairy free options available for those requiring such alternatives to traditional ice cream, making it a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Here in the winter, we had no problem getting inside but in the summer, the line is out the door and the wait is long. In short, this is an ice cream shop that has some funky flavors as well as "normal" flavors so everyone's happy. Their funky flavors always sound weird, but from what I'm told, they always taste amazing.
