First impression when walking in is that the ambiance of the place is very comforting and welcoming. Pai was the esthetician that took care of me and she was sooo nice and friendly. This place is a no-nonsense place! Their website will direct you to online booking, and I find their sense of humor hilarious. Props to whoever did that, because the sarcasm, but utmost professionalism is sometimes something we need. After feeling a little better about actually going to places late 2021 since the Pandemic Era, I found my way here after shaving was giving me anxiety to get cut down there. :dramatic sigh: Okay, I lied, I actually used the same clippers that I use on my dog. It was my first time, so I just scheduled whatever appointment I had first. Mai was my lady and she was sweet, professional, and efficient. I had underarms, lip, and Brazilian done, and I was out in less than 20 minutes as the first appointment of the day. She was able to drive the conversation normally so that it didn't feel too awkward. All of my hair wasn't able to get out, because of the clippers made it grow off, but it was a lot better than before and I'll be back in 4 weeks. Also, don't be worried that the front door is locked. I was so shy that I didn't knock hard, but they really only open it at about 10:00 am. Haha. I thought I was at the wrong place, even though it clearly said Ted D Bare on the door. It wasn't my first time getting a brazilian, but anytime I feel like it will get easier, it really doesn't. It's still hella painful. Cash Only! No tips, which I felt awkward about. The fact that I have not written a more detailed love letter to Ted D Bare is astonishing. I have been coming here for waxing for several years now and I have never had anything but a great experience. I struggled with ingrown hairs and really sensitive skin for years. I always thought I would just never be able to wax without those painful side effects... until Ted d bare. One of my favorite things about Ted D Bare is the hard wax. I personally get much better results with the products and technique they use here. I was super intimidated by hard wax at first because I had always heard it was more painful. The truth is that no matter what wax you use, ripping your hair out doesn't feel great.. LOL! Let's be real, right? So if that is what is holding you back, I felt that too but now will never go back to a European wax center / Brazilia / spa for a soft wax. I seen every waxer several times and they are all great. If you are new, I recommend booking with everyone at least once so you can compare which waxer / pattern you like the best. I have been booking with Mandy lately and am super happy with my wax every time I leave but you truly can't go wrong with anyone. Also- booking is super easy!!! Bye bye unwanted hair! Making appointments is pretty easy. They have an online calendar where you can check all of their availabilities. It's really just to show their availability, so you CANNOT book online. After picking your top 3 choices for date and time, you have to EMAIL them along with what service you want. If you click on the time you want online, it'll ask for a "secret code" and your personal information, but this won't lead you to anything. So again, EMAIL them with your top 3 choices along with the service you want and then wait for their prompt email response of your confirmed appointment time. You can also request for a specific waxer too. So far I've only had two services here.. BRAZILIAN WAX $45 -"crotch, full labia, bum crack, includes happy trail - option to leave landing strip or inverted triangle." BRAZILIAN AND LOWER LEGS $80 They offer a variety of hair removal combos..butt cheeks, underarms, upper lip, fuzzy navels, nose hair and ear hair as well as hair removal for men. When you arrive for your appointment, you won't be greeted by anyone. All you'll see is a couch, 2 chairs, a few magazines, and minimalistic decor. Maybe you'll see another client sitting on the couch or maybe someone in the brow bar area but there's no one to check you in. You just seat yourself on the couch until it hits your appointment time and right on the dot, your waxer will pop her head out and call out your name. Then she'll lead you back to her room and have you get undressed from the waist down and then plop onto the paper covered waxing bed. I've gotten waxed by Pai, Jane and Gavi, and they'll all been great. They talk to you like you're friends just catching up, which makes the experience less awkward and somewhat distracts you from the pain that they will instill on you. I got my very first brazilian wax here and never went anywhere else since. Tips.. -It's CASH ONLY. There's a "No Tip" policy too, which makes the transaction even easier. -They use soft wax. -Coming every 4 weeks is recommended but I'm the type to only get a Brazilian wax when I vacay..which is about 2-3 times per year. So coming in, they definitely have some work to do and I always forewarn them but they're always chill and never seem phased by it. -Hairs should be at least 1/2" long for removal..which is about 4 weeks of no trimming/shaving/waxing. -YES, they will wax you if it's that time of month but make sure you're plugged up with a tampon. It'll just be more painful as they wax because your hormones are out of whack and it's way more sensitive down there. read more
